Jay is fantastic - he does great work, let's you know if he's running late and is very professional.

I called Lockbuster on Thursday and set up an appointment for the next day. Jay Sofer answered the phone promptly. Shortly after arranging the appointment for the next day, which I felt was very reasonable, Jay called to say the Scott, the Baldwin specialist was in my area and could come today, the day I first placed the called. Scott arrived as promised. He worked quietly, pleasantly and efficiently. After he finished he cleaned up and then explained the workings of hardware in great detail. The entire experience was outstanding. The highest marks to Lockbuster.

Jay's place was the 4th place I called and knew immediately that I was going to use him for the job. The website is straight forward and lists the prices upfront. There was a little video of how they work on the website. Jay answered the phone himself and answered my questions quickly and professionally. The prices he quoted my were exactly what was on the site. It was going to run me about $300. We set the appointment date and time. About a half hour before the appointment, Jay called to tell me he was on another job that was running long and would be about an hour late and wanted to check if that was okay or if we should reschedule. I said it was fine and that I appreciated the call. I asked him to call when he left the other job. He called me back at Noon, the original time of the appointment and said that he would be there in 20 minutes. He arrived promptly and got to work. I had noticed the original deadbolt that I had looked like it had been rigged to be in place. Jay said that he could make it work, but it might be better to install a whole new deadbolt. I had already figured that might the case. The install went quickly. He was quick, polite and professional. He gave me the bill and it was exactly what he quoted me on the phone. I reminded him that price hadn't included having to put in a whole new deadbolt. He was grateful that I pointed that out. I work in costumer service and Jay understands what quality service means and provides it.

On a weekend, I was desperately sending emails to locksmiths after another locksmith (for whom I had purchased a deal through Angie's List) didn't show up for the appointment a couple of days earlier. I had just completed a renovation and was about to go out of town, so I really needed to get it done Monday morning. He emailed back within a few hours and said he could come first thing Monday morning. He showed up on time, was very professional, and quickly did a quality job.

It went well as they explained pros and cons of different locks before we made our choice.

Lockbusters answered phone in person. Told me to await a call back from locksmith within 1-2 hours. He called in a timely fashion. After description of the problem we both decided that the issue was one of malalignment of the door rather than a faulty lock. They declined to make house call to review problem as, after discussion, we were in agreement as to the cause. I think that was honest and professional of them to save time/money for both parties.

He was on time. He didn;t try to sell me anything i didn't need. Professional. Efficient. Very quick.

I cannot say enough good things about Lockbusters, and particularly Jay. Service was very professional and friendly from first call to the job getting done. Jay was able to fix in 5 minutes what another locksmith screwed up and charged me a very fair price given it was only 5 minutes of work. When I asked the other locksmith to fix what they installed poorly, they came to see the job again but told me nothing was wrong and actually blamed me for not knowing how to close my door correctly. Do not use SOS locksmith in Chelsea! I wish all locksmiths and similar services had the same standards, understanding and trustworthiness that was exhibited by Lockbusters. Thank you, Jay!

Jay was communicative, fast and very nice. he replaced both locks in no time and referred me to other services I was in need of a referral for. he followed up to make sure I was all set and came back for a final lock replacement which he provide at a discount because he's just that awesome.

He is super professional. He does 24 lock out service, and has flat rate guarantee. We called and asked when he could be there, and he said about 20 minutes, and he was there, and did it quickly, and he is great.

Everything about this provider was perfect except his professionalism in the end. I was out of town when he changed my locks. He was amazing on the phone answering all of my questions and doing the work for the best possible price. Really superb !||However after the work was done, my friend who was at my apartment when the work got done, told me it looked like the locksmith had done some damage to the wall near the door.||When i asked him about it, I said i wanted to clarify what happened. I did not accuse him of doing damage, but since I was not at home, I wanted to understand what happened. He got VERY defensive with me.||He then accused me of refusing to pay my bill which was untrue.||I tried to pay by bill immediately but it took him a few days to send me a paypal invoice which i then paid.||I tried to explain that i was not accusing him of the damage, and I was just trying to understand what happened.Rather than having a conversation with me, he told me to never call him again. It really left a bad taste...

He changed th cylinders. Made the keys. He was proffessional and efficient.

I recently bought an old house, built in 1945. The previous owner lived there for 50 years, and when it came time for me to change the locks, it showed. I contacted Jay based on a number of positive reviews and he did not let me down. My house was a bit of a challenge as a result of the old lock mechanisms, but he was able to change everything over so that four doors (each which previously had completely different locks on them) all have the same key. Jay was extremely friendly, responsive, and was able to come out the day after I first called. I am extremely happy with the service, and would refer him to anybody in need of quick, helpful service. A real pleasure to work with.

I contacted the company on 10/3/13 and they called me to state they will be at the property on 10/4/13. They never showed. I contacted them to find out why and the person stated he was busy. He stated he would come to the property on Monday. They never showed. At least a phone call would have been nice

Jay was a delight to deal with from first contact to job done. He treats you like a member of his own family and he has the nicest manner and demeanor. This is a rare quality in service professionals in New York City. He found me the most economical yet secure solution for my situation. Use him. He's a gem.

Jay was great. He called me right back, set a time that same morning and showed on time. He was clearly knowledgeable, experienced and skilled. The price was exactly as quoted on the phone and the whole business took all of about 15 - 20 minutes. On top of that, Jay is just a really sweet guy, smart, funny, and a pleasure to do business with. I hope he stays in NYC because he's the only locksmith for me!

The lock doesnt match the door at all! It looks like a nasty job.. But the provider came in, fixed it under 15 mins!! Unbelievable!! I will definately use them again!

This was over a year ago and Angie's list asked for a review soooo... I had scheduled an appointment with Lockbusters using their website. The locksmith arrived promptly and quickly replaced my lock cylinder. He was friendly, prompt, professional, and fast. The process couldn't go any smoother. They keep getting A's for good reason.

The craftsmen Isaac and Arthur from "Lockbusters" are both consummate professionals and highly skilled artisans. They installed the small cabinet locks expertly and perfectly. These locks needed very precise measurements and required special attention and care for the wood surrounding them. Isaac's and Arthur's results are beautiful to look at as well as solidly functional, strong and dependable. The brass door knob and corresponding lock for the door leading out of the library, that they installed, is solid and strong also as well as aesthetically perfect for the décor. The icing on the cake: They came up with the best and sturdiest solution for the computer room double door entrance. And the price was right for all of the work. My husband and I found Isaac and Arthur to be most punctual. They were extremely respectful of our home and us, and kept everything neat and dust free, alleviating all of our concerns. They were available and helpful in every way, seeing to it that we could operate the locks with ease and to our utmost satisfaction and making sure to ask us, before they left, if there were any locks, in our apartment, that might need tightening up or oiling with no additional charge. What a fabulous company! If only other companies could even begin to approach "Lockbusters" standards, what a wonderful world it would be! We highly recommend "Lockbusters" with the greatest praise. We had subscribed to Angie's list as we were getting inaccurate/baised reviews on other review web-sites. We needed a single cylinder dead bolt lock installed for our master bedroom door and after reading several positive reviews about Lockbusters I picked up the phone and called for a quote on 8/9. The receptionist was polite, took my contact information and a call was promptly returned by Isaac. I asked for Jay but was told that Isaac works with him. I explained to Isaac very clearly that this is a new installation and will require drilling for a single cylinder deadbolt lock. Isaac quoted $149 with an additional 10% off for being an Angie's list member. I asked him specifically if he will be able to install a Baldwin deadbolt lock and just to be clear, had texted him a picture. He said he will have no problems installing it. I immediately ordered the Baldwin lock from Home Depot and paid extra $ for expedited shipping so that Isaac could install the lock on August 14th. I also called him on August 13th just to remind him about our appointment the next day, and again I re-confirmed the price with him which is $149 with a 10% discount. On August 14th, a David showed up in the morning and said he thought this was going to be a lock replacement/repair (not new installation). He left without completing the job as he did not have the right tools. David asked a few times : "Did Home Depot tell you this was going to be easy?" which I thought was inappropriate and totally unprofessional. I called Lockbuster and asked for Jay to raise my concerns. Jay was very prompt in returning my call, apologized for the confusion/miscommunication and said he will get Isaac to call back and honor the job and price as originally quoted. Jay also said that he would typically charge $375 just for labor to install a Baldwin deadbolt lock so I am effectively getting a "good deal" if they honor the originally quoted price. Isaac called back and re-quoted $249 minus 10% off (Angie's list membership). I then emailed Jay communicating my frustration about the ever-changing price quotes, and that I will prefer not to have someone come in when they do not feel agreeable/happy about sticking to the original quoted price. I asked Jay if he could do the job personally as I am not comfortable with how much time we are spending going back and forth on this. Jay said he was not able to do the job as he is on a project in Brooklyn. Isaac later called again and said he would do it for $149 but no Angie's list discount. Jay wrote and said Isaac will complete the job the same day. Isaac never called back and when I called him - said he could not do the job today, and will try for the following day! At this point, I was really frustrated. I called a 2nd locksmith on Angie's list who quoted a $125 flat fee but was unable to come in at such short notice. I then called a 3rd locksmith (also on Angie's list) who came in promptly and did an excellent job installing the deadbolt lock for $135 ($150 minus 10% Angie's list member discount) in under an hour. The process with Lockbusters was very frustrating. I like Jay as he responded promptly but will not recommend his colleague Isaac.

This was one of the best professional services I've ever had in my 15 years of living in the city. My toddler locked the bathroom door today. Luckily, I was in the bathroom with him at the time. I live in a pre-war building with beautiful door knobs but no key and no way to keep the baby from playing with this lock. My older son, and his friends, leave the bathroom door open and I have no way of keeping the baby out all of the time. I've never used Angie's List before but I knew my husband just started paying for a subscription. I decided to put it to use. Lockbusters was the first place I called. They had great reviews, a cool name and a great website. They seemed affordable, but one never knows... Their website listed them as a top YELP user. I called and not only did someone answer right away but they said they could come over right away! The fee sounded affordable too. David showed up shortly after the call. He met my crazy toddler, talked to me about options, and solved the problem in 10 minutes. To know my son can no longer lock himself in the bathroom is such a huge relief. On his way out, David saw that our front door knob had two screws missing and was loose. He generously offered to fix it! He dug out of a box two screws that fit perfectly and tightened the other two. I will not only use Lockbusters again, but I will refer them to friends and neighbors. I appreciated their promptness, attentiveness, affordability and integrity. Thanks!

My interaction with LockBusters was very pleasant -- they responded immediately to my request, and even showed up early! The whole process to change the locks on my Manhattan apartment took no more than 15 minutes. I really liked that they have set prices, as published on their website. This (and other positive reviews) is primarily why I used them.

Being a small business owner myself, I understand the importance of using sites like Angie's List to help attract more business. It catapults small business numbers if you have great reviews which stand the test of time. Finding a company with great work ethics, who understands that business is not made on a single visit, but grown on relationships that remain positive, is refreshing. We hear many stories about the guy who shows up wanting to install an entire new unit when all you really need is a new switch, right? I need to tell you, I have found a stand up guy, with a stand up company. 'Jay' from "Lockbusters". I wish I could find a 'Jay' for all our home and commercial needs. In a city with 8.5 million people, you just have to search that much harder to find the ones with integrity. Thank you Jay. I wish I had more locks!

I have used them a couple of times. The owner's name is Jay. He is courteous and friendly. He is always very professional. I would use him again and again. He is a really great guy. He is very good with his work. I used another company in between him and I felt like I would never again. Jay is very good at communicating with us when he comes out. If he is delayed at all, he will call us. If I have any locksmith needs, I will always use him. As long as I can get in touch with him, I would absolutely use him.
