Kirby Painting

Winston was very professional and came out promptly and as promised to provide the quote. He was flexible in adding to the quote when I decided to install new lighting fixtures and wanted the ceilings painted in addition to original plan of walls/trim. He was very up front about the quality and execution of his team's work and they came through on all promises. I had to reschedule the job since my lighting did not make it in time for our first scheduled date and Winston was able to work with me to re-schedule. We finalized the work and signed the contract and chose the paint colors. When I could not quite decide on final color Winston came out with the two options a day before our start-date to paint a section so I could decide - that was helpful. The team arrived on time each day and set expectations daily for completion/progress. The job was finished in 2 and a half days and the house was cleaned up and all furniture back in place at completion. The work is high quality and I am very pleased.

Winston Kirby and his crew did an outstanding job painting four interior rooms and the outside of our house. Professional from the start, trustworthy, efficient, and really intent on doing the best possible job. My husband and I couldn't be happier with Winston Kirby. We have conducted business with many contractors over the years as we remodeled two homes. Winston Kirby ranks as our number one contractor.

I had a very positive experience. Mr. Kirby gave us a prompt estimate at a better price than other estimates. He kept us apprised of his schedule and when we had to reschedule due to rain, he stayed in communication so we would know when they were going to come back. I would recommend Mr. Kirby's company highly.

The day before they textured, Winston and Chris came by to check out the space and patch the ceiling. The next day, they sealed off the bathroom and completed the texturing quickly. I was able to prime and paint myself that weekend, and I'm very happy with the result.

Winston is great and gives very competitive prices. He does quality work and offers good guarantees. I would recommend them to anyone.

They came as planned and caulked/painted while we were out of town. When we came back the job was done and we paid them. No fuss, no problems.

Overall it was a very good experience. Winston is very punctual, thorough and careful in his work. We had a few miscommunications initially regarding the estimate but we worked it out. The space involved had some very high vaulted walls plus I was not painting the ceiling. Winston and his crew did an excellent job in the minimum amount of time. I love the end result and would definitely recommend Kirby Painting.

Winston is beyond a painter; he is an artist. The house is a masterpiece.

Arrived promptly at at 8:30 AM as promised. Chris and James covered the furniture and floor. Finished in about 4 hours. Cleaned up after painting. Very satisfied with their work.

Overall the job went very well. I think that it took a bit longer than initially expected but it was a HUGE job. Winston and his crew were very friendly. Once I met them and spoke with them I had no qualms about leaving them in the house by themselves. In fact I left town for several days and gave Winston a key and never once was worried. The place looks great. Winstons bid was a third of the next nearest company that bid on it. I like the fact that he gave me his best price without haggling.

Winston and his crew showed up on time, and did a great job. They power washed the house, and removed the rotten wood, finding an ant infestation in the process. All wood was replaced, primed and painted. Very satisfied.

This was a pretty labor intensive job, with lots of detail. Winston and crew did a great job, despite having to work around the July 4th weekend, my four kids, and the dog. We also did not have all of our colors picked before they started, but they worked with us to get everything correct. They had to use a lot of oil base on our trim and base boards, and did a great job. Very satisfied.

Winston came a couple days before the project was to start to go over our contract, finalize details about the work we wanted done, and answer any questions we had. On the day the project started he and his crew arrived on time and got to work. They were at the house everyday on time and left the workspace clean every evening. When he originally scheduled us he quoted a three day job and it ended up taking six days but he started a few days earlier than originally scheduled so job was still completed by day we needed it to be completed by. His crew was very friendly, answered questions, and went out of their way to take care of our house and the work they were doing. They were painting our kitchen cabinets, and I think we just assumed they would remove the shelves to paint them but they didn't and they shelves are painted in. If we removed them we'd have unpainted spaces inside the cabinets. We didn't address this originally since it didn't occur to us until several days after the job was completed when we were unpacking boxes and putting things away, and they never addressed it with us either so it's a mute point at this stage. However, they did an amazing job on the painting and applying the antique finish. Very high quality job.

Overall, the job went well. It did take about 6 weeks from the time of the estimate until the job could be scheduled. James and Luis were excellent workers. They arrived on time every morning. They worked diligently and were neat. The attention to detail was impressive. The job was completed in 4 days. There was an extra charge for eggshell paint. There was also talk of an extra charge for the need for two coats of paint, but that charge did not take place. My only problem with the company was that in order for a warranty to be issued for the job to be valid, a report to Angie's List had to be made within 7 days from the completion of the job. I always wondered why they had so many reports on Angie's List, now I know.

We wanted the interior painting completed prior to our move-in date, and so we contacted Winston soon after closing to get a bid. Winston gave us a fair quote (not the lowest, but certainly not the highest, either), and fit us into his schedule to meet our time line. He and his crew did an excellent job. We were moving from out of town, and did not get to see the house until after they had finished we hardly recognized the place; the previous owner evidently also stopped by, and commented on what a fantastic job Winston and his crew had done. If any questions arose, or if Winston had any recommendations or suggestions (such as re-varnishing our front door which looked awful next to the wonderful new paint job), he would call and discuss. Some rooms required up to 5 coats (primer and wall paint) to cover the strong colors underneath. The additional work was done without complaint. He did a great job of keeping paint off the tile floors and carpeting. Everything looks fantastic. We are very pleased. I would highly recommend Winston based on our experience.

So far so good. He's finishing up right now and he has been on time, got to my job quickly, and has been very nice funny and professional. He used good quality paint and attention to detail. The priming was done last week and then he came back this week to put 3 coats of paint. He is meticulous and cleaned up after himself. His coworkers are professional and nice.

The process started on Monday, April 28. Winston's guys showed up and power washed both houses and the metal shed. The guys were polite, professional and did not make a big mess. In fact, one of the guys (James) noticed a bit of weather stripping that was missing on one of the doors and warned me that I might want to get a towel to take care of any water leakage. Tuesday and Wednesday were devoted to the carpentry. The only snag was that the subcontractor had underestimated the amount of rot in one of the garage door casings and had to get more materials. The carpenters were very professional and did excellent work. My only complaint is that the subcontractor was not very good at communicating exactly when his crew was going to be working on my job. Since work was being done on the door frames, the doors had to be open and I needed to be there so this was a bit of an inconvenience but not a serious problem. Thursday both houses were scraped and primed as needed. I was impressed that the guys even raked the scrapings out of the grass. On Friday, both houses and the shed were painted and the job was completed. I was very impressed with the quality of the work.

We were pleased with the majority of the work. There was some confusion over colors and some details with the kitchen cabinets, but Winston was willing to do what he could to make us happy with the final product. We completely trusted Winston and James to come and go in our home as needed. Our dog took to them immediately and enjoyed the companionship during the days they were here.

We couldn't be more pleased with the work Winston and James did on our home. On the whole, their work was superb. Their eye for detail and catching mistakes they made or missed exceeded my expectations. In fact, I expect them to find tweaks they'll want to fix when they return to paint our home's exterior. What's more, Winston and James always solicited our feedback about on-the-spot decisions that had to be made along the way. As a testament to their good judgment, their suggestions were always right on the money. Although this interior paint job took a little longer than I expected, the results were well worth the wait. You couldn't pick a better painter to trust with your home than Winston Kirby and his staff.

Winston came for an estimate exactly when scheduled, was very professional (loved our dog) and gave a reasonable estimate. We were convinced that Winston would do an excellent job. After some delays (they are quite busy), they arrived on the day scheduled and began painting. They discovered an issue with the chimney repair and called Noah's Ark. Gary Kirby immediately came out and was very upset that the job had not been finished to his satisfaction. They made the repairs and Winston's team did the painting. Kudos to both brothers for working as a team and their professionalism. We may not have discovered an issue for a few years. They fixed it and I think let go one of the employees. The kitchen ceiling repair took much longer than expected, but no additional charges. Their work was very good and there was very few spots of paint (very hard for ceiling work). The three (Winston had a great suggestion regarding accent walls) paints in the master bedroom came out beautiful!!!!

They were great. They did a great job, friendly, on time stayed within the estimate and I highly recommend them.

I highly recommend Kirby painting. I had five different bids for this job and Winston took the most time to sit and talk with me about the job. He obviously cares deeply about his work and about doing the best job possible. His bid was not the lowest, but not the highest either. I think he's priced very competitively. Originally, we were going to have to wait two weeks till the job could be scheduled, but he had an opening in his schedule which allowed him to fit us in the same week as the bid. He and his crew were on time, very professional, polite and cleaned up after themselves. We asked a lot of questions and Winston was always very patient with us. He's a true professional and a gentleman. He cares about his work, his professional reputation and his customers. I recommend him highly and when it comes time for us to paint the rest of our interior, I won't hesitate to call him again. The first time I used Kirby Painting was upon moving into my new home. We had a water leak in the first week & needed minor repairs from that. I also added crown molding which his crew painted. After interviewing several contractors I was most comfortable with Mr. Kirby, & his value was exceptional. He squeezed us in on a weekend, & even with an unexpected death in his extended family that Friday he was there with his crew Saturday morning making sure they were set up on time and knew what they were doing. He continued to check in periodically and addressed my concerns over a few nail heads that were not caulked to my satisfaction and had his crew caulk and repaint these areas. When it came time to have a rental property I own refurbished, I again turned to Mr. Kirby. Despite having surgery a week before, he showed up on the scheduled day and finished the job ahead of schedule.

After joining Angie's List, I decided to see what it would cost to paint the inside of my house. After reviewing the notes on Kirby's past jobs, I decided to have him bid the job. I was surprised the cost wasn't that much so I added two rooms that really didn't need painting. Winston returned my phone calls and kept me informed of when he would be able to start the job. He was able to complete the job in 5 days and did an outstanding job. While they were painting, you could begin to see where the crown molding was separating from the ceiling so they were able to correct those issues. I also needed sheet rock repaired in the garage where I had a leak along with the back door frame to be primed and painted. After he painted all the trim work downstairs, the door stood out so he painted the door so it would match all the other trim work. He also was able to match the trim work to the exact color.

Winston and his crew were excellent. He was extremely sensitive to putting everything back where it belonged and cleaning up. They were on time and made sure we understood where they were in the project. We are very pleased with the results.
