+ -1 moreVery well, they cleaned the rug and did enzyme treatment. They told me to call if the smell wasn't completely gone. It was a pretty bad stain, and I ended up calling them. They cheerfully came back, and did another enzyme treatment at no additional charge.
Description of Work: Our wool area rug had been stained by dog pee. Apparently once there is a spot, even house trained dogs feel free to use the spot again. I've used K and M for carpet and rug cleaning, and they have always done a good job. I can schedule a time quickly, they show up at the appointed time, are professional and knowledgable.

They were prompt and nice, the cleaning was thorough and much less than i've paid other vendors, and while they offered stuff like stain protection there was no hard sell when I said no. On the carpet repair, because the carpet in my closet is not the same color, it was impossible to do a perfect repair (which I knew), but they suggested a good makeshift where I really thought they would not be able to do anything, and the result is SO MUCH BETTER and a huge improvement, I am absolutely delighted.

I've tried more than a dozen carpet cleaners in Austin — some charging far more than K&M — and I've always been fully satisfied with the service this company provides. The office staff is fantastic, and the teams that come to clean are always professional, courteous, and competent — not to mention punctual. At this point, I have no reason to ever go with another carpet cleaner.

+ 2 moreK&M was fast and reasonably priced, especially for the steam cleaning part. The satillo tile floors took an extra day, but they shine like I've never seen them before. They did a really impressive job on that. Overall, they spent a lot of time on all my floor surfaces, and they look fantastic.
Description of Work: K&M steam cleaned my carpets, shined my old engineered hardwood floor, and stripped and resealed our satillo tile.

+ -1 moreOverall they did a pretty good job even though they seemed to work very quickly and didn't listen to my wishes concerning the chairs. Several days after the carpet had dried I did notice that the edges of my off-white carpeted stairs were still a little "dingy" looking, but maybe that's impossible to get out (I don't know).
Description of Work: I got an estimate over the phone for 6 rooms of carpet & my stairs. I also had Scotchguard put on three rooms & the stairs. When getting my estimate I mentioned that I had 5 cream colored upholstered dining room chairs that were stained, and I wondered if they cleaned chairs. They said they did. I told them that I was considering reupholstering the chairs if they couldn't remove the greasy stains, so I would prefer that they just try to clean one of the chairs to see the results before doing them all. I didn't want to pay to clean them all if I would have to end up reupholstering them later! When the technician, Billy, arrived I explained this to him as well. Even though I told him my preference to try cleaning only one chair first, he insisted that he could get the stains out, & proceeded to clean all 5 chairs, along with Scotchguarding (total of $45). As they were getting ready to leave I could already tell , even though the chairs were still wet, that the stains on the chairs appeared to still be there, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited until the next day when they were dry. The stains remained on all the chairs so I called the office to see if they could reimburse me for the cost of the "unnecessary" cleaning of 4 of the chairs (I agreed to pay for the one they would have test cleaned). They said they would check into it for me. When I called back later to find out what they'd decided, I was told that since I was offered such a good deal already, they couldn't deduct the cost of cleaning & Scotchguarding the chairs. I realize that this loss wasn't a huge amount of money & they did get a stain out of my dining room carpet that had been there for a year, but I wish the technician had been a little more professional about how he handled the cleaning of the chairs & listened to my wishes before boldly assuring me that the stains would come out!!

Ken went out of his way to work with my schedule, the techs who did the work were on time, courteous, professional, and did a great job. The service was a great value, too, and saved me from having to replace my carpet just yet.
Description of Work: In a 5x5 foot area, carpet was pulled up, concrete subfloor was cleaned and sanitized, old padding was removed, new padding and tack strip were installed. In 3 rooms, carpet was cleaned. Upholstered sofa and loveseat were cleaned.

+ 0 moreUpdate: The company responded to my review and a different team came out a week later to fix the few remaining sections that were loose. The carpet looks very good. The company cares about the quality of work it is providing. About the seams: they said the seams usually become more visible after the work is done, which I expect, but I still wonder if one seam in particular couldn't be done better, because it is so apparent. You do pay for each seam that is done. Original review: The carpet repair is way too expensive for the quality of work that you get. There were two guys, one doing the stretching and one doing the cleaning. The guy doing the stretching missed a lot of spots where the carpet had bubbles or was loose and needed to be stretched, but not forming wrinkles yet. He did fix the places I pointed out. I give them a C for professionalism, because when I was asking the one guy to fix the spots that he missed, the other guy who was in charge of cleaning the carpets responded "How are you going to pay?", wanting payment before the work was done and obviously wanting to rush things. The carpet seams are very evident now, where they were not before. No special tools like a power stretcher are required. Only a carpet kicker and a scissors are needed. I suggest that if you pay as much as I did, find somebody who only does carpet installation and repair, and not cleaning.
Description of Work: The carpet throughout the house needed to be stretched because it was forming wrinkles. Then it needed to be steam cleaned.

+ -1 moreI initially called to schedule a carpet cleaning for the following day but was pleasantly surprised to find out that they were able to come out on the same day. I was given a 2 hour window and before the gentlemen came I received a follow up call to confirm the appointment. The two gentlemen that arrived were very courteous and respectful and made me feel at ease. They were quick and did a great job. The only thing I noticed was a small amount of water left in front of each room after they finished that I had to take care of. The best part was that I could look and smell the carpet and tell it was very clean, which is essentially what I was after. I also got a great deal! I would definitely use them again!

+ 0 moreThe owner Ken Moncebaiz was so completely rude while I was trying to obtain a quote that I would not let him within 15 feet of my house. He was condescending, know it all, wouldn't work with me on a time after work, and would only supply me a multi hour timeframe like the cable company. Their prices are OUTRAGEOUS. $60 for 1 room or $69 for 3. I only have 1 room of carpet (the rest is wood), so how does this help me? Plus $119 to clean the sofa, my other company did it for $99 and did a fantastic job. For better service and rates, I found another steam cleaning company.

+ -1 moreThe workers called ahead, showed up on time, and did an efficient, good job. I just wanted basic cleaning for the area rugs, rather than the hand scrubbing companies usually do. The typical charge for area wool rugs is very expensive, so I was happy to get a better price. The rugs looked and smelled much better after the cleaning.

+ -1 moreI do not believe that K&M have complete enough knowledge of what it takes to remove different kinds of odors. I called K&M to ask if they had the means to remove an overpowering perfume smell that had permeated an mattress from overuse of fabric softener in washing the mattress cover and then putting it back on the mattress. I said that I had already tried several remedies as well as leaving the mattress out to air for several weeks. I also said I absolutely did not want something that masked the odor. I only wanted something that removed the odor. Ken assured me that the product he used was just that - an odor remover. We made an appointment. His crew arrived on time. They were professional, careful and they knew how to use the equipment. When they finished, the odor was even stronger, so I agreed to pay extra for an application of enzymes. I was assured that in about 2 hours the odor would dissipate. It did not and when I called back the next day, with no argument, the crew was sent out again. However, they were going to re-apply the same product which did not work the first time. This made no sense to me so they did just a minimal steam clean at no charge. I told them I was not pleased since I had been told by K&M that the perfume could be removed and it had not been. Shortly after they left, the doorbell rang and one of the crew member said for an extra $125.00, they could apply some stronger agent that removed smoke. I was not interested in paying more since by that time it was obvious to me that no one there knew how to remove perfume odor, which I had made very clear what I wanted removed when I called in the first place. I eventually was able to find someone who knew what agent to use to remove the smell of perfume, and once the correct agent was used, the smell went right away.

+ -1 moreCleaned carpets prior to us moving into the house. They did a fairly good job. There was a stain that we didn't notice prior to move in that was still there after they cleaned. They were very fast but we were concerned that they were not doing as good a job as they could. We had not used a carpet cleaning service before to know how quickly they could get through it so don't count it against them. We would use them again considering the price was great and they were very responsive. We'd certainly get the stain guard for the extra cost in the future. They used a van-based vacuum.

+ -1 moreFast, simple scheduling of service. Crew showed up on time and got to work. Job complete in 90 minutes (mainly because the house was vacant so there was no furniture to move). Charged exactly as promised initially. Compared to several other steam cleaning services I've used, K&M were up to par compared to the competition (I reserve "A" for above average).
