Great, it saved us probably $150-200 not having to hire anyone, but doing the work ourselves.

He came to our house and confirmed washer leak and found rusting foot on washer floor. Suggested we had a few months to find a new washer (which he does NOT sell) as that damage is not repairable. Discussed with him types he works on and lack of quality (per online reviews) new washers now come with.

I called James about an issue I was having with my dishwasher and explained the problem on his voicemail. He called me back within hours, and gave me two simple things to try to resolve my issue, and what was probably causing it it. He was right on, and I was able to resolve my issue without any service call at all. James could have easily come out and charged me for the simple fix, but helped me at no charge. I'll definitely be using him for my future repair needs!

Our washing machine had been experiencing a slow leak into the tub for several months. We called JCB - a company we have used before - to do the repair. James Beardsley arrived when he promised, completely the repair quickly and successfully, and charged a reasonable price. In addition, he gave us a few pointers about what to do to prevent further problems with the machine. The bottom line - a professional job from start to finish.

It went well. They did the job; he did what he said he would do. Nearly a year later we haven't had any other issues with it & are very pleased to have had it replaced.

I called Mr. Beardsley to make an appointment. I had never used his services before yet over the phone he offered advice on how to the get ice maker working again without him having to make a house visit and without any charge. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I will definitely use him in the future when I have appliance problems.

I left a message, he returned my call, and he gave me some things to try on both the washer and dryer so that he wouldn't have to come out and charge me for 10 minutes worth of work. I did what he told me to and so far things are back to normal.

James came out to take a look. He suspected that there was an incorrect pin used in the hinge which he had to order. He ordered it, called me back to schedule a follow up, fixed it, and it's been working smoothly ever since.

He gave great advice from him and pointed us in the right direction.

After finally hearing from him on Tuesday, he told me that he won't service my home. His service area ends 5 minutes from my house. He admitted that he should probably post his service area on his website etc. He won't go 5 additional minutes for a new customer. I found that he wasn't very professional. He made me very upset. On the phone he sounded good/professional, but turns out he wasn't. Very disappointing.

He had previously repaired it, but this time he let me know that it needed to be replaced. It was old, an expensive part was broken, and just needed to be replaced for the cost. We have hired him several times between out two rental.

I called James Beardsley after seeing his reviews here at Angie's List. I recently inherited a "fixer-upper" and two eyes on an old electric drop-in stove had stopped working. He informed me that he no longer works in the Round Rock area, but took the time to explain what might be wrong with my stove and my options for repair and possible costs. He then referred me to another company that he knew could handle the job. I really appreciate the time he took to help me when he knew he wouldn't be making a penny.

Found Mr. Beardsley on Angie's List and because of the rave reviews, I called him to see about repairing a 9 year old gas stove that had begun to have temperature regulating problems. He called back within 10 minutes of my voice message and was very professional relaying a ton of information about what was involved in the repair of my stove, ending by saying it was too costly to repair and I'd be better off buying a new one. He even gave me an estimate of the cost of one of the parts for my stove and after we hung up I looked in the folder and found that the same part had been replaced 4 years ago and it was the exact price he quoted! Man knows his stuff and was so generous with his time and knowledge when he wasn't even making a dime for it. Outstanding integrity.

With an unexpected washer tub full of water, James was responsive to my call and communicated back when he wasn't able to provide same-day service. He arrived the next morning, got the tub to empty and provided an understandable and honest assessment. The 14 year old washer repair was not worth it. James recommended a brand of washer and a couple of family-owned appliance businesses. Who enjoys making those purchases, but I felt like I received professional guidance. I also appreciated his energy and appreciation of his Angie's List customers.

This was my first experience with Angie's List and it was a home run! My overall experience with James C Beardsley Appliance Service was exceptional. Mr. Beardsley is an honest businessman with an old fashioned sense of customer service.

Experience with Mr. Beardsley went very well. Contacted by e-mail through his website and by telephone, and he was very responsive, arriving in about two hours after first contact. He found that the problem was a defective fan that cicrulates cold air throughout the refridgerator. Ordered the part and installed by 9AM the next morning. Attempted to limit cost by using part of the old fan assembly but had to replace the overall assembly. Efficient and friendly service. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SERVICES OF MR. BEARDSLEY. Gem.

The overall experience was great. He returned my call within 5 minutes of me leaving a message. He scheduled me for next day service and was out the next morning. He gave me a courtesy call before arrival and then he took only 20 minutes to fix the oven (a small piece of foil had lodged on one of the parts). He was very nice and professional!

We have a Maytag washer/dryer set we purchased 13 years ago. A few years ago the washer developed a LOUD squeal whenever a spin cycle ended - and we had a serviceman out to investigate. We were told it was the brakes and the repair was very expensive. Since the issue was not damaging the machine or the clothes, only our nerves/ears... we opted to hold off on the repair. Fast forward a few years to a few weeks ago - and we (and our appliances) move into a new home. We entertain the idea of purchasing a shiny new set, but after reading the reviews and seeing the price decide to keep our squealing machine, repairing it if possible. I found James on Angie's list and called him. He knew immediately by my washer model number the squeal I was experiencing... and advised me not to repair it. While the noise is annoying, it is not damaging the machine or our clothes... and in his experience the new brake kits he would install were probable to begin the squealing within a few months to a couple of years. An expensive repair that is only a temporary fix of a purely annoyance problem. "I know what the problem is...how to fix it... but I advise you not to do the repair because it isn't worth the cost." How many repair guys would tell you that? All this by phone without paying a dime. James earned my trust. So just a couple of days later when my dryer decided the move had been just too h****** it and quit heating - I immediately called James back. He was out that same day and found some of the wires had apparently become loose during the move. He tightened all the wires and my dryer is heating better than ever. I paid him for the service call and said good-bye. However, the move must've been really h****** my 13 year old washer/dryer set. Because now "up and running" my laundry loads, my washer (the very same one I had decided could squeal it's little heart out and it was ok) NOW decided to make a NEW noise, more like someone dropped a bag of bolts into the motor. This was certainly not the brakes and sounded bad. James came out that day and after only minutes inside the machine told me it was the pump - and not to run another load or the pump could decide to s*** the water out instead of pump it on through. He would look up the part and call me with the prognosis for the repair. Later that day James called me with the price of the repair ($215) - but rather than run on out he recommended I at least take a look at the new machines so I was making an informed decision. He referred me to a local appliance shop whose prices and reputation he trusted. He said he would be glad to repair my Maytag - but because of it's age he just wanted to make sure I did my due-diligence for deciding to repair-vs-replace. I did decide to repair. I love my old set. They look great, clean great... and from what I read the new HE machines limit the quantity of water I can have and the temperature of even the "hot" water - and I wash cloth diapers. So I need LOTS of HOT water to sanitize them. And shelling out $1500-$2000 for a new set right now that won't even clean as well seems, well, ridiculous. James came this morning and put in my new pump and I just ran my first load. I closed the laundry door so I don't even hear the brakes squeal... and my clothes are fresh and clean. For $215 rather than $2000. I'd say that's a repairman worth having!

Very well. The stove recovered and is working fine.

My tenants called to complain that their dishwasher wasn't working. I called James, gave him their contact info, and told him to proceed with any repair under $100, otherwise check in with me on the cost of repair or replacement. I got a text from my tenants the next day saying that one (free) phone call with James and they got the info they needed to get the dishwasher running again like new. It turned out to be nothing major, just clogged jets. James was prompt and professional. I'm writing this review now because I'm looking up his info to contact him again about another appliance with issues.

Very satisfied with the queality and timeliness of his service! We will use James again in the future.

James was able to figure out the problem from my description over the phone. He came with the materials he needed to do the repair. He came the day after I called. He was able to call me in advance of his arrival so I could met him. I have been recommending him to all of my friends. He was honest, reliable and friendly. He even got along with the dog!

He did it very expeditiously and conscientious about the fact that things were beginning to thaw. He ordered the parts and got to me the next day. He came back later today check the work before he received his pay. I was overall pleased and very pleased with the amount that O was charged.

He called me back promptly, showed up on time, assessed the problem and replaced the part within twenty minutes. He was pleasant and competent. I'd call him again in a heartbeat.
