Description of Work: fixed dryer at rental property. on time, honest. explained that it was a very good dryer (because it was made before they got complicated and undependable) and it was worth fixing as long as it continued to be fixable. Terrific service.

Description of Work: James previously had saved me the expense of a service call by giving me a recommendation over the phone to improve an underperforming dishwasher. This time he replaced a part in an old washing machine that we hope to keep running a while longer. He took care of it promptly at a reasonable price and was also pleasant to deal with. What more can you ask?

Description of Work: James discussed the problem with my 14 yr. old microwave over the phone with me. Then he made some calls to see if a part was still available for it and got right back to me. He would be unavailable to do repairs, so suggested another local repair shop in my general area that works on microwaves. While the part was not available, this saved me time and helped me determine whether to spend anymore time trying to repair or simply buying new. He was very helpful and professional. I would recommend him and will call him in the future.

Description of Work: Mr. Beardsley replaced a sensor on my washing machine on his first visit, on July 3rd, but I had problems again on the 16th. This time it was the drive link. He didn't charge me for the service call on the second visit (since he'd serviced the same washer less than two weeks prior), which I really appreciated! He was punctual, friendly, efficient; couldn't ask for much more!

Description of Work: Service call to check the dryer which was stalling out; James took a look at it, checked the voltage, and told me that we needed a new dryer ("I could charge you a bunch of money, but it wouldn't fix it.") He then told me how to find a great, inexpensive dryer.

Description of Work: Mr. Beardsley promptly replied on my Angie messaging system & called me when he said he would, the next morning as I had made the request late on Sunday evening. Even though he couldn't help me with my bottom freezer type fridge, he referred me to Oak Hill Appliance, & I really appreciated his honesty. Oak Hill Appliance was out to my house the very same day and did an great job as well. I would definitely call Mr. Beardsley or Oak Hill Appliance in the future.

Description of Work: I called him & left a voicemail that my dishwasher wasn't draining even after I had cleaned the filters. He returned my call promptly, asked several questions, diagnosed the problem and sent me to Home Depot for Dishwasher Magic. Which worked! Even though he didn't earn the fee for a service call this time, he can count on my using him again when the next problem arises.

Description of Work: While Mr Beardsley never set foot in my house, he told me honestly that the repair he suspected for my gas range would cost more that it was worth for a 10 yr old appliance. I'm impressed enough with that to say hire this guy!

Description of Work: How do you get an 'A' without fixing the problem? Here's how. I found James on AL and called him to repair a Sears Kenmore refrigerator. He came as scheduled and replaced a condenser fan. The fridge worked fine for a day or two. I called him again and he came out that same morning. He discovered that the fridge had a failed control board, and he was not able to secure a replacement. He wrote me a check for a full refund, and suggested that I needed to call Sears. So....James charged me $0.00 for two service calls and the fan. I called Sears and told them the exact story. They sent out a repair man, who in five minutes told me that he couldn't get the part either, that he would have to remove the board, send it back for repair, and that we would be without a fridge for two weeks. Cost for that call = $75.00.

Description of Work: My dryer would not shut off and I called James Beardsley to come out and take a look. Mr. Beardsley spoke to me twice on the phone. He first suggested a way to determine whether the problem was with the dryer or with the duct. After determining that it was with the dryer, he asked more questions about the problem and told me that he could diagnose it over the phone. He told me that the cost of repair would be about half the cost of a new dryer, and based on the age of the appliance, he recommended buying new. In addition, he gave me a tip on how to improve the performance of my dishwasher, which was not cleaning as well as it used to. I was very impressed with his willingness to give advice over the phone in an effort to save me the cost of a service call. I will most definitely call him the next time I need an appliance repaired.

Description of Work: I have a 25+ year old oven that was misbehaving. The broiler coil was turning on when the bake coil should have. I have replaced the baking coil myself several times. James told me over the phone what to check to fix, and his instructions worked. He said he didn't want to come out and charge me a service call because the oven was so old. We are planning on remodeling the kitchen and did not want to have to buy an" interim" stove. Good job James!

Description of Work: I called James Beardsley and several other appliance repair numbers and left a message on each. James called me back right away. After I explained the problem with my washing machine, he diagnosed the repair but said that he couldn't do it. He then proceeded to give me other names of repairmen who could repair my machine. I ended up using one of them and was pleased. James was very professional and extremely helpful.
