I called Mr. Beardsley on Tuesday, 4/24/2012 to request a service call for my freezer's ice maker. I left a message and at the end of the day, he returned my call. I explained that my ice maker quit making ice and that the water tube kept freezing up. The four times that it happened, I got my hair dryer and thawed out the tube and it made ice again. This last time it didn't. Mr Beardsely said he would try to make it the next day but most likely would be able to come on the day after. The following morning, he called around and left a message at 8:30am stating that he was in the area at another job and could come after that. At 9:15am he called back and this time I was able to answer. He said he could come that morning, and could be there in 20 min if it was convenient for me. It was and he came right over. He was very professional, got straight to the problem, and was able to deduce that the motor on the ice maker had burnt out. He even had me smell it to confirm the demise of motor. I was extremely happy that he was prepared and had a replacement on his truck. He installed the new motor, put everything back in my freezer the way he found it and also, explained the process of how long it would take before I could expect cubes to fall. He was gone by 10am. I was very pleased with the professionalism, punctuality, and knowlege of Mr. Beardsley and would not hesitate to call him again for any other problems. I would also recommend his services to anyone. He's a diamond in the rough!!!

Our dryer was making a weird clunking noise. I called James in the morning and he was able to come out in the afternoon. It turns out there was a screw loose, and he could even tell the problem over the phone. He fixed the problem efficiently, professionally and affordably. I would definitely recommend his service and use him again.

I called, left a message. Mr. Beardsley returned the call and we arranged for Tuesday the 17th. (I could arrange to take off from work to be home for repair work by that time.) He said he would call before arrival. Tuesday arrived, but Mr. Beardsley did not, nor did he call. I lost a day's pay, and my washing machine was not repaired. Very disappointed.

My refrigerator was not working properly, it cooled but the door gaskets were very hot to the touch. I called James with this information on Monday afternoon, we discussed a couple of probable causes and he brought the equipment to fix either of the issues on Tuesday. He is knowledgeable, efficient, cost effective and understands the time constraints we are all under. I absolutely recommend him for your large appliance repairs.

James was excellent and an absolute pleasure as well. What a super nice guy. My refrigerator had stopped cooling. He came out almost immediately as he said, "A broken refrigerator is an emergency". He determined that it was simply that the door wasn't closing right since the hinge mechanism had worn down. He ordered the part and returned the next day to install. Two trips one charge and I live outside of the city. He also fixed the clothes dryer while he was here (an embarrassingly simple fix, but one I wasn't capable of diagnosing) at no charge. The refrigerator is working perfectly now, the dryer too.

I was very happy with the services Mr. Beardsley provided. He returned my phone call quickly, set up an appointment for the next day, called me before arriving, arrived at the agreed-upon time, quickly identified the problem (leaky pump), had the part on his truck, and had me all fixed up in about 30 minutes.

I was having problems with my 11 year old oven. I called James Beardsley based on his reviews on Angie's List. He diagnosed my oven's problem over the phone. He suggested that he research the availability of parts before he made a service call. He did, and found out that only rebuilt parts are available for my old oven. He recommended that I not repair the oven due to the cost of the parts and service call and because his experience with rebuilt parts had been poor. He could have come to my house and made a $75.00 service call, but he didn't. I appreciate that he didn't waste my time or money.

Great initial experience with James Beardsley. I called today to set up an appointment for him to come out and diagnose and repair a problem with a dishwasher that wasn't working. I was a little worried by some of the reviews, since they tended to show that he recommended replacing appliances instead of actually repairing them. James called back within 10-15 minutes of me leaving a voicemail late on a Friday afternoon. He asked me to talk through the problem with him instead of just scheduling an appointment. He seemed very knowledgeable and recommended several actions I can take now and as preventative maintenance on my own. This was all for free with no appointment. It's hard to find people these days that are willing to give personal and professional advice without charging. Update: The actions James recommended helped, but did not solve my dishwasher problem. I called James back to schedule the appointment. Unfortunately, he was about to leave on an extended vacation. He gave me a referral to a different person that he trusted.

We used the self-cleaning feature on our oven a couple of weeks ago and used the default clean cycle time of 3 hours. Toward the end of the cycle, the circuit breaker tripped. Even after I reset the circuit breaker, the oven would not heat up. I called James and he called me back almost immediately. He diagnosed the problem over the phone and told me the cost. When I approved the cost, he ordered the part and came and installed it. He also told us that this generally occurs after an appliance is a few years old and is more apt to occur during a long cleaning cycle. He suggested that a 2 hour cleaning cycle is usually sufficient and that we probably wouldn't have any problems if we used the shorter cleaning cycle.

He could fix the little problems but he recommended that we get a new appliance. It all worked out just fine.

Mr. Beardsley came out to fix my washing machine. He had to order my part, and was punctual both times he was over. Mr. Beardsley was up front and told me that the repair would fix the problem, and that there was another part that would eventually be an issue. He wanted to make sure that I still wanted to do the repair done, and make an informed decision on whether or not a new washing machine might be for us. We chose to have our washing machine fixed, and it's been running great ever since. I'm pleased with his service, professional attitude, and honesty. I would highly recommend him, and will use him again when needed.

Mr. Beardsley was on time and very courteous. Even before he came , he tried to troubleshoot over the phone to save me a service call. When he came, he gave me options and did not hurry my decision. When the part came in , he arrived at my house and quickly accomplished the repair. I would certainly use him again. He is honest and trustworthy.

I always use him for appliance repair. He is so great that he didn't have to do anything really for us. It might sound really weird but he is really awesome. He won't fix something that doesn't need to be fixed or he won't come out if he can't work on anything. I had called him regarding my dishwasher and talked to him and he also called me back. He recommended not to repair it and to get a new one. He didn't charge me for that. He is just really good. He is awesome. He came out earlier and worked on a washing machine that broke in our house about two years ago. He charged me a service charge for it. He told me that it couldn't be fixed and he won't be able to get the part. He told me it would cost me more to get the part and fix it and instead it would be better to get a new washing machine. He is really super honest and I like him. He told me that he can't rip people off and he has a conscience. I really like him. He is really good.

I spent about $300 for their service. The job went great. I would use their services in the future too.

I was very happy with him. I spent about $100 or $150 on that service that that included the labor plus the parts cost because they had to replace the whole unit. Everything was good. I used him because he had good ratings. I liked the personable scheduling and just the general communication aspect with the service arranging and describing and understanding the problem before hand. With service providers communication is what I look for.

I was desperate to find someone to fix my refrigerator on a Saturday morning. Tried several companies before this one said, no problem he would come that morning. He arrived exactly when he said he would, quickly found the problem, had the parts he needed on his truck, made the repair and had me back in business in no time. He also volunteered advice on how to do a better job at keeping my fridge maintained to reduce the need for future repairs. Great job!!

On 5/17/11 we called J.C.B.—James C. Beasley Appliances to check our Maytag washing machine because it was not spinning out the water at the end of each cycle. We surmised it was the pump that was not working correctly. Mr. Beardsley came on that day about 4:00 pm near the close of his work day (we were also gone from home until that time). He pulled off the front of the machine where the pump was housed shown his flashlight in there and agreed it was probably the pump and it probably has seen its lifespan. He indicated there was oil leaking within the body of the machine and he said it would cost over $200 to replace the pump but that it might not be sensible since the lubricant was leaking out of the primary drive mechanism of the washer. He also indicated we would probably then have to turn around within two months to buy a new machine and that repairing our machine would be a waste of money. He collected his service charge ($65.00 + tax) of $70.36 and departed. We then went online and purchased the pump for the machine ($62.05 + shipping) on 5/18/11 for $69.01. It arrived on 5/25/11 and we installed it on 5/25/11. The machine is working now and when we fully removed the front face of the body of the machine we saw a low film of lubricant at the base of the frame that would be expected for a 20+ year old machine. Upon reviewing the other reviews stated here, there are about seven customers over a six month timeframe who were told by Mr. Beardsley that their appliance was not worth fixing and they should buy a new appliance. (Some of these customers were not charged a service charge.)

I thought my refridgerator was running too often. I called to schedule appointment and from a few questions and the fact that all was cold, ice was where it was suppose to be etc, that there was nothing wrong and no service was needed. He took the time to identify and solve the problem and not charge me for something that was not needed.

My washer was malfunctioning in multiple ways, so I asked for a service call. He phoned me back to ask what was happening. I described the various problems, and he explained what each problem was and what the part would cost. Ultimately he said my money would be better spent in a new machine. He also recommended a family business that might give me a better customer experience than the big box stores, and he was right. Not only did I get a good washer at a good price, I even got an upgrade for the same price because they were backordered. I plan to call him when I have future appliance issues.

Terrific. I have a lot of confidence in him and will always turn to him for my major appliance repairs.

James was prompt, friendly and professional and his prices were very reasonable. He also looked at a troublesome dishwasher and gave a detailed assessment of why it wasn't worth my time and money to repair it (which he could have attempted and charged me for) I thought he was extremely honest and professional and I would happily use his services again
