Shingles were delivered just before we got all the rain this summer, so the start date was delayed by ~3 weeks, but this was reasonable given the weather. Contractor took great care not to start the job if there was a likely possibility of rain - thank you. Roofing crew (~5 guys) arrived ~9:00am on the agreed date and went straight to work. The crew was very careful not to drop anything when it was necessary for anyone to leave or enter the house - we were careful, too. OK, I'll admit that I did go out and check to see if they were cutting corners anywhere cuz that's the kind of guy I am. I even sat in my office counting pops from the nail gun to make sure they were using the right number of nails per shingle. They only took 3 or 4 breaks all day, one of those was for lunch. The roof was finished after 8pm and they did a reasonably good job of cleaning up all of the big debris and almost all of the small stuff. The sales/tech guy came by the next day to double-check the work and make sure there were no potential leaks. I pointed out one concern I had regarding a rain divert-er that the crew had re-used which appeared, from the ground, to have a low spot which could hold water and he corrected the issue while he was there. I don't know that there actually was an issue, but he made me feel like I was heard and did what he could to make me happy. The sales/tech guy asked if he could leave their sign in the yard for a week and told me he would come by and pick it up. It was gone a week later. Some of my neighbors still have signs from their roofing contractors propped against the side of their garage months after their roofing jobs were completed by other contractors. I did continue to find nails in the yard every time I looked for the next several days, but I don't think that is unreasonable, and I discovered a pile of granules from the old roof that weren't swept off one window sill ~8 feet off the ground, but my biggest complaint about the whole job was that while using a blower to blow granules off the back patio they actually blew granules into the kitchen, under the sliding door. Not really that big of a deal. The bottom line: I'm very happy with the work and I would use J-Conn again, even though they were not the lowest bid. Just FYI: I had four bids ranging from $7K to $10K.

Contacting the company is a pleasure. An informed representative answers the phone and takes down the initial information. From there, you can tell that each person you speak with is experienced, polite and professional. The company was very responsive to my inquiries and even patient with any changes I made. Their price was unbeatable and their attentiveness to detail was surprising. They started this major job one day and were done by the end of the second day... amazing in itself. The completed job exceeded my expectations and looks fantastic. The company did a thorough cleaning of the grounds surrounding the property in addition to contacting me after the job was done to assure all my expectations were met. It just doesn't get any better than that. Highly recommended.

We had three other estimates and J-Conn Roofing was by far the most professional company to deal with. The work was great and their clean up was perfect. I've known Jon Connor since 1981, when I first used his company JConn for a roofing job; in all, I've used them no less than 5 times, on roofing for 3 different homes over the years (three full roofs, and two repair jobs (prior, not subsequent ;) ) He is honest, good to work with, and devoted to good quality. The when I had hail damage, he was very busy but I didn't feel lost in the shuffle. He was knowledgeable about the insurance issues and worked well with the insurance company. JConn is not the cheapest roofing company in town but I think the value-for-money is first rate because of the quality of their work.

I called for a reroof estimate due to hail damage. I received an estimate within two days. They did a very professional Job. They guided us on dealing with our insurance. The crew was clean cut and polite.

From start to finish, J-Conn did an excellent job. Everything from the bid process to the final inspection was prompt & professional. I highly recommend J-Conn Roofing.

They came by as promised and then were very quick to mail a professional estimate which included references and their company insurance info. I was impressed with the professionalism and would give them a good reccomendation based on first impressions.

I had a lot of concerns with the paper work of the insurance company, so I called J-Conn. They looked at it and deciphered it for me. The lady at J-Conn called me back after she found the mistakes done by the insurance company, which resulted in me getting a little bit more money. They were good about taking the time to make sure that I got the right shingles. When they came out, they were very careful about not making a mess. There are a lot of nails and shingles that come off the roof, so they parked the trailer close by. They got everything in to the trailer. Everything went very well, so I was pretty impressed and happy with their work. They were several notches above other service providers.

I called and specifically asked if they did metal roofs. They sent a person out the next day. He was nice but seemed a little confused and not interested in taking on our large metal roof. He again confirmed that they did metal roofs and he would be sending me an estimate. No estimate and then I get a phone message from them that they "don't do metal roofs" and gave me the number of some other company they recommended. I do not like to be lied to! If they didn't want to do the job because it was too big, etc. they should have told me the real reason so I could at least have something to go to the insurance adjuster with! Very unprofessional, disappointing and my first bad experience with a company on Angie's list.

I requested a bid from them from their web site, and I never heard back from them. Ever. So much for J-Conn... ~sigh~

They were on-time and stayed on budget; however, they butchered the area where they were working. Because some flashing was damaged, they removed siding from a very small area, replaced the flashing, and put the boards back in place. The boards were badly damaged and look horrible. The decking still looks warped. When I talked to the owner, he basically said that they did nothing wrong and that it was my responsibility to repair the siding in that area. I sent him detailed pictures of the damaged area and he continued to claim no responsibility. Granted the roof doesn't leak anymore but I would have expected at least a little courtesy since they did visible damage. I would never use them again.

They were clean cut, professional and right on time. We paid for the service after it was completed and we would recommend them. They were also insured which was a bonus.

They were good to work with. They cleaned up after themselves and were very respectful. I would use them again if I needed too. They did a good job.

It went great. They very patiently provided us with multiple quotes while we decided what kind of roof and shingles we wanted. They were a little backed up due to the hail storm, but gave us plenty of time to schedule our dogs in a kennel for the day they were going to work (our dogs freak out when people are on the roof). They completed the roofing in one day (all our neighbors roofs - smaller than ours - took 3 or more days to complete). They couldn't finish the skylight in the same day as they had trouble getting a standard skylight to fit, so they sent out another crew the next business day to fit and install the skylight.

Our roof is multi-sectioned and so complex that we had one company refuse to even give an estimate. J-Conn was polite and helpful when I had questions. The job took three days. Day one all the supplies were delivered. Day two, they replaced the majority of the roof. On day three they coordinated with an air conditioning company to remove the roof mounted A/C units, replace the badly damaged roof under them, and replace the units. They provided pictures of the inspection and of the damage to the sub-roofing that needed to be replaced. My only small complaint is that mid-job clean-up wasn't very good. They left some old drip edge behind the house, and there were old shingle pieces left in the trees. At the end of the job all the trash was removed.

I didn't use the company because the price was too high.

The office worked long and hard with me on selecting shingles, providing me with new, detailed bids each time I proposed a new type. The bids were wonderfully detailed as to exactly which services and steps would be done, so I felt very confident that it'd go well without my babysitting. (Other companies gave me vague bids or just numbers over the phone.) Roofing went fast and clean-up was great.

It went great. I emailed for an estimate and they called me the same day. They came and did the estimate a day or two later (a day of my choosing). The man who came and did the estimate was very professional, thorough and even offered to do two versions of estimates (partial vs total replacement). I got some other estimates that took longer to respond. The other two estimates I got were a little lower ( $500 to $1000) but were less clear about additional charges and markups due to rotten wood and labor. Based on the experience with the estimator and the good reports on Angie's List, I decided to pick J-Conn and I am very happy with the job. And the final bill contained no surprises.

I suppose it went OK, but since this report was posted I was bullied by the company who threatened to sue me for slander.

Very nice quote packet. Lots of handouts and stuff to look at but they lost us on the price. Too expensive.

They did a great job did everything they said they would sent an inspector out after the job and before billing.

J-Conn Roofing & Repair Service was very responsive and professional. I trust them and believe they are very honest because they could have told us we needed a new roof, when actually all we needed was some patching. I think they are a very straightforward, good quality company.

I had to call them over and over to get the estimate after they had come out. The estimate ended up being $5,260 and I had it repaired by another company for $800.

The appraiser came when he said he would. He was courteous and knowledgeable when answering my many questions. There was additional work that needed to be done, which he had explained before that might be necessary. He brought out samples of the different color and types of shingles so I could actually see the choices there were to pick from. The job was done in one day, the yard was cleaned up and I would definitely recommend this company to someone needing to have roofing work done.

Called and a man came over and went up on my roof. I received an estimate and photos of the damage and faxed back a signed contract. Men came and did the work when I wasn't home. Received a bill which clued me in on the work having been completed.
