I was very impressed with the auditor who came to our house. He spent time looking at the ductwork and insulation in our attic, as well as our door and windows. It turns out that our home is already fairly efficient due to improvements made by the previous owners, and the auditor didn't try to push services on us that we didn't need. He made a few minor suggestions that we could tackle ourselves, but was not pushy in any way. Overall I was impressed that he did a thorough audit job. He was very professional, asked detailed questions, and was quite helpful in answering my questions. I can't speak to the actual remedial work that GCO does, but if you you're thinking about an energy audit, these guys will shoot straight with you.

Green Collar tech arrived on time and explained the workscope and started the work till completed. The techs cleaned up after the job.

It went well. There was some leakage of insulation into my water heater closet. They came very promplty to fix that. The only point of confusion was that I had expected they would add some insulation material to my pull-down attic steps...which they did, but not what I had expected. They did look at it adn said there was nothing more they could do.

I called Green Collar Operations in June 2010 for one of several estimates on adding insulation to my home. I was aware that I needed additional insulation from the inspection on the home prior to purchasing it. Their office and scheduling staff were the best of the companies that I called. They were very professional. They were prompt and easy to work with on the scheduling. Adam Eastberg came to me home for the estimate. He was so much more thorough and professional than any of the other people who came out for estimates. He was able to explain several different options and took enough time to answer my questions. He promptly had an estimate ready and emailed it to me also. Green Collar was not my cheapest estimate, but I felt far more confident in them than the companies. In the end, I had additional insulation blown into my attic and I also decided to have them install a solar fan ($850) to keep attic temperatures down. I debated on radiant barrier, but thought I would start with these measures and assess my bills over a few years. The crew who came out to do the installation was also great to work with. The guys were young, but they got right to work and didn't mess around. They were friendly, hard-working, and quick! They answered a lot of my questions along the way too. Green Collar also worked with me to schedule the final inspection so I would be eligible for rebates. That was also painless! I had some of the rebate checks in hand within 3-4 months. One year later, I can't tell a tremendous difference in my heating and cooling bills but my house is pretty new. With our extreme temeratures in 2010 and 2011, I don't know if it is realistic to expect that I would. I was worried that I would hear the solar fan in the attic, but they assured me that I wouldn't and I don't! They were right! Overall it seems much quieter in my home, so the insulation and sealing that was done on the doors must have helped. This was a very good experience from start to finish!

The price was $1600, but there was a rebate. I thought they did well. They were punctual, professional and did their work efficiently.

They seemed like a better organized company. They came by and offered to do a free energy evaluation. They found a lot of things that needed to be fixed which was not surprising most of which I was already aware of. They sent me a report showing the energy efficiency in the home is not great and we can approve it for you. They seemed to be putting a lot of effort into a coming up business which is fine and I don't want to take the importance from them. They can carry on their marketing. I think they did a good job with the work that they did. They were punctual and got everything done with a fairly short period done. They were a few things that I thought they could have explained about the things that they did. They replaced a lot of the air vents with different types of air vents and they didn't give me any explanation about what I needed to do to work this particular air vents. When they left the air vents were blocking up all the air into certain rooms and the air was flooding into certain rooms. In the bedroom where they didn't install the air vents it was freezing cold and everything else was kind of warm. I had to pull the plastic center stand to actually get it to open up then they began to cool off a little bit. Overall they were a good company.

It went OK. Nothing special.

I closed on this home in December and moved in shortly there after. The second floor was extremely hot as it has a southern exposure. The previous owners had never done anything about that. They did a pretty good job, but I was unhappy with a few things. The first floor of my home is all wood floors, and they damaged them in the my two entry ways with their equipment. I told the company and the owner came out to look at it. The owner agreed to pay for the carpet cleaning. He said that he couldn't even see the dirt, but he did still pay for it. On the wood floors there were some scratches, to which he did send someone out to refinish it--it worked well. The guy he sent out was one of the original workman and I was familiar with him. I was waiting for a reimbursement check for the carpet cleaning, and I just received that check this week. The guy who came out to give me an estimate was probably the best person I dealt with. Overall, my experience with them was pleasant. One thing they didn't do, which I know a lot of other companies do, is to put little booties on their feet when they walk into your home. I would have appreciated that. This is my first house, so I am paying close attention to the contractors I have in my home.

We needed to have more insulation put in. They came in to see what our energy watts were. They also tested out air leakage in the house. They put additional insulation in the attic and replaced all the rubber stripping around the doors. We were pretty happy because our energy watts went down from 20% to about 9%. We priced around and found out that their price was in line with the service that they provided. It certainly was not a bargain, but it was not expensive either. We would definitely use them again

They were very professional, organized, and responsive to my questions. I had three estimates done, and their estimate was the same as the other business I liked and cheaper than the company I did not like so I felt like the price was right. My only complaint was that I had to ask for them to do a better job sealing one of my doors. They were happy to do it, but I do not like having to ask for such things. Still, I think they are a good company and would have them do more work in the future. They were also very kind to my 70yr-old father who was micromanaging a bit.

Their integrity stood out. I had a previous audit before and the information I received from Green Collar Operations was more honest. He was a lot straighter with me, and gave me a lot more infomation so I could make a good decision. He was knowledgeable and honest. I am going to have some services done in the next couple of weeks. I just got the audit done so I could figure out what I wanted to do based on the previous opinion that I got. Their prices were better than the previous estimate as well.

They came and gave an estimate then scheduled the work. They showed up on time, were thorough, and returned promptly to fix the one issue I had with water heater closet. They submitted the rebate paperwork and were flexible in scheduling the city inspection to certify for rebate. It passed easily. Everyone is thorough and professional. There was one place on the pull-down attic stairs they did not come back to install insulation board as requested (not available in the right size when they did the initial installation), but I neglected to remind them of this and then forgot about it.

They were wonderful. They came in and told me exactly what was wrong with my home. They told me my heating ducts needed replaced. They were recommended to me by someone else that used them. They made the appointment. Being that I work Monday through Friday 7-3, my appointment needed to be after 3, and it was no problem for them to come out at 4 or 4:30. They did the work they needed to, they checked everything out and submitted their report. I had the rebates from the electricity and the gas company per their findings. They suggested I put in attic insulation, and they wanted to put in a radiant barrier, but I wasn't too keen on that because of the amount it costs.

They are professional well run organization. They do want they say they are going today. They are one of the approved contractors with Austin Energy.
