Good Guys Tree Service

The guys that came out for a quote were friendly and quoted a reasonable price. I called them mainly to cut the large dead cottonwood branches that were over my roof. As best I can remember, the conversation about the cottonwood, after they looked at it, went something like: GGTS: "We'll cut those three or four branches off." Me: "Wait, does that include the one up there that's dead?" GGTS: "Don't worry about it. We've got a small guy like a monkey - he'll clean up everything up there once he gets up there and can see it." Scheduling was a problem - I didn't hear back for over a week, then they called right as they were closing saying they'd come the next day. I rescheduled with them, but then they came at the wrong time and I wasn't there. They came in my yard and worked on some of the trees while I wasn't home. In the end, they did not cut off the highest cottonwood branch that was over the roof. The foreman put me on the phone with the owner of the company, who said it would be too dangerous. I was frustrated that there was still a large branch over the roof, since that was the principal reason I hired them. Understanding now that it was too dangerous, I made the point that it should have been made clear to me that they would not be getting all the branches. The owner said it had been made clear, and accused me of calling his best friend a liar and of trying to kill his workers. I am very unhappy with this interaction. There were a few other miscommunications that were annoying but not as big a deal. In light of these, the owner threw in an extra job (grinding a stump). The work that was completed was fine. The company was a pain in the a**.

Called for an estimate and set a date to meet. Matt VanCourt and Chris showed up on time and we reviewed the job. They gave me an estimate and I told them I'd get back with them in a few days. The following Monday I called Matt to try and set a date for the work to be done. He told me that Chris had my paperwork and will get back to me. I waited and waited. Finally I called Chris on Wednesday and he told me that Matt had my paperwork and that he will get back to me. I waited and waited. On Friday I called Matt again asking whats going on and he informed me that Chris had quit the company and that my paperwork was back at the office and he would be back in touch in the next couple of hours. I let Matt know this was my last call to him and that I will be awaiting his call when he gets back to the office. I waited and waited and I'm still waiting. The corker is that since then I've received 2 more of their flyers on my door for this company!!

I called 4 companies to get estimates to cut down a couple of trees that were too close to the house and prune 15 others, which had been neglected by the previous owner of the house and had a lot of dead branches and mistletoe. The representative of one of the companies became upset when I told him I was getting other estimates and started bad-mouthing his competitors. A big turnoff for me. Other company could not send anyone for at least a week. I had no problem scheduling an estimate from Good Guys the following day I called. They sent Matt VanCourt, his arborist, who was very courteous and professional. His estimate seemed reasonable considering all the work involved and the fact they could do it the following day. They also gave me a discount for being an Angie's List member. The following day, Gavin and his crew came and proceeded to do the work. Two would climb the trees and two would clean the ground from all the falling branches. These guys worked very hard and were good at what they were doing. They cut down the 2 trees close to the house 2 inches below ground, so I have no ugly stumps to deal with. In fact you cannot notice there were trees there before. They also pruned the rest of the trees, removed 99% of the mistletoe and cut back heavy branches growing over my roof, so that nothing heavy is now above my roof line. When they completed the work they cleaned up perfectly even the smallest twigs from the yard and air-blew the roof, gutters and driveway clean. My only suggestion to the Owner of Good Guys would be to invest in a branch mulcher machine that I've see other tree companies doing work in my neighborhood carry. It would greatly help the crews as they now have to load all the branches in an open trailer.

These guys are awesome! Arrived on time, in the rain and cold! They babied the 200 year old oak, trimmed branches off of cable wires. Trimmed and removed trees around my 2 acres, cut the oak into fireplace size, removed ALL limbs, leaves, mess, & made sure I was happy! Can't say enough about Matt who came out for the estimate, and the crew on site. I highly recommend them.

The canopies of the trees were raised and now you can really see the house! They did an excellent job cleaning up, evening raking leaves in some areas to insure that everything had been cleared from the area. Very impressed with the work and also the initial visit by Matt. Thorough and very professional.

They were very professional and answered any questions I asked..they did a excellent job and was very pleased . A day later,I think it was Chris,came out and repaired a couple of shingles that come of during the downing of the tree.I would recommend Good Guys to anyone

I first used this service this spring for tree trimming and was very pleased with their work. When the pear tree broke in half yesterday, I feared the remaining tree would fall on house or cause injury to people walking on sidewalk, especially in the high winds of today. At first they said due to high volume work they wouldn't be able to come out til the next day but we agreed to initial compromise of them coming out today to cut down tree and return tomorrow to finish job. Within the hour Matt called back saying he'd re-routed jobs and they would be out immediately to do entire job. We didn't talk price at that point as they needed to see size of tree and what it would entail which I understood. Gavin arrived promptly with his crew. He was very friendly, professional, and they were careful to cut down tree as to not injure the garden underneath nor soaker hoses at base of tree. At my request they cut up medium size branches into firewood pieces and even hauled it to backyard, neatly stacking. The total cost was 568.00 which I definitely thought was on the high side but not completely unreasonable as they had come out so immediately and especially as I watched the guy with the chain saw in the thin upper branches which were swaying in the wind! They were professional and cleaned up well. At the same time Gavin walked with me around yard to survey oak trees and what trimming they needed and gave me a very reasonable price. They are to return in a couple of weeks to do that. Good Guys are Great!

Because of the drought, there were dead limbs in the trees above my home. They were careful and thorough. The crew was on time and worked well together. And, they cleaned up all the leaves and branches .

The Good Guys crew arrived right on time and went to work without delay. They were very professional and extremely careful when dropping branches. They were fast and very thorough with clean up (blower on roof, raked yard, final walk through to get even the smallest leaves and branches). Besides all of that they were the best priced even before the Angie's List discount. I received 5 bids ranging all the way up to almost double the amount paid.

Not as well as I'd hoped after the initial consultation. During the initial service; I was advised fairly quickly that they were done. I felt like quite a few branches were missed; I pointed them out; the crew worked a little while longer. Still not completely satisfied, I waited a few weeks to avoid feeling like a "complainer" and finally reached out to the company. The owner returned my call and rescheduled the service (we played phone tag; but, he was persistent and we eventually connected). If you know EXACTLY what you want (trees trimmed x number of inches from the house, ground, etc.) the job may be completed more thoroughly. If you need to lean on their professional experience and a little bit of guidance to help you achieve your tree-trimming goals; then you may have my experience (still skeptical about the overall quality because I still have small and large branches hanging aimlessly; and to cut them would not have affected the canopy, which was one of the reasons that the crew provided as an explanation for not cutting some of the branches, initially). I was expecting that my trees would be left NEATLY trimmed ALL AROUND; based on what was needed to shape them up so that they would GROW Up. But, as I understand from the owner he/they are accustomed to customers that provide very clear, specific guidelines, as I mentioned above. Now, depending on the customer, this may or may not be a bad thing (for me it did not work out so well).

These guys were just fantastic! They were on time, pleasant, fast, and professional. The trees look amazing and when I got home you would have never known they had even worked around the house today. They made sure to clean up every last bit of the trimmings on the ground. As a matter of fact, they did trees at our house and 3 of our immediate neighbors houses. There wasn't a hint of a small branch anywhere on the ground! I HIGHLY recommend that you call The Good Guys Tree service. Great work. Pleasant, professional folks. Fair price.

Quick response by Good Guys. Removed a damaged pear tree, and ground down the trunk stump. Very reasonable price, would recommend.

Missed a few suckers on a few trees but did a beautiful tree trimming on all dozen greens and even cleared some bagged leaves that could have been picked up by garbage Will definitely use the again

Good Guys... are really Exceptional Guys. For the estimate appointment they called when they were on their way and were on time. After deciding to go with Good Guys, they were able to schedule the work for two days later. All I had to do was have the gate unlocked for them, and they were done and gone before I got home. They did a phenomenal job on the old/very large tree, it's easily 30 feet tall and they cut out all the dead limbs, trimmed it away from my and the neighbor's house, and away from the pool. They picked up all the debris in both the front yard (where it was all taken after being cut, before being hauled away) and the back yard. They felled the 3 trees without damaging the pool they were near (3 to 5 feet away) or the back fence which was closer than that. In addition to the terrific tree work, they also fixed the fence! A section near the trees of the back fence, about 20 feet long, had recently been blown over by storms. It was leaning on an old chicken wire fence behind it. When we got home, they had stood it up and nailed the planks back in to make it look normal again.

They forgot to make an appointment before they came out and I came home to find them in the backyard working. Not a big deal or problem. since I didn't know they were coming I left my dog in the yard, but they put my dog in an air conditioned truck and made sure he had water. They worked quickly trimming the trees and we liked the job they did with a few exceptions. They completely forgot a branch over my neighbor's roof. They knocked over some of my yard art and left some tree trimmings on the ground. They also really didn't trim back my trees enough to give my pool more sun. I called and spoke to Bob and he came back out to the house and agreed they had forgotten a branch and could have done a better job at clean up. He even said they would trim back two more branches to give me more evening sun over my pool. They said they would be back out at the beginning of the next week to handle the rest of the job and then gave me an estimate which was for more money to finish the job they didn't finish the first time. I was surprised he asked for more money to do the job that I had already paid for but was willing to give them the extra money to get it done. He said I would hear from them that afternoon to set up an appointment for Monday or Tuesday of the following week. Not a problem. It's been more then two and a half weeks and I've heard nothing from them at all. UPDATE..... It took them a bit to get back to me because the job manager had a family emergency and didn't pass on the information about my job, but they found out and came back to my house immediately to make things right and they were everything I expected that they would be. Emergencies happen and that is understandable and they really did care that my job be taken care of correctly and to my expectations. They were very honorable and honest. They were punctual for the estimate and early for the actual trimming. They also said they could do my hedges which they did wonderfully. Other providers have failed miserably with my hedges.

The service was prompt, courteous, and professional. They responded quickly to our initial inquiry, provided a very reasonable quote, did the job within the week, were friendly and capable, cleaned up the ground afterwards and hauled away all the cuttings. There's no question that we would hire them again and again. They're the best we've found in 28 years of home ownership! Bravo, Good Guys!

Matt, the estimator arrived on time. He listened to what I wanted done and marked the trees and took notes. He gave me an estimate which was higher than my budget. He worked with me to give a quote I could afford. I received a call from Bob. They came out while I was at work. I got home as they were finishing up. They did everything I asked for and a little more. They did a great job, cleaned up after themselves and even cleaned my gutters

It went great and we were very happy with the service. We have used them several times now.

Good Guys Tree Service came out on the 15th and gave me a cost for the work I needed done. They were able to come out the next day and do the actual work. They were quick and did exactly what i requested and then some. I would definitely call them back out if/when I need more tree trimming done. Highly recommend.

They are very good, expedient, timely and polite.

We received our estimate promptly and it was a little less than the company we used 7 years before. We switched since the other company broke a skylight and tried to deny the issue. We had no problems with Good Guys and they did a great job cleaning up our yard after trimming. We had to reschedule twice due to ice/snow storms, but we were kept well informed. They call the night before and just before they arrive which is helpful. We were very pleased with the appearance of our trees and don't have to worry about limbs crashing down on the roof -OR - bumping our heads on low hanging branches while mowing the yard.
