The receptionist was very nice. They left a bill and when I got back they had charged me for a part that was under warranty. The owner called me and explained why he would not honor the warranty. He stated he could honor the warranty, but it would cost more for the paper work to honor the warranty. I did not enjoy his tone or the fact that he called me when I asked him not to call me back that day. I would not use them again.
Description of Work: My A/C went out and it was under warranty. I saw Dash closer to my home and had a better price rating. I had to leave as they were coming to look at the unit so I was not there for the service inspection.

I got home from work to discover our upstairs AC unit was blowing hot air. I called Dash and the owners wife picked up. I explained my situation to her and that my girls 3 yrs old and 5 months old sleep upstairs and the AC unit was blowing hot air. She paged her husband. He called me within 10 minutes and then said he would send someone out. He sent Pablo out and they went through hoops to fix our AC and even in overtime charged an extremely good price. I can not say enough good about this company. I have used AC companies here in Austin and in our homes in other areas. I will never use anyone but DASH...any other company would be a waste of time. This company is a sure bet for anyone!!!!!!!!!

I decided after a few bad experiences with another a/c company which came to me by a home warrenty to search on Angie's list for a new company. I liked the reports that I was reading about Dash and felt that a local smaller company might do a better job. I have always had service agreements on my units and changed to Dash in May 09. They came out to service both units in a timely fashion and we did not have any issues at that time. Due to the hot summer, my drip pan (which was less than a year old) kept leaking rusty water thru the drain line that is located over a small portion of my roof. Please note I purchased this a/c from the previous company and it came to my attention over time that the issues were most likely created by bad service men. When I witnessed how the service man tried to patch up my supply plemum, that gave me enough to look for a new company after my service agreement expired. Pablo has been in my home twice and I find him to be very knowledgable and he always shows me what he has done and explains how things work. I learned alot with this repair and feel that all the issues have been corrected. A job well done!
Description of Work: Many items needed to be addressed due to the previous a/c company. I requested a new supply plemum and drain pain along with correcting a leak into the drain pain that created other issues. Additionally, they upgraded my float switch, added dampers and corrected air flows into two rooms.

He tried changing out a part, hoping it would work, but it didn't. He found the problem, and fixed it on the following Monday when he was able to buy a new fan from the distributor. Dave is courteous, ethical, fair, and very responsive. He's been in this business for 25 years, and he still does the work, rather than just passing it to his newer workers. This is the second thing I have had him work on for us, and I have been very happy with the quality, promptness, and price.

They let me know up front that they had a back load but would get to me to service my AC units as soon as they could. They called me the next day and did the work that afternoon. I was about 50 miles away from home when they called so I rushed home and the technician had just finished the outside units with no one home. He was very polite and worked quickly and told me everything he was doing and taught me some maintenance tasks I could do easily myself. I couldn't be happier with their service and highly recommend them.

Angies List said long wait for this company because of time of year and reputation. Was able to schedule me immediately because a.c. was running lukewarm and guests coming to stay in three days. Owner came out and did work. Was extremely friendly, worked quickly and efficiently, inspected entire, badly neglected system, and made necessary adjustments. Explained what he was doing and why. Gave information to assist in knowing how to properly maintain system in future. Fast, friendly, accomodating, intelligent, high quality service oriented, knowlegeable, quiet and unassuming, put me at ease immediately and left me feeling well cared for. I've hired some well-known mechanical, plumbing, electrical, painting, etc. companies (I own two homes, two small office buildings, and four rental houses) and at least half have been okay to good, the rest not so much. Compared to the best of these, Dash is not just good, they're outstanding. Head and shoulders above the rest. Absolutely the best service provider I've ever used.

Called late morning on July 5th (Sunday) left a message with their answering service. David (owner?) called me within 15-20 minutes and said one of his guys would give me a call when he was on his way. Pablo called about 1 or 1.5 hours later, said he'd be there in 45 minutes and was right on time. I knew what the problem was since it happened to our other A/C unit just 6 months prior: blown capacitor that starts the fan on the outside unit. The part itself is about $40 ordered online but I don't know my way around electrical devices so it was best to call a professional. Pablo did a great job. Efficient, friendly, helpful with advice on A/C stuff as well. I'd also like to say that I'm putting "I got exactly what I paid for" instead of "I got more than my money's worth" simply because it was time-and-a-half on weekends, which is reasonable considering it's their personal time. But at $260 to replace a $40 part for a total of 30 minutes it was a bit painful. I do also understand it took 45 minutes to drive one way, 30 minutes to fix, 45 minutes the other way, pay the technician, pay for gas, pay for insurance, van maintenance, etc. I suppose I just hate that it happened during the sweltering heat on July 5th on a weekend and we couldn't wait. Not really a knock against Dash, but their rates could be dropped a bit in my opinion. They did give me a $15 discount because I'm an Angie's list customer though, so that was a plus!

Based on the detail description from members of Angie's list, I contacted Dash originally to get an assessment on the upstairs unit to see if it needed replacement because it was having trouble getting cool to 80 degree I set on thermostat (the pass few week was > 100). At the means time, I aslo contacted another AC contractor for comparsion. The other contractor came out first, did a walk through to look at the system (mostly visual inspection) and provided a proposal on replacing the system. Soon as the contractor left, my other unit was not working at all. I called DASH since they were planning to be here, now it just elevated to a higher priority. David came out and asked what was done before the unit was not working, and he quicking mention maybe a switch was accidentally flipped during the walk through and turn off the system. Of course, that was the case!! So my emergency was resolved, Dave started to do a full analysis on both units. For the upstairs unit, he said since the unit never needed refrigerant before and everything else looks good, he recommended to recharge before consider other costly options. He also explains and provide some simple tips on maintenances. I'm more comfortable with David's approach, I feel others are too quick to make replacement recommendations for 5 to 6 thousands of dollars.

The property where the repair was performed is a rental and I am the out-of-state owner. Dash came in with a bid that was about half the amount of the bid from HVAC service contracted by our property management company. They performed the work within 2 days of my first contact, used a superior product and were very responsive to my communication. A few days later the tenant reported an additional problem with the unit. Dash went out immediately and discovered that the problem was related to their installation - they corrected it immediately and did not charge me. I respect that they admitted their error, when they could have told me anything given that I'm 2000 miles away and our only contact had been over the phone! To sum up, I would recommend them without reservation.

The high today was 104. It's Saturday, at 6:30 pm, and of course our our AC just stopped cooling. I checked Angie's List and called Dash AC based on the ratings. I left a message with the answering service. David, the owner, returned my call within 5 minutes. We discussed the problem and he came straight out and worked on the unit, even though he had just gotten home and showered and is putting in *very* long hours in the heat of summer. He replaced a capacitor and a contactor and got the unit back up and running. David is a very nice person, and seems very honest and honorable. He explained I only needed to replace one of the parts, but if it was his unit he would go ahead and replace the other one, which was showing signs of wear. I agreed. Our bill was high in part because of the markup for weekend charges (time-and-a-half), and although I don't like spending the money I can't really complain about it. This is a very small operation, and I am very impressed with their responsiveness and their attitude toward quality and customer satisfaction. I will definitely call them again.

Went better than expected. David quickly found the problem, taking time to explain what he'd found, and replaced a defective transformer relay (contact points had burnt out and was making only intermittent contact). He took his time to check the other conponents and coach me on preventive maintence related items I could do to extend the live and serviceability of the unit. This was a good job of trouble shooting an intermittent condition and replacing only those components that were needed as opposed to some companies that might try to sell you a new unit.

It went very well. David the technician was first one to work on it since it was installed two years ago. He adjusted the "dip switches" and got the system to cool properly. We are going to have him back to work on the ducting to balance the airflow. Dash doesn't even sell American Standard but David knew more about what to do than Minyard Services who installed the system.
Description of Work: We had them come out to perform a pre-season check and to look at the air flow. We had two rooms on two different units that were either too warm or too cold. We've had problems with the system since it was installed.

David spent a good amount of time evaluating and then determining the unit was in fact very repairable. He is excellent at what he does; very honest, skilled, professional, friendly and fair. He runs an exceptionally ethical business.

I called Dash to provide a quote on a larger scope job of relocating our HVAC unit into the attic, as well as advise on the current configuration of our unit and return air lines of the house we just bought as something in the AC closet looked fishy. David came out on a Saturday morning to walk the house with us and advised a guesstimate of the total work since he could not fully access the attic and we could not run the unit due to work being done in the house. His estimate was fair and we liked his attitude to get the most out of what's there instead of replacing with new as other providers were trying to advise. We ended up calling Dash at the last minute to have them only do a portion of the work quoted - move some of our ducts due to the remodel and to help with even cooling/heating in one particular room. David and his crew came out the next day to address the work we had discussed and even finished the work on a new larger list that we had pulled together overnight to resecure some ducting in another room and repair some ducting that our building contractor had damaged. My father-in-law was left with the instructions for David and his crew and they were great to work with and did a good thorough job. When I called back because we found that our contractor had moved some ducting that needed to be resupported, they did not hesitate to come back out the next day to finish that work and then advised that they would be back again the following day because he found another duct/register that our contractor had pulled out and needed to be adjusted/resecured. We will be calling Dash Services out again once we finally get better access to the attic above the AC unit as we believe the pricing was fair and the service was excellent!

They were very good and I would use them again. They worked really hard and were very courteous the entire time. They got the system working and then they called to follow up. The next day there was a problem with it, so I called them and they came back out promptly. Something had not been properly tightened, so they tightened it and did not charge me for it. I thought they were very reasonably priced.

We have a two story house with two AC units. Our primary unit had stopped functioning - the outdoor compressor and fan would no longer turn on, though the indoor blower would function. We called one of the local major installers first, who recommended a full replacement of both the indoor and outdoor units for approximately $11,000. We decided to call Dash for a second opinion, and I'm glad we did. David quickly diagnosed the primary problem as blown capacitors, and effected a quick fix. He checked the refrigerant levels, added refrigerant (and dye to find any possible leaks in the future) and also checked out our second AC unit. He noted that the outdoor fan motor bearings were beginning to wear, and gave us details on projected life span and cost to repair so that we could make a good decision. Total time for repairs was under two hours. Not only was the unit up and running quickly, but the air coming out of our vents was noticeably colder. A few days later, we noticed that the indoor blower was no longer working, and once again David came out, quickly diagnosed the problem as the circuit board, replaced the board, and also checked for refrigerant leaks (thanks to adding the dye a few days before). We also decided to go ahead and replace the outdoor fan motor at that time. Once again, we were up and running quickly. I was thoroughly impressed by David's comprehensive knowledge of A/C systems, his willingness to explain in detail the units, possible problem areas, recommendations for ongoing maintenance and eventual replacement, and also detailing areas where we should avoid repairs or expense. David clearly believes in delivering quality work and value, and in helping customers get the most out of their A/C equipment. There may be slightly less expensive contractors available, but I don't think you will find a better value than Dash. I am willing to pay a tiny bit more to get quality of work and a locally owned, family run business with high integrity. I will definitely continue to use Dash in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced single "dual capacitor" for the compressor and outdoor fan unit with separate capacitors in downstairs AC unit (will allow individual replacement of capacitors in the future), checked and filled refrigerant in both upstairs and downstairs units, replaced circuit board for downstairs unit, and replaced outdoor fan motor for downstairs unit. Carefully examined and evaluated both systems. Thoroughly washed outside condenser coils and added dye to refrigerant to aid in diagnosing any possible future leak.

We had some home audio/video work done that required cable installers to go into our attic. While they were up there in the early afternoon, the a/c went out. We knew it must have been something that happened while they were up there, but they could not figure out what it was and admitted as much at 5:30 PM. I immediately called Dash based on the reviews here. They offered us "after-hours" service at an additional hourly rate, but it was significantly more, and since we had no idea how long it might take to repair it, we decided to wait until the morning. First thing the next morning, they sent out a thorough and knowledgeable service technician who quickly diagnosed the problem for us (tripped floor switch, which then led to the a/c door being opened during the trouble shooting, resulting in both door switch and floor switch needing reset). He quickly made the adjustments and then preformed preventative maintenance on our system as well (noting that it would not be appropriate to leave without making sure everything else was fine, lest we need them again next week), including washing our condenser unit with the hose, which I had never seen done before. All of that was top-notch. But where they *really* went the extra-mile for us was when they fielded phone calls from the audio/video installation company, who we had asked to pay the bill for the repair. Thanks to Dash making it clear that the problems were caused by the cable installers, the company agreed to reimburse us for the bill without further difficulties. We could not have been more happy.

(Well, Angie's List's site is cumbersome, and I have twice lost at least a half hour's work figuring out what to write on this report only to lose it all because I apparently clicked a wrong button and then list said my page had expired! - They really need to get a more updated, efficient, user friendly site! - BUT I liked this contractor so much I put up with all this to finally, hopefully get the report submitted despite these obstacles.)The technician came within a few hours despite a ton of work on a big project. Someone called when he was on the way. He was efficient and explained everything he was doing and why. Got things working even better than before in just an hour or two. Afterward, someone from the office called to be sure all had gone well and the system was still operating properly, which it has ever since.
Description of Work: Blower working but not the compressor. Technician found that two vital components of the compressor system had stopped working or were working poorly and he replaced them. Got the system going again and found coolant was low so replaced or refilled that. All working well in about an hour. He even gave advice on a couple things to hopefully keep the unit working better and longer.
