The service tech was friendly and professional. He was able to diagnose the issue right away and did not try to talk me into work I obviously did not need. Nor did he take an excessively long time to perform the work required. Overall a very good experience and I will call on them again.

Dave arrived on time and spent five hours doing the upgrades and installing the lightbulbs. He had all the parts and equipment needed to do the job, and was professional as well as friendly. We'd definitely use Dash again.
Description of Work: We needed to have the UV lightbulbs replaced in all three of our HVAC systems as well as some work performed to bring the systems up to the new code.

Fantastic! David was incredibly friendly and did a great job. Can't recommend highly enough. The heat was back on fast and David was easy-going and great to talk to in the meantime. If you find yourself without heat or AC, you won't regret calling Dash! They are the best!!
Description of Work: My HVAC system had stopped working after a recent lightning strike. David from Dash quickly and thoroughly investigated the problem, tested all my equipment, and replaced a faulty circuit board. The system has been working great ever since.

His personality really shines through and his easy demeanor and intelligent stories really make us confident in calling him again.
Description of Work: Dave came to inspect our heater unit at 8:00am. He showed up precisely on time (a few minutes early!), went into the attic, and was done in about 20 minutes. We had called him for the A/C job in the summer too. In both instances he was very keen on explaining fully what he was doing and providing recommendations - i.e. get a carbon monoxide monitor for the house - and not pushing his business.

Excellently. The inspection (inside and outside units) went OK, the same as with previous companies. However, Dash really stood out when David showed me different sources of noise in the outside unit, explained what was and wasn't possible to fix, and reduced some noise by adjustments and by jury-rigging some planks under the unit. It still makes some noise, but less than it did before, and I understand way better what's going on.

I have used Dash for the past 7 years and have always been so pleased with their service. David is so passionate about A/Cs - I want that in a guy working on my A/Cs! Further, he is professional, punctual, and I believe truly interested in insuring his customers are aware of their various options before they make any big decisions, such as compressor replacement. We called Dash due to some issues we were having with poor air flow through our ducts. It was the first real cold snap of winter, so they were utterly swamped with customers with heating problems. In this situation, a lot of businesses would make an appointment that they couldn't possibly keep, just to get the customer on the hook. Dash didn't act that way. Instead, they suggested the name of another HVAC company who they trust and who they thought might be able to fit me in. As it happened, Dash had a technician free up before I made an appointment with anybody else. I was very impressed with the way they had done business up to that point, so we went with them. Their technician took a look at our furnace and found that the burner was getting pretty rusted out. He identified several other parts that were in poor condition (this is not a shock - the furnace was 20+ years old). Given all of that, we decided to replace the furnace. Dash made an effort to fit us in, even though they were really busy. Dan even worked late on a Friday night to get the job done so that we didn't have to go the weekend without heat. They were friendly and professional at every turn, and they did good work. Dan came back several days after the installation to check on the new system and make sure everything was working well (it was). The job came in at exactly what they had estimated, with no gotchas, surprises, or attempted up-sells. In summary: they were professional, friendly and did good work. They showed up when they said they would. They went out of their way to get the work quickly and efficiently. We will do business with them again.

David and Jeanette are very nice people to work with and I felt from the start that the job was in very competent hands. David ran a number of checks to figure out what had happened, and eventually determined that the blower motor had burned out up in the attic. He noticed that the ducts were sort of jury rigged and could easily slip apart, causing fumes to build up in the attic, so he fixed that, too. Refrigerant was added to cool the house more efficiently. They were very busy but managed to fit me in the day I called, and when the motor came in, they could not get to me on Friday so they came out before 7 AM on Saturday. David was here for 3 hours getting everything fixed up. He is really good at explaining what he's doing and what it entails for the AC system. He's super honest and helpful, and totally won my trust. What's more, he has a passion for what he does and for helping people out. He won't cut corners, and he'll tell you that up front. He's had to do too much fixing up of shoddy workmanship from other technicians.
Description of Work: Replaced burned out blower motor which was under warranty. Recharged refrigerant, about 1.5 lbs. Sealed around the box, and fastened ducts.

This was just an amazing experience! My own plumber was out of town and I used Angie's List to find someone who could help us with my bedroom/office unit. Dash is an amazing company with amazing people. They came over the same day and were very professional, friendly, clean and clearly skilled and accomplished experts who showed me what was wrong, what could wait and what needed to be replaced now. I have since used them again and had the same reaction. I always thought I had a great AC tech but now i am a Dash customer!

When our normally trouble-free a/c stopped cooling in the middle of the night, we feared the worst -- heading into the weekend with more 100+ degree blazing heat and no a/c. Based on Angie's List recommendations I called Dash A/C and Heating; and Jeanette was able to work us into their already full schedule. When Bryant arrived a few hours later, the inside temp was already 93 and rising. He diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor and had our a/c unit operating within an hour. Not only that, but in spite of his tight schedule and the heat, he took the time to clean the condenser coils and blow out the condensation drain lines. Oh, in closing I should add that Jeanette called later to follow up and make sure the work was complete and we were satisfied.

Bryant was 5 minutes early, very polite, and very efficient with his time. We are very pleased with his thoroughness and that he got right down to business as soon as he arrived.
Description of Work: A/C check. Unit didn't seem to be able to cool the house below 81 degrees no matter what time of day it was...and there was excessive dripping from from the exterior overflow spout. Bryant found a low freon level, and a leak in evaporator coil, and blew-out the drain line with nitrogen--the unit is old, and he said that we may want to consider replacing it in the future.

I'm working on a project down in Austin and I used them there. The job turned out really well. I liked them. The guy was very personable. I don't remember his name. He's the owner of the company. He spent a lot of time out there and answered my questions. He made some suggestions. He seemed to know his business very well. I thought that the price was a little high, but my air conditioner here in Dallas was serviced and I have a service contract on it. I would use him again in the future if need be.

Our AC unit stopped cooling about 3 PM on Saturday and I got right on line with Angie's List to find a contractor. I called the top rated source and left a messagre. They said someone would get back to me but after an hour, I gave up. (They called back on Monday!) I called another place with a south Austin location but the guy on call lived in Round Rock. He told me there would be a trip charge of $85 per hour. I live in Buda so that would be at least an hour. He was very nice but I decided to call someone closer. That's when I called DASH. David was on call and he said he could get to me in about an hour which he did. He told me the labor would cost $127.50 an hour because it was not within normal working hours and I agreed. It was 84 degrees in the house and climbing so we were desperate. David arrived on time and as soon as he took the panel off he could see the capacitor was gone. This repair was made in a timely fashion. We had a discrepancy over the final bill. I presented my opinion and he presented his. I was not aware that he also charged travel time as well as the time and a half labor fee. This is apparently a typical practice for AC and other repair businesses. I can live with being charged a minimum service fee of 1 hour because I know these people have to make a living, but charging for getting to and from your house is overdoing it. No one ever paid me to drive from my home to an assignment unless the distance was shorter from my home than my office. Companies listed here often give Austin addresses but it appears the service people, especially on weekends, come from other locations. This could make a big difference in your final labor charge. This is just a general rant and David is clearly not the only one doing this so I did not let this figure in my rating. However, it's something to keep in mind when choosing a repair person. I was also unaware that blowing out the drain line was a separate charge. This was a communication error on both our parts. David sent me a check the same day we spoke and refunded a half hour of labor charges. This satisfied me and I learned a lot about how to reduce communication problems from this experience.

They had come two weeks ago as well. I would not grade them high because the person who came out was afraid of dogs. I had two dogs. I had to lock them up in the bedroom because he kept coming in and out of the house. He was a little freaked about the dogs even when I told him that it was okay. I was not happy with that. It appeared that the air conditioner was temporarily fixed and he had to replace a charger. He came out again to replace the charger and I had to lock up my dogs again. It stopped working again the day before yesterday and I had them come out. They did not charge me for that one but they said that they would have to charge me if it happened again. I had not done anything wrong as they were supposed to fix it. However, their responsiveness was good. I would not use them again.

Safety of employees and customers pets is very important to us. We do request that dogs be kept in a safe environment when making service calls. We make every attempt to ensure that our customers units are working as they should after service calls. Occasionally, we may have to return to make additional repairs for events that are unforeseen at the time of the first call. Drain lines can clog again soon after a service call, especially if unit is not serviced on a regular basis.

My outdoor unit made some rather loud and unsettling noises before shutting itself off on the evening of 5/9/2011 so I checked around Angie's list and found Dash. When I called after 6 or 7 in the evening I thought I was going to get a voice mail or an answering service to set up for an appointment on the next day but after I left my information with the lady I received a call from a technician who was about to dispatch that night! Since I didn't think it was that urgent and did not want to pay overtime charges I had him send the request back to the office for an appointment during normal business hours. The next morning the office called to schedule and advised that very likely they wouldn't be able to get anyone out as they had 8 service calls ahead of mine. Lo and behold I get a call about an hour later that a technician is on his way! It was the same technician I spoke with on the phone the night before and he was very knowledgeable, thorough and courteous and ultimately found that my outdoor unit just hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long (I only recently purchased the house and haven't gotten around to a third of the things that need taken care of). The reason I was reminded to write this review was the follow up call I just received where Dash wanted to know if there were any further issues or comments and also to report that initially the Angie's list discount had not been applied but they took care of it proactively! I am very pleased with this service and will definitely call them again for any further issues.

We have been using Dash for several years now, and have never been disappointed. Shortly after moving into this house (built 1996) in 2007, we encountered our first AC problem. I called several of the major AC providers here in Austin, and all of them recommended a complete system replacement ranging from $18,000 to $25,000 and up. I eventually found Dash on Angie's list, and he has kept our existing units running in top condition for several years now. Once in a while a problem will occur, but Dash has been able to respond quickly, provide a clear evaluation of the problem and likely cost, and solve the problem at minimal cost. It's a great comfort knowing we have a trusted service provider for our heating and AC needs. I highly recommend David and his associates at Dash.
Description of Work: Our secondary (upstairs) AC unit stopped working on Sunday, May 08. We called Dash on Monday, and David came out to assess our problem the same day we called for service. David found a leaky valve, replaced the valve, replaced lost refridgerant, and we were up and running once again. Thanks again for another great service experience.

Excellent. Showed up ahead of appt. time, provided reasonable options for cost effective help to an aged system that seemed to be vibrating badly, then did the only work called for, cleaning of the blower that had an accumulation of dust from about 25+ years of use without prior inspection. This did the trick. Price was reasonable.
Description of Work: Examined system, diagnosed likely source of excess vibration in heating unit/blower, cleaned blower assembly, discussed other options to upgrade but these too expensive to be worthwhile, added nitrogen, put blower back in, checked after together.

One unit (downstairs) of our air conditioner stopped cooling just before Thanksgiving and I didn't think I'd be able to get anyone out before the holiday. After checking the company out on Angie's, I called and the representative said that their technician could be there in 15 minutes. I was at work and had to meet him there. When I arrived 10 minutes later, David had already diagnosed the problem by looking at the outdoor condenser/fan/etc unit and had the faulty part (capacitor) in his hand. Other customers might have a problem with a service provider getting to work before meeting the homeowner. I was just happy the cost was going to be less than $200, and not > $2,000. That's the only reason I rated his professionalism as a "B." Cost was great, plus I got a call a few days later to tell me the actual cost would be 15% less than the invoice he wrote up because of the AL discount! He also checked out the air conditioner overall to make sure there weren't any other problems for no charge. I will use Dash again when I have other HVAC problems.
Description of Work: One unit of the air conditioner, which cools the downstairs part of the house, quit cooling. It only blew hot (outside) air. Technician (David) replaced the capacitor (?) part inside the outside condenser unit. He also checked out both units for any other problems.

I cannot believe folks have such great things to say about this company on Angie's List. This is the WORST service experience I've ever had with any A/C service company. I also believe the "waiting list / limited availability" comment posted on Angie's List is bogus, because they did NOT seem busy at all to me and were here the same day of my request for service. The owner, David, came out to change two high-efficiency / anti-allergy filters and check the fresh-air intake unit for my A/C and Heating systems - both downstairs and upstairs units. The company assured me that they had the expertise to handle these relatively simple technical procedures. This was NOT the case! David had trouble changing out the filter media in both units and he did NOT follow the manufacturer's instructions to properly change the filters. He also had NO understanding of how the fresh-air intake system worked, even though he assured me before coming out on the service call that he had experience with this type of system. The upstairs unit, although fairly new, now no longer cools or heats even though it was working fine before David's service call. He also used my ladder and my vacuum cleaner to work on the systems even though his service vehicle had these items on-board. To add insult to injury, Dash Service charged me around $200.00 to change two (2) filters and I SUPPLIED THE FILTERS, so no parts were required. David told me that he was originally from Las Vegas. That seems very appropriate to me, since having Dash service your Air Conditioning and Heating systems is a REAL GAMBLE!
Description of Work: Changed filter media in high-efficiency / anti-allergy air filters in both downstairs and upstairs HVAC (Air Conditioning and Heating) units. Checked fresh-air intake system for both units.
