First of all, they said that they would be out between 10 and 2 and would call 1/2 hour before arriving. After 2pm, I never heard from them so I called the office. They told me that they had been held up and would be out later that afternoon. At about 5 pm, they called and said that it was too late and they would not be able to come out since the part stores were already closed. I told them to come out anyway because I wanted an estimate so they agreed to do so. About an hour later, they called again and told me that they would not be able to come out after all. I asked if they could make it out first thing the next morning and they said they could be here between 8:30 and 9am. This time, they did call 1/2 hour before they showed up and the plumber was here by 9am. I then asked for an estimate which they provided and the estimate explained work that would be done. It was to be $195 for a basket drainer and to install it and then $100 more if any problems occurred. He had the sink fixed within an hour and I specifically asked if he ran into any problems. He told me no but I was still charged the extra $100. I asked the plumber before he started how long the job would take and he said it would take up to a couple of hours. It only took him an hour and there were no potential problems, and he charged me an extra $100. After the work was completed, I called Clarke Kent and spoke with Ashley Glenn in Human Resources and asked for a $100 credit since no problems were found. Ashley spoke with Gary who told her to tell me that the amount charged was a fair amount for the work done and that Clarke Kent would not reimburse me $100. I then told Ashley that the plumber spent 30 minutes talking with me about general plumbing issues and I asked to be reimbursed half of the $100. Ashley spoke with Gary a second time who then agreed to credit me $48 for 30 minutes of the plumber’s time. I still feel that the amount charged was high. I am satisfied because Clarke Kent did negotiate on the price. At least the sink was repaired properly. Next time I need a plumber, however, I will look for another plumber besides Clarke Kent.
Description of Work: I had a leak under the sink drain and I called Clarke Kent to repair it. They installed a new basket drainer and repaired the sink as necessary.

Their guy for back flow repairs is a young man named Woody. He did the work and in the process, found other things that we will have to repair down the line. He did only the repairs we asked for, but was very clear that others would be needed. He did not try to up sell us on more, but was very polite in letting us know. Basically, it was you need repair x, but you can do with repairs y and z for now.
Description of Work: Repaired a back flow unit, replaced faucet and incoming water line.

My husband was home while the plumber was here clearing the drain. We had a $10 coupon from Angie's List and my husband did not know about it. When I called Clarke Kent they told me they would send me a check for the difference.

He showed up and explained the various scenarios that may be causing the backup in the drain. As he "rotored" into the clean-out pipe, he would get about 7-10 feet in and not be able to go any further. He also reported that mud was coming out of the pipe, and the combination of this with not being able to "rotor" further than 7-10 feet had him make the judgment that our pipes had rusted and broken through the foundation to the earth below. The next thing we needed to do, he stated, would be to bring out a camera to go inside the pipe ($225, he quoted) to deduce how much damage was actually in the pipe, and estimated the damage repair would take weeks because of city permits and that the repair would cost at least $1200. I called our home warranty company and they had another plumber (Plumbing Works from Martindale) come out. After a $65 deductible and a successful drain cleaning, no damage was found and all is perfect now!
Description of Work: Representative came to my home to inspect why my washing machine was not draining properly. Going through the clean-out, the representative attempted to unclog the drain pipe with the "rotor" machine.

I called on a Thursday to have a plumber come to check both my commodes and to look at the spigot on the front of my house. I was told they'd have to send two different plumbers because one called for a drain specialist and the other for a different kind. They did send two different plumbers, and both appeared on time. The first one to come didn't charge me the service fee and had his time put on the second bill, so I saved about $100 total. They were both very nice and very professional, and the total service lasted less than an hour.
Description of Work: Checking my commodes for flushing problems; fixing front spigot because it constantly drips.

Well the leak repair was successful, but they wrote on the receipt that they would not warrant their work because they were afraid it might leak again. The other item was the valve replacement. They seem to have gotten some debris in the hot water line while they were replacing the valve. It sometimes does not allow enough hot water to flow. This only occurs once every few days, and it stays cool for several minutes before suddenly warming up. It never affects the other faucets in the bathroom, and it never happened in the shower until they worked on it. At my request, they came back to fix it but all they did was to run the shower for a few minutes and report that it was performing properly that day. I asked them to flush the lines but they refused. The very next day I had another cold shower and they refused to come back out. Shame on them! I'm going to have to hire a different plumber to come out and fix Clarke Kent's poor quality work.
Description of Work: I hired them to fix a leak in the plumbing in my master bathroom, and replace a defective valve in my shower. The valve controls both hot and cold water.

I was underwhelmed with the service. Seemed to indicate that it would take a second call to get fixed what I wanted fixed on the first call.
Description of Work: Came out to clean two bath drains. Cleaned one and said there appeared to be something in the second that could lead to further blockage. Didn't seem to think it was part of the job to fix that.

Excellent. Reviewed the overall job with us before initiating repair. Made suggestions as to use of replacement parts and offered alternatives which actually saved money. Also discussed our remodeling plans with us and offered input as to available plumbing options regarding new fixtures; no charge for ideas. Ran into some difficulty where continued action might have caused some damage to toilet tank. Made us aware of problem before continuing action, gave us two options (one with risk which gave us exactly what we wanted/one without risk which would give us somewhat less). We chose the risk option - but we did it knowingly- results were exactly what we wanted. I was impressed with the company's service, willingness and forthrightness to discuss options and actions before pursuit of same, and quality of work.
Description of Work: Replaced flapper, valve and handle in powder room toilet. Replaced bathroom fixtures (faucets) in powder room and master bath. The fixtures in master are temporary pending a remodel of that room.

The job Clarke Kent did was horrendous. I had to have to have another plumber come out to repair the work they did and finish the work they left undone causing a long delay on the completion of a remodel. Inside the bathroom they placed lines for the sink and tub so close to the wall that the fixtures could not be installed. They left a large black cast iron pipe sticking out visibly by about 5" through the bathroom floor. Outdoors, they left clean-outs open to the elements (causing a major blockage issue later) and left vents for the sink and toilet unfinished and capped with duct tape. They were only supposed to charge my credit card for half of the work when started and half when finished, but they charged the full amount and never completed the job.
Description of Work: Clarke Kent did a rough in for a bathroom remodel. They replaced and moved drain and water lines for a sink, toilet, and claw-foot tub. Stay away from this company. They did incredibly poor work and were completely unresponsive to complaints.

I called this co to set up an appointment as a follow up to a previous appointment with another plumbing service. I had had a cursory test done that found that there were leaks under the foundation. When I called, the giggly and untrained appointment taker told me that I would need a "smoke test". I had never heard of a smoke test so I did some research on the Internet. Well, the plumber showed up this morning to do plumbing work & not testing. When I called to get the right person over, they said they were booked. I should point out here that I am a Realtor who was having testing done at a house that I have under contract. They told me that they would have to reschedule for tomorrow, which was not going to work for this transaction. When I mentioned Angie's List, they said they would try to get someone out today. Then she called back and said their MANAGER told her to cancel all together because I told them I was going to post about this terrible customer service here.

First off, their phone person was great! She was friendly, quick and told me when to expect the plumber and that they would call before the plumber came over. Sure enough, right on time they called and he showed up. He was able to quickly diagnose a leaky outdoor faucet and also recommended a simple cap to cover the hot water heater drain, as opposed to an expensive fix by him. He worked quickly and was very pleasant and was soon finished. After I bought the cap for the hot water heater I tried to flush the valve one last time, but once I got a good flow started I couldn't close the valve! I managed to shut off the water and called Clarke Kent's main line again. The receptionist was again very helpful and worked with me to get the plumber back out ASAP. He was able to replace the entire drain valve and it's working great now.
Description of Work: I had several leaks that I was unable to fix myself, the most concerning was a slow, steady drip from the drain valve of our hot water heater.

I feel like they took way too long doing the job (I was there the whole time) and although I have come to learn that their prices weren't unusual, they were a bit on the high side if you ask me.
Description of Work: I had two jobs done on my home. The first was dropping a gas line to a lower spot on a wall so that it would fit behind a new stove being installed. The second was running a second water line from my kitchen sink over the roof and behind a new refrigerator (this was easier than it sounds, we had pulled out all of the cabinets and were comfortable cutting holes in the walls since they would be covered by the cabinets in a few days.)

I started to replace a faucet at church one Saturday and got in over my head. The water shut-off valves under the sinks weren't shutting the water off. I called Clark Kent plumbing, gave my info to the operator, and got a call back within 20 minutes. The nice technician gave me his diagnosis over the phone and let me know what parts I could go get from Home Depot to save a bit of money, and that he could be there in about an hour. I got the parts, and he showed up on time. I was going to have him do just one faucet and then do the rest myself, but he recommend I let him do it because of the 1 hour minimum. So, I let him do it. He did a great job, and I was pleasantly surprised by their affordable weekend rate. We will definitely use Clark Kent Plumbing again in the future.

I called and the girl who handles the schedule wasn't available. She calls me back the next day in the morning. I was on the other line. I call her back and she is again unavailable. I speak to her later and she says she doesn't have the schedule with her. On day 3 she leaves a message. I call her back and she's again not available. So I get a call in the afternoon while I'm in my car driving. I can't view my schedule b/c I'm on I-35. I ask "hey, we're on day 3 just trying to schedule an estimate. What can I expect in regards to getting the actual work done on time?" At this point she starts blaming me: "I've been calling you back and it's not my fault if you aren't available." She then caps it with a "most people don't need an estimate, they just want the work done." Really? If a company is that unresponsive before they have my money, what can I expect afterwords? I don't need this when I'm paying YOU.

The faucet at the front porch had been leaking for a while, then suddenly began leaking a lot. If you cranked it down with pliers it would stop but not a long term solution. Called Clarke Kent to schedule later in the week. They said they could do it that afternoon, came over, did it, tested it, and done.

Well, once the plumber showed up, I ran and bought a new disposal while he installed everything. When I made the appointment, I was told I would be the second call of the day, so I should expect them between 9:30 and 10:00. At 11:30 I hadn't heard from them so I called and asked, I could tell by the tone of the person's voice who had answered the phone that they had forgotten to schedule my appointment. It took another 45 minutes before he showed up.
Description of Work: Install a new faucet and re-hook up the instant hot water tap and garbage disposal. (Actually, I had to buy a new disposal because I couldn't find the same brand name to buy a new ring, which we couldn't get off the old sink.)

Went great. Extremely rapid response and fix. I was only charged for a half-hour service fee.
Description of Work: Called Clarke Kent because an upstairs bathtub was draining very slowly and recently our master commode had taken to not fully flushing unless handle was depressed 3 seconds or more. I was unsure if the toilet problem was due due drain or mechanical issue, so we decided to go with a drain specialist 1st and he would refer on if the problem was not in his milieu. Within 5 minutes of my call the dispatcher called me back and said that a technician was on his way. Both problems turned out to be minor: the plumber showed me the technique for removing my bathtub drain clog in the future and even tho the commode problem was not a drain one, he showed me that the water level in the tank was sub-optimal, adjusted it and presto, the problem was fixed!
