Our hospital has used Clarke Kent Plumbing since before I became a director. From what I hear, they have always responded to our calls for service. All the good service in the past was completely thrown out the window this weekend when the service manger called his plumber off our emergency to another job while he was in the middle of clearing a clogged drain in our sewer system. From what we later learned, the business he was called to was not even open at the time. We were in a terrible situation with over 20 patients without toilets and no rooms to move them to. This act was very unprofessional and we were left with no choice but to get on the phone and find another company willing to finish the job started by Clarke Kent. I guarantee the company we finally found to fix our problem will get all our future business.

Worst plumbing company ever! Got their info from a neighbor and called them to fix a leak in an outdoor pipe. A guy showed up on time and found the leak quickly. It went downhill from there. After giving me a very high estimate which I accepted because I wanted to fix this problem ASAP, this guy started digging. About 45 min later, he came to my door and told me he needed to show me something. Looked like there are some roots from a tree nearby in the way. The guy gave me two options, either chop down the tree so he can cut all the roots without the tree falling down or reroute which will more than double the already high estimate. I was so surprised by what he said but didn't really know what to do so I ask him to give the invoice for what he did. He charged me 355 bucks and just placed the dirt back onto the leaking pipe. The next day I found another plumber recommended by a friend. He cut out a little roots, dug a nice trench, and fixed the leak for a fraction of the estimate Clarke gave me. It was outrageous that this company sent some incompetent "plumber" to customers and waste our time by lying and still charged the full rate for doing nothing. Do not use them!!!!!

The bid was high for putting in a water heater that was under warranty. The employee's attitude was bad. He said they had plenty of business and were the only company certified to replace the water heater. We would get the heater for free but have to pay them over $1000 to put it in.

Plumber looked at faucet, then went to vehicle to call office and get price. He quoted price of 2 hours, which I signed for. The job took 1 hour, which ANY licensed plumber could do in an hour. I have never heard of a plumbing company "predicting" labor ahead of time, instead of billing for actual labor. I had supplied faucet. This price is ridiculous, I would not recommend this company to anyone! I called later in the day to talk to a manager, and was told someone would call me back, but it might be next week. Also, the plumber received a call from his boss about customer before me calling to complain about the price.

I had just returned from a business trip the previous night and had discovered I had no hot water. I tried to relight the pilot myself and it wouldn't stay on, so I suspected the thermocouple. I called 2 other plumbers first (that appeared higher on Angie's List) but they weren't able to come out today. One of them recommended Clark Kent and said "they had some good techs". One of Clark Kent's technicians, Philip, was able to come out today, within an hour. He was professional and efficient. The problem was the thermocouple. He also identified a potential leak to watch, although he thought it would be ok after he had tightened the bolt. This is Easter weekend and I am ecstatic that the repair has been made and made well. The work is high quality and the pricing is fair (an additional $20 off coupon was online). I would definitely call them again.

From the call to the resolution of the issue, Clark Kent personnel were very professional and easy to work with. Trying to unscrew a stuck, very old hose from an outside water spigot, I accidentally ruptured the copper pipe at the connection point with the spigot. I called Clark Kent to fix it since they had done fantastic work in the past for us with misc. fixes. Thank you Clark Kent team.

My college ring went missing after two men from this company were in my home. The owner said it is my word against theirs, but they wear latex gloves. There will never be proof. All I know is that my special ring with my grandfather's diamond in it is now gone and they are doing nothing about it. I rent a duplex and my landlord is trying to help me as well. It was an emergency situation and this company is the only one who called her back at a late hour. She would normally not use it. I feel helpless and violated and it seems there is NOTHING I can do about it.

I needed then to connect the gas line which had been disconnected. They gave me a bid of $500 to do the work which I only agreed to because I was desparate to get my gas turned back on in my bakery before the weekend. This was Friday at 2 pm. The work took the guy 7 minutes. I should of been charged $125 or less. He arrived at 12:46 and the inspector showed up at 2:20 (1 hr, 34 min). Most of the time the tech was in his truck smoking something or on the phone. There was a gas leak and several other corrections that needed to be made. The tech told me it would be an additional $1,400. I agreed only because in the restaurant business to be shut down over the weekend is terrible. He was off and on my facility for the next 2 hours and 6 min. Most of this time was not spent working, he left once to get supplies, and then left again without telling me where he was going. I included this time in his "timed time." I would of been okay with being extorted for a whopping $1,900 (my monthly salary) for less than three hours of work if he had called the inspector for an after hours inspection, passed inspection, and then asked for payment. BUT he called and another woman, Lana called me and were very rude and yelled at me on the phone because I refused to pay before inspection. I offered a reasonable 30% and they refused and canceled my inspection. So my entire facility is shut down for the weekend. I don't have a fancy restaurant with financial backing but starting by working to the bone earning $7/hr baking out of my home and selling to coffee shops. I do not appreciate plumbers who not only know you are desperate to keep your business running and extort you by manipulation (they "are running out of time and will leave" if you do not sign immediately for their price/ they "just got called for your permit, do you or don't you want it," and so on). I don't appreciate being told there are no other options but also demand to be paid before their work is even proven good. Three other times in the past four years I have paid plumbers before inspection. Each of these times inspections have failed and I have had to hire a new plumber, pay for new permits and pay for the work to be redone. I have lost a total of $4,000 cash, months of lost profit, and a great deal of youth from these instances. I also am suspicious at this point that the work was done correctly. I know for sure that the guy did not fix the connections necessary on my ovens to pass inspection. I also know that he cut into the middle of a metal 3/4 in pipe and replaced it. But I am not sure why the leak would be there when I was first told that the leak was by the connection to the Ansel system. Thus further reason to wait till inspection passes. I also do not appreciate being yelled at on the phone when I offer to pay 30% and the rest after inspection. Their secretary was so nasty she made me cry on the phone (granted I have mommy hormones and been working since 7 am on this problem and awakened every three hours in the night feeding bottles to a newborn baby because I am on antibiotics,). NEVER USE THIS COMPANY EVEN IF YOU ARE DESPERATE. THEY are the extortionist type of plumbers and very unprofessional.
Description of Work: He tied in my gas meter to the gas lines that had been shut off because another plumber tied in the gas line to the meter incorrectly and the gas company had shut my gas off. It took him less than 10 min. He replaced a one foot section of metal pipe. This work took him less than thirty min plus time to go for parts. I have cameras in my facility and I was on site until he disappeared before finishing the job because I had to get my baby home. This is why I know exact times. His total work time was 40 min. He was off and on my property for 3 hrs and 40 min (on the phone, smoking, "going to get supplies" left with his friend. I currently have a bill for $1,900 and his work on friday afternoon did not end up with my gas back on for the weekend for my small bakery business that has several catering events and restaurants /delis to provide food with for the weekend. I already lost one account because of this. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY EVEN IF YOU ARE DESPERATE. THEY are the extortionist type of plumbers and very unprofessional.

We had a gas leak at our house and our contractor called Clarke Kent. The leak was on a pipe to the hot tub. Had them plug the line to the hot tub and then pressure test the lines to the house (which is required by the City before the gas can be turned back on). The pressure test passed and we called the city to inspect. Inspector come out and checks the gauge the technician had installed and found that the gauge was busted and the lines to the house were leaking. Josh, the technician comes back to the house, installs a new gauge and sure enough there is a leak. I show him where all the valves are in the house and where the pipes are under the house. He says he sprayed soap looking for leaks and found numerous small leaks under the house and that the best way to make the repairs are to replace the entire gas system for $4,000. After losing about a week's worth of time while they were trying to diagnose the leak we read another review on Yelp that was eerie similar to our situation. Customer said Clarke Kent did the same thing. We called another plumber who quickly diagnosed the leak at 2 of the shutoff valves in the house and repaired it within a couple of hours for $300. Passed inspection and the gas was turned back on. The new plumber says there was only one fitting under the house that showed signs of being tested with soap, all the other fittings still had dirt and dust on them indicating that they were never sprayed. Called Clarke Kent to complain and their attitude was very dismissive. "What if the other guy is lying?", "What if he does the repairs and you still have a leak and have to replace all the pipes anyway". Use at your own risk.

I've had them quite a few times for different problems. They were great. They always come out the day that you call. I've never had an issue where they can't come that day or can't come for 3 days. They're very professional. They work very hard to make sure it's done right. The guys snaked the pipe several times until they got everything working right. They should hire them. They're just more expensive than others but they actually come out and get the job done.

We used insurance to pay for it, but without insurance, it was probably cost $8,000. The cost with the insurance is just our deductible; it was $1,100. They were professional, quick turn-around, and as far as the cost, it was a big job so I think they were probably fair.
Description of Work: As far as plumbing, I have used Clarke Kent Plumbing. We had a leak in the foundation like one of the pipes had settled so there was a bow in the pipe. So, when you flush it, it would have to travel uphill slightly. Every couple of weeks, it would be backed up and it needed to be snaked. So, they dug up the garage and fixed the bow in the pipe.

We came home from a long vacation Sat night to find the house had no water. The City of Aus checked the meter and said it wasn't there problem. Most of our calls to plumbing companies Sun weren't returned even though their Angie's page says they work Sundays. Clarke Kent answered out call, kept us informed as to the expected time of arrival of the technician, correctly diagnosed a not simple problem with the pressure valve, gave accurate estimates before work commenced and checked to make sure that nothing else was damaged that might have been as a result of the valve problem.

It was unfortunately Friday or the weekend when water was gushing across the driveway early in the morning and it appears to be coming from somewhere near the junction between the city line and the irrigation system. I turned off the controls in the irrigation system to no avail while the turn-off knobs for the city water were also corroded and broke off requiring the city of Austin to come and shut off the water -- at which point the gushing water stopped. Clarke Kent was called since they were one of the few who were available on the weekend and I knew someone who had used them -- but with the reputation as being a bit expensive. Clarke Kent was available immediately and their worker was very punctual. He dug up the area and found that the issue (I believe -- bad memory) was indeed a bad connection between the city line and the irrigation system. This one person had to do quite a bit of digging around tree roots and cable and other lines to replace the connection -- after which there didn't appear to be any more leaking. Overall at this time I was satisfied with the work done -- but had a lingering suspicion I may have overpaid with ~ $800. I am currently remodeling my home and as part of this, I have asked the water line coming into the home from the city be upgraded in diameter to allow for greater water pressure in the home (along with the installation of a pressure-reduction valve as protection). A three man crew dug and worked for 2 days and found that the original correction apparently made by Clarke Kent was still slowly leaking resulting in a wet area around the junction that did not expand up to the surface -- so not an excessive leak but a constant one nevertheless. My memory is not clear -- but this crew either indicated that the proper connector wasn't used or that the surrounding pipe should have been replaced based on their condition. This crew did a much more extensive work than the original Clarke Kent job. and resulted in a total job cost of ~ $1500 ... so I am not sure about how to relate the two jobs in terms of cost. Overall, Clarke Kent was very professional and punctual -- however the work was incomplete upon further investigation and I am uncertain about cost/value.

Description of Work: Called to have PRV replaced and small tank cleaned. Have lived in home and had both of these services provided at least twice each so have solid understanding of what needs to be done and how much it should cost. First plumber was very inexperienced and we had to coach him on the correct approach to fix these items. He said a permit was needed for PRV which we knew was not the case in our area. We sent him away and called and asked them to send someone more experienced. Second plumber came the next day and quoted $1200. Based on prior experienceI knew total for both these jobs should not be more than $600. Sent him away and got a subscription to Angie's list called three other plumbers who quoted in $500-$600 range. Had both jobs done for $1200. I will never call Clarke Ket Plumbing again.

Since the plumber I'd used in the past was booked for a while, they recommended I call Clark Kent Plumbing for faster service. Clark Kent said they couldn't provide a price estimate over the phone (even though my service request was simple--hooking up a gas dryer) but could provide an estimate in person. They gave me a window of 10-4 on Monday. I received a call at 4 Monday stating they wouldn't be making it out that day, but that they'd come on Tuesday, with no apology provided. On Tuesday I finally received a call after 4:30 stating that the plumber was on his way. The plumber was nice and did wait a bit for me to make it back home. The quote, however was ridiculous--a $49 service call fee, a shop fee, and a fee for a half hour of labor, plus a new hose he said I needed, totaling $185. I ended up having my previous plumber do the work and they only charged the minimum service call fee, which includes the first hour of work, for $98, and said I didn't need a new hose.

I've had good luck with them. So far I have been pleased. The job for the hot water heater was $1,400 and the last job was $126. The job tomorrow will be $250. It was very comfortable talking to them about the situation and the alternatives and what other methods we could use to take care of the situation. I felt comfortable using them. They were punctual and nice guys to communicate with.

I don't know what has happened to this company in the past few years but a reliable plumbing service company has turned into the plumber from h*** that you should never call and will soon go out of business (if they don't figure it out). We have spent thousands of dollars over the years with this Clake Kent Plumbing (CKP) and we have been loyal customers. In the past year, things have gone to h***. The latest (and likely, last) example happened yesterday, the day before Thanksgiving. A major appliance broke in our hme and needed to be replaced, which required a plumber to hook up a gas line. So, being a loyal CKP customer, I called and scheduled an appointment. I was told it would be after hours and there would be an additional charge, which I was all too happy to pay, in light of the circumstances. After all, I had spent hndreds of additional dollars mobilizing appliance vendors and hiring special delivery services to get everything to my home for CKP to hook up. So, then we waited... And waited... We called the 24-hour answering service at 7pm to ask what the status was, and received a very curt response from Amber at CKP saying, "our plumbers are still on other jobs... we will get to you"... I called back at 9pm, again leaving a message on the answering service requesting a status update, only this time, Amber didn't return the call. Being patient and understanding, I let it go. I called again at 11pm, leaving another message with the answering service, which again was not returned. It being the night before Thanksgiving, I again let it go, believing that at SOME point, our plumber would arrive and save the day. Surely, Superman, wouldn't disappoint a loyal customer and stand him up on a major appliance installation the day before Thanksgiving. We waited until 1am for the plumber and finally turned off the lights and went to bed. We are hosting friends and family in a few hours... We spent literally hundreds of extra dollars to get appliances in our home and ready for CPK to show up and do their 45-minute job of uncapping and hooking up a gas line. And NOTHING. I called the answering service Thanksgiving morning and left a much more detailed message and Amber called me back, displaying rudeness and an attitude. When she realized that we weren't someone calling out of the yellow pages, but a long-time customer, she switched to lying, saying she had returned my calls. She hadn't... I have an iPhone, there were no missed calls, nice try, but don't lie to a customer -- EVER! You know, Superman, there is an old saying... "Happy wife, happy life!". There's another older saying, "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!!!" Well, this morning, and today, I don't have a happy life and ain't nobody in this house is going to be happy on this Thanksgiving Day because you have the wrong person scheduling and handling your after hours calls. I mean, come on, dude. Next time someone calls in the afternoon needing prompt service (you're a plumber, this can't be the first time this has happened), tell that customer that you can't get it done so they can find someone who CAN and WILL handle the job. But, don't handle it like this. Or you should expect a lot more negative feedback, just like this.
