Called and asked for a quote, within one day, he had called me back. He was actually at our house. Gave us fair quote and said work would be done next day. We had already trimmed our front tree slightly and he cleaned it up as well as removed all branches we had trimmed. Very professional and the work was done quickly and above my satisfaction

Great. The crew did an excellent job in all respects. The large oak may have been 300 years old but was very diseased. They were very professional and courteous. They had safe practices so as not to endanger the building or themselves. They cleaned up the site and restored the area. They even cut some branches by my roof not from the tree. We were so impressed!!!

Interaction with the Salesman started with his 'can't do attitude' and saying "we don't do that" when he saw the Cedars I had already pushed over & piled with the Skid Steer Loader. I asked what did he mean, not take out dead trees like their description stated? He said "no, they cut them off & grind the stumps, which would be cost prohibitive here". This property is a huge job with many dead Cedars, which was why I called to have a crew do it rather than doing it myself like in the past. (I grew up in the family construction business as manual laborer & Heavy Equipment Operator, now a big DIY guy with much of my own equipment- no stranger in what it takes to do the job). After explaining to him how the job needed to be done ( three times) and him telling me it couldn't be done that way. His suggestion was to call a company with a bulldozer to clear the lot and haul it all away in box trailers. I replied that this was a surgical operation to remove the dead Cedars from the mature Oaks and living Cedars, not a clear-cut operation. I further explained that it WOULD be done my way if Brent's were going to do my work! Then added that I have four other estimates from other Tree Service Companies on Angie's List that had no problem understanding and bidding on what/how I wanted done. At that point I told him we had nothing more to discuss since he obviously "didn't get it". He then stomped back to the Prius and took off down the drive. Brent's has lost out on even the consideration of what will be a $20,000+ job based on the other estimates because their Salesman has a temper and did not appear to have ANY experience in how to physically do the job (he needs to spend some time with the crew rather than sales). Further more, I have absolutely no problem in telling everyone and anyone that will listen about my experience with Brent's Salesman!

I originally contacted Brents through Angie's List on June 8, 2015. I asked for a call or email to schedule an appointment for tree and bush trimming. I never heard back from them, so I sent a follow up message through Angie's List on June 14. It is now June 17 and I still have not received a response. Their work quality and price might be good based on other reviews (that is why I contacted them), but their responsiveness and professionalism for new clients is lacking.

It was pretty good. They had a few of the other things left over but it wasn't too much. It went pretty well. They seemed to take pretty good care of the stuff in the yard. They did everything like they're supposed to. They gave me a discount. I thought they did a pretty good job but you have to try and get it to a little less cost.

Very good job of trimming. Showed up on time as promised. Even the person giving the estimate showed up on time. Highly recommended.

I was extremely satisfied. A tree was hanging over my roof, and he was very efficient taking it down piece by piece. He even left some of the brush to keep the cost down.

I use them every other year. The biggest thing is they do a good job. They provide excellent service. They leave the yard immaculate. You would not know they've been there as far as looking at the yard other than the trees show it. I think their price is competitive with everyone else.

They do exceptional work. They arrived promptly. They trimmed all of my trees exactly like I wanted. The clean up was very good. There was nothing left on the ground. I have used them in the past and will use them in the future.

I've seem other tree service companies come in and prune trees leaving a graceful tree as a result of their efforts. These guys were full of good intentions, but the end result is not something I enjoy looking at. Also they refused to remove two low horizontal branches because they extended over my neighbor's front yard. They claimed the branches were his so they couldn't remove them. I'm very disappointed with the results.

Professional and knowledgable. Fair price for amount of work done. Cleaned up well.

They're always good. Our yard is about 100 x 150. They're great. We've been using them for years. They're just reliable and professional. They haul the junk after they're done with the tree service. They removed everything.

Brent's did a good job for us at a fair price. We'd put off the tree trimming decision because we feared making a bad choice---lots of sketchy tree folks roam our oak-filled area. We decided on Brents after several quotes from others and after they'd worked on three of our neighbors' mature oaks. They came out quickly, scheduled the work promptly, showed up as they'd promised. The crew was very organized and cleaned up everything completely, the tree-top guys exhibited great artistry in shaping unruly and roof-threatening growth. Only two caveats: First, I was a little concerned about overly aggressive cutting on the first tree, so asked for more conservative treatment of others---felt I was listened to and got what I asked. So would suggest looking at other jobs, telling crew the level of "manicured" your going for. Second, I understand how other reviewers may have formed a negative opinion of brusque salesperson, but armed with others' cautions, my husband and I were clear and firm and we settled into a good and professional experience.

After I had such a bad experience with another tree company, Brent's was such a breath of fresh air. They were on time, the crew knew exactly what needed to be done and they had a certificate of insurance on the day of the rep visiting. Through out the entire trim, they asked if they had done what was agreed upon. I felt such a relief working with Brent's entire team (rep-trim crew). Went with another tree trimming company only to cancel the project. I will always go to Brent's.

Although we'd used this company in the past (with a Groupon) and were very happy with their work, the price had seemed high (even with the Groupon, which didn't cover a fraction of the charge), so this time we arranged for a second estimate. When the sales manager who came to give us the estimate heard we were getting another estimate, he became rude, abusive, and RAISED the price! Needless to say, we did not use this company and would seriously discourage others from doing so. At the very least, get other estimates. We're getting the same work done for $1000 less by another company.

It's difficult to get a response from tree services in Austin at this time of year. Two services with good ratings on Angie's list did not return my call. ABC services scheduled an arborist visit for six days after the request. He appeared to be a recent college graduate. In contrast, Brent's Tree Service, also highly rated here on Angie's, provided a next-day evaluation on August 25. Sales Manager Darryl O'Brien is a lively man with decades of experience; he volunteered valuable information during the walk around, some of which contradicted that provided by others in previous years (we had lost two trees due to overgrowth of large branches, one in 2013 and another this summer). O'Brien fully described team techniques and was able to schedule next-day service on terms that were 30% less than the estimate from ABC. A four-man team arrived the next day at about 11 a.m. and worked until about 7:30 p.m. with a one-hour break for lunch. All were Spanish speakers, but the most junior man was fully bilingual -- and not needed for that ability, since I was able to converse with the foreman/team leader in Spanish. He was capable, courteous, and pleased to provide details and counsel. Job was performed conscientiously and in full. They removed the tree that had fallen across the deck and cut the stump flat with the ground; they removed another diseased tree in the back of the lot that was almost as large. Most trees are red oaks. Full trimming of branches, dead or overhanging; all cuts were done with clean blades and covered with pruning sealant. Wood and branches were chipped and trucked away. The Bradford pear trees in the front yard were trimmed to reduce strain on canopy, since this species is relatively short-lived and tends to split. Clean-up was good. They gathered and removed dead leaves. Sawdust remaining on the ground will degrade and poses no problem either aesthetically or environmentally. The team leader consulted with me at the end of the job, provided advice about branches encroaching from a neighbor's yard, and promptly carried out a couple of minor additional cuts that I requested. The back yard of property now has greatly reduced shade, but remaining trees appear healthy and in little danger of falling. If I'd used Brent's some years earlier, we would almost certainly have more trees now and they would be in better condition. We are very satisfied with response, suggestions, work and price.

Brents' is a great company to work with. I needed two trees removed from my property in order to begin construction of a pool. I contacted Brents, and worked with John MaCuk to estimate the job. John arrived on time, and was very knowledgeable about all of the trees in my yard. He provided a fair and accurate estimate for the entire job, and had a crew available the next day -- which was very helpful for the scheduling of my pool project. The crew arrived on time, and performed the job as expected. Due to an afternoon rain storm, they were delayed in finishing the job the same day (only the clean-up remained), but communicated that they would be back first thing the next morning. The next morning, the crew arrived on time and finished the job. No payment was required until we were completely satisfied with the job. I received a call from their customer care early this week to make sure the job was done to our liking, and I was able to pay over the phone. Everyone at Brents was professional, courteous, and did exactly what they said they were going to do. I would definitely use them again, and highly recommend them to anyone!

We have 45 trees on our property, and they hadn't been trimmed in 10 years. They were starting to look like a haunted forest. We met Daryl for a quote and hired him on the spot. He explained the process thoroughly, explained his qualifications, explained how most of our neighbors used him also, and explained how they don't take money before service- not until the work is done to our satisfaction. When they came out the next week, it was quite a sight to see all the men dangling from pulleys and ropes and walking amongst the top branches. It was funny to see how nimbly one guy just shimmied up a tree trunk to get on top of our shed. In eight hours, they completed the job with such detail it was like a whole new yard. It amazes me how quickly and efficiently they work. Looking at the trees, you'd think it take a few days. Now all the trees are now able to get sunlight, and the trunks look so clean. They didn't leave until the work was done. They also cleaned up after themselves, clearing all brush, and making it look like they were never there. After seeing the quality of work, and the labor involved, it completely justifies the price. I would definitely hire them again and not take a risk sacrificing quality of work for a cheaper price. Probably the only downside for some people might be that the crew is made up of non-english speaking hispanics. An english speaking manager shows up to get the guys started, answer any questions, drop off the bin where they put the brush, and then leave the site probably to attend other yards. He shows back up towards the end of the job to get the check, bringing more workers to help finish up. Otherwise, in the time that he's gone, you're left with non-english speaking workers. That is not a problem for us since we are hispanic, and even if we weren't, nothing of concern was going on where we would have had to communicate anyway. If it had, we could've just called the office. If this is a concern for you, get the manager's cell number since he's regularly communicating with the workers via cell to track their progress. As for the workers, they were all very sweet, polite, professional, and we had a great time providing snacks for them on their breaks. For us, it felt like family. We did not have any issues with them at all. I would encourage anyone to make sure to provide plenty of water for them - especially since they're not likely to ask. They easily drank 10 pitchers full of ice water. They were with us for 8 hours, and busted their butts to be finished the same day. We even interrupted them for a late afternoon snack, and they still got the work done on time! They certainly deserved good old fashioned southern hospitality considering how hard they were working and what an awesome job they were doing. Hope to have them back in a couple years when we need it done again.

BASED ON THE SPECIFIED TIME OF ARRIVAL ON THE DAY OF THE JOB, THE CREW WAS ABOUT 15 MINUTES EARLY. WE CONFIRMED THE WORK TO BE DONE AND THEY STARTED. IT WAS LIKE WATCHING ANY WELL TRAINED WELL COACHED TEAM WORKING TO THE GET THE JOB DONE. I WATCHED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE JOB AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THEIR EFFICIENCY AND CONCERN FOR MY PROPERTY. WILL BE USING THEM FOR OUR NEXT JOB.

It was after a storm and so I had a bunch of work done. My experience with them was fine. They did what they were supposed to do and cut what they were supposed to cut. The group that they sent to do it was here on time and finished up well. They cleaned up everything and were gone. I went with them because they had done work out here before and I’ve noticed them. I didn't have a lot of very creative things that needed to be done and I just needed to get somebody out here to do it. They ended up doing a good job. I will use them again. Their price was good.

The quote came in lower than many competitors. The job was done to my schedule. And my house looks great with the properly trimmed trees. The crew was respectful, and they cleaned up the yard very well.

They also cut some other branches to clean up the trees. They cleaned up everything nice and did a good job.
