We live in an apartment and it is a very convenient apartment to get to. They did a good job. They were very fast and efficient. They placed all the furniture in place. They were recommended to me. All of my interactions with them were very positive. They did what they said they would do. They showed up when they said they would. They followed up very well as well. We did not have any problems with them. I think they were very good.

I have used Blue Whale in the past and was satisified but they were a complete failure this time. I did not have a single box that did not have damaged items. It is unclear if all of the damage occured during storage by trying to force the boxes into a too small of space or during moving. My couch cushions were ripped. Lamps punctured by small type of tool. Six boxes of crystal broken and on and on. The was not a single box that did not have at least one item broken and all boxes were professionally packed. Most unsettling was the owner of Blue Whale's attitude of "what is the big deal?". and this was after several attempts to even get him to return my phone call. The big deal was that most of my possessions are antiques and cannot be replaced including the crystal. It was a big deal to me!!!!!

Horrible I would never recommend this unreliable company! They didn't even show up nor answer their phones. So look elsewhere for service.
Description of Work: I had to move out of my apartment, and had an appointment planned for them to move me. Well they didn't even show up and would not answer their phones. So no service was performed I was very angry and luckily found a last minute mover who saved my life.

When compared to the other times that we have moved, this company really did not send us any crew. They only sent two people and so it took them a long time to do the job. They were not like body-builder type people like we are used to seeing for this job. They actually looked like they were out of jail. They did not look organized or planned. They were dropping things and were piling it up really high, of course it would fall. We had a lot of breakage involved. By the time we got we got all the things to our new home nothing would fit because it was all crooked and bent sideways because of the mishandling. It was unbelievable how they worked, they just were not careful at all. It was very clear by the way they worked that this was not their cup of tea or their profession. I would definitely never use them again.

I worked along side the guys that came and I bought them lunch, perhaps that's why they guys that came didn't change the estimate despite me having considerably more boxes than I originally anticipated. -- Possibly even double the stuff. A cheap frameless IKEA mirror broke during the move, even though they treated it as carefully as I would have. That was the only thing damaged. It was written on the paperwork and then they called me to confirm the value and address to mail the check for it's value. Perhaps because it was only $10, but they didn't question it at all or ask for price confirmation. They seemed expensive when I was shopping around, but at the end if would have been very comparable to the $60-70/hr for two guys + truck, if not cheaper. (Again, maybe because I underestimated the amount of stuff I had to move.) They price based on # of items, stairs, distance, etc.
Description of Work: Moved from a 2-story town home to a 2-story house. A pretty standard in-town move with stairs and long sidewalk approach on pickup. Also stopped by a storage unit to pick some things up there.

Excellent. They unloaded the truck at the new house in less than 2 hours. They put the stuff where we asked, but we asked them to just drop in into the room. We did the final placements. They attached the washer and dryer too.
Description of Work: Blue Whale moved us from an apartment to the new house. We had most of our stuff in storage in garage but the larger furniture was in the apartment. They moved everything. If it was in a box or loose, they grabbed it: playhouse, BBQ pit, trash bags, flat screen, etc. Most of the quotes are based on pieces moved OR per hour. Depending on your situation, you can guesstimate your costs based on that. In our case, the per hour was better as we moved as many of the smaller boxes ourselves in the two days prior.

Fine, they tried to charge us an extra $500 the day of the move, despite the contracted amount. They also got lost on the way to our house, even though my husband was showing them the way. They opted to make a pit stop without signaling to him and showed up an hour later. Way over priced.

As you know, we charge by the piece and try to take an exact inventory prior to the move so that we can give an exact price. Sometimes customers think, in advance of the move, that they'll move some of their property themselves and then on move day ask the movers to just do it. In those cases, since the inventory increases, the price increases and customers feel pinched. This may have been the case on your move. The movers are paid on a commission basis and since nobody likes to work for free, they added the items you wanted moved to the inventory your provided by phone. Had you had them move just the items on the original inventory the price would not have change a cent. Packers did not finish; we had to call them back. In addition, packers left their own trash/food in a few of our rooms. We had items stolen and could not get resolution from Blue Whale. The owner/manager refused to take our phone call.

I had to call to move the moving date up by one day, they were able to do this. The workers took way more time than they should have, but this may have been because their was two men instead of four. They told the reason I only had two was because workers had called in sick. They changed the estimate on me the day of the move and blamed that on a wrong quote. We then agreed to a price. This move took them around fourteen hours when I was expecting five hours. I was not moving far and I was well packed up. I wanted them to put my furniture back to get and when they did some of this they did it wrong. When I asked them to put together some things they became rude with me.
Description of Work: They moved my belonging few streets down. They unloaded and placed them in the room the belonged in.

They were in a rush. They showed up late and they had another job after mine so they werent very careful with my furniture. They also made comments that they wouldnt have enough time to put all of the furniture where I wanted it but I made sure that they did put it where I wanted it. They were just not very professional.

The move was scheduled for a Sunday afternoon. That morning the company called and wanted to change the time to earlier in the afternoon. I declined. I was then informed that only one employee would be available for the move. I told them that the furniture to be moved required two people, and that I had contracted for two people. They then stated two people would be sent. I called my contact at the company, she checked with them and called me back. She assured me two people would be sent for the move. That afternoon, one mover showed up, fifteen minutes late. He was convinced he could move a tall chest of drawers from the second floor to the first floor, down a narrow stair way, by himself. We declined. The next day I scheduled the move with another moving company.
Description of Work: I contracted for two movers for the minimum two hour service to move furniture between the first and second floors in a home.

I made arrangements/reservation about 10 days before the move scheduled for 9/30. I confirmed on 9/27, re-confirmed on 9/28. They were supposed to be at my home that we were moving out of at noon on 9/27. At about 1:30 I called to see where they were. A gentleman first answered the phone very unprofessionally, then apologized for doing so, then, when I explained who I was and why I was calling, he said that the crew should be there by now and he would check and call me right back. I gave him my cell number for doing so. He didn't call back. At 3:10 I called again and got the after hours recording (they closed at 3:00) and no way to get through the voice mail. I tried every extension. I then called Anytime Movers and they were able to come on short notice and do the job at about what Blue Whale had quoted me. I left a message for Blue Whale on Sunday afternoon that I was very upset that they stood me up and as of Tuesday, have received no call back.

The quote was a fixed price of $2600 - much more than I was willing to spend. I think they would have done a fine job, but I wasn't looking for this quality of work. I ended up going with 3 men moving that quotes by the hour. They moved 95% of my house for $1400 (ran out of time so didn't get the last 5%).
Description of Work: I asked the company to provide me with a quote to move my 4 bedroom house. They were very professional. Darrel came out to the house and took inventory of everything before he quoted the job. They offered 4 wardrobe boxes free with the deal.

These guys did a really great job. They work very quickly and efficiently together. They were careful of both the things that had to be moved and their surroundings. They charged us their minimum fee and we were grateful to find someone willing to do this type of small scale moving.
Description of Work: They moved three rooms of furniture, the living room, dining room and a multi-purpose room's furniture, knick knacks, and anything in the rooms out to our garage when we had our floors refinished. They then moved everything back in to our house when the floors were done.

This is the second time we have used this company. The first time they packed our things for us but this time I packed them. The did unload everything and they set up all of our furniture for us. We have a lot of things to move so they had to use two trucks to move it all. There were a few scratches that you can barely see on some of our furniture but nothing was broken and everything was moved safely. They did arrive a little later than they had said but they finished a few hours earlier than they had planned. They will come out and give you an estimate and the final cost is really close.
Description of Work: They moved our things out of the 4 bedrooms, living room, dinning room, breakfast room, kitchen, outside patio furniture and our outside storage building. They also moved the stuff out of our 2 car garage. They moved us approximately 5 miles away to our new home.

Two men arrived on-time and ready to work. They packed up the kitchen first, which took about two hours, then they moved on to disassembling all of the big furniture and packing the moving truck. They arrived around 9 a.m. and were ready to head to the new house around 12:30 p.m. As soon as we arrived at the new house, we did a walk-through to figure out where most of the furniture would go and they helped me figure out whether some things would fit where I wanted them to go. They were finished re-assembling and placing all the furniture by about 2:30 p.m. Very friendly and very reasonably priced. It took us two days to finish unpacking the kitchen stuff and nothing broke!
Description of Work: We wanted to move most of the little things on our own so we called Blue Whale Moving to help us move the big stuff (beds, dining room tables, weights) and a full-pack of the kitchen.

Blue Whale called and wanted to come earlier than scheduled. The furniture was moved from my home to the truck. The truck then followed me to the second address. The very heavy armoire and television were moved without incident. The movers helped me make sure the electrical connections were correct before moving the armoire close to the wall. I was very pleased and would call Blue Whale again.

It took longer for me to sign the required forms, than for them to do the work, but overall I am very satisfied. They were supposed to arrive around noon, but called me at work a couple of hours earlier. I had said I was flexible. I met two very polite young, strong men at the house and in minutes (as in 5), they were done.
Description of Work: I needed my washer lifted and a pedestal slid underneath. Long story on why the store I bought the washer and subsequently the pedestal from wouldn't. My husband and I could not do this on our own. When I called Blue Whale, the woman almost apologetically said, they could certainly do that, but they'd have to charge me the minimum rate for 2 men. Being in a bind, I agreed. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet to get something done.

The packers were scheduled to come at 9:00. At 10 I called the company. They had me scheduled for packing next Thursday. They scrambled and we had packers by 1:15 the same day. The packers came and told me they would be done by 7 or 8. They were still packing at 10:30. Many things were unpacked, I assumed it would be done on moving day. The packers, Jose and Mario were pleasant and steady workers. Moving day, movers arrived 45 min late. The crew, led by Alex, was professional, pleasant and able to lift anything. We were packed and moved out by 4. The movers were upset by the unpacked items. This resulted in multiple phone calls to their supervisor, Darryl, and then from Darryl to me. The unpacked items were delivered by Jose and Mario the next day.
Description of Work: Pack and move all household belongings from a large home in the suburbs to a home in the city approximately 20 miles away.

The movers were nice guys who were easy to work with and got the job done quickly. One desk did get broken, but it seems like something like that is going to happen. It certainly wasn't negligence or anything on their part. They showed up early (!). The only negative might be that you have to leave a message at the office and wait for them to get back to you. I found that annoying. I like to be able to call and talk to someone during regular business hours.
Description of Work: Blue Whale did a local move for me in Austin. They moved basically a 2 br apartment to a house. They were friendly, efficient and flexible. In fact, they went back and got wardrobes even though we hadn't arranged for them in the first place.

The movers were prompt, friendly and extremely careful with my mom's possessions. They worked efficiently and helped set up the furniture and TV's. I have never seen a move go so smoothly. Nothing was damaged and the day was really stress-free! I highly recommend this company!
Description of Work: They moved my mom's antique dining room table and chairs, antique bedroom suite, a large mirror, end tables, an antique loveseat with matching chair and rocker, 4 wardrobe boxes, 15 misc. boxes, two large TV sets, a tall chest of drawers, some framed pictures, and several lamps.

The estimator was fairly accurate. He did explain how they priced the move and gave a reasonable estimate. The final price was $200.00 more than the estimate or about 15%. The moving team had a good attitude. They tried to be careful and tried to place everything where we wanted it. We believe they did a good job.
Description of Work: Moved all belongings from a rental house to a new house approximately 10 miles away. Belongings consisted of everything from a 2000 sq ft, 4 bedroom 3 bath house including packed boxes and furniture. Blue Whale brought 3 trucks and 4 people. They started work at 9 am and had everything unloaded at the new house by 7 pm.
