Chose company because they were only certified arborists in Austin and Keith seemed knowledgeable when he gave estimate and quote was within range of other quotes. It had been a while since trees had been trimmed and trees were planted too close together by previous owners of house, so it probably wasn't the easiest job, but they still should have done a better job. First time out, workers must have shown up for less than an hour because they were there and gone while my wife ran an errand. They barely cut anything off the two trees in front, and completely skipped the tree on the side. We called and told them that we weren't happy with job, and the owner said he would come out with the crew and supervise to make sure they did it right. The crew came back out, but the owner didn't show up to supervise. The crew basically butchered the trees. It literally looked like they just took a chain saw between the two in the front yard and along the side of the house. Not shaped at all, just cut on one side. We told the owner that we still weren't happy and he agreed to come out and do it himself. He touched it up a little bit, but the damage was already done. We were never happy with the service, but rather than try again (sort of like trying to fix a bad haircut-- you can keep going shorter, but at some point you just let it grow out), we just asked for a bit off the price. They obliged and that's the only reason I didn't give them a C.

A crew of about 4 people came to do the pruning. The final result looked great. They hauled away all the trimmings. I'm not sure how the price compares to other companies; it seems reasonable, but not great to me. I picked this company based since they have a Certified Master Arborist.

I used their website to contact them and they contacted me back by email immediately. They sent someone out to give an estimate fairly quickly. The quote was also emailed to us. We set a date, a little farther out than I wanted, but less than 2 weeks. I asked them to call me if they had a spot open up in the interim and they did, although someone else claimed it before I could get back to them. They sent two men who carefully removed the tree. It was a tricky job, overhanding my neighbor's house and the playscape but they had no issues. Afterwards, I received an invoice by email and paid for the service on the web with my credit card. It was all painless and professional.

They are real professional. They email and call ahead of time. They show up when they are supposed to. They do a good job. I got an estimate and I spent exactly what they said I would. I have been really pleased.

They just finished the job today and we are so happy with it! They were fabulous through the whole process. We did most of the organizing online; the arborist even came to our house without us there, which was a great help to our working family. Just after the arborist's visit (which happened promptly), I received both a call and an email informing me of the work that they thought needed to be done and the estimate. They were excellent. Everything was so easy. I would recommend them to anyone!

I requested a quote through their website and was contacted within 24 hours to set up an appointment for a free consultation. The only thing that annoyed me at first was that they showed up almost an hour late for our appointment, and with only an initial phone call telling us they were going to be about 10-15 minutes late. My annoyance passed quickly, though, as the quote ended up being much less than (almost half!) the previous estimate I got. I think the reason the first estimate was so high was because the contractor was trying to upsell us on services we didn't need or want. Austin Tree Service listened to what we wanted and was straight-forward about what we needed. They also seemed to be more concerned about the health of the trees than the previous contractor we contacted. They were able to provide emergency service the next day since one tree's condition was hazardous. The invoice was very clear - totally itemized and printed directly from their "vehicle office". Within an hour I also received an email notification that my invoice was available to view and pay online! I've dealt with various contractors up until now that provided hand-written, non-itemized, kinda fuzzy-on-the-numbers invoices. This entire experience was very refreshing. The few times I called them with questions, the woman was also incredibly friendly. Overall, I felt very satisfied with one of the first truly professional contract jobs we've hired in Austin.

The whole process was incredibly professional. Online, I requested a consultation with Keith, the arborist. I was contacted within 4 hours and an appointment was set up. Keith was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. He listened to my concerns, provided advice and gave me A quote that morning. The day the trees were trimmed, the crew showed up ontime as promised and spent the day carefully trimming all trees. All debris was removed and Keith arrived at the end of the day to inspect the work and insure I was satisfied. The company has an online quoting system where you can review all quotes and pay online as well. I would not hesitate to use Austin Tree Experts again.

Micah Burns looked at the work and made recommendations. Although I was unexpectedly out of town when the work was scheduled, the work was done as agreed except for grinding of one stump, for which I was not charged. I have not yet been able to check on why that part of the work was not done. This company, on the whole, did a thorough and professional job for a reasonable price.

I was pleased. They worked out any problems quickly. The service staff was responsive. I would use them again.

Micah came out and inspected a distressed tree for us. He couldn't determine the exact reason for the problem but pointed out several secondary factors which he thought exacerbated the problem. He described in detail what we could do to try and save the tree and how long we should expect it to take to see results. Micah also suggested services we could take advantage of next year, but that were not required at this time. He was very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. We will perform the suggested measures and hopefully see a great outcome. Only time will tell on that. Micah did not charge me because he couldn't give me a definite diagnosis

I didn't hear from them after the date when they were scheduled to provide my estimate; I called a week later, was sent the estimate by email, and was told that the paperwork must have blown off my door. (I wish they'd sent an email in addition). Scheduled service for the 20th -- longer than I'd have liked, but they were clearly very busy. When the storms hit, they called again and asked if they could move the date out further; I agreed. When the day we rescheduled to came, they were just starting work as my wife and I left the house in the morning, with a much larger crew than I'd anticipated given the price they were doing the work at. They were present for more than an hour, and hauled away a trailer full of dead and pruned branches, leaving the yard exactly as they found it. The tree still provides shade to the yard, but no longer scrapes the roofs of friends' SUVs or trucks, and no longer has dead branches scattered throughout. I'm very happy with the quality of their service; my only serious complaint is that I didn't get an email in addition to whatever paperwork relating to their initial estimate was left on my door. Their price was extremely reasonable given the service provided, and I absolutely intend to do business with them again. As an aside, I'm impressed with their web site -- it's not often one sees a local service company put as much effort into IT -- though it would be nice if it weren't necessary to create and track a password for Yet Another Account (OpenID, Google's Authentication API, or other approaches could be used to alleviate that issue)

Micha was very professional and knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. We received two other bids and they were substantially more for the same work ($500+). Additionally, the other bids said we needed to spray our red oaks for pests and fungus due to heavy rain season (another $400 onto the job). Micha said it wasn't necessary and that they will bounce back next season. Here we are nine months later and the red oaks that weren't doing so great last August look awesome and as healthy as ever!!!!! Austin Tree Experts know what they are talking about. There was a bit of a back log, but Micha came out specially to make a few cuts early to allow us to contract the move of our large shed. The company also came back a few days after the work to make final prunes, etc to ensure that we were 100% happy prior to receiving ANY payment. They are a top notch company and I would be more than happy to hire them again!

I asked for help removing a stump from a large pecan tree that had been cut down. The stump is right next to the foundation. Micah, a certified arborist, made a house call and then wrote a detailed email and advised not to grind out the stump. Another service had quoted $750 for the job without citing the dangers inherent in the job. So, I truly appreciate Micah's time and attention, and when I need more work done to other trees, I will definitely call him again!

I was quoted a higher price but then they called and told me they had some sales going on. They did the root fertilization separately. They were on time and did the fertilization. The remainder of the work was scheduled for the afternoon. They arrived late in the afternoon and did the remainder of the work. They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves.

Estimate was detailed, on-time, and delivered in both written and email form. Very competitive pricing for including price of haul-away in the cost. (I received 2 other bids for comparison). There was some rescheduling of my job, mostly due to weather. I did receive email confirmation giving a date and time of the initial part of the work, but the crew did not show up at the appointed time, and my preference would have been to have received a call in advance. I was able to get in touch with them right away and they did explain that they had to finish up one job from the previous day before getting to my house, again understandable due to weather. The rest of the time when schedules needed to change, they did phone in advance. Very friendly, did what was estimated, did not go over the estimate significantly if at all, and wrapped up the work as quickly as possible, given working around rain.

Austin Tree Service was on time for the initial appointment. The actual work was rescheduled due to crew illness. The separately scheduled stump grinding was also rescheduled several times. This did not cause issues. My yard was tidy after each session. The oak looks great, and the timing of the ash will allow a nearby sweet gum to flourish. I wish I could have been present.

I called for an estimate, Emily (Certified Arborist) came out and walked the yard and gave me a printed estimate within 30 minutes. She said if I decided to have them do the work to call their scheduler (all of this was on the printed quote. The work had to be rescheduled once due to a delay in one of their jobs but they arrived on time and were done within the 3 hours estimated. The workers cleaned up all the debris and blew out the gutter debris also. Veronica, the scheduler, had asked how payment would be made and said I would receive an emailed invoice that I could pay either on-line or to call her. Invoice was emailed the next day and reflected the coupon I had and which I paid on line, printing the invoice. The process is easy to follow. I used this service because of a referral from my daughter who also was happy with their service but I did not compare quotes therefore I can rated them good in price.

The work was done exactly as estimated and as scheduled. They cleaned up perfectly. Micah Burns, the certified arborist, was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. We recommended Austin Tree Experts to neighbors, two of whom have hired them with equally successful experience. We will schedule this company for all future needs.

Based on the reviews here on Angie's List, I contacted Austin Tree Experts to come give me a bid on trimming the one tree in my front yard. I was told they would come by on Friday and leave a bid at my front door. It was Tuesday before I received my bid by e-mail. After I decided to take the bid, I sent a reply to the e-mail letting Keith Brown know I'd like to be placed on his schedule. When I had not heard back a week later, I called the office. I was told someone else took care of the schedules and they would have her call me "in just a few minutes". After waiting for several more days, I called someone else.

Answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns regarding the health of the trees. Arrived on time and performed the scope of work that we had discussed, also reduced the price after we decided to retain one of the larger branches instead of removing it all. The only minor issue was arriving a little late to give the estimate, but everything else was great.

It was a great experience overall. I called their number and immediately spoke with someone who said they'd send someone out for an estimate. Someone came out on time, gave me a reasonable estimate (they were doing work in the area already), and I agreed. They came out a few days later as they said they would and removed the tree while I was at work. There was no damage to the fence or property, and they did a nice job cleaning up all the branches and chips. They sent me an invoice a few days later, and I paid over the phone with a credit card. I have no complaints, and I'll be using them again in the future.

Austin Tree Experts came to our home to remove a tree that was badly damaged during a storm. They were the second or third person we called because everyone else was saying it would be at least a day before they could come out. Austin Tree Experts were there in under a half an hour. They took out the tree quickly and were very polite. We would recommend them to anyone.
