It took some time to schedule because it was a special deal that apparently many people took advantage of but after it was scheduled the job went very well. The man who did the work was excellent at his craft and very personable. He took great care of my property and obviously took great pride in his work. My new bedroom is beautiful.
Description of Work: Removed popcorn texture from ceiling, repaired a bad patch from a hole in the ceiling, flattened the ceiling and painted the room.

The contractor came on day one with the gentleman who would be doing our project. They scoped out what we wanted to do and started the job right away. Half way in to day 1 Walker our paiter indicated he would have lots of time to do any other painting we may have. He painted ceilings in 2 guest bedrooms as well as the walls. Cleaned up a long the way. Then on day 2 finished the bedrooms, painted the ceiling and walls of our master bath, then did a 2nd coat in our kitchen all the while cleaning up along the way and putting up with my 2 Boston Terriers. Walker was professional, punctual and friendly. I would definately use this company again and request Walker for the job!!
Description of Work: Painted the last 2 guest bedrooms we did not feel like painting plus added a secong coat of paint to our kitchen, added doing our master bath and one extra ceiling piece in our living room we wanted to change the color.

I purchased a coupon for $ 69.00 for drywall repair I had a 2x3 piece of wall that needed new drywall, patching and painting. Austin Jones Ent. LLC was Great, the owner Brad Jones and I played phone tag a lot due to my being out of town with sick relatives, and was very accommodating with getting the work scheduled. Brad sent a young man named Bryan Hughes to do do the job and I could not have been happier with his professionalism and the work performed. Bryan arrived examined the area that need to be repaired then got right to fixing the hole in the wall. Bryan covered up the surrounding area to keep the dust done to a minimum and cleaned up after he finished. The entire experience was positive the work that Bryan did was excellent. The communication with Brad was straight forward and clear and I would recommend and use their services again.

First of all, communication was super. I had several conflicts with scheduling and Brad was so patient and kept checking with me on a convenient time. Employee Juan showed up, was courteous, friendly, and went right to work. I paid $69 for 3 hours and an extra $105 for the duration of the repairs. The walls look amazing and the texture is spot on. I was so impressed, I asked what other services they provided. They do just about everything. Remodeling, indoor/outdoor painting, siding, you name it. I will definitely keep Austin Jones in mind for our next project. Great experience.

This was an Angie's List "Big Deal" for 3 hours of drywall repair ... it took them a loooong time to get the service scheduled, but once we got it scheduled, they arrived right on time. The man had to go back for a longer ladder. He did not charge us for the extra time required to do that. We had many many many spots that needed to be repaired. He kept at it until it was all done. We are happy with the work that they did and would hire them again.

** This is a forever long and detailed review, so if you want the summary, here you go: This experience was misery from start to finish. Mediocre work at a snail's pace, and unbelievably unprofessional. Avoid. I purchased an Angie's List deal for 16 hours of drywall work. I waited a few days to call the number, then reached Brad Jones, the owner. He told me he was overwhelmed with work from multiple AL deals he'd offered, but would get back to me when he could. I didn't have to wait long, though, and he got someone scheduled to come out and start the work that Friday. I asked Brad multiple times to come out and see the job so he'd know the scope of the work, but he just kept asking me to describe the job. I did to the best of my ability, but if I were a drywall person, I wouldn't have needed his services. He told me to have all the materials available when his worker showed up. I pointed that that I have no idea what they need, and neither did he, since he wouldn't come see the site. He told me he would email a list of things to buy. He didn't. I reached him by phone the afternoon prior to his worker's scheduled arrival, and he told me what to buy. They were scheduled to show up at 9am on what turned out to be our first ice day. Note that I was actually speaking to Brad while it was sleeting the day before, and no mention was made of rescheduling. I had another contractor due that day, and that person called when the weather turned bad and rescheduled. Since Brad didn't, I showed up at 9am. When no one had arrived by 10, I called Brad. He acted like I was an idiot for expecting someone to show up. I told him I would of course understand canceling due to the weather, but HE DIDN'T CANCEL and I was able to get there. He told me he was iced in and couldn't get to his office to get my phone number. I reminded him that all of our communication had been on the cell phone in his hand. He then found someone who would come out, and the worker showed up at 11:30. Brad turned up around 1, after his worker had been doing some random sanding for a while, to assess the job. He told me I'd need a lot more supplies, told the worker what needed to be done, and left. At that time, he told me that any work beyond the 16 hours would be $35/hr. That day and the following Monday went fine. The worker seemed very slow, but was friendly enough and showed up pretty much when he said he would. At the end of Monday, the worker got my phone number so he could communicate about times the following morning, since ice was expected again. The next morning, I received a text saying he was waiting on the ice to melt. Of course that's fine. Around 12:30, he asked if we could just resume tomorrow. I said no problem. Then I sent several texts throughout the evening and the following morning asking what time to be there to let him in, with no response. So I called Brad, who informed me that his worker had been sitting in front of the house for an hour. I told him about all the unanswered texts, and he pinned the blame on his worker: "Yeah, ---- isn't a great communicator." I didn't realize until later that the number I'd had these texts with wasn't the workers, but Brad's. Brad is the terrible communicator. So then I get this text: "The 16 hrs you purchased will be good to 1:00 today. Should you want ---- to continue, he will be through floating and preparing ceilings by days end. To prep and apply texture will take most of the day tomorrow. Labor rate is $45 per hour. You will also need 6 more boxes of joint compound." I responded: "Finish floating and preparing ceilings. No texture. Does he need more joint compound for that? Also, on Friday you said the labor rate was $35/hr." He responded: "You will not need anymore joint compound you're right 35 an hour." I was unable to go by the house at the end of the day and didn't hear anything, so I assumed all had gone as he stated and we were done. The next morning, I get this: "---- will be there at 830ish to finish. Maybe 2 hours or so." Me: "Okay. I thought you said this part would be done yesterday? 2 hours is a big discrepancy." Brad: "It was a close guesstimate." Me: "I'd say double the time over what I purchased isn't close at all. Also, 'he will be through floating and preparing ceilings by days end' was what you said." Brad: "Again, that was my best estimate. Sorry." The next thing I got from him was at 12:30, so 4 hours later, saying he'd just left my house and I should call him for my bill. I went by the next morning to look at the work. It's terrible. The ceiling is in no way prepared. Places where tape had been removed didn't get taped, just a layer of mud applied. It wasn't sanded. An entire room wasn't touched at all. So basically, I paid for somewhere between 22 and 25 hours of work (don't have the bill yet, so I'm not sure) for them to replace 5 sheets of drywall and apply a useless layer of mud. I've hired another company to come and fix/finish the work. Avoid like the plague. I can't imagine where this guy's high AL rating came from to begin with.
Description of Work: Replaced some ceiling drywall, was supposed to tape and prep the ceilings and texture them.

I purchased this service through the Big Deal. Brad was responsive using the Angie's List email system. I had other work that needed to been completed before the sheetrock repairs. Brad understood and we agreed to stay in contact to set a later date for repairs. Once the appointment was set Brad made contact the day before scheduled work to confirm. On the day of the work Brad called again to notify me of the estimated time of arrival and the name of his crew. The work : Earlier in the year we had a roof leak that traveled down the stove hood vent which caused damage to the texture and sheetrock. There were water marks and texture had fallen from the ceiling. Sheetrock tape had to be replaced. Repairs were made with confidence. The tape and texture blend in perfectly with the existing ceiling. Our insurance company had been out prior to the repairs. Although the roof leak and needed work would not be covered by insurance the insurance company did provide an estimate. These repairs and cost for repairs came in much lower than the insurance company estimated.

My initial contact with Brad was over the phone before I bought the deal. I wanted to know more about the restrictions and how much he thought could be done in 16 hours. He was very encouraging and thought the painters could probably surprise me with how much they'd accomplish. I bought the deal. By email on Angie's List I asked for the following Tuesday, but followed up to ask for Thursday instead, as we were still trying out paint colors. Brad agreed and we finalized our paint selections. On Wednesday Brad let me know that it would be one painter for two days, rather than two painters for one day. I communicated that I was disappointed since it was an extra day of inconvenience to our family's schedule, but I understood. He said the deal had a very big response and he was busier than expected. Thursday morning Ramiro arrived at about 8:40. He came in and I showed him around and talked about just what we were hoping to do. We have a large front living room and an adjoining office which we wanted painted. Next priority for us was the back living room, which gets up to 11 feet tall on one side. We hoped he would be able to get to the kitchen and touch up about half the walls (all the walls with wear and tear from ten years of living). At the end of the first day he had only the office done, so I was a bit discouraged. It was a very dark blue and had required two coats, so I knew that wouldn't be the case with the other rooms. He also had taped all the other rooms so that the next day would go faster. Friday he arrived and, much to my surprise, he was able to do all three of the remaining rooms. We were so pleased to have all the rooms painted so that we could put the furniture back and get our home back to normal. One note: we moved all furniture to the center of each room and had already removed face plates on all outlets, etc. and wiped down base boards, too. We tried to make sure he could just paint as much as possible. Ramiro was professional and courteous, even when my kids asked tons of questions. He did very careful work. There was no mess left at my home when he finished, and we are happy with the work. I was happy that Brad, who visited at the end of the first day, did not assess us any extra charges for the higher walls in the living room and kitchen. According to the exclusions for the deal, I think he could have. The only negatives for me were some stress about the hours. On the first day, I learned that Ramiro was coming from over an hour away. He left by 4, so I thought that was about 7 1/2 hours of the deal since he had arrived just after 8:30 and didn't start working till closer to 9. The second day, when he had been there 8 hours and was 95% done, he made a comment about staying extra to finish the job but there would be no extra charge. I thought we were still within the time for the deal, so it made me a little uncomfortable. Overall, I was very happy with this deal and the work we had done. I would recommend Austin Jones painting.

This turned out well. Everything looks good and was pleased. The deal included just the walls and we provided the paint. Getting the deal set up was very easy and I believe I was called the day I purchased the deal. I was surprised by the responsiveness and the ability to fit us in before the holidays. They sent one worker out to do all the work. The technician they had out was very nice and he did a great job. I would consider them for future work.

The service and quality provided were excellent. Brad met with me at my house the same day that I called him, and we walked through the work that I wanted done. There was no pressure at all as to what we should have completed. He provided a quote the next day and we decided to go with him. The work took two days and the guys that came out were courteous and professional, and took extra care to ensure that they everything was cleaned up and done to my satisfaction. The areas they painted were difficult to get to - the entrance hall is two stories, and some of the painting involved balancing on the handrail along the stairs to reach certain areas. Even in these hard to reach areas, the quality of the work was exceptional - there was no spill over onto the ceiling / baseboards and the paint is all evenly applied. The texturing of the kitchen involved spraying a previously wallpapered kitchen, including small edges and narrow corners. Not only was the texture applied to perfectly match the rest of the house, but they completely covered and taped the kitchen to make sure no texture made its way off the walls - which it didn't. We are very pleased with the results.
