Allstate Plumbing

The plumbers from Allstate fixed my kitchen sink quite quickly. They were great all the way around and I would definitely use them again. I am very pleased with their service.

My scheduled time window was 3-5pm and I received a call from the office at around 4:30pm informing me that Jason was held up with some jobs that took longer than expected, but could still come by 5-6pm if that worked for me. Fortunately, this was not a problem for me and I appreciated the call. Jason was extremely courteous and had a very friendly demeanor. He managed to remove two pieces of a metal lobster pick from the disposal and unclogged the sink in about 5 mins. He also told me about a tool I could use to unjam the disposal in the future. In addition, I asked for his advice on another plumbing project I was planning and he answered my question without hesitation.

I thought it was a great experience. They were on time, they were professional and it went much faster than expected. I was having ATT Uverse installed at the same time and the Uverse technician took a LOT longer than the plumbers. They did a great job and the price was less per hour than other plumbers.

The service was excellent--the technicians went around and did a thorough inspection of all my plumbing fixtures. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Allstate will be my plumber for as long as I live in the Austin area.

Made appointment in the morning for any afternoon slot after talking to someone on the phone who gave me a "most probable upper bound on the price". The team called on the way - about 30-45 minutes warning. They made the repair and the final price was reasonable and below the phone estimate.

Called on Tuesday afternoon to schedule an appt. and Allstate said they would have someone out between 8-8:30am Wednesday morning. The technician called around 7:30am to say he was on his way and arrived at 8am. I was impressed that he put the blue surgical booties over his shoes before coming into my home. I showed him the 3 items that needed to be addressed. He fixed the toilet and the garbage disposal and said I would have to call someone else about the water softener. He even left the small wrench after showing me how to use it if the garbage disposal backs up again! The only concern I had was I felt the work only took right at an hour but, he said it was a little over, plus the travel time. ??? It says on Angie's List that there are no travel charges??? However, I was so pleased with the work and his professionalism, I paid the addt'l $50 minus the $20 Angie's coupon (in addition to the $98/hr. charge and $45 parts fee) for a total of $173. It probably should have been more like $143. I will ask in the future specifically about travel charges...regardless of what Angie's List says.

He came evaluated and fixed surprisingly quickly. Was very considered in taking off boots at front door, since the weather had been muddy lately.

Sent somebody the very day I called -- very punctual and pleasant.

They're very persistent. The same plumber came out every single time. He did have a lot of problems in getting it fixed, though. He was out at least three to four times. He actually had to replace one of the toilets completely. It's hard to say if it was an unusual problem or if he was just not very knowledgeable. As clean as they claim they're going to be, he left plenty of debris behind. I would say that he's conscientious, but maybe it's just because that's his line of work. Overall, the experience was rather frustrating for me. I still don't know if this is the final fix. They did replace the toilet with no charge, so that was a positive thing. They were really good in terms of being here on time and following up.

Mr. Dahlstrom met with me within several days, and was prompt, professional and courteous. He described what his company would do, and what would be excluded. All this was compiled in a formal estimate, sent to me via email, which appreciated. I interviewed three companies, and did not choose Allstate. Their bid was considerably higher than the two other companies, who would provide comparable services, and I did not after all choose the company that bid the least. I was also somewhat put off by a request to pay half the amount before the work was begun. As it turned out, I paid half the amount to the company I did use when the work was partially done, and I thought that was fair. With the company I did choose, I paid the balance once the work was complete.

Allstate was able to come out the same day and repair the problem. I didn't realize I had a problem until late morning; they were there by 3:00.

Unfortunately, while digging a hole, in my front yard, I hit the water main pipe going into our house with a rock bar (on a Sunday evening). I contacted Allstate Plumbing via their 24 hour emergency line and was promptly called back one of the plumbing technicians, Mike Winmill. Mike was here in the time he promised, quickly repaired the main, and flushed the lines to make sure no dirt got into our home plumbing. Mike was extremely professional, courteous and thorough with his work. Even though I had to pay overtime pay for Sunday evening work, it was worth it to have the water back on in just a few hours.

They were scheduled to arrive at my house at 9:30 am. They called at about 9:05 am to say they were on the way and would be there in 40 minutes. They arrived right on schedule. Courteous and professional.

Things went very well. The technician, Jason, was also very good at providing water heater advice in general. The company even sent me a $20 check in the mail as part of the coupon offer, even though I forgot about it totally. I would use Allstate again.

Arrived at estimated time and completed the repair in a little over an hour.

Had a slow leak from base of toilet. Removed toilet in attempt to find cause and fix it. Discovered floor flange had a piece missing, and fortunately realized it was time to call a professional before attempting any further do it yourself effort. Called Allstate Plumbing in the afternoon, got an appointment for service the next morning. Plumber was on time. Job was completed in 90 minutes, including re-caulking the base of the toilet. No telling how long it would have taken me to do it myself, and how many trips to a store for supplies. Nice to get $20 off as a new Angie's List customer. It was admittedly a messy job to do, and plumber did not clean up much. However, as my son pointed out, "Did I really want to pay $98/hour for cleaning?"

Arrived within minutes of estimated arrival. Found the leak promptly determining that there was no involvement under the house. Fixed the leak, tested the results and replaced soil. Wife's comment was that you could not even tell where the work was done.

Great! We were their first stop so they were here early. We received a message letting us know and then a follow up phone call to make sure we knew they were coming out as early as they were. Dave was here right around the time they had specified. He was very polite. I am home with my 7 month old daughter and I was very comfortable with his presence in the house. He worked fast. Pointed out any plumbing related issues and if possible, made recommendations on how we could fix them ourselves. He fixed our problems and then was done - all within an hour. Very pleased.

Around New Year's day, I was notified by my agent that my duplex had a problem with the toilets backing up. He had contacted another plumbing company and they plumbed and cleared the toilets but said that there was an obstruction in the sewer line to the street. They also stated that they did not do sewers. When notified of this I went to Angie's List to locate a plumber and settled on Allstate. I contacted them on 8 January and I met with Frank at the duplex. He spoke knowledgeably about sewer lines and plumbing in general, giving me confidence in selecting them to do the work. The next morning a crew was at work on the sewer line, located the crushed section section of drain, removed the offending tree root, replaced the drain pipe section and installed a new clean-out that could be accessed above ground. When I returned to the duplex on Monday the 12th, the site was neat and swept clean.

So far - the job has gone well. I will update after we finish the job.

The plumber arrived on time, did his work, cleaned up, and was gone in less than 45 minutes. It was great!

Mike was very friendly, helpful, and even taught me a few things. Just moved into the house and he helped fix some routine issues as well as describing some plumbing situations in my home. My wife and I will always use Allstate Plumbing after this experience.

They came recommended and I was satisfied with their work.

They were prompt, responsive and I have recommended to others.

Very responsive-they showed up quickly-and were able to stop the leak (we had to turn the water supply off at the street since the shutoff valve had rotted away, too). I decided to use Allstate to replace the water heater, rather than shop around for a new one-so the major expense was the heater. I also had them put in a diversion route so that in the future, any leaks would go outside the house rather than inside.
