We began researching roofing options and gathering quotes at the start of the year. Mark from All Good was professional, punctual, and answered all our questions from start to finish. Of the six quotes we received , they were not the least expensive, nor were they the most expensive but the level of customer service and warranties regarding the materials and labor was far superior to the others. Our installation started on the Thursday before Easter weekend and the crew worked hard from 8am -7pm everyday until Monday with the exception of Sunday. Installing a metal roof is a very labor intensive job. Each metal panel was made and cut to size on sight. This crew did an amazing job and our roof is gorgeous. Neighbors continue to stop and offer compliments. Ps. We have had several heavy rains since installation with no problems.

The existing concrete patio was 30x10, we had it enlarged to 35x14. We also had a custom, rustic looking patio cover installed. AGR was the only contractor (and I interviewed 4) that was willing to find and use the rustic tree posts that we wanted for the support columns. The issue here being, that in the future we would like to screen part of the patio in, and with the posts being round, other contractors said that wouldn't be possible. Mark, with AGR, said he could do it, and it would be as bug proof as if we used traditional square 4x4 posts. We were going for a rustic, country, open rafter look, with the cedar tree posts, and cedar rafters and headers. It turned out great! The rafters are rough cut cedar, the posts are tree trunk cedar, and the ceiling is 2x6 yellow pine. I bought Sikken Cedar stain and his painter subcontractor did and excellent job staining the whole thing and matching the 3 different wood types so that they all blend naturally. We had one issue with the quality of one of the rafters. As soon as I bought it to Mark's attention, he had his foreman remove the decking that was already installed and replace the defective rafter before going any further. The only negative aspect of the whole project is the actual concrete extension. My backyard slopes down pretty good, so there was a noticeable large drop off on one end of the patio. So Mark suggested adding wrap around stairs during the concrete pour, and that's what we did. We now wish we would have continued the stairs the entire length of the patio. It is still a large drop off (>10 inches), which is not only uncomfortable but a bit dangerous. The workers added a bunch of dirt before they left, but that still did not rectify the issue, and we just had rain, so that is all washed away now anyway (exposing the ugly left over concrete). I wish the "professional" concrete guys would have brought the drop off height to my attention, and we would have extended the steps all the way around. I inquired about adding steps after the fact, but it seems it would not be cost effective due to the concrete companies minimum order requirements. The other issue with the patio extension is parts of it a very rough and unable to walk on without shoes. It seems I have to have the concrete guy back out to "buff" it down... for an extra charge of course. Overall, the patio cover looks great and is just what we envisioned. I only wish the concrete guys had as much attention to detail as the construction guys and the painter. Kirk Varney AGR had their concrete guy come back out to repair the rough concrete. It feels and looks great now! Kirk Varney
Description of Work: We had our current concrete patio extended, and widened and had the whole thing covered. UPDATE BELOW PREVIOUS COMMENTS.

We did not hire this company because of the guy that came to our house. It initially started off with him telling us that he cannot do what we are asking for. When we told him that we wanted a certain style roof put over our patio, he said it cannot be done. When we explained that another company said it was possible he then tried to find out how they said they would do it. We're not here to tell him how to do his job. After he figured it out (who knows if he even actually did), he then asked a price range. We told him we hadn't thought about it and we didn't know what these things cost. Then he asked us what the other company quoted us...he refused to come up with anything on his own. He was too worried about the competition! When he figured out that our (guessed) price range was way lower than what he cost, he told us we couldn't do a wood patio cover and tried showing us the cheap metal roofs. When I explained to him that we wanted to match the house, he told us it couldn't be done for the money. So, we said fine then we'll have to think about it. He still sent us a quote for $2k over what we told him we could spend and then hounded us for 2 weeks to ask if we made a decision. When I told him that someone came in $1,500 under him he said "Well I wouldn't trust that...but good luck with that." and then hung up the phone. Incredibly rude and thinks he knows best! It wasn't even worth my time. NO MATTER what my husband and I told him we wanted, he would talk about other designs.
Description of Work: Just the quote...

Response from All Good Roofing & Additions
Went out to Customer's home and described out products in the best professional manner we could. The reason we try to match other competitors and the customer's price range, is to find something that will fit within their budget. By suggesting another type of cover, I was merely trying to find something that would be closer to what they projected in that budget. I don't understand the negativity from this customer, when all they have received is the estimate they asked for (free of charge) and it is our company policy to always follow up after an estimate is given to see if they have made a decision to go with us or if someone else is helping them with their project. And our approach is to ask customer's to see if they have been impressed by anyone else with their estimates. This is to find out how we can and what we can do to better serve them since this is an addition to their home. I did speak to the customer on May 8 (original estimate dated May 1) and there was a follow up call when the estimate was sent to insure that it was received. They were very nice on the phone, expressed positive attitude and said not doing the project due to budget restraints. (even saying that the lowest estimate was not within their budget). I do not understand why customer did not give indication that she was unhappy while we were on the phone or that she felt pressured.

Then he called back and said you are a senior citizen and give us a call back when you are closer to the job time that way we can work you in when they have jobs in my area. I told him the size of the area and he said that was a small area for what kind of jobs they do. Then he said lets try and make a better offer with you and work you in with some bigger jobs out in my area. At that time I didn't feel like he thought it would work out at his benefit. May us them in the future depending on the offer he might make.
Description of Work: I just talked to him on the phone and when I called him he seemed very rude so I let him go.

This customer first called asking about on current Big Deal but did not want to do her project until fall. I am not sure that she understood the terms of the Deal, or the fact that her project would require more than what the Deal covered. She was very hard to understand, even from her initial call with my secretary, as to her exact project or to understand that this Deal is a limited time offer. We are happy to give her an estimate but unfortunately, due to material cost changing, our estimates expire after 30 days. So it would be better for her to have us come out closer to when she is ready to do her project. No job is too big or too small, but we cannot honor an amount given months before a customer is prepared to do their project. Please accept our apologies if we came across short or rude trying to explain this as we try to help all customers with every project.

Wow what a positive experience. I have dealt with contractors for many years and have never had such a good experience. Mark was prompt with with my estimate and was able to start the whole process within a few days of my first call. I was kept in constant communication about what was being done and when. The paint contractor, Vinnie, was amazing and a perfectionist. The total job was done on time and done within the estimate, I even had an emergency job that they did for me within the total job! I would recommend this company and these guys to anyone and I will definately use them again.

Decided not to go with the company when they: 1. Came to my house late. 2. The gentleman that arrived immediately said that the coupon wasn't for metal roofs. 3. He asked whether there was some other job they could do such as an addition to my house. 4. He never once made notes, or brought measuring tape. When we received the bid, the first option was for our ENTIRE roof with a warranty; the second option was for something else; the 3rd option was for what we actually called them for.
Description of Work: Bid only-We have a small leak in our roof and I wanted to get an estimate. When I saw Angie's list offering the 2 hour deal, I jumped on it!

Response from All Good Roofing & Additions
I apologize the member feels this way about our interaction. While we appreciate honest, constructive feedback…unfortunately, a lot of this report varies quite a bit from the actual experience. Please take a moment and read our half of the story and see why we have such great grades on Angie's List. To begin, the coupon the member purchased clearly stated is was for $79 for $200 worth of roof repair, not 2 hours work as she stated. It also expressly stated that metal roofs were not included in the deal. We arrived promptly at her property, greeted the customer and explained thoroughly about how metal roofs are different after assessing her proposed project. You cannot fix a metal roof that is leaking like you can a shingled roof. I explained to the customer that this is a new program that we are trying out with Angie's List and that in some cases the program does not work out and they are entitled to a full refund if it didn’t fit her needs. After realizing her initial project wouldn’t fit, we talked about any other projects she may want completed instead to apply the coupon towards. The customer then took me around to back yard and showed me that she needed a door installed. I expressed to customer that I could give her name to a Handyman person who would I would have take care of that for her. Around the second week in February, I called the customer to ensure she had been helped and did not get a return call, so we left another message. We have never gotten a return call in response. Even with all that has happened, the member has received a full refund of her coupon and we would still be willing to try to help. A simple phone call can often remedy most situations, however, we were never extended that courtesy. We have founded our family business on making sure our customers are 100% satisfied and we wish her the best of luck. Mark Sledge~Owner of All Good Roofing & Additions

Went extremely well from start to finish. Was comfortable with his manner in bidding process and with way he wanted to do the job. Before deciding on who was to do job I asked for names and addresses where I could go inspect work he has already done. He complied willingly and I did see three similar jobs. Contractors and installers working for him were very meticulous and careful. Finished product appears to be quality construction. Mark's office manager was very friendly and kept me informed on when the next contractor would begin work for each stage of work.

Guys came out to look at the roof, we called them a few times over a couple weeks to get the estimate. They had lost our paperwork from an estimate they gave months ago. When we had just about given up on them they finally were ready. Sales guy came to the house and had a whole presentation on why we should hire his company. He told us how they use tarps around the whole house for cleanup, etc. Called them on a Monday, said to expect them Tues or Wed, called Tues they said Wed or Thurs. The came on Thurs and removed the old roof, had to replace 2 pieces of plywood around the chimney and re-frame the front part of the front awning. Installed 4 vent fans and shingled the entire house. I asked them about the tarp around the house, I was told they did it where they were working. Came home later to see one or two tarps but shingles, nails and packing garbage on all sides of the house. They did clean up pretty well though.

Mr. Sledge and his installer, George, were both very nice, but I found them frustrating to work with. The start date was moved up by over 2 weeks with less than 24 hours notice. That left us one evening to clean out the porch in preparation for the work. Mr. Sledge did not explain that the ceiling fan installation would be done through an existing porch light switch with conduit on the wall. A proper installation cost us an additional $150. We were told the fan would be a Hunter. It's a Hampton Bay. Mr. Sledge told us the new roof would fit differently from the old roof, but assured me the finished job would look good. His installer completed the job, leaving a ragged hole in a siding corner post. I had to have a heated discussion with Mr. Sledge before he took responsibility for replacing it. Even then, I had to pay for the new siding corner post. The final product was good, but the experience was frustrating. There were multiple communication issues.
