They are very professional and do an excellent job. THey have their own people, they don't subcontract their services to other companies. They are a long standing company, this is a second generation family that has been in the business. It took a while to get the work done because there was a hailstorm and they had a lot of jobs to do. We knew that and didn't mind waiting. They cleaned up all around the house. This is the second time we used them and we would use them again.
Description of Work: They fixed our roof from hail damage.

In all my meetings from the initial sales people to the project managers in the inspection and follow up work I was impressed with the level of expertise and professional attitude displayed by representatives of the company. The overall quality of the work was excellent and I am thoroughly satisfied with the finished product. There were a few instances of miscommunication between the initial work order and the people who performed the work, but through the inspection and followup, all tasks were completed without complaint. I would not hesitate to hire them again.
Description of Work: Complete removal of existing shingles and replacement with class IV impact resistant shingles and some areas of bitumen flat roofing. Small areas of decking were also replaced where rotting had occurred. 3 wind turbines were installed to improve attic ventilation. Arts and Crafts style home, 1990 square feet plus garage, built 1937.

I think that they did a pretty good job. The only complaint is that they delivered a cheaper material but that was caught before they put it on the roof and they left nails all over and my sister got a flat tire. Other than that, they were fine.

They were excellent and it was a quality product. They were very good a communicating up front and along the way as well. We have had a leak since we got the roof, but we called and it was taken care of immediately. We were very satisfied that we got a fine roof for a good price. We had excellent communication form the company. We would highly recommend them. We liked their crew and they came when they said they would.

The job did not go well overall. The crew carefully removed the old shingles and cleaned up well after they finished (or the QA inspector did), but the actual reroofing was not done with the professionalism I expected of this company. They also seemed to set a speed record as they spent only about half day total on the job (approx 9 am - 2 pm). I was told a supervisor would be on site during the job, but I came by mid-morning and there was no supervisor present or anyone who spoke English that I could speak with. Problems: (1) Gutters were damaged in several places. The company subsequently had a gutter company replace about 1/3 of the gutters plus several metal leaf guards. (2) I had 3 main areas of concern on the roof where it seemed the decking had either been damaged during the roof replacement, or should have been replaced during the job. The worst was a sagging area near a valley in the center of the roof, and I don't think that area was damaged prior to the reroofing. (3) Gate was damaged -- couple of pickets pulled loose where the crew probably reached thru the large latch opening and grabbed the side of the pickets instead of pulling the latch itself. It was surprising that the QA inspector noted NO problems when he did his inspection at the end of the day. I contacted the production dept. the next day and the manager came out a few days later. He agreed some areas of the roof needed reworking, the gutters needed fixing, and he fixed the gate on the spot. Several days later one person came out to address the roof issues and worked on the 2 "smaller" areas. He said one section of decking next to the chimney was rotted and should have been replaced instead of covered over with a thin sheet of metal. He couldn't tackle the sagging area near the valley as it needed a crew to deal with it. A crew came out a few days later and did a good job fixing that area. (Cleanup wasn't very good, however.) I thought the 2 "smaller" roof areas still weren't done right and contacted the production dept. again. This time, some of the office staff were not very friendly. I believe the production manager came out a few days later when I wasn't present. I had to follow up with e-mails and phone calls to find out what was going on -- no one told me he had come by; no one phoned me with his observations. I contacted him AGAIN and asked to meet with him at my house. When we finally met some days later, he said the areas were fixed appropriately for the type of decking on the roof. He also told me he would get with my sales consultant about the Angie's List discount, but I never heard from anyone. The entire situation lasted from July 15 thru early Sept. before the last visit by the production manager. I still don't think some areas look right.
Description of Work: In July, this company removed old shingles and replaced with new ones. Removed and covered over 3 old "turtle" type vents and installed 2 new wind turbines.

Great job from start to finish; from the personal attention given at the showroom to adding two additional low profile vents after the roof was finished (due to my indecision). Quotes were given for different options with no pressure to choose one over the other. They showed up as planned on time. Everyone was friendly and worked extremely hard, finishing the entire job in a day and half. The supervisor checked on the progress and performed the final inspection at which time I informed him I would like to have two additional low profile vents added. I was called promptly to schedule the installation at no extra charge. The clean-up was incredible, not a single piece of debris in the pool or for that matter anywhere on my property. This company is all about quality and customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: Complete replacement of roof due to hail damage. Installation of 6 additional low profile vents. Installation of 30 feet of ridge vents. Replaced 20 year three-tab with 50 year Impact Resistant architectural shingles.

Everything went well. I stressed to them that I really hoped to have the roof on my home completed prior to our baby arriving (I was pregnant at the time), and they got the job done before our son was born. This was sooooo helpful to me. The crew worked hard and had the roof done in a couple of days on our 2600 square foot home. They were nice and professional and did a good job cleaning up. The supervisor checked in after the job was done to make sure that I was happy with everything. On my rental property- the story was pretty much the same. The new roof looks good and everyone was professional. I would use this company again.

Their bid was the lowest of 4 bids, and they gave by far the best bid and idea for installation of radiant barrier. (I was searching for options). They said the job should only take 1 day, possibly a little finish-up on a 2nd day, because they would have a crew of at least 5 people. On Monday morning they showed up 2 hours late and with only 4 crew and without either the crew chief or superintendent, which made me extremely nervous at first. However, 2 hours later both the crew chief and the superintendent appeared. Apparently they were handling 2 jobs simultaneously and were at the other site first. It turned out the the crew were extremely well-coordinated and didn't need direct supervision early on. The radiant barrier (looks like heavy tin foil) was extremely difficult to install, requiring careful placement, handling, and smoothing. It turns out that it took the crew longer to install the radiant barrier than for the decking, and this caused the job not to be finished until noon on Tuesday. The full crew and chief worked until 9:30 pm on Monday and they returned promptly at 8:00 am on Tuesday. I was very pleased because I observed the crew taking extra special care (and time) to install the radiant barrier correctly, and the office personnel that gave me the 1-day estimate "for a house of this size" might not have known about the time required for the radiant barrier. I was only their 2nd customer to receive radiant barrier. The work was very professional and very well done. They used 1 1/4" nails, and hand-nailed all the shingles. They covered our swimming pool (although I had to remind them to do this), and did a superb job of clean-up. Several kudos. 1st, the bid called for 40 year, impact-resistant shingles and residential-quality radiant barrier. They could only find impact-resistant shingles in 50-year shingles, and they did not charge me extra. 2nd, the agreed-upon radiant barrier was out-of-stock for another 6 weeks, so they upgraded us to commercial-quality radiant barrier without additional charge. 3rd, even though this had not been discussed during the bid, they installed both the 50-year shingles AND the radiant barrier on my shed. I hadn't expected either. Another plus was payment. They asked me to wait (3 weeks) until I received my insurance reimbursement! Then they provided me with full paperwork and warranty information. They submitted a supplemental bid to my insurance to cover an increase in material costs because I delayed start by 2 months, but they didn't increased my costs. I passed over the supplemental insurance payment to them.
Description of Work: Complete roof replacement on a 2000 ft home and backyard shed due to a hail storm. Replaced 2 old-fashion turbines with a modern ridge vent. Installed radiant barrier under the shingles.

Dropped in on Joe Hall Roofing. Initially told they didn't do skylights - told her their web page said otherwise. At this point Michael August came out to the front and asked about the job I needed done. Told him I had spotted my skylight broken and wanted it replaced. He said they could do that and estimated a skylight that small would be less than $200 to replace. My insurance claim showed it to be $264 so I canceled that claim. It took me three trips and a number of phone calls to get anything done. When the installer came to the house he climbed up on the roof, replaced the skylight, and left in less than 20 minutes without even rapping on the door to tell us he was there. The only time I spoke to anyone at the company I had to initiate it, either in person or on the phone. No one told me they were busy so the time involved seemed a little excessive. The final straw was the less than $200 estimate wound up being $350.00.

WE NORMALLY DO SKYLIGHTS, BUT DURING A STORM WITH 100 CALLS + PER DAY IT IS DIFFICULT TO RESPOND WITH AS MUCH PERSONAL ATTENTION AS WE NORMALLY PROVIDE. ALSO DURING A STORM WE USUALLY DO ESTIMATE MOST "REPAIR" CALLS BECAUSE WE CANNOT SERVICE THEM PROPERLY.

After the storm that came through, we called to get someone to come out and make sure that we did not have any hail damage. I believe I talked with Joe and he was very polite and easy to work with on the phone. He told me that they were very busy, but he should be able to get out in 3-5 days to check it out for us. He said he would call us just before he came out. After 3-5 days rolled around we did not hear from them at all. No phone call and no estimate left at the door. I understand things are busy when storms come through, but you could at least call potential clients and leave a message or something to let them know you're still interested in their business.

I had just bought this older home and a storm ripped off part of the roof, causing my insurance company to qualify roof coverage until I had it repaired. I called two Angie's List companies, and Joe Hall Roofing responded immediately. They said that so much of my area of town was hit by the storm that they were replacing roofs first and they couldn't deal with my repair for at least two months. I said "Angie's List," and they said, well, we can give you an estimate. I said that's all I needed to assure my insurer that I would have the roof repaired. When the polite young man came out a couple of days later, he wondered out loud why he was there on such a small job when people were missing roofs. I said, "Angie's List", and he smiled. Oh, I see. True to their word, they kept me updated on when they'd be out, they finished all the work while I wasn't even home, they left everything clean and neat, and they charged me exactly what they had estimated. Everyone was so friendly and kind.

They actually started a little later on the first day than I had expected. I panicked because I had a party planned for the next day. Once they got started they finished in less than two days. Jon convinced me to go with the IR shingles which saves 27% on my home owners insurance. He also talked me out of ridge vents due to the design of my roof. All work was completed as scheduled (I actually waited until they were available) They honored the Angie's List coupon saving me $250 and PROMPTLY completed the coupon for my insurance discount. No wonder my insurance company and Angie's List rated them very highly. I personally talked with Joe Hall before the work began and believe him to be a man of great integrity. My out of pocket with upgrades was about $3000. I don't expect I'll be needing a new roof for quite some time now.
Description of Work: Joe Hall Roofing removed one layer of existing 3-tab shingles, installed class IV impact resistant (IR) shingles with asphalt felt underlayment, replaced all existing vent boots with lead flashing, painted flashings to match roof, installed four wind turbines, and HAND NAILED all penetrations.

Joe Hall was the most available company of the ones that were highly rated on Angie's List. Overall they did a good job and bid me a competitive price. I was actually able to upgrade my shingles and pay the same amount the adjuster said I should pay for the roof with the cheaper shingles. From the bid to the job it took a few weeks, and on the day of the job they were in and out in a few hours. They did a good job on the roof, except they left the gutters messed up and didn't communicate very clearly about what they were doing with the gutters (I was under the impression they were replacing them until after the job completed). Overall, though, a good experience with the company and I recommended them to my mom who needs a roof too.
