Did an overall check of the plumbing and told me that we needed to buy 4 new toilets and proceeded to get out his book that showed the prices of new toilets, which ranged from approximately $729 to $1049 per toilet. He also tried to sell me their Bio Ben drain cleaner for $59 a bottle. At first I trusted Chris and thought that he was concerned about me and my plumbing but soon surmised that he must work on commission because he tried to get me to buy over $3200 worth of toilets from him including ones with higher seats. I am very disappointed because I thought I had a plumbing company I could trust but that wasn't the case with Ben Franklin. My spouse is very angry about this incident as is our handy man. They are incensed that a company would try to take advantage of people. I would not recommend this company ever.

They did a good job but they're very expensive. They know what they're doing, they're the best, but you're going to pay for the best. But, they did a good job. What they came out to do, they did well.

They came out and jetted my kitchen line to clear a clog. When they finished they used a camera a saw no problems. Now 3 and a half months later it is clogging again. Called and they said it was out of warranty (37days) and they wouldn't come out unless I paid again. I don't think so. Tech assured me that I wouldn't have anymore problems.

You called us out for two issues: A kitchen line that was clogged, and a bath tub that was slow draining. We cable cleaned the tub, but the kitchen line required hydro jetting service due to build up. After the service the line was checked by camera (at no additional charge) to ensure there were no issues at that time. We offer a 67 day warranty on our drain cleanings (and free camera inspection if needed). There are lots of plumbers in the area who offer NO warranty on drain cleanings. If you had called within the 67 days we would gladly have come back and cleared the line under the warranty. Since you did not have us clear the line the second time, I can not say what was wrong. If it was a clog, then that would certainly be understandable. If there was an issue with the piping, something was broken, then I could understand your frustration. We offer a warranty when most don't because after a cleaning we camera to check for other issues, so that we can correct them the first time we are at your home, and if there are no issues the warranty is easy to back. Most expire before they clog again. Flushing things that should not be flushed down the toilet is common, and has to be considered, but we still offer the warranty. As for the time limit, I am sorry that your issue fell outside this timeframe, but you had complete coverage up to that time. It is also interesting to note that you called us out for a separate issue 2 months later, and I am glad we were able to meet your needs at that time. Please call me the next time you are in need of service, and I will ensure that your service fee is waived, and we will professionally handle your plumbing requirements.

When Benjamin Franklin Plumbing arrived he could see the water soaked walls, and knew we had a leak of some sort, but could not determine where that leak was. We were advised to get someone to open up the wall to see where the leak or overflow was coming from. Once that was done, we were to contact them to come and fix the problem. The fees they quoted us were way over our budget. We fond a company to open up the walls and find the leak and a plumber to replace the leaky pipe.
Description of Work: There were water soaked boxes on the floor of my closet and I couldn't tell where the water was coming from, so I called the service provider.

We did leave an estimate for a leak search, and that was based on the information we had at the time: The meter was not spinning (indicating a leak), and the statement from the wife that the water was from when the husband replaced the valve on the water heater. Based on those two things it was determined that a leak search would be required, and that was declined by you. No cost for repair could have been given without a leak search to locate the source of the water, and the information at hand said that was from recent work done by you. You were left a general estimate for a water line replacement based on the general area where the water was located. All pricing came from our Straight Forward Pricing Guide, and was presented up front before any work was done to be approved by you.

Mr. Mayo showed up, cleaned out the drain line for the washing machine. He charged my mother $ 199.00 to clean out a drain???? And she had a $ 69.00 dollar coupon from the phone book. He then fixed a chain on the screen door, which he did not say that he would charge her far. He then wanted to look at her hot water heater. Why I do not know. My mother did NOT ask him to do this. For some reason he took a picture of the hot water heater. He was at the house for about 1 hour. And then he charged her $ 199.00 !!!!! And she had a $ 69.00 coupon !!!! I have had numerous companies come to my house (in the same neighborhood); at least 8 to 10 times before I could replace the sewer drain line in my back yard. I was NEVER charged more than $ 100.00 for this. But Benjamin Franklin charges my mom $ 199.00!!!!! The man who showed up saw a little old lady on a fixed income, an said to himself, "she is at my mercy, I can charge whatever I want". After the managers at Benjamin Franklin read this, they should do the right thing, and refund at least $ 100.00 to her. Let's see what happens.

We work from a price guide that list all of our prices including drain cleaning. We charge $199 for drain cleaning with a 67 day warranty. We will come back and clean the drain for free during the 67 day warranty period should it stop up. We charge a $69.00 service to come out which insures that we will be out during the three hour time window and if we are late we will pay you $5 a minute up to $ 300. We honored the coupon that was presented . I can assure you we went over all the pricing before the work was performed and we fixed the chain for your mom as a courtesy. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have if any. David Crow General Manager Benjamin Franklin Plumbing

They did an excellent job. I though that price was high but that was all. I think I could have done it myself for less but the product wouldn't have been as good. They put in a type of pipe that goes in through your old line and they guarantee it for twenty years. It was fascinating to watch them pull it through. They only had to dig a hole at each end of the line and just suck it through.

They are punctual and the estimates are spot on. They are clean coming in and clean going out. Their estimates come in kind of high even if I do ask them for an estimate. I have not met one of their technicians yet as they have exceptionally well trained, knowledgeable and personable staff. They show up on time and leave on time and do all the work expected to do.

He performed the $29.00 5-point toilet tuneup that I purchased as a promotional coupon on Angie's List, but quoted me a very high estimate to perform other services on the same toilet. I only took him up on one item for an additional $29.00 and am getting other quotes for the other items he said needed to be done. My toilet is performing fine so far.

I thought that they were far over priced. I did not find them to be reliable. When he left, he did not connect the dish washer so when I turned it on it leaked. I called and he did come back but he should have done it right the first time. They are soliciting me for other services, such as working on my water heater. I told them that I am not interested. I think that the company should not be soliciting customers. If I need a plumber, I will call a plumber.

After a complete exam of your issues, you were presented with options for repair for each item that included pricing. You then initialed your approval for the repair option you wanted done for each item, that included your approval of the price. The tech then wrote up your paperwork to include the work to be done and the total price for the job, and asked you to sign and approve BEFORE any work was done. You chose the options you wanted and placed your initials next to the price, then signed the approval for the work to be done. We provided you a 5 year parts and labor warranty on the disposal we replaced, a 5 year parts and labor warranty on the kitchen faucet we replaced, and a 2 year parts and labor warranty on the toilets we rebuilt. The manufacturer's warranty does cover some of this time for some of the parts you purchased, however, they DO NOT cover labor....in other words: 2 or 5 years later it would cost you nothing to replace/repair a damaged covered item. That is one of the best warranties, and for the longest time, of any plumbing company in the area. There are some that offer NO warranty other than the manufacturer's. That sounds reliable to me. that sounds like someone who backs up their work, in writing, and will be there when you need us. As for the tech forgetting to hook back up the dishwasher, I am sorry that we made a mistake. That mistake, however, was responded to immediately, the issue was taken care of, and the mess was cleaned up. Me made a mistake, and we corrected that mistake, as we should. Your last point was that we solicited you....we offer a basic plumbing inspection on all calls we run as a courtesy.... if we only looked at the one issue you had, and not the other items in your home, we could miss a problem that you were not aware of, or was just developing. Nothing worse than having to call a plumber back for another repair after he has already left, yet it happens all the time. It is a courtesy inspection that costs you nothing, to make sure there are no other issues in your home. You, of course, are free to decline it. Please fell free to call me with any future service need that comes up. I will waive any service fee, and we will get you taken care of.

Our call was taken and a repair person was sent out with in a reasonable amount of time. They were on time. Extremely professional and helpful. The plumber knew in our case that we have an older home with some difficulties and he did the very best with what he had to work with. Since there was no way to repair the fixture and no access place for the repair he had to cut through our tile and he prepared us for this in a very kind way. We were planning a full bath remodel in the future so we knew we had to take the tile out any ways. He did a very good job cutting the tile out of the wall and replacing the fixture and fixing the leak. He cleaned up and talked to us about some other things we had asked him about regarding other repairs. For my mother in law the plumber showed up as scheduled and discovered the issue with her water heater and had a solution very quickly. They do fantastic work and I trust them with other plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Approx 2 years ago and for my mother in law a few months ago. For us they fixed a very old leaking bathroom fixture. For my mother in law they fixed her hot water heater. Approx $600 for leaking water fixture and approx $1000 for water heater repair.

The estimate you were given was for $6964, and that was to replace two tanked water heaters with one new 11.1 tankless water heater, and remove the old ones from the attic. The new tankless had a 12 year parts and labor warranty also. As I am sure you found out, that is a great price for the install of that size tankless water heater, especially when coupled with a fantastic warranty like that. You did have us do plenty of other work for you, so I am happy that we met your expectations on that work. Please call us next time you need a plumber, and I will ensure you are taken care of!

They gave me a discount of $ 30 since I had a coupon order. The person who came out to do the work was excellent and the service was great. The concerned person knew how to diagnose both the bathrooms and he knew that both the showers and everything were in-between the front bathroom and the city sewer. He did not have all of his camera equipment and as such had to call his boss’ brother to bring it to him. In the mean time while I was waiting I asked him for an estimate on a tank less hot water heater and he was told me that it would cost around $ 5000 to $ 6000 for the same which was extremely awful. He even found tree roots in my bathroom which were as big as my arm which he was able to get out. He however wanted $ 1500 for this which I thought was excessive. Their pricing is out of their field.

They were good. The only thing that I did not like, I don't know what happened, but the back faucet is squeaking real bad when I turn the water on. I don't know what's causing it and they've been out once to fix it. What happened was he had a trainee with him and he left the trainee to do the work and he didn't check the trainee's work which he should have done. He messed something up. I'm gonna have them to come back again because it's squeaking real bad again. I don't think it's the workmanship but the faucet itself that they used. But they showed up when they were supposed to and they're very punctual.
Description of Work: I used Benjamin Franklin Plumbing because they sent out a brochure in the mail for a promotion wherein if we use them, they'd waive their fee for coming out and give an estimate on the work to be done. When I said I was not having the work done by them, he wrote me an invoice for $69.00 for the trip. The trip coupon was only good if you have the work done at the time of visit. I understand that and was planning on having the work done (at a reasonable price) , but no way could I understand $568.00 to change out a kitchen faucet when I am even supplying the faucet. I was upset, but polite. I talked to the service center and they promised to have a manager call me. The plumber gathered up his papers and left in a hurry. I never heard from a manager about this at all. I don't know if this company has changed hands or whatever, but this was so unlike the service I had experienced before. I won't be calling them again.
Description of Work: Plumber arrived quickly as promised. That was the only thing done right. I was planning on using free service trip coupon and getting a kitchen faucet replaced. I already had the new kitchen faucet here. It is same brand and style as one being replaced. When he told me it would cost $568.00 to replace the faucet I was shocked! I have used this company for years and never had a problem before. I told him the price was too high and I would not be paying them the work.

You called us and booked for an after hours emergency timeframe, which increased the service fee slightly. It is printed clearly on the coupon that you were sent that this was for a Free Service Call With Repair, and this was explained in detail to you when you called in. That coupon is only good for regular hours, regular times, but you were allowed to use it for an after hours emergency timeframe because you are a valued customer. You were quoted for several repairs, not just one, so please consider that when thinking about the price of the faucet install....it also included a 5 year parts and labor warranty.....longer than any other plumber that I know of in the area. Please feel free to call us for your next plumbing need, and I will ensure your service fee is waived, and we will get your issue taken care of in the manner you have come to expect.
