They were very clear on the phone about a service fee, the first thing the guy did when he got there was hit the reset button which I would have appreciated if they told me that over the phone. That wasn't the case though so they fixed it and it works.

Damian showed up within minutes of the appointment time; yes, appointment time, not a time window! He was professional and very friendly. He had to leave and get a drain cleaning machine that was small enough to drag up onto our roof. He said he would be back in 45 minutes. He returned in about 90 minutes; which is why I gave him a B for punctuality. Once he returned, he was done and gone within 15-20 minutes. We have used him previously for this service. I will use him again because he charges a very fair price for this service and he is a very friendly individual. Several months ago we tried to use him to change out about 8 supply line cut off valves. Unexpectedly, he did not show up for the appointment. So we used Tom's Plumbing, who did it for less than $200 (They used some parts I had already purchased). in short, 2 out of 4 appointments have exceeded our expectations. I appointment went well, except for the 90 minute delay. then 1 no-show. For the price and his courteous demeanor, I will use him to clear future stopped up drains.
Description of Work: We had a clogged sewer line. He ran the drain cleaner through an exhaust pipe on the roof (our home does not have convenient clean outs for everything). It was quick and easy.

The overall experience was excellent. I received a bid from a responsible company, but did not contract with them due to the price quoted to replace and physically move the water heater.
Description of Work: The service technician was punctual, thorough, and professional. He explained their process of estimating a job and provided an estimate immediately following review of the job requirements. The estimate was significantly higher than bids received from two other companies and we decided to have the work performed by someone else.

I had used this company previously for repairs and while they seem to be a little higher than average on the pricing, they have always done great work. My most recent experience was a pipe that came apart in the wall early one morning. I called at about 8 a.m. to try to get on the repair schedule for the next few days, expecting to be without water for a while. I was very pleasantly surprised when I was told they would have someone at my door between 9 and 10. They showed up in that time frame. The representative was very pleasant and professional and quickly made the repairs. He took the time to show me what he had done and went over the bill and warranty with me. Yes, they may be a bit pricier than the competitors, but my experience has been that they do the job right the first time every time, and that peace of mind is what I am looking for and is worth a little extra.
Description of Work: Most recent experience was for a line broken in a wall. I've also used this company to change out a hot water heater, and prior to that to change out several faucets in and outside of my house.

Plumber got here very quickly, I'll give him that. He found all sorts of stuff that was "wrong" and told us the bill would be $300-400. We told him no thanks, just fix the shut off valve. Which he did, in 10 minutes or less, for $150. I read that a DIY person could do it for about $15. I replaced the toilet parts myself for about $15, and all the other "stuff" that was wrong is still working fine, such as the lever that he wanted to replace, and which just needed to be hand tightened in the back.
Description of Work: Called to fix shut off valve and possibly fix leaky toilet (flapper).

Response from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing
We did not find all sorts of stuff that was "wrong" with the customer's plumbing, these were issues that we were called out on and gave estimates for repair. This job was done in March 2010 and we have not heard any complaint from the customer about the work that was done. Before any work is performed at the residence we give prices so the customer can authorize for us to do the work. It is possible that a DIY person can do the job for less, but you are not just paying for the plumbing part, you are paying for the knowledge of a licensed plumber to do the work and give a full warranty on the work done at the residence.

I have used Benjamin Franklin plumbing before. Some of the features that I appreciate are flexible timing including evening hours, emergency or small window wait time for higher price, or if lower price if timing can be more flexible (ex: anytime Tuesday). I called Thursday evening and received an appointment window for 8-11 a.m. the following day. I immediately received a confirmation email with confirmation number. The following day, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing called around 8 a.m. to state that plumber was on his way. The plumber arrived before 9 a.m. When I described the work that I wanted to have done, he gave me three options, each with written quotes. I was able to select the lowest price option, and he was even willing to use some of the parts that I already had (so I didn't have to purchase them again from him.). The work took approximately one hour to complete. After completing the requested work, the plumber checked other plumbing in the house and gave me a written quote for a new water heater. Benjamin Franklin is a professional company, They are easy to work with and are able to complete each job that I have requested without having to make an extra trip to the store for parts. Their prices are higher than other plumbers that I have hired. However, they have answered the phone and made appointments when my other plumbers were not available. Personal opinion: while I am thankful that they inspect other plumbing and might find issues of concern, I feel that each time they have come to my house to complete service, they are looking for another issue simply for the additional sales.
Description of Work: Installed new intake valve at toilet, new water line between valve and toilet, and installed toilet kit (provided by homeowner.

We found the leak while turing off the water at the main because of a leak in the house that had caused quite a lot of indoor damage. My husband was able to repair that leak by himself but the leak between the house and the main was way over his head from a plumbing stand point. I went to Angie's list and Ben Franklin Plumbing was near the top of the list. I recalled from their ads that if they are late they actually pay you, which sounder wonderful to me. We called on a Tuesday AM after Memorial Day and they had someone out the next day in the early AM. The young man (plumber) worked non-stop until he had the leak repaired and had to replaced several of the old pipes as they were thin & brittle-his suggestion was to replace them then while he already had them dug up versus waiting until they broke and having to dig it up all over again. Once he finished he had a helper come and fill the trench back in and that was it.
Description of Work: We had one of those difficult leaks between the water main and the house. It required digging up the front yard, changing out about 50' of pipe. Its not one of those repairs you ever want to happen but I suppose eventually all pipes go bad. They were prompt, gave us a quote before the work was done and stuck to it.

The work was done properly and on time. I think the price for the work was extremely high, though. I will have to say they did not exceed the estimate. I think a sprinkler company would have been much less expensive, and the cutoff valve inside could have waited. However, since we were not CERTAIN that the leak was in the sprinkler system till it was dug, we felt we needed to have a professional plumber do the work. And since we needed to get the leak stopped we just bit the bullet and did not get another estimate.

The plumber showed up and did a bad job. He cut an irregularly shaped hole and took a long time to finish his job and did a terrible job. He did fix the leak, but he left a large piece of metal in my neighbor’s yard. He was supposed to call the company to say that he was supposed to put the cover back on the water meter, but he never did. They were trying to fix the situation, and the woman tried to give me a refund and we settled on a refund for the service fee because there was no service to be had. I had to hire a new company to finish what I needed to get done. The woman Courtney really tried to fix the situation. She did a great job of trying to help me. The company actually tried to help me and was responsive to my issues.

We had three contractors come out and give us estimates for a tankless water heater.Benjamin Franklins price was in the middle but they seemed very helpful and took a lot of time explaining the process.. We had them come out the following week and it was installed in one day. We love our new water heater. It truly is endless hot water.

It was just a small job done in the afternoon. They changed some water pipes for me one time. We live in an area where the water pressure from the city is quite high, so everybody has a pressure regulator. They are a good place to call to get the work done quickly. They came by and looked at it one day and scheduled to do the work. They were in and out of here in three and a half hours. Their price is probably above average, but it's worth the money. I have used them a couple of times, and they've done good work in the past, so I have stuck with them. When they left, you couldn't see that they had been there. They laid out a tarp so they could put the grass back in. They are on the ball with that. They were here as soon as I called, basically. The first thing they do is show you their license. They want to make a good impression off the bat.
Description of Work: They worked on the water pressure regulator system. They had to do some excavation work to get out the water pipes. They ended up having to replace the valve because it had corroded.

You can't adjust the shower all the way too the "hot" side, but other than that, he did a great job. I'm thinking about giving him a call to see if he can readjust it. The technician Nate came over, assessed the situation and gave me my options. They're not the cheapest around, but the way I see it, you get what you pay for and I for what I paid for, along with it was piece of mind and quality service, at what I would still consider a fair price. These guys are A-1 in my book !!!
Description of Work: My hot water heater burst on Sat morning and as backed up as they were, they still were able to get me in the schedule that same day even earlier than originally promised, unlike "Baker Brothers Plumbing" who advertise same day emergency service, but it appears their definition of "same day" 72 hours later.

Exceptional work was performed. Even though I had not used them before, I called them based on good write-ups and being local, since I was looking for someone to come out immediately on a Monday morning. Larry arrived within an hour of the call and diagnosed the problem. Since it was a slab leak he called for more tools to be sent over and immediately began to prep to cut a hole in the floor. He worked until the pipe was repaired and setup an inspection for the next morning. After the inspector provided a green tag for the job, he returned directly and worked to repair the floor until the job was done late that day. The work that was done was professional without question and I would use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing again, and specifically Larry if at all possible. The price was not cheap, but you get what you pay for and the work was exceptional.
Description of Work: Repaired water line leak beneath slab. Hot water line running from water heater to bathroom developed a leak under the concrete floor slab and had to be located, jackhammered, cutout, sottered, backfilled, and then concreted.

This was a follow-up to work done in July. The work done was to remove plumbing that was installed years ago for a softener, and properly loop and provide an indoor cut-off for the water supply, as well as removing plumbing under the utility room sink that was connected to the softener. The work Matt did not only looks nice, but the cut-off valve is superior to the one he replaced that I could not even turn. On the prior visit, he tested our water and it was soft without a water softener. We have since confirmed this with an independent laboratory and 2 other sources, which fact has saved us alot of money not having to buy another softener. Matt is very professional and competent, and does not up sell something you do not need, which I appreciate. Before leaving, he checked all the fixtures in the house, and we found toilets needing some new parts in the tanks due to age, which we will have him back to do shortly. I have nothing to say about the service he provides except it is excellent, and when he leaves, it has been done right.

This guy was good. He was here twice. We are having trouble with sediment in our water. We don't really know the scope of our problem. The first time he was out was to look over and see what we might be able to do as far as the whole water sample. He didn't charge us anything. That afternoon I noticed water in my utility room from my water softner, which was the probelm. He was out here in 45 minutes and took care of the probelm. They also are not cheap but that is great to have someone come out on a friday evening 45 minutes after you have called. The gentlemen's name was Matt and he was great.

During the investigation we found dip tube was stopping up the faucet. This was from the water heater. This is what was causing the problem. The $179 was to determine the problem so we could give options to fix the problem. The $179 will go towards any repairs or replacements.
