I called when my drain wasn't draining in my kitchen. It was after 4 when I called, so they came out the next day. I have used them before in the past and am always satisfied. Of course my only complaint is their prices. But, you get what you pay for!! They are on time, clean, professional, explain everything up front, and they always clean up after they are done. This time, when he was running the snake through under my kitchen sink, it was sooooo gross. He never let on that it was grossing him out, but I'm sure he was. HAHAHAHA Anyway, then I had him install a garbage disposal for me and he was in and out of my house in about an hour.
Description of Work: I called with a clogged kitchen drain. I ended up getting my pipes snaked and having a new garbage disposal installed.

Dear (member name removed), Thank you so much for taking the time to let others know about your experience with Mr. Rooter. We appreciate your confidence in us and it's our pleasure to service your home. I agree that plumbing is definitely expensive, but I'm thankful you see the value in our service. We have only the top techicians on our team, always do a professional job, and guarantee everything we do. We realize that the last thing a customer wants on top of having to pay for plumbing is having to pay for it twice if the "cheaper" guy doesn't do it right or won't come back to honor his warranty. Also keep in mind, we're available 24/7 for emergencies, and never charge an overtime charge. Thank you again! Sincerely, Brandy Waugh General Manager

Had an emergent water gush in backyard. Called two other plumbers, who couldn't make it out till the following day. Quickly joined Angie's List to expand potential plumbers and Mr. Rooters was at the top. Called and plumber was here within two hours. Major job that took two and a half days to fix, but did a seemingly great job despite difficulties.

I obtained 3 estimates for the services required. Mr Rooter was the lowest bid. They were very friendly and responsive. Tim came out the next day and did the work. When he submitted the bill, it was actually less than the original estimate because he did not have to do an original item that had been planned for. The work was completed quickly and efficiently and he told us we would receive priority scheduling for any future services we might need.

They were phenomenal. The unit was installed up in a cabinet. They came out took out the old unit and put a new one in. The unit did not originally work so he had to take that one out and place another new unit in. He never complained and left no mess. I felt he went way beyond to make sure the work was done well.

Dear customer, I see where we were hired by another person as a part of a real estate transaction back in July to isolate drain leaks under the slab. I do not have any contact information for you. If you had an unsatisfactory experience with our company I would like to know the specifics of your experience. All of the documentation on my end shows positive survey results and isolation work but no repairs. Sometimes when a buyer hires their plumber to do testing on your home and the results are unsatisfactory, it can lead to a negative experience. I'm not sure if this is what happened in this particular situation. We certainly would like to make certain that our technician handled himself in a professional manner regardless of the circumstances surrounding the sell of the home. If you would like to visit with me about this, please feel free to call me at 806-331-3278 as I do not have a way of contacting you. Sincerely, Brandy Waugh General Manager

My water heater went out over Christmas, so I waited until after the holiday and called Mr. Rooter to come see what the issue was. They said it was broken beyond repair and would need to be replaced, so I told them to go ahead and replace it which they did in a very prompt and satisfactory manner. My only complaint about this service was the price, as I was expecting it to cost around $1000, and the actual bill was $1610. I was never given a detailed invoice of the billing, and I'm 90% sure I was charged a "holiday" service rate even though the service occurred after the actual holiday, but I have no way to actually prove this was true. Overall the service and professionalism were great, and they were able to solve all of my issues the same day that I contacted them, so I will definitely use them again, I'll just pay a little bit closer attention to their billing in the future! UPDATE: The company sent me a detailed invoice when they replied to this review which answered some of my questions, but I still think the price charged for some of these services was high in my situation ($408 to install a drip pan, 12" of PVC pipe, a T & P drain, and reconnect the circulation pump), although they probably charge the same fees to everyone regardless of the actual implementation cost, so I've updated my rating accordingly.

Dear Member, I would be happy to provide you a break down of the bill, I will get it in the mail to you today. We never charge overtime or holiday rates, it's the same 24/7. We know you don't choose when your plumbing is going to act up, we certainly aren't going to punish you if it's after hours or a holiday. All of our pricing is upfront and flat rate, the technicians do not have the ability to change the pricing. It is set in writing in our Menu Pricing Guide and the prices you saw on the iPad were preprogramed, not something Johnathan has the ability or permission to override. Unfortunately water heaters are expensive to replace and part of that is the city code requirements that go along with it. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance. I was having issues with the drain in my utility room where my washing machine was located on 12/26/12, so I called Mr. Rooter to come out and snake the drain. The serviceman came out and snaked one of the clean outs by the kitchen and said this would cost about $200, but this did not solve the issue, so he ran the snake down one of the vents on the roof which bumped the price to $438. This seemed to help the drain a little bit, but it still wasn't 100%, and he said to use it over the next few days to see if it would clear after usage, and gave me a free callback if I continued to have issues. A couple days later everything in the house was stopped up, I couldn't use the showers, toilets, or sinks because they would back up almost immediately, so I called them back and they sent another serviceman out to the house. This gentlemen ran a larger snake through another clean out located in the back of the house, and mentioned there were some tree roots in the that line after running a camera through it. This seemed to fix the problem, and I haven't had any issues since the callback, although the serviceman advised that the fix would typically only last 2 to 6 months, and recommended replacing the line from the house to the sewer main. My only question about this service is that I keep wondering why the first guy didn't run a large snake through the clean out like the second guy did a few days later, makes me wonder if the whole snake through the vent that cost an extra $200 was even necessary, or if he just couldn't locate the access valve for the other clean out (it was actually buried a couple inches underground) and didn't know what else to do. All in all, the drain is fixed for the moment and I'm happy, these guys continue to be very prompt and professional so I would recommend them, but just like another issue in the past, I'm a little suspicious of the billing.

Dear Member, Thank you for taking time to write a review for us on Angie's list. I wish a had a clear cut answer to your concern. As someone who is not a plumber I've often had a hard time understanding certain situations such as yours. To the best of my knowledge, and the way I've heard the plumbers explain it, is that the branch line (aka washing machine) is a seperate type of stoppage than a main line (from the house to the alley). If you called in and reported a stoppage at the washing machine and no other fixtures were giving problems at that time, they would not snake the main line too, as that would be unnecessary. Unfortunatley it seems just a little too coincidental when just days later the entire system backs up. What probably happened is that once the stoppage was solved in the washing machine drain line, the root penetration in the main line (a separate issue) became apparent. Even if they had occured simultaneously, there would have been two charges. The only time we don't charge for the second stoppage is if the main line backed up first and may have caused a stoppage in a branch line. I hope I've given some sort of clarification for you. If you ever have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call and ask us. We want to be your plumber of choice from now on, not just a "bump and run" company. When you decide to get the main line replaced or repaired, keep in mind that we can do 12 months no interest financing for customers that qualify. Plumbing is such a wonderful thing when it works, and such a headache when it doesn't. Have a great weekend. Sincerely, Brandy Waugh General Manager

The service was excellent. see above.
Description of Work: The plumber showed up on time and presented his card to let me know he was from Mr. Rooter. I showed him that he water was not draining from either bathtub. Shane ran the hose through the drain trap and the let me look while he ran the camera through. We observed that pipes were rusty and had build-up. He then ran the hose again with a bigger head to get as much build-up as possible. Shane was very professional and obviously knowlegable. He took time to answer my questions and explain the cause of the problem as well as the likleyhood of reoccurance due to the age of the plumbing. He advised me of the pricing before beginning the work.

Overall, I had a very pleasant experience with Mr. Rooter Plumbing. I called around noon for an appointment and a technician arrived within 2 hours. They were very professional from start to finish. Johnathan performed all of the services and made sure to let me know what everything was going to cost before he began performing any work. He was very efficient with his work as well. After he conducted the gas pressure test, he found a few leaks and then spoke to me about fixing the problems. Fixing the leaks costs an additional per hour fee for the labor so I appreciated Johnathan working so efficiently to get the work done in under an hour which saved me money.
Description of Work: I needed to get the gas turned on for my tenants so I called Mr. Rooter Plumbing to perform a gas pressure test. The test revealed a few leaks so the technician was able to fix the leaks as well.

The first thing they do is show you the charges from preprinted book that indicates what they will be charging. The standard charge to test to see if you have leak is $214. To locate and repair leak they go to an hourly rate of $125 an hour. The plumber crawled around the attic looking for the house leak and the charge was $706. Never did find the leak. To replace the gas line 50ft to the house the charge was $2124, making the total bill $3095. If you join their advantage program $100 they give you a discount so I ended up paying $2724. The end result was I paid $2700 but I have heat an hot water. I don't have a fireplace any more. The contract they use states that they aren't responsible for any damage they cause, (seems like a good way to pad the bill). The plumber that did the work was genuinely nice guy and was responsive and worked hard. This may be standard fare among plumbers but it's hard to get an estimate on an open ended job with a lot of unknowns, so you pay your money and you take your chances.
Description of Work: I could smell gas in the utility room and called Mr Rooter primarily from the reviews on Angies list. There is no gas in the utility room as all the appliances are electric, but the gas line from the meter runs into the house on the outside of the utility room so I asumed that was where the smell was coming from. The plumber shut the gas off and said he would return the following day and put in a temporary line which he did. He said he would have to replace the gas line from the meter to the house. He also put on a meter to check the inside of the house to see if there was any leaks there and he determined there was leak somewhere inside the house. There are only three gas connection inside the house. One to the water heater, one to the furnace and one to the fire place. He determined there was no leaks at the water heater or the furnace and he decided that it must be at the fireplace although he could find no leaks on the pipes running to the fireplace. He told me I needed to call in brick man to tear out the fireplace wall which is about eight feet high to get at the shut off valve to the fireplace. I told him I didn't want to spend the money and to just cap off the pipe running to it so it would pass code enforcement inspection. He brought a trencher and dug out a place to place the new line. We had to wait for code enforcement to inspect and approve it a few days later. I turned on my front water and looked in the trench and water was spewing out in several places. They had cut the water lines. When I showed him the problem he said they could fix it for $500 I told him they cut the lines and they ought to fix them. I said if I needed to I could talk to a supervisor or the owner but I didn't want to spend alot of money to fix their screw up. His supervisor told him to go ahead and fix it. I told him not to cover the trench until I could inspect it . The inspection by the city went OK but the water sprinklers along the side of the housed did not work and they had covered up the trench. Turns out the lines to the sprinklers had been cut also. To dig them up and patch them was going to cost another $450. So we went through the same thing again and he agreed to dig them again and fix them, which he. did.

Dear Member, I wish I would have known you had concerns about how the job was going and I would have been happy to address them with you. I will certainly follow up with the technician and his field supervisor to see if we could have done something different. We do routine follow up calls after every job to identify any potential problems and I show that you didn't have any complaints at that time. Anytime gas leaks occur we have to locate and repair them in order to keep your home safe which tends to be a tedious process. We also try to explain in a very clear and upfront way that lines underground are likely to get damaged during the ditching process. In order to run from the meter to the house in a straight line, other underground utilities usually cross that path. We also very clearly state up front and in writing that we cannot be responsible for the damage to those lines. Our goal at Mr. Rooter Plumbing is to provide quality service at reasonable prices. We are not the least expensive company in town but we warranty everything we do and provide 24/7 emergency service with never an overtime charge. Most homeowners don't want the least expensive plumber, but the best plumber at reasonable prices. We do not ever pad our bills and I would fire someone on the spot if I suspected that was happening. I truly regret that your experience with our company was less than satisfactory. If there is anything I can do to address this issue with you please contact me at your convenience. We had a backed up drain that was not responsive to plunging or chemicals. We called Mr. Rooter after seeing a review on Angies list. Wighin 10 minutes the service tech called back and said he would be here in 1 hour. He showed up on time, saw our problem and had the drain cleared within minutes. We had questions about remodeling our bathroom that he answered completely. When he left he cleaned the work area and made sure we were satisfied before he left.

Mr. Rooter put me in touch with a service rep pronto. He followed up to let me know when he thought he'd be here. His day got busy, so an on-call person came out. Jonathan was great. We discussed the problem, costs to address it, and he got to work. The primary clean-out is under the deck, so he located that, and pulled up a deck board to get access. The line was cleaned from two separate directions, and I could see the before and after on his camera screen. I signed up for their 5-year promotion, which saved me $26 on my call, and they took my $25 coupon. I was very pleased with their service, and I'll be using them again. Not soon, I hope, but I'm glad to have them as a resource.

Dear Member, Thank you so much for your detailed report of your experience with our company. I know it helps others make an informed decision when trying to decide how to proceed with plumbing issues. I'm also glad you took advantage of our Customer Advantage Plan. That will more than pay for itself usually the first or second time it's used. I'm not one to ever buy extended warranties or protection plans, but I've yet to see a customer not benefit from this. Plumbing is expensive so we try and help with the costs any way we can. We also know that consumers can't afford to pay to have it done twice if they hire the wrong plumber to begin with! Thank you for your vote of confidence in us! Please let us know if we can be of further service to you and your family. Sincerely, Brandy Waugh General Manager

When the natural gas line burst, we had to shut down our motors and quit watering, putting our crop at risk at a very crucial growing stage. We called Mr. Rooter, told them the situation and they responded quickly. Most plumbers we call to come to our farm say they have to charge us an extra fee because we're about 17 miles north of Amarillo. Mr. Rooter did not charge us a transportation fee. He had his plumbers out the very next day that we called. They brought everything they needed to repair the gas line. They had to dig the line - in the mud - by hand, and didn't flinch at all at the extra labor required. They were professional, prompt, and left the place as good as they found it. They were affordable, didn't charge us any extra fees, and provided us better service than we've received in a long time. I fully recommend Mr. Rooter.
Description of Work: Mr. Rooter's plumbers repaired a broken natural gas line that had been spewing natural gas out in our crop circle. The gas line was an older line and the experienced plumbers were familiar with the type of repair, were on sight promptly, and had it fixed much sooner than we anticipated. Mr Rooter's prompt, professional service helped us get our irrigation sprinklers back on our crops in a timely manner.

It went well. They even put down a rug at the front door and put on shoe covers so as not to track the house. Very pleased.
Description of Work: We had a washing machine drain that was slow to drain and would run over when spinning out. They went on top of the house and cleaned out the drain then came in and cleaned out the washer drain. Then they check to make sure all drains were working properly.

We have been a week in our home and the pipe for the washer is blocked,we called our home warranty company to get a covered service. the person for the company showed up and asked if we had a clean out for our main line we either dont or its covered the man told us he couldn't do anything that our claim would be denied. it was denied do to the man called our home warrenty company and lied to them and said it was a main line, not a washer line. they refused a 2nd opinion when i asked for one. so we called mr. rooter for an estimate and 2nd opinion, they came out and let me know they could do the work they didnt need a clean out, do to it wouldn't fix the washer line issue. i called my home warranty people to let them know even had the plumber talk with them(since mr. rooter also has a contract with them) they refused his 2nd opinion, but they would send a different company out to do a 2nd opinion. although we are trying to get this fixed since we already paid 60 bucks to the plumber who lied,we know this issue is covered. if the other company does the same then mr. rooter will be doing the work and then our company will pay us back. Also we plan on having them to do any needed work that is needed that we have to pay out of pocket for. The company also understood that being low on funds and this issue is covered that we are trying to get our home warranty to take care of this issue. The gentleman that was here was nice courteous, nice, truthful, did his best to take care of the issue and help. he talked with our home warranty people which did get us a 2nd opinion that i had asked for and they had denied. I was hoping that they would allow mr. rooter to do the work.
Description of Work: Checked to see if access was possible to a blocked washer line, also an estimate on clearing it and also estimate on putting a clean out on main line after they make sure there isnt one thats not covered up. Also made it so that our home warranty company is sending someone to do a 2nd opinion that they had denied do to another plumber getting our covered claim denied. The service we got was priceless, we thank you very much. We hope this wont happen again if so we will call you for anything not covered and will recommend you to any one who will listen.

I was very pleased this Mr. Rooter. We have lived in Amarillo for a long time and never have really found a good plumber, we have now. Thanks again for the great service.
Description of Work: We had a sink and shower stopped up in two ends of the house. The plumber was very efficeint in locating the stopped up areas and did not waste alot of time checking here and there or trying to sell us on doing all of the lines. He did a great job.

Our sewer line has had a troublesome and repetitive history of clogging due to what we assumed to be tree roots in the line. The usual solution has been to rent a sewer machine and perform the clean out ourselves through the rooftop vent as there was no ground level cleanout access available. In three years we have had to do this approximately six times. I decided to call Mr Rooter based on other favorable reviews on this site and was greeted by a polite and helpful customer service representative who explained that they would not give any approximate pricing over the phone, but would send a technician out who would evaluate the issues and present pricing on site, with no obligation to purchase services. She scheduled the visit for the same day, within the following two hours with a promise to call me upon dispatching the technician so I could leave work to meet him. I did receive a call about 90 minutes later and met Jonathan at my home 20 minutes after that. Jonathan listened attentively to my explanation of the history and details of my experience with this issue, and proceeded to inspect the indoor fixtures and outdoor conditions. I asked for an estimate to simply locate the line in case I wanted to install a ground level cleanout myself, and also for estimates to thoroughly clean out and inspect the line in addition to the location service. He promptly provided the pricing for these services and I decided to have him proceed with both the cleaning and inspection/locating. Another technician was dispatched to assist and to bring additional equipment an together they worked hard and in a very professional manner to accomplish the tasks. They discovered that our sewer line exits the property in an unusual manner and gave extra effort to locate it and figure out how the original plumbers had laid it out. I was also advised as to where and how a ground level cleanout should be installed and was offered very reasonable estimates for the installation of a cleanout when I decide to have them out to add that in the future. I was very pleased with the level of service and professionalism of this company, and will recommend Mr Rooter to anyone who asks for a plumber reference.
Description of Work: Sewer line cleaning and locating, single-story rooftop vent access. Estimating for sewer line cleanout installation.
