Gary's performed a service call several days prior to installing a new furnace. Assessment of old furnace was thorough and found cracks in the heat exchanger that were allowing carbon dioxide to escape into the home's interior - understandably, no repairs could be made on a heater with these safety issues. The cracks were shown on a video camera and supported with publications of other damaged heating systems. Estimate on replacement options was timely, fair, and all questions were answered satisfactorily. Old York furnace was removed and Carrier installed, with all necessary adjustments, in a few hours. Installation team protected floors with tarps and cleaned when job was complete. The offer was made to paint around new, smaller thermostat control, if materials were readily available. Previous service call charge was credited against the cost of new furnace upon purchase. A snafu with daily limit on bank card intended for payment, was handled well by Gary's personnel - they allowed me to bring a cashier's check to their office for full payment later that afternoon. A maintenance care plan was initiated through Gary's for future service on the new unit. Attention to detail, courtesy, and compassion were major aspects that are rare and greatly appreciated (e.g., each technician was careful to close doors behind them each time they entered and exited during the entire process). July 2012 update: Gary's evaluated evaporator coil as being faulty after floor buckled from escaping condensate. Quoted $1800 to replace just the coil; replaced through another local company for $800. Maintenance care plan was cancelled.

Excellent overall experience. IF I were replacing the evaporator, I would call around first to compare prices. The tech showed me exactly where it was failing, so I now know what to ask for. On a positive note, the AC is still cooling fantastic after charging the system 2 weeks ago.
