Great company with "above and beyond" service! Jason and Mike showed up ahead of schedule and were professional and courteous. They explained the process, answered my questions and promptly got started. They were efficient and cleaned things up when they were finished. The entire process took just under two hours for my home with 13 registers and two return air intakes. They were good guys all around and I highly recommend them!

I purchased an Angie's List deal after contacting the owner, Les Clow, who recommended that it would be the best value for the service I needed. They arrived early, were very professional, and did a great job. We will definitely use them again in the future.

Thanks for the work! We were able to clean the entire system in this townhome. Then we applied a bacteriostat to help eliminate fungus, molds, mildews and germs and the odors caused by them.

The owner came over Saturday morning (6/30) to look at my system and give me a quote. My main area of concern was inside of my air handler unit where the walls were covered with a disgusting layer of green/brown/black dirt & fuzzy "growth". He told me that they would pull out the insulation that was covered with the dirt/growth and replace it with new foam board insulation that was treated to prevent any growth from happening in the future. He told me that it would also be treated behind the insulation to make sure that no growth could happen back there and he told me that the new insulation would be sealed around the edges with "duct sealer" to get it completely sealed. He also walked me through the rest of the system and told me everything else that would be cleaned and treated and how it would be done. It was a very thorough explanation. He gave me a written estimate listing all of the work that was to be completed including handwritten notes for replacing the insulation in the air handler with foam duct-board. I liked the thoroughness of the quote and how I was told that they were going to hit every part of my system that could be nasty and give it a professional cleaning and replacement. Two workers showed up on time on Tuesday (7/3) to do the work. When they arrived, they told me that the way that the disgusting air handler (my #1 reason for calling) was going to be cleaned would be different than what I was told three days earlier by the owner. I was told that the approach that was included in the quote "wasn't possible" and that they were going to go a different route. This route was less time and material intensive, so they said that it would save me $150. (I appreciate the gesture, but my goal was getting my system as clean as possible, not cutting corners to save money.) Instead of removing all of the old disgusting insulation and replacing it with brand new, specially treated foam board like I was told (and why I wanted to use this company), they told me that they were just going to clean off the old insulation and treat it to kill any possible "growth" and then seal it with duct sealer so that nothing could grow on the surface. I didn't like being sold one thing on the day of the estimate and then receiving something else on the day of service, but the workers reassured me that this route would take care of all of my problems and that it would be just as good as the other route, but for $150 less. I trusted them and let them get to work. They spread plastic out throughout my place to protect from getting anything dirty or damaged. While one guy worked on cleaning the supply grills & boots and rotobrushing & vacuuming out the ducts, the other guy worked on cleaning out the air handler unit. The air handler is an enclosed unit in one of the bathrooms, so he had to use sheet metal snips to cut an access hole in the bottom of the unit. From this small access hole, he cleaned the dirty insulation and the cooling coils inside. He was working somewhat blind because his access hole was so small, he couldn't really look around inside of the unit to see all of it. He worked for a while on cleaning it and then called me in to take a look at it. I put my Iphone up through the supply vent in the bathroom and shot video with the light on in a 360 degree motion and then brought it down to see what it looked like inside. There were still a lot of places that hadn't been cleaned. I showed the worker the video and also some areas that I could see with my bare eyes through his access hole that needed to be cleaned. He went back to work cleaning some more. After a while, I came back in and saw how he was applying duct sealer to the inside of the unit and it didn't look good. I called the owner to complain about what I was getting and he told me that it wasn't going to look pretty (which I wasn't worried about), but that once they were finished, it would take care of what I needed, which was sealing up all the dirt and preventing future growth. The guys were still in the middle of the process, so I let them keep working, hoping that it would get better. One of the times that I inspected their work, I asked about the insulation that was hanging off of the top of the air handler because of the weight of the duct sealer that had been put on it. (Duct sealer is a very thick, putty-like paste.) I asked if it was going to be glued back to the top of the unit so that it didn't hang down to collect dust and block air flow, and I was told that it would be. (I don't know if they attempted to glue it back up, but when I inspected inside the unit a few days later, it was still hanging down.) From inspecting the unit, I estimate that about 25% of the air handler actually got covered with duct sealer, about 80% of the insulation got a good cleaning, and 50% of the cooling coils actually got cleaned. Towards the end of the process, I asked them if they had cleaned the fans on the air handler unit. (There are two of them that are very easy to get to.) They told me that they had. When I inspected their work again a few days later, I looked at the fans for the first time. I ran my finger across multiple fan blades and they all had about 1/8" of dust caked up on them. There were no marks in the dust that any attempt at cleaning had been made. It was all pristine-ly dusty. At one point I came VERY close to sending them home because I didn't feel like things were getting cleaned anywhere near how I was told that they would be and how I wanted them to be. I calmed down and talked myself out of that, but I did go to my garage and got my tools and brought them back. I told them that if they needed to cut the bottom out of the unit to be able to access it properly so that they could clean it thoroughly, then that's what they should do and that they could use my tools for that. They told me that it wasn't necessary because they had given it a thorough cleaning and that they had completely soaked the inside of it with a "growth" killing chemical that would take care of whatever they couldn't reach and that when they fogged the unit, that anything that hadn't been taken care of by the other steps, would be treated by the fog. They convinced me that they had done enough, so I backed off and let them finish working. They taped up the hole that they had cut in the air handler, cleaned up any mess that was made, picked up their protective plastic, gathered their tools, and were finished with the inside work. The final step was to clean out the coils on my unit outside. While they were doing that, one of the workers commented to me that the fan blade was nicking one of the wires inside of the unit. He said that he had moved it out of the way, so that it wouldn't get hit anymore. That was a good thing... until three days later when I was out of town for the day and I got a call from my roommate that our AC wasn't working (IN JULY). When I got back home at 10:00pm from being gone all day, I went straight to the condensor unit and found that the wire that was moved out of the way, was now cut in half. (It had worked fine for 4.5 years, and then they "fixed" it and it stopped working three days later.) I took the unit apart, reconnected the wire, and got my AC working again. I wasn't able to really put my eyes on the duct cleaning, so I can't say much about it. It happened and I hope it was done well. Everything that I was able to put my eyes on and inspect, I was not pleased with. They had initially assured me of the cleaning inside of the air handler unit, but after finding other things that were supposed to be done that weren't and having continued allergy related health problems, I don't trust their work anymore. I now get to spend a day taking apart my air handler unit, pulling out the old dirty insulation, cutting foam board and gluing it in, sealing everything up, putting it all back together, and vacuuming the fan blades. I would've gladly paid someone to do that for me, but it "wasn't possible". Now I get to do it myself. I hired them because of all of the "A"s that they've received. Either I was an oddball situation that doesn't reflect on their usual level of service, or I'm the one guy that actually got up on a ladder and watched them closely and thoroughly inspected their work afterwards. I don't know which one it is, but I wouldn't use them again or refer them to others. ******UPDATE... 1) I called Les Clow during the work and told him that I didn't like what they were doing. I never received any kind of follow up from him. By the time the AC unit failed and I found other work that was not done, I wanted to give AngiesList users a picture of the work since the website is the reason for my first using them. 2) The "small part of the scope of work" that was changed was my entire reason for calling them. It was the only thing we talked about on the phone and the main piece of our conversation when he came out to quote the work. Changing it did not serve me better. I voiced this to Les when I called him during the work and to his tech. They both told me that the alternative method would be just as good as what I was quoted. I should have been a jerk then and sent them home or told them to not do the work, but since the tech told me that what I was quoted "wasn't possible", I listened to them. Now I'm p***** at myself for listening to them because I know it is possible. They never asked me if I wanted one option or the other. They just told me that the best fix was no longer an option so I had to go with the other choice.
Description of Work: 1) Spread plastic to protect their work area. (Completed.) 2) Removed the supply grills, cleaned out the boots, sprayed stuff to kill any "growth". (Completed.) 3) Rotobrushed my air ducts. (Completed.) 4) Cleaned the evaporator coils in the air handler unit. (They cleaned about half of it because that's what they could reach through their little access hole.) 5) Clean blower fans. (This didn't happen even though I asked them if they had done it and they told me "yes". A day or two after their visit, I ran my hand over the fan blades and each one had about 1/8" of dust caked up on it. There are no signs that any cleaning was done.) 6) Clean supply plenum (There are still large areas of dust/"growth" on the walls. They couldn't clean it well because they didn't have good access to get into the unit.) 7) Ran a fogger through the system to kill anything it touched. (I didn't witness this, but they said they did it.) 7) Cleaned the coils on my condenser unit. (Completed, but caused the unit to fail 3 days later.) 8) Cleaned up their work area. (Completed.) *** NOTE: The term "growth" was used because nothing was sent to a lab to determine if it was actually mold or not. I scraped some of the dirt/"growth" stuff off of the air handler walls and got a very good look at it. Whatever it was, it was fuzzy and NASTY! I told the owner and the workers that I had purchased my condo as a foreclosure and that it had previously been used as Section 8 housing by DISGUSTING tenants. I also told them that I had been struggling with allergy related health issues for years after moving in, so the goal of needing to get the place as clean as possible was clearly communicated.

Thanks for the input! Our goal is 100 % satisfaction. I would hope that future members would call me (Les Clow 972-322-4356)with any concerns about our work. We did change a small part of the scope of the work to better serve the member and reduce the overall cost of the project. Not cutting corners, but a completely different process to mitigate the suspect growth. We do call it suspect growth, because we are not industrial hygienists or run a testing lab. We encourage any members that would like to know the exact makeup of any suspect organic growth (suspect mold, mildew, fungus) to call a testing lab. We can refer one in the DFW area. We will be glad to come out and resolve any questions related to your system cleaning until you are satisfied with our service. Thanks again for your input! This is what makes Angies List a great resource for homeowners.

We appreciate the work and the review! One of our toughest challenges as AC duct system cleaners is the removal of tar and nicotene from smoking. It requires that our technicians have extensive training on how to remove it, and the odors associated also. Cleaning systems when someone buys an existing home is a big part of our work. Typically, it is for cleaning after the previous owners had pets, smoked in the home or didn't take care of regular cleaning of the system. Thanks to our Princeton member customers!

Contacted North Texas Duct Cleaning after checking and reading Angie's List reviews. Talked with the owner Les who answered the call and he gave a full explanation of the service they perform for air duct and A/C coil, blower, intake plenum cleaning and system sanitizing. The guys that showed up were Josh & Jason and they were on time and very professional and courteous.I inspected the A/C coil and intake plenum and it was completely cleaned very well and should now help with the overall system operating more efficiently. They sanitized the system but we chose not to introduce the odor blocker/neutralizer since my wife is sensitive to any smells we wanted to avoid any possible problem. It was a great experience overall and we will use this company again for future HVAC and duct cleaning.

Thanks for choosing us! This member started our conversation by asking if we work in Lake Kiowa. The answer was yes. Then I asked, "Where is Lake Kiowa?". That is the service you get as Angies List members. We go far and wide so that you only have to make one call. We knew expectations were really high on this project as the owners wife is a service provider for pet sitting on Angies List. Owner and one helper arrived just prior to our scheduled appointment. They were both very courteous and professional. They made very effort to avoid debris falling as they performed the duct cleaning and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. All A/C vents were also washed individually with soap and water, which was nice. The owner stated that we did not need attic insulation; this was a plus, since insulation is an additional service that they provide.

Thanks to my Trenton customers! After inspecting the attic and their existing levels of insulation, it didn't make any sense to add additional blown fiberglass on top. They had a great insulating factor already. The system on this house was easily accessible through a scuttle hole. Everything was going great until I saw the snake skin in the drain pan! That made things a little more interesting. All in all we cleaned the entire system and sanitized to eliminate germs, bacteria, mold and mildew. Thanks for the work!

Josh and Jason were very professional individuals who cleaned my ductwork. They ran into a snag where the hose ended up stuck in the ductwork. In the process of going into the attic to identify the issue, they found a problem with a section of my ductwork where it was coming apart. They told me they repaired it. Mind you, it was an incredibly hot N. Texas day as usual, so the attic had to be sweltering. I did have an issue that I reported the next day to the owner, Les, and he came out himself within about 1 hour to address it. I have never followed up with a company to report an issue I've observed...I usually just let it go or fix it myself. But, this company has high ratings and recommendations and has a 100% guarantee, so, for once, I decided to call to discuss it with the owner. Les truly stands behind that guarantee. What to me was the most impressive was Les' own professionalism. He made me feel like I was a valued customer and not a nuisance while at the same time not throwing his own employees under the bus. I really liked that. I also asked him for an estimate to have insulation blown in my attic, which I will do in the near future. This is a good company. They have integrity, and they want to keep their customers. I think they are wonderful.

I contacted North Texas Duct Cleaning through the Angie's List website on May 28th, which was on Memorial Day, and sent a message to Les Clow. To my surprise he called me back within 5 minutes of my request! Les took the time to answer all of my questions and to make sure that I understood all of the services that would be performed. I scheduled the service for 6/15/12 at 2pm. The technician that Les scheduled was a gentleman by the name of Jason Abbott. Jason arrived right on time, was professional, efficient and organized. He made sure to clean up and reorganize each area before he moved on to the next task. Jason was also extremely knowledgable and made sure to explain the process as it was happening. The whole experience from start to finish was great. I found North Texas Duct Cleaning on Angieslist and spoke with Les the owner. He was very professional and honest throughout the entire process which was great. His workers were also professional and skilled at what they do. Its nice not having to stand over the shoulder of the people doing the work. I believe Les gave me a fair price because I also recieved 2 other bids from professional companies and they were all very close. I ended up choosing Les because of his character. Like I said very honest, knowledgable, professional, and really seemed to enjoy his job.

Yep-its a rare occurance-but not every air duct system needs to be cleaned. Typically, every 3-5 years your system should be cleaned to reduce allergens and dust in your home. Thanks for the report!

The crew arrived exactly on time. The job proceeded well and they were done just when they said they would be. The job was VERY WELL DONE! I was surprised and pleased to see that every room was completely clean when they were done. No evidence that big equipment had been in the rooms and a big job had been done. They were very careful to protect belongings and furnishings. Definitely an "A" company based on my experience.
Description of Work: All ducts, vents and "return air" vents in our 2-story house was thoroughly cleaned. Also, both our furnace units were completely cleaned on the inside. They also checked for any evidence of mold or mildew in the home duct system...none found, thank goodness!

Thanks for the great review! This home built in the late 70's is listed for sale and the owners wanted the air to smell as fresh as possible when prospective buyers came in. We cleaned the entire system, ducts and registers. We then used a mild chemical fog treatment to eliminate bacteria, mold, mildew, germs and fungus. A leading source of odors. Then we use a fogging treatment to help eliminate smoke smell. Then to ensure continued clean air smell for weeks, we added odor neutralizers to each unit. Good luck with selling your home!

They were great! Showed up on time, did the work, and cleaned up when they were done. Cleaned the ducts, sealed them up, and it feels like our a/c works better now! Very nice and set up an appointment pretty quickly when we told him we wanted to get the ducts cleaned before we brought our new baby home.

Thanks for using Angies List and the great report! When a new baby is coming home it is always a good idea to make sure the indoor air quality is as good as possible. Heck, its a good idea to improve your indoor air quality even if you're not bringing a newborn home. We also find that we clean lots of duct systems when homeowners move into an existing home, to reduce allergens and reduce dust in the home. One of the processes of cleaning that is really important during the summer, is the cleaning of the evaporator coil. This is the part of the furnace that conditions the air so that it is cold when it enters the space where you live. Cleaning this helps your AC run better, and last longer. Congratulations on the new addition to the family!

We've used the HVAC side of North Texas Duct Cleaning/HVAC twice now. Once on March 29 and a second time on May 31. MARCH 29 REVIEWWe had NTDC come out for a second opinion following a tune-up that was a result of a "special" through Champion Energy (Allied Home Warranty was the contact and was the company they sent out to provide the tune-up was Lone Star Repair Texas HQ in Houston -- FYI, Allied is tied to LS). The rep for Lone Star stated that our upstairs unit was fine (it's less than 2 yrs old), but that our downstairs unit has mold and rust on the coils, was leaking freon and was a carbon monoxide hazard waiting to happen. They quoted $9985 for a new Trane 14 seer system. The whole thing smelled funny. North Texas Duct Cleaning was coming out to clean out our ducts, clean the coils/plenum, etc. shortly thereafter, so we asked what they found. No surprise -- nothing. Les, the owner, sent out James (he knows his stuff) to give us a second opinion. James indicated there was no rust, no mold, a minor carbon monoxide leak that all units of this make have (but nothing to worry about) and that units over 10 yrs old generally do start to leak freon. He pointed out that the tech from the other company never even opened up or looked at the unit (cobwebs, etc. still in place over the casing and screws) and that he doubted that he had added the 1.5 lbs of freon that came with the tune-up (the tech from Lone Star also tried to sell us 2.5 lbs of freon for $500). We had James add 2.5 lbs of R22 freon ($175). The service call was $59 for a total of $234. MAY 31 REVIEWOur upstairs (newer) air conditioner sprang a leak (stair on ceiling). We were surprised by this since we had a float switch that should have shut the unit off if it overfilled. However, the leak was not in the tray, but down by the plenum area. We contacted our home warranty company (One Guard, which we have had great experience with) and they sent out J National. Two guys arrived (nice guys) and said our drains were clogged. They blew them out and charged out $59 (service call) and $150 (blow out drains). They blew out our drains w/o asking if we wanted then to perform the "not covered under policy" work (side note: it was suppose to be covered and One Guard mailed us a refund promptly). However, we still had a leak. We contacted J National and the guy over the phone had my husband look at various things (HVAC fix it yourself via phone instructions). I told my husband I did not want to deal w/ this company further and contact North Texas Duct Cleaning/HVAC again. Les came out and unscrewed the cover and stated the problem was improper installation, which is why it was not draining into the pan. Since the previous owners did not leave us any information on who installed the unit and our home warranty does not cover improper installation (makes sense) we hired Les to make it right. He did for $135. The problem is now fixed. We have had great experience with Les' company 3x now: duct/furnace cleaning and HVAC work.

Thanks for having us out again to solve your AC problem. For some reason when this unit was installed, the coil and primary drain were slanted toward the supply plenum instead of the primary drain outlet. We were able to rehang the coil so that it drains properly. We spend alot of time following up after other companies to verify their AC recommendations or giving second opinions/proposals. We will only recommend what is needed and for a reasonable price. Thanks for the great review!

Thanks for using Angies List and North Texas Duct Cleaning/AC for cleaning your dryer vent. We appreciate the work. When a dryer vent is clogged or has restricted airflow a couple of things will happen: the dryer will feel hotter than normal on the outside and it will take longer for clothes to dry. Leaving a dryer vent clogged may lead to the heating element going out and worst case start a fire.

The guys were absolutely fantastic! Very nice, professional, punctual and their work was above and beyond what I expected. They even helped my carpenter (who was there installing a mantel board) hold up a big heavy cedar board while he screwed it in the wall. We are moving in to a (new to us) home and the previous owners did not take care of their air conditioner and filters...when they were done, everything was clean as if it was brand new and the air in the house is so much cleaner now. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone needing work done.

Thanks for the work! We always recommend getting your AC checked up before it gets into the really hot part of summer. We were able to check out this two ac system house for amout of freon, capacitor performance, electrical connections, blower motor performance and many more service items. Because the units were low on freon, the home wasn't cooling as well and as comfortable as it should have been. Now the member is ready for the dog days of summer. Thanks for the review!

My a/c was blowing warm air only, so Les got someone out here promptly to look at it. I also asked for the $59 special on the checkup. James, the repairman, checked things out and was back in less than a minute saying the outside unit wasn't working. He went back out to fix it and was back in literally about a minute. He said, "Now, don't think I'm really this good, but your problem is fixed." Wow! It was a loose wire connection. He reconnected the wire and fixed the problem in a minute. Then he performed the checkup and discovered a short in one of the lines coming in from the outside unit. He fixed that in just three minutes or so, and then he checked out my ductwork to see if it looked okay. He gave it a passing grade and advised me to get more attic insulation. He said the charge was $59. I said, "That can't be right. That's how much the checkup costs." He said he was only going to charge me for the checkup because he didn't spend four minutes fixing the problems and didn't want to take me to the cleaners. I am so very grateful to Les for hiring such an excellent employee and to James for being such an excellent and professional yet friendly repairman. I couldn't ask for a better, more positive experience with any type of service company. I've already recommended them to several friends, one of whom plans to hire them to work on her a/c. They're wonderful!

Great comments! Thanks! When you hire an AC company, typically they charge not just for how long the job takes, but for the knowledge of the technician. If we are already on an AC project and can complete a repair in a short amount of time, we include it. We treat everyone like we like to be treated. And thanks for the referrals!
