 + -1 moreThey were here about an hour. Cleaned up well outside and insided. Swept out flue, cleaned out residue inside the stove and out, Adjusted the vent on top of the roof.
Description of Work: I decided to have my Wood Stove and Flue cleaned for the season. I do this every year. Ashbusters just happened to give me a call advertizing a couple of weeks before and we were considering a new homeowners policy to boot. I wanted to make sure the thing was well cleaned from the year before and their would be no problem with its fuctionality. The guy cleaned the thing well. He was very pleasant. After I closed the door, he came back minutes later and had forgotten to "measure" the thing. Days later, I got an estimate of repairs that didn't need to be done. It was a whopper. Said that the brick behind the stove wasn't even fire brick and they needed to replace it. This house is 15 years old and I've had two other home owner insurance companies that had no problem with the thing. Thus the insurance company wouldn't cover my home and now its on our record. Just be very careful about this company writing you an offical inspection. Or get a second opinion. Would have cost us big bucks. I now have insurance with someone else but what a hassle.

 + 1 moreThey came over right away when we called, and didn't even charge us for the original repair. Then, since we needed to have the other chimney capped, we had that done a couple of days later. They are always on time, always courteous, and professional. Very easy to do business with. AND, they sent us cookies.
Description of Work: This is the second time we have used Ashbusters and we will continue to use them. A tree fell on our house and did some minor damage including shifting the chimney cap that Ashbusters installed. They came over right away and fixed it free of charge. While they were there they looked at the other chimney to see if Chimney Sweep (birds) had moved in, (last year they were unable to cap it because of them), and they hadn't, so they went ahead and capped it for us a couple of days later.

When the part was ready they scheduled a day and time and were prompt and efficient and cleaned up well. There was a small mis-communication about pricing but it was resolved and the work was excellent.

 + 0 more2 service men arrived. inspecete chimneys and tried to push for services i did not ask for. wanted to videotape the inside of chimney and put sealer on top of chimneys. in my opinion the chimney caps, which i had priced online, were marked up too much and the overall price too rich for my blood. chimney caps can be bought online for no more than $135 depending on size. this company, imho, trains their service people, like those of comcast, to bleed your wallet to death. i have no use for these type of businesses. in future i will use independent individual chimney sweeps/workmen

 + 1 moreThis was one of the best purchase & installation experiences I have ever had. From the office staff's courtesy in scheduling to the estimate provided to the installation of my new fireplace (by Bob and Mark), which was nothing short of superior workmanship, I can attest to the exceptionally high quality of this company. Even the owner stopped in during installation to answer questions and make sure I was satisfied. The price was very fair considering the amount of work included in the order. I couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Old damaged wood-burning fireplace was removed completely because it was unsafe, even for the installation of gas logs (this was confirmed by two other professionals in this line of business). After removing the entire mantle and pieces of decorative marble, the old fireplace was removed; The new un-vented firebox was installed with perfection and the marble and mantle were replaced so that no one would ever know all of the detailed work that took place. They even had to cut the marble so that it fit perfectly on the sides and top of the firebox. They installed a new chimney cap and did a lot of re-pointing (replacing mortar) in numerous holes on the outside of the chimney itself. They even replaced mortar they saw missing low on the chimney...work I had not requested, but was sorely needed. Above and beyond is who they are and what they do.

 + -1 moreEasy to contact and set up the initial inspection. Good communication to confirm dates and times. Narrow window for having to have somebody available, which is helpful in making sure you can be there and not miss work. Great feedback on troubleshooting and itemized estimate. Spot-on with the estimate and overall good quality, neat work. The mortar repair matches that of the existing mortar on the brick on this 80-plus-year-old house in a historic neighborhood. They came just as scheduled, and we didn't have to be at home for this job, as everything was confined to the exterior of the chimney.
Description of Work: Gave an initial inspection to locate the exact trouble areas and described these indetail. Provided chimney repointing, sealing chimney top, resealing flashings, plugging openings and removing nests where birds had nested. Overall inspection and repair of trouble spots in mortar.

 + -1 moreThey had to call me half hour ahead so I could meet them. They never called me. The guy came to the house, but wasn?t able to get inside the chimney. He gave me a quote just looking it from the outside, which I thought was not very thorough. Later a person from the office called to ask how things went. I told him what happened in detail. He apologized and he was supposed to send me an "e-mail quote" and he never did. They called me again to find out how the service was done, I told them that I never got an e-mail quote for the work. They never did the work at all. The person in the office was very nice, at least they called me to find out, but i still didn't get a quote when i told her that everything was not going very well. They were supposed to meet me, but they didn't. The guy was here on time.

 + -1 moreEverything went really well. We bought the house about a year and a half ago. I had told my wife that I wouldn?t have fire in my fireplace until we have it cleaned and I kept putting it off. We had actually contacted someone else, but they never came out. We then called Ashbusters several months later and they came out. We have one fireplace which is a ventless gas fireplace which actually doesn?t go out of the chimney. So there was no cleaning necessary, but they did show me as to how to operate it. The other one had never been used even though it was eight years old, but there was no use of cleaning it too. I asked the guy who came out some questions about how to use it and about the safety. However, they did charge me $99 for the service, but it was definitely worth it. I don?t know if someone else would have admitted that it didn?t need cleaning. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

 + -1 moreOnce I found this company and called, they quickly came, inspected/measured, ordered materials, constructed the chase and installed it. A special note: the installer worked in a very difficult situation--high, pitched roof. He clearly was very skilled and experienced at this dangerous work.
Description of Work: Although this was paid for by my insurance company, I found this company and dealt with them. After much searching for a way to repair the chimney cap (chase) toppled by a tree falling on my house, I eventually discovered it could not be repaired. Only then did I discover Ashbusters. In fact, all trails led to this one company.

 + -1 moreAnother contractor doing work on my condo noticed that my dryer vent was disgusting. He suggested that I get it cleaned quickly. Went on-line to Angie's List, found that Ashbusters had the highest rating and best reviews. Booked them on Mon. for a late afternoon appointment on Tues. The service man called early afternoon Tues. to say that he was running ahead of schedule and could he come early. Well, yes! Waiting on home repairs is a drag. He came immediately, quickly and thoroughly cleaned the vent, cleaned up after himself and allowed me to get on with my day!

 + -1 moreWe noticed our chimneys were leaking into our attic during the Nashville flood of 2010 so we called Ashbusters and they came right over on the day and at the time they said they would to look at the chimneys. John looked, took pictures so we could see the problems, and gave a detailed estimate. We were given a choice of having some or all of the work done. They were very good about follow up, not pushy, just kept in touch, and we did decided to have it all done. They came over at the appointed time and did the work as described, except for one little problem that they couldn't help which was that a family of sweeps had moved into one chimney and since they are protected, they could not cap that as planned, (we'll have to wait till they leave!). And we forgot to use our Angies list $10 coupon and our 10% senior citizen discount that I just now noticed, (but I would say that's our bad really). They were super nice and very clean and I would/will definitely use them again. Worth the money, (you get what you pay for).
Description of Work: Waterproofed 2 chimneys, one large, one small, repointed both, sealed flashing on both, (we had leak issues), and put a new cap on one.
