Ashbusters Chimney Service Inc

The chimney inspection was very thorough. The technician used a snake with a camera to inspect entire chimney interior. Cleaning was fast and professional. I would highly recommend them.

On the Big Deal there was a guarantee that they would perform the service by a certain date. That date came and passed without a phone call. I even followed up through Angie's List and it still required me to call them to get a date set. They did do a great job on the actual service. Then I called them back a few weeks later to see what they would charge to install some new gas logs. They promised me a call back within business days with a time and price estimate. They never called back. Their professionalism and responsiveness is sloppy. Otherwise, the service is great.

Showed us video of inside of chimney, explained what we were seeing. Showed us issues with chimney exterior and explained those issues. Provided a menu of solutions we could choose from, if we so desire. These ranged from minimal additional cost to extensive work that included a custom 3ft X 6ft chimney cap to cover entire crown. Very much appreciated that they provided a range of options for our consideration. Expert, professional service. Well explained and detailed issues. Clear quotes on additional work.

They came out to check and service the chimney. We just bought the house and wanted to make sure everything was working.

The service provided was as expected. The inspection results were very informative and Brandon, the serviceman, provided a lot of information about the chimney and was able to speak about its history based on his findings. I used his inspection results to schedule a follow up visit. Brandon returned on the date scheduled and performed repairs to the chimney, repairing the mortar on the chimney cap, and spraying Smoke-tite in the chimney itself. They also applied a water proofing on the exterior brick of the chimney. Afterwards, I had to have them come back out to touch up some of the Smoke-tite that had fallen off. They were prompt and considerate on their return visit and corrected the spots that needed fixing.

He came actually a little early which was great! He got started immediately and was finished very quickly and did a great job! I would definitely recommend!

They were excellent. They recommended some work to be done and we chose not to do it at this time. We may use them down the road for that work, however. They were on time and the gentleman was courteous and professional. I liked what he did and how he did it. It was a good experience overall.

We bought a Angie's List deal for a chimney cleaning and inspections for $99 or so and then asked for another as we have two chimneys and the company agreed to the reduced rate of $99 to do the second one. They were extremely nice to talk with. They ended up charging us around $500 or so because we have 4 fireplaces. One chimney services 3 of the fireplaces, so there was a bit of a misunderstanding of the real cost. The second two fireplaces were charged at a higher rate. The reason we didn't use them for repairs is the numbers they gave us were so high we were shocked. They wanted around $50,000 to rework what they said needed doing. The previous owners had been using the chimneys and so we were very surprised at the estimate to care for them. So we ended up spending a lot of money and didn't end with anything useful to us. Some of the photos they emailed with the estimate were of someone else's chimneys. In the other photos they sent, we couldn't really tell what we were looking at. They were just blurry dark photos. We just didn't feel like we could work with them because of the cost and because we couldn't really tell if the problems they suggested were really there. I'm not saying they weren't being honest, it just wasn't possible to tell. They were extremely polite though.

It seems to all go well. The gentleman who did the work did not know much about their other services OR did not want to talk about it I am not sure which.

Kevin was very considerate when running a few minutes late, promptly set up equipment and got to work. He answered all questioned in a professional manner and gave us options for the work recommended. We have a clean chimney!

This is the second time we have used Ashbusters for our Dryer Vent Cleaning and we will continue to use them annually for this service. They are prompt, clean, respectful and friendly. They also always do a great job!

I bought the Angies List guaranteed quick response and was never contacted even a week later. Now the house inspection is over and I don't need the service.

Great people. Came on time. Very professional. Did detailed inspections and discussed work that need to be done in the near future, but they did not push to get it done right away by them like other businesses would do. They cleaned up after themselves and they left no trace of dust despite the sweeping being indoors.

I had taken advantage of an Angie's list special to have my chimneys and dryer vents cleaned and inspected. The fireplace special was for $111 and the dryer cleaning was $179. The second fireplace would cost $179 (not charged for this, see below). Two technicians came, and after cleaning my dryer vent (I think they did this), they began on my downstairs fireplace. After completing there, they examined my upstairs fireplace and informed me that it was so bad, they would have to come back with more powerful tools and possibly chemicals, which would require additional charges. They showed me lots of pictures that they said indicated that one of my fireplaces was unsuitable for use and would require major repairs costing thousands of dollars. They also found problems with my chimneys that would need expensive repairs. They recommended a chimney coating procedure that they said was guaranteed for 20 years, although I got the impression that it had only been available for less than 10. After receiving their estimate of the work they recommended, which totaled over $10,000, I sought a second opinion from another professionally accredited chimney company. I did not reveal to them what I had been told, I just set up an appointment for cleaning and inspection. When the technician arrived, I was clear that I was especially concerned about the safety of my fireplaces, and I was willing to make any repairs that were necessary. This technician came prepared to do the rotary cleaning on my dirtier fireplace, which did not carry additional charges, and he also informed me that my downstairs fireplace was in need of cleaning. I told him that Ashbusters had performed this task, and he told me it still needed to be cleaned. After he had completed his inspections, I asked him about the specific items that Ashbusters had indicated were problem areas. He had found a few minor problems, which he corrected, but he did not agree with the assessment of Ashbusters, even after I told him that I was willing to make any repairs or perform preventative maintenance to head off future problems. This company is well equipped to make major repairs and had done so in my home in the past, so I believe that if he had found significant problems, he would have suggested that I take action. The total charge for the work he conducted in my home was $200. Ashbusters did follow up with phone calls to see if I had questions, and they offered to assign priorities to the suggested repairs according to the degree of severity. However, I was not inclined to continue working with them.
