Allens Air Duct Cleaning and Pressure Washing

Process went fine. Turned out I didn't need it as badly as I thought, so it may not have been the most effective use of $$, but if you know your air ducts need cleaning, I would recommend this provider.

It took a few tries to get ahold of him and schedule. He's a small business and he's the only one answering phones and scheduling, so getting in touch with him since he's out working a lot is sometimes problematic. On the day of the appointment, he arrived promptly and went straight to work. Seemed to have the proper equipment, although I don't know much about it, took a few hours, but got all 4 rooms and the return. When quoting a return job for the downstairs system which has a vaulted ceiling, he said he didn't have the equipment to get to the vaulted ceiling portions and get the vents up there, which is part of what needs to be done. He also quoted much higher than competitors in the area, including a quote for pressure washing the home. In the end, we used a Groupon for the pressure washing on the exterior and haven't done the downstairs yet, waiting to finish some other remodeling projects.

I purchased a coupon online for 199 dollars to clean all air ducts. Allen was very professional and responsive. He returned my initial call within the same day and I was able to get an appointment within 4 days. He arrived on time this morning and completed in about 4 hours. He was thorough, friendly and very neat. The house is 30 years old and the ducts were filthy, but he did not charge more than the $199. I will definitely call him again.

Everything went perfectly. The owner of the business showed up promptly and worked for several hours(clearly driven to do a good job) cleaning our duct-work. I felt he was genuinely there to help us. Rather than trying to "up-sell" us like some vendors do, he was frank/honest about what we need to do going forward(I thought I needed to clean our duct-work once every 6 months, but he explained why we only needed it once per year at most). He was courteous and professional and cleaned up after himself. GREAT COMPANY.

Allen, the owner, arrived exactly at the time he stated. All the work was done with attention to minor details. One of the vents had been installed in the wrong direction causing air to blow over kitchen table. He pointed this out and changed to correct position. I am completely satisfied with the job performed.

It was a good experience. We used his special Angie's List rate and were very satisfied with every aspect of his service. He arrived on time, was friendly and professional, and went about his business. We have about a 3,000 square foot house and he was finished in around 2 1/2 hours. We had wanted to have this done for some time and this rate allowed us to do it. We are very happy with our Angie's List service providers so far.

We couldn't be happier with the work Allen did and would recommend him to anybody. I would also mention that his top competitor(you know who they are from the tv ads)started at TWICE as expensive. Allen's a very down to earth and laid back guy but don't let that fool you. He knows his business and he will do anything to make sure you are happy. Just take a look at the review somebody left about him doing a huge house that wasn't happy and he completely refunded their money after doing hours of work just to make them happy.

The service was great. Allen did a thorough job cleaning out all my vents. He was timely and prompt to return phone calls. The service took about 2.5 hours and it was amazing to see how much dust and debris were sitting in the vents. It was definitely money well spent and I will call Allen again in a few years for another thorough cleaning.

Allen did an excellent job of cleaning our air conditioner ducts at very reasonable price compared to other quotes I received. We also have a smaller AC/heating unit with small number of vents, which he priced at a reduced rate rather than insisting on our purchasing an additional $199 coupon.He arrived on time, did what it took to reach all vents and returns and cleaned up before leaving. We would be happy to recommend his work and pricing to anyone.

The description of the Big Deal included unlimited vents and returns, and the service included 1 forced air unit, all the vents, branch lines and trunk lines of one system. When they arrived, I was informed that 99% of the time the trunk lines don't need to be cleaned, so he only cleaned the branch lines.

I have to say Mr. Allen did an excellent job. He contacted me to schedule a time to perform the work within a day of having purchased the deal. (The coupon deal states the customer should call the provider to get an appointment, and I intended to call him the following week, but was pleasantly surprised that he wanted to make sure I was taken of care promptly.) He arrived a little early (calling ahead to say he was coming), worked hard, and did a very thorough, consciencious job. Mr. Allen was concerned about doing the job well. It turned out that there were some very stubborn green areas which he went above the call of duty to remove... hand scrubbing and recleaning in order to get them off... he made sure it was really clean. He also pointed out some potential problems --like a piece of siding on the dormer which had come loose; I had not noticed it yet. He did not have to nail it back for me, but he put up his ladder and did! I think the job surprised us both in that it was more involved than either of us expected, yet he not only cleaned all areas, he wanted it to truly be done well. I am grateful for his dedication and desire to clean the siding of my house. Some people might have slacked off or done a slop job because it was a coupon deal and not a full price job. I don't feel Mr. Allen did this; he worked really hard and did a wonderful job. My house looked greated afterwards.

I don?t know where to begin. We hired Allens Air Duct Cleaning and Pressure Washing for a power washing job advertised through Angie?s List. It was advertised as a ?Whole Home Pressure Wash? for $179? ?a $400 value?. We have a brick house, so the only things we needed washed on the house were: 1) Underhangs of the roof 2) Some paint from the shutters which had washed down to the brick underneath 3) Our front wood rail To make up for what would equate to an entire house, we asked Allen if we could substitute our fence and deck. He said that was fine with him, and set the job up for Saturday. Thursday night after work I started to scrape the paint off the front rail to prep it for a paint job I planned on doing after the pressure wash. Just as I was beginning to scrape, my wife informed me that Allen would be stopping by to do the job on Friday morning instead of Saturday. I began feverishly scraping off the paint remover and was up until 2am to get it off to sync with Allen?s schedule. Friday morning Allen arrives and the first thing he says is ?you shouldn?t have done that? re the rail. I told him that I wouldn?t have done that if I had known and he would have given us an earlier notice about him changing his schedule. I proceeded to show him the rest of the spots that needed pressure washing. He had a complaint for every spot and an excuse ready for why it wouldn?t be done properly. Here are the hightlights: 1) Underhangs- That?s not going to come off he said. I asked him why pressure washing with bleach wouldn?t take dirt off of an underhang. He had no rebuttal. 2) Shutter paint on bricks- ?That?s not going to come off? he said. I told him that a previous contractor had told us that it would come off. He had no rebuttal. 3) Our front wood rail. Again, ?you shouldn?t have done that? he said. I know I heard you the first time. Give us more heads up next time you decide to change our appointment. In addition, I heard such complaints as: that?s going to be tough for me to reach, that?s not that dirty, and more. I could already tell that this guy was not going to do a good job. I told my wife ?I can already tell this guy doesn?t want to work?. When I left for work, he had just started on the front rail, and was peeling off paint and dropping it on the grass. I told him if he needed anything, to give me a call. This was about 10am. At noon, I decided to check in during my lunch break. I called my wife, and she informed me that Allen had bailed due to a ?family emergency?. When my wife asked him how much of the job had been completed, he refused to answer and asked ?how much did you pay?? ?Uh, $179? what the ?special? was for. He said he would finish the job on Saturday? maybe, I?ll get back to you.? Then he hung up on her. When I got there he hadn?t done anything more than what he had done before I left. He probably waited until after I left for work to bail on the job. He informed Angie?s List that he had a family emergency, and would not be able to take any jobs for the immediate future. Funny enough a friend of mine, who I had told about the special, called later in the day to set up a pressure wash later in the week, which Allen had no problems accommodating. I don?t know who to be more p***** at on this one. Allen for being awful, or Angie?s List for recommending him and leaving us holding the bag. At least Angies?s List is making an effort to replace this contractor with someone else who can do the job. Unfortunately this has pushed our fence seal and paint until July now. I would not recommend hiring Allen for any gig.

Allen himself came out to the house, and was very friendly and thorough. He was half the price of some of the other yahoos out there, and was very stright-forward. (I suppose he has lower overhead as a smaller operation, and can therefore charge less.) His equipment was clean and more than adequate, and he'll be the first one to let you know that duct cleaning is not exactly rocket science - (Don't let anyone else try to make it out to be more than what it is, basically vacuuming all of the debris out of your vents.) He also used a rotating brush to ensure that all of the debris was loosened and removed. No dust or mess kicked up from the registers as he worked, and he worked hard the better part of a day to complete the job. NOTE: He is also VERY honest. BE AWARE that if your duct registers are on the floor, they will be MUCH dirtier than if they are on the ceiling due to dust settling, kids dropping things down there, and ESPECIALLY lazy contractors sweeping debris into the registers for a "quick and easy clean-up" during construction. (Nails, debris, drywall dust, scrap tile, etc.) My house is 8 years old, and due to the above my first floor (with floor registers) was in dire need of service, but when he checked the upstairs he ensured me it absolutely did NOT need it. (Yours might, but take the above information for what it's worth.) In any case, Allen is great and I am considering utilizing his services next to seal my driveway...

Allen was able to schedule my job with on a short notice. He was punctual and wasted no time getting started after explaining the process he uses. My house was built in the late '60s and over it's lifetime there was remodeling that created a challenge to access four of ducts. I had accepted that those 4 registers could not be removed but Allen would not stop until he was able to remove the registers and thoroughly clean the ducts. All the registers were cleaned before replacing them in the floor/wall. He also advised me on the proper filters to use in my returns. Very careful moving equipment in and out. Will use again and recommend to all.

Mr. Allen was right on time and went right to work cleaning the duct work in our home. He did an excellent job. Cleaned up after himself, and gave us some recommendations. He was very personable and professional. We will definitely use him again.

Our experience with Allen's Air Duct Cleaning was superior from start to finish. We chose this company because of the great reviews here and because we prefer doing business with small, local companies. We are so glad we did! Allen does the work himself and has all of the special equipment to effectively clean air ducts. We had a bad smell coming from one of our air vents, and he went above and beyond to help us figure out what the cause was and fix it. Honest, fair, helpful, excellent service. Great price compared to other companies that do the same thing. I would highly recommend!
