Description of Work: They inspected and cleaned our chimney and fireplace. They also provided an insert for the fireplace to protect the bricks and deflect more heat into the house. Inspection is about $45, the sweep is about $100. We had the same man last year and this, and we highly recommend them. Great company.

The drive from Seymour to Oak Ridge must be at least an hour, but Kent (the son) arrived promptly, greeted me courteously, made friends with the dog (important) and set to work inspecting the chimney. Kent said it was not in desperate need of a cleaning, but since he and the equipment were here I had him clean it anyway. He was quick, thorough, efficient, and tidy, and left no evidence that he'd even been there. He also gave me tips and advice on using the fireplace and how often to have a cleaning (not as often as I had been led to believe). Kent is a Knoxville firefighter--he understands fires and has a great work ethic. There was no pressure for additional services and the rate was very reasonable.
Description of Work: We recently bought a 20-year-old house, and not knowing the condition of the chimney, we wanted to have it inspected (and cleaned, if necessary).

+ -1 moreI called this company to come clean and inspect my chimney as I am adding in a wood burning insert this year and the chimney has not been used in over 6 years so I wanted it looked ar carefully. This is a family owned business that consists of the father (Al) and the son (Kent) who also are firefighters for the Knox area. Who better to trust about warning you of fire hazards than a fire fighter, right? This company consists of the father who has been doing this for 25 years and the son who has been doing this with his father since he was able. I called them to make the appointment and he said he will come and do it to my schedule, day or night, it did not matter to him. Kent was early for the appointment (early enough to inspect my neighbors chimney also) and then he started mine right on schedule. He went inside the home and closed the damper to plug the hole from dust getting in. Then he went on the roof, removed and cleaned the chimney cap, brushed all of the walls of the liner multple times and at different directions. We then went inside, and he brought in his "vacuum cleaner" (not a typical black and decker or craftsman shopping vac), but a true hepa filtered high volume vacuum. This pulled soo much airflow, there was no chance of any dust getting anywhere. He cleaned the smoke shelf, and pulled all derbis down in to a bucket, he vacuumed and inspected the lower walls, even using a mirror to see up on the smoke shelf and inner walls. Then he cleaned removing all dirt and dust from the firelace, and surrounding brick. This guy is very professional and when it comes to fires. I would much rather trust someone who devotes their time to fire prevention than just someone off the street tyring to make a quick dollar. Also this guy was at least 30% lower than anyone else that I called. You won't be sorry.
Description of Work: Company was hired to clean (Brush) chimney, smoke shelf and inspect liner and base for any possible fire hazards. This company consists of 2 firefighters so I feel much better with their opinion on fire preventions and they still were 30% cheaper than anyone else.
