Firehouse Chimney & Duct Clean aka Seymour Chimney

Two young men showed up when they said they would. I had had to postpone my appointment due to illness and they were very understanding. They were clean cut and polite and very kind to my 3 pain in the butt dogs. They went right to work. They have a machine that scrubs the walls of the vent piping and vacuums at the same time. After they cleaned, they disinfected the vent pipes. They were fast, and they didn't leave a trace of dirt behind. I purchased this service through Angie's List at a bargain price. I live on a very small pension and I can't afford expensive services. But my system, to my knowledge, had never been cleaned since it was installed in 2003. I have been getting respiratory infections frequently whenever the system was in use. It was also leaving a weird looking brown dust on everything any time it was in use. I turned on the system and put a dryer sheet over 3 of the vents. In the past, the dryer sheets would be brown in 10 minutes. Today the dryer sheets were still white after a half hour. I am looking forward to being able to have a filter last more than a couple of weeks. I highly recommend Seymour Chimney Cleaning Service for any of the services that they provide.

`The guys arrived a little early and introduced themselves. they asked if it was OK if they were early. They promptly began to work. They both were very polite and professional. I liked that they did not try to sell me other services that I did not need. Very clean, no left over mess. Best team in the business!

Great service by men who are professional, prompt and just really nice guys. Called before they came went straight to work. Then, they left the place smelling really good with a deodorizer. No smoky smelling residue. I will definitely be calling again next year.

I am sorry I don't remember the amount as we added on over twenty air vents to clean, but what a professional and thorough job they did! I would recommend them with no reservations at all. Very competent, caring and thorough. No cleanup necessary after they left. They were so neat and cleaned up after themselves. Thanks!

Kent showed up at exactly 2pm, as scheduled, and was very thorough, professional and courteous. He explained what to do to prevent the cracks in our masonry which he observed, offered tips for easier fire starting, even asked if we had pets because he was concerned about them getting out the door when he brought in his equipment. He even cleaned and oiled our fireplace screen and metal frame and gave us a fire safety brochure on his way out the door. A++++ service, highest recommendations.

They were very accommodating on the scheduling. Showed up promptly, explained what he was going to do. He was very kind and moved some furniture for me that I couldn't do by myself. He was very conscious about letting me know when it was going to get loud and let me move to another part of the house. Was very careful not to mark up the walls or floors with his equipment. The air is much cleaner (we have had a total of 5 dogs in the house in the 19 years we've lived here...). It really seems to have helped my husband's respiratory problems by not having all of that junk floating around in the air now!

Kent arrived on time, actually a little early, which was great. We have a wood burning insert that we use to heat our home in the winter. He was very thorough and extremely neat with his cleaning. The price was very fair, even with the extra $25.00 we paid because we live about 45 miles away from Seymour in Cocke County. We will definitely have him come back annually to inspect and/or clean our chimney again. He's professional and friendly and full of great life-saving tips since he is a fireman. Highly recommend!!

It when extremely well. They worked with us on getting the work done when it was good for us. Showed up on time and explained what was going to happen and about how long it would take. Completed the work in a timely manor and completed the job. I have placed his card in my rolodex so I can call them to come back next year for the dryer vent.

It went well. We had a little difficulty getting the date set but we weren't in rush so that was ok. I gave him an A for punctuality and responsiveness nonetheless because when we had the "I absolutely promise I will be there" date, he was there, on the dot! He did a super job, left the place as clean as a pin!

Kent Leitch was delayed a half hour in getting to our house but called to inform us he would be late. He worked quickly and efficiently and did a neat, clean job. He is very pleasant to deal with and chatted not only about the specifics of working with ducts in an older house such as ours but also about fire safety and security. We would be happy to work with him again.

I am extremely pleased with the service provided. We were contacted the same day that we purchased the deal on Angie's list and arranged to have the work done 2 days latter. The gentleman doing the work arrived promptly at 8 am and after looking over the arrangement of vents and ducts started work. He was very neat and made sure he did not dirty the rest of the house. He cleaned the vent covers and the ducts and provided several suggestions for keeping the dust collection down in the future. He was very thorough, polite, professional, and personable. We fully intend to have him come clean the chimney this fall. The quality of the work was excellent and his standard pricing is much better than the local competition.

Kent was very professional, courteous, clean and went out of his way to accommodate our needs. I bought the $175 deal but had to pay an extra $40 because of the number of vents I had (the deal is for 10 vents). When my wife told him she thought she had dropped a diamond ring in one of the vents he took extra time to try to find it. He even crawled under the house to take the vent apart but unfortunately did not find the ring. When he saw the dryer vent we were using he informed me that it should be replaced because it could be dangerous, but he cleaned it anyway. I have since replaced the entire vent system. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone and would use them again if I needed the service.

He was very honest with me and told me he didn't have the equipment to clean my vents properly. He was courteous, competent and professional. If I need my chimney cleaned, I am calling him.

Kent called before coming and was on time. Work was done with a regard for cleanliness. Kent was here approximately one hour performing clean up.

My stove was having issues smoking and Kent put new gaskets around the door as well as checking the chimney, stove and flues.

The job went well from start to finish. He was on time and provided all the work we requested quickly.

Arrived on time and went right to work. Took about 4 hours to complete. Seems to have done a nice job at a good price.

Overall, I found them to be sub par. I would not use this company again. They were not timely. It took over a month for them to finally show up to do the job after I gave the deposit. However they did call each time they did not show up. They never left me hanging. They were courteous and professional at all times. But, the final asthetics were not that pleasing. The attachment to the stove was crooked. They used inadequate screws to secure it that fell out three days later. (not the factory ones that came with the stove). They broke bricks in the chimney and fire place trying to pass the liner, rendering the fireplace unusable and in violation of building code. They were aware of this and made no attempts to replace or repair the broken bricks. I had to do additional masonry myself at a later date. A year later I decided to inspect the chimney lining in the guest room. I had never used the fireplace. The liner had been installed with duct tape around the lower edge connecting to the bricks. Duct tape is not fire retardant or acceptable in a fire place. After finding this recently, I decided to down grade this review overall. This is highly unacceptable work.

I purchased a Big Deal for duct cleaning. I've lived in this house for 10 years and for all that time I hadn't had ducts cleaned, or even thought about it. When I saw the Big Deal, it was honestly the first thought I'd given to ducts. Seymour Chimney Cleaning got a lot of business from the Big Deal, they were quite busy, but I wsas able to schedule a day and time that was convenient for me. The business is owned by a father and son. It was the son, Kent Leitch, who came out. He was on time, he was professional, courteous and was careful while doing his work about dust and dirt, insuring that it was confined and captured. He explained everything he was doing, he answered my questions and completed the work more quietly than I had expected. I thought it would be a noisy process, but it was not. The Big Deal had covered basic duct cleaning, but since ducting in this house hasn't been cleaned in years, I added other areas and especially clothes dryer duct cleaning to the job. The additional work cost $137.50 which I feel was very fair and well worth it. I was very satisfied with the work and would highly recommend Seymour Chimney Cleaning. I do have a chimney, but don't burn wood in my fireplace, so I can't speak to their chimney cleaning, but for the duct cleaning, they were excellent.

Kent was great. He was here on time, cleaned our fireplace without leaving any mess behind, and talked us through a few safety tips as well. I will use him again!
