Vent Masters

Purchased Angie's List special for Air Duct Cleaning for $149. When technician arrived, his opening comments included the fact that it would not cover cleaning the return vent ... seemed strange to me. He explained it was in the fine print of the offer. I paid the extra charge to have the return vent cleaned (why would you not?!) but afterwards had this realization. His offer was to clean 'up to 20' air vents; I only had 7 vents, so it seems to me he could have thrown in the return vent in place of the 13 vents he would have had to do in a larger house. As far as I know, he did a good job; it's the kind of thing you can't really measure. And, all in all, the price wasn't bad. It seemed a little like the old "bait and switch" routine to me. Offering a really low price to get your attention, and then adding on for services that would normally be included (at least, in my opinion). That's the reason for the low marks on professionalism.

The provider was courteous and professional, worked quickly and answered any questions I had. He also told me that a higher level of service was available, that included the return duct work.

It was alright. I would probably use them in the future. I'd like to know upfront what they're going to charge extra. They were very nice, punctual and professional. The only problem I have with them is they always try to talk to you into getting more stuff. I really, really don't like that.

Chris & his very nice sidekick spent quite some time at my house taking care of my vents, the return, answering all of my questions, showing me what came out of my vents (yuck--3 large dogs, 2 kids, life...)! Came from a long distance away willing to come and take care of the issue and was real professional. I was appreciatting of his honesty and showed me better options and suggestions for the work rather than just a cleaning service. I really appreciate that he didn't take advantage of me and told me the facts and didn't do a service where he knew it would have needed to be replaced. He walked me through step by step and i really appreciated this time and the effort to make sure I understood everything. I would recommend this company to anybody in the area and know you wouldn't be disappointed with the service.

On Sunday I noticed my dryer vent was clogged. Made an appointment with Vent Masters via Angie's List and Chris got back to me on Monday even though it was the Labor Day holiday. He arrived the very next day after calling to confirm his ETA and tell me he was on the way. He checked out the situation, had all the right tools for the job, cleaned out the lint clog and had me back in good working order in less than an hour. It would have taken much less time, but I had some unusual circumstances, which were all taken in stride and handled with a pleasant and professional attitude. Chris gave me some good information and did an excellent job. Would recommend Vent Masters to anyone needing dryer vent cleanout or inspection.

This was a new home for us so we were not familiar with thedual system.HVAC is different than what we were use to from Chicago. They explained what we had and gave us options on what to clean or not. We added some services and are pleased with results.

Showed up on time, as promised. Completed the job quickly. Was flexible around my conference call at the house that day. Made good recommendations. Our new vent cover isn't flush against the house brick so that would be the only thing I would want to change in the future. I did spray paint it from white to dark brown as he recommended.

Chris was great. He was efficient and opened a vent in the attic to a room that has been warm this whole summer.

Very helpful, arrived on time, worked hard, and seemed to do an excellent job. Our dryer vent hadn't been cleaned in ten years. To be honest when I scheduled this I was a bit skeptical, but came away very please with the value received. Two man crew. Our vents were pretty filthy and I'm glad we had the work done. I would do it again.

Angie's List did not give him my contact information, though I'd purchased an Angie's List deal, given them contact info, and asked for a specific time slot. I waited around a which for him to call, but I ended up having to call and make an appointment myself. Obviously this is a stupid Angie's List issue. When he came, he did not have a ladder, but I had one, which I helped him get down and into place. I wouldn't care about that, but there was still an additional ladder charge, even though he used my ladder. He explained this to me, but I wasn't exactly happy about it. He did a good thorough job cleaning the vent out, and then replaced the lousy vent cover outside (for an additional charge, as expected). He was polite, and explained everything well. I got the feeling he needed a helper for this job, as there were a few things he asked me to help out with. Evidently his previous helper had just taken a new job.

Explained in detail the work to be performed, arrived at the scheduled time. My husband and I were very satisfied with the service.

He quoted things as he went along and explained all the information. Everything seemed to be going well. While he was there, I was busy mowing the lawn. He noticed I was struggling with the mower and came over and started to help. I thought that was very kind however I insisted that I could do it and didn't want him focused on this. After starting some of the work; he asked if he could use the restroom. I was aware I needed the handle repaired but my son was coming home from college and had it set aside for him to fix. Well, when Chris came out of the restroom he said that he repaired the handle but there was some other issues that needed to be repaired and he started working on fixing the toilet. I really wanted him to focus on the job I hired him to do. He took a washer off and cleaned it and when he replaced it the water started overflowing. At that point, I told him I would shut off the valve and would worry about it tomorrow when my son was in town. Finally, he left it alone. Once he got to the work for the air duct cleaning, he started talking about some other system and how dirty it was. Once again focused on that and started cleaning this filter. He started rinsing it with water even after I said numerous times to leave it alone. Well it turns out this part was a permanent filter and not mean't to be cleaned with water. He told me to check to see how much the cost of the filter was and once purchased he would install it for me. The filter was $1000. He refused to pay for the filter. Once the services were completed, he gave me an itemized bill. When he noticed I had my cc in hand, he mentioned there was a 2% credit card fee which was not told to prior to the work starting. Had I known, I would have prepared to pay with a check. Needless to say, I paid the bill and he left. He called me the next day to follow up and advise that he find another filter for $400 for me to purchase. He said he would come back out and put it in for free. He didn't take responsibility at all for the damage he had caused. Even though he takes no responsibility, I find him at fault. I didn't ask him to do any of these additional jobs; I specifically said to leave it alone and at the end it resulted in damage I wasn't anticipating. If he had done the work I hired him for, I would not have had this damage.

Good. Upsold me on a $100 add on service.
