We called Mr. Worley, and it sounded like he was doing something with his family, but he stopped what he was doing and came right out. He checked the wiring thoroughly and was able to fix it quickly. We are grateful to Mr. Worley for being so prompt and so honest--we were afraid we'd have to have an electrician install a whole new smoke detector. We will call on him in the future whenever we need him, and we would recommend him to anyone without hesitation!
Description of Work: One of our smoke detectors began chirping early on a Saturday morning. We put a new battery in, but it still kept chirping. It is hard-wired into the electrical system, so we couldn't just pull it out, and we knew that the longer it went, the worse it would get.

Birds entered the space between the first and second floor via a duct running from a 1st floor bath to the ouside vent; mr. worley replaced the plastic duct that had been removed as part of the disposal of the dead birds. He installed dry wall to repair the area that had been opened up in the ceiling; replaced the bathroom vent and painted the ceiling.
Description of Work: Randy Worley and his son, installed a duct vent that had been removed due to an infestation of birds; he installed dry wall to repair the work site and repainted the ceiling.

I contacted Randy by phone- he was prompt in coming to give an estimate and I was impressed by his knowledge and attention to detail, unlike other contractors, he was the only one to look under the house, and on the other side of walls to make sure that what I was asking him to do was possible. We received a written estimate the next day that we felt was very reasonable. We had them working on our project within a week and a half of notifying them of the go ahead. We are so pleased with Randy and Allen, their work and work ethic, and their integrity. I have a very curious 6 year old boy, who 'supervised' the work, and Randy and Allen were kind, patient and answered questions( the why do you do this? and they could explain to him 'why) . They worked hard, took limited breaks- and worked until they finished what they had planned for the day. They completed the project within the projected timeline, and within budget. I was thankful and impressed that there was no foul language, or unbecoming comments or behaviors that I or my observant kids witnessed. This to me is of great value. Randy and Allen were respectful, and professional. Their work and attention to detail was excellent- best I have experienced in TN. I will be using their services again without reservation!
Description of Work: I contacted Randy and his son Allen to install a utility sink in our laundry room as well as move the washer box and electrical for my washer and dryer to accommodate a stacked unit. Once on the job, they had to remove trim, cut some drywall, move the electrical and plumbing, re-route and add plumbing for the sink. They also installed a sink base, stainless steel drop in sink, laminate countertop, and faucet that I had purchased. They got the room "paint ready" per our agreement-re-installing the drywall, taping and mudding and sanding. They also removed an upper cabinet and moved another upper cabinet up to accommodate for the sink and faucet. This included wrapping the crown moulding around the remaining cabinet. They cleaned the job site at the end of the day. The project lasted 2 days.

We ended up not using his services.
Description of Work: I contacted Randy for an estimate on a condo remodel. We arranged to meet. He came and we talked about the scope of the project. He was very nice and knowledgeable. We did not end up using him because his price was high but he put me in touch with a painter and was very helpful. We would try to use him in the future.

Mr. Worley is the GREATEST. He did repair at our home and I have put his number on speed dial for future use. Mr. Worley did drywall repair, rewiring of light fixture, hanging new fixtures and interior painting while at our home. He also began involved in my furniture refinishing project and added crown moulding to the top of a highboy I was working on. We were completely satisfied with his work. He is a perfectionist, shows up for work when he says he will be there, courteous and on top of all this cleans up after himself. Mr. Worley is very professional. We were so very pleased with all of this work. I would recommend him to family and friends.

We lost the fellow who used to do minor work for us, and so we contacted Worley & Son on the basis of members' excellent reports. Our experience was very much like that of the one F Report. We e-mailed a list of odds and ends that needed attention, all minor stuff, and asked that they would let me know if they were not interested or too busy to undertake it. That was a week ago. No response of any kind, not even an acknowledgment of receipt. That is no way to conduct any type of business. For those who got superior work, great. I am sure that they are very good. As far as we are concerned, we are going with someone else. Such a beginning does not bode well for the future.

Worley and Son is a GREAT team. They showed up when they were expected, they cleaned up at the end of each day and their work was impeccable. They used our stock cabinets from Home Depot as the jumping off point for a project that now looks like a custom job. Their price as very reasonable to start with, and the attention to detail was something you would expect from a craftsman that you might be paying far more. Everything was measured perfectly and finished, down to drilling and finishing holes to pull cables through for electronics. While they were there, we asked them to change a light fixture for us, which they did for a very reasonable charge. When they left, we did not have a single complaint — and we've asked them for estimates for two more projects. (On the cabinet/shelf job, they bought the additional materials they needed, and gave us the receipts for reimbursement — they just charged us for labor, no markups on material.
Description of Work: Randy and his son, Alan, installed stock cabinets, added bases, countertop and built bookcases above them.

My experience with Worley and Son was excellent. They are hard working, honest, and they showed up on time. Every job they did for me was completed better than I anticipated. I guess my only complaint is that they couldn't control the weather. But hey, you can have everything. I will definitely use them again.

Randy and his son came to my home to determine the source of a persistent water leak in my water heater closet. ***A previous plumber that came out was not able to identify the exact cause of the leak. He charged us a $100.00 anyway, and said he'd come back another time to look at it again.*** I had used Randy for other repair serices, and we chose to call him instead. It was apparent to Randy that the leak was not coming from the water heater. It was coming from underneath the baseboard of a wall. Randy studied the situation and decided to go into our crawl space, and he found standing water there. ***The previous plumber had said there was no standing water in the crawl space.*** Randy also took many measurements and made calculations, and was able to determine that the leak occured when the bathroom sink and bathtub faucets were turned on. This lead him to a pipe in the living room wall. He asked if he could knock out drywall to get to the leaking pipe. He made a large hole in the wall to get to the pipe. Several fittings had come loose from a pipe. He replaced the fittings, which completely stopped the leak. He patched up the hole and painted the entire wall. You cannot tell at all that there was once a big hole in the wall. The painting job looks great. He was determined to stay as long as it took to identify the source of the leak, and his persistence paid off. The quality of his work is excellent and his prices are very reasonable. We have used Randy and his son for a variety of repair services. We have always been pleased with their work, and we will certainly use them again.
Description of Work: -Spent time to determine the source of a water leak in our water heater closet. -Located the leak. -Replaced pipe fittings. -Repaired hole in wall. -Painted entire wall. (Please read details below of the excellent job that Randy and his son performed on this job).

I emailed with a detailed list of jobs and finally got a response about 5 days later. They came the following Saturday to look at everything and give me an estimate. I was told that I would have the estimate within 2-3 days. after 5 days I sent a text....no response. sent another text and also called and left a voicemail.....no response to either. called again on the 10th day and was told that he needed to call me right back as his hands were full....no reponse that day or the next. left another voice mail the following day and also sent two more text messages. finally gave up and am searching for someone else. no professionalism what so ever. if they didn't want to do the job, they could have told me that and saved me two weeks of trying to get a response. although i see a lot of great experiences on here (which is exactly why i chose them), my experience was far from great. I would not recommend them and am not happy with the outcome. just beware if you choose to use this company. hopefully this was a one time deal but no matter what, respect the customer enough to send a text, email or call saying they are passing on the job.

This experience was A+ from beginning to end. We had found a handyman through Angie's list, but sadly he had passed away, and we honestly did not feel that anyone could fill the huge shoes this man left. But I read the reviews and my husband called Worley and Son's and he was impressed with him on the phone, and then when he came out to give the estimate, we were still very impressed with his caring to our situation of losing our other handyman and his wanting to do it right. He was prompt at every phase and in arriving. He and his son worked with care in our home, and they did a fantastic job. The vent is working great and now it looks and is professionally installed.
Description of Work: We had had a stove vent installed so the steam and odors would vent to the outside, via a vent on the roof. The handyman that did the work did a very shoddy job, and cut through sheetrock that needed to be repaired, and the vent was getting drops of rain in it when it rained. We knew that some sheetrock repair had to be done, as well as figuring out how to fix the leak, and some roofing repair might be required. We put off the repair for months not having a clue who to get, as we did not want even more shoddy work on top of what was done already. Randy and his son, Allen, assessed what had to be done, and they fixed the sheetrock, did proper sealing and replaced the vent on the roof to a better quality one and did the installation of that properly, which it was not done correctly. In fact, they had to about redo everything.

Earlier this week I contacted Randy Worley about replacing our bathroom fan and we set up an appointment for this morning. Coincidentally the fill valve went out on our toilet this morning. I ran into Randy at Home Depot where he was buying the fan and I was buying the fill valve. He was very nice about doing the unexpected plumbing repair for us as well. I'm so delighted to have a reliable, helpful handyman I can count on!

Randy and his son removed our old water heater which we thought was leaking and causing mold to grow on the nearby drywall. It was a very old water heater and needed replaced anyway. Randy diagnosed that the water leakage was coming from the adjacent shower and not the water heater. That will be another project at a later date. They installed the new water heater. They removed all of the moldy drywall and replaced it with new drywall without any seams showing at all. They painted the trim around the baseboards and doorway. We are very happy with how it turned out and with the workman ship. We will use Randy and his son again.

Randy and his 2 assistants replaced the ceramic tile in our 5 ft. x 5 ft. bathroom. They did it in a day and a half, and they did a very good job. Randy Worley was responsive from the first call I placed. He made an appointment on a Saturday afternoon to come look at the work we needed to have done, which was perfect for our schedule. He was very good at communicating when he would be working, which was challenging for him, since there was a lot of rain this fall. He and his crew were very easy to have around. He even stained the siding under the porch when he had extra stain, because he knew it would look better that way and didn't charge any extra, even though we hadn't thought to ask him to do so. I'm delighted with the work he did and will definitely hire him again to do any future work we need.

Fantastic. Mr. Worley and his assistant worked fast and were very easy to communicate with. His prices are extremely fair.
Description of Work: My washing machine drain pipe backed up because of a recurrent plumbing problem. I usually have to get it snaked once a year or so. Mr. Worley came the same day I called, checked out the system and snaked every logical location, and then ran a couple of loads through to make sure it was working. His cost was less than half of what I paid last year to another company (Sidewinder). While he was on my roof looking at a plumbing vent pipe, he noticed and pointed out a potential place for a leak that I need to fix--he told me how to do it and the cost at Home Depot (instead of offering to do it for a higher price). I really appreciated that. While he was working he was courteous and professional. His assistant even cleaned out my bathtub where sewage had backed up--something he did not have to do.

We contacted Randy on a Saturday and he came over that day to take a look at the job. He scheduled the job for the following Tuesday, and he showed up as planned. He did a good job, was reliable and reasonably priced. We also asked him about painting the columns and fixing an exterior water faucet. He was very honest in telling us that it wouldn't be worth the money for him to do the painting and we would be better off doing it ourselves based on the size of the job. He also referred us to a good plumber who was able to repair the faucet for a reasonable price. We would definitely hire him again.

Randy and his guys did a great job. He came out to give me an estimate a couple of days after I called him. I needed to have balusters put along the stairs that go to the basement and the handrail remounted, have an old attic ladder removed, and the basement door fixed because it wouldn't shut. After looking at it all he gave me the estimate, which was $475, and he said he'd put up some tile pieces that were missing as well (which I had). Afterward I showed him the 2 kitchen drawers, the bottoms were sliding out, and he said he'd do those for no extra charge. Then they came back out about 2 weeks later and worked about half a day for 2 days (due to rain) and had it done. All of them were super nice and courteous. I ended up not having any extra tiles for the ceiling, so they patched it with drywall. I also asked them on the second day if they could unstick a few windows that had been painted shut, so they did that as well, for no extra charge. They were also very careful to not make a huge mess, and completely cleaned up after themselves when they were done. Overall, I am very pleased with everything they did and will definitely give him a call the next time I need any work done.
