National Certified Alarms, Inc. was founded in Nashville, TN in 1997 by James A. Stein, because he believed that consumers were paying too much for their alarm monitoring services. NCA currently offers burglar alarm monitoring services at the very popular and competitive rate of $9.95 a month. NCA installed their first customer in April of 1998. Since then they have added thousands of customers.

Description of Work: Configure,customize and install wireless security system for new home. They are easy to deal with and John in Sales and John who runs the installation end made everything go right. Their system installed price competitive with DIY without the potential of you making a mistake by doing it yourself. The $24.99 monthly monitoring fee using cell phone technology and system controls using his and hers smartphones cannot be beat!

NCA was recommended by several friends and business associates so I gave them a call for a quote. The reps were extremely nice and easy to deal with. They never tried to force anything on me and did not have any sort of high pressure sales pitch like other alarm companies I called. They thought they would be able to use my existing alarm system, but when the installer arrived he had to do more work than anticipated. At this point, I feel like many companies would try to take advantage of the customer and claim they needed the most expensive and extensive system available - not NCA. The installer was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond. He told me what it would cost before he even started the work and in 30 minutes he was done and had installed almost a completely new system. In my opinion, they can't be beat for the price and level of service.

I don't have alarm service but had flood damage to equipment that was already in our house. I called NCA on the recommendation of a friend to have them do the repairs. I was told they only do repairs for "their customers". The person I spoke to (Jim) didn't even ask if I wanted service; he just gave me someone else to call for repairs. This person has never returned my call. All in all, seems a strange way to get new business.

First let NCA apologize to the member for any misunderstanding. The Nashville Floods were devastating for thousands of people, including many of our friends, families and acquaintances. We always appreciate new business but also try to be sensitive to the needs of our callers as many Nashvillians rebuild. There are times, although seldom, that we might recommend a subcontractor that would be able to respond to a customer’s needs more quickly and therefore remedy their security laps. We would not have thought of it as rejecting a customer but, rather as assisting a fellow Nashvillian who had a need. We do as a course of normal business repair and/or replace alarm systems during transition from another company to our services. While this is not always required it does happen on occasion. We also frequently simply reprogram compatible systems to align them with our services. NCA is in the business of installing, repairing and servicing alarm systems that are and/or will be monitored by NCA. If a potential customer is in the market to repair an existing alarm system and not have it be monitored, then NCA would have to respectfully decline. Whatever the members situation, we’d be more than happy to talk with her and resolve this misunderstanding.

They were excellent. There is no contract and you buy the equipment up front. They didn't try to upsell me and the price was right. The technician was so professional and he was just great. They were great people to work with. I was really pleased with them.

After several phone conversations with the sales team, a VP came out to survey the house and finalize a bid. He had good suggestions on how to give the best security, proper security concerns, and an optimal price point. I wanted more than his initial suggestion, and they met the needs great. Installation was as committed, took about 3-4 hours, everything fully tested, system explained in detail. Drew did a great job with the install. Explained all functions completely. Monitoring service is $9.95, with no contract, cancel at anytime, if needed. But why would I? I compared a couple other services, some had lower up front charges, but locked me into a term, which I didn't want. One other vendor wanted $700 more for the same install. Would recommend to others.

I was paying $30+/month for monitoring from another company (let's call it Brand X) and was aware of plenty of competitors who charge a lot less. On top of that, one of the zones in our alarm system had recently started malfunctioning, so we had to bypass it until it was fixed. I knew from 15 years' experience with Brand X that a service call would be expensive, so decided that if I was going to have somebody come out and work on our system we might as well make the switch to another company. The problem with switching is that Brand X's equipment would not work with competitors' monitoring services. NCA told me they could swap out the control panel and keypad but not have to rewire the rest of the house, for $179. Then their monitoring is $9.95/month, and they offered the first 3 months free. The price of the control panel pays for itself in less than a year considering the trade off in the monitoring expense. Then I saw good comments in Angie's List from other customers, and decided to try NCA. I made the installation appointment and told them that we would also need the malfunctioning zone repaired (which I knew would add to the cost, depending on the nature of the problem). The person who helped me on the phone explained the process thoroughly. They called again about a week before the appointment to confirm, and then again a couple of days before. The installer showed up on time. He switched out the control panel and keypad and tested everything. Once the new equipment was in place, our malfunctioning zone was no longer malfunctioning! The installer said that the malfunction was in the old company's control panel (which had been replaced only a couple of years ago), and not in the wiring in the room and doors where the zone was located. He then gave us a thorough overview of all the features of the system and how to use it. (Written documentation was provided as well.) My "A" ratings were based on the quality of the service experience and value for the price. My rating of B for Quality, instead of A, simply reflects that we don't have long-term experience yet with the quality of the equipment and monitoring service, but we have had no problems so far.

I don't know why everyone doesn't have their service! My old alarm company was charging me $45 per month and NCA is only $9.95. There is no difference in service. I also got the first three months free. My old company was going to make me purchase another cell unit because mine was outdated (even though they had installed it for me less than a year before and charged me almost $200). I canceled my service and switched to NCA and then the old company said they'd install it for free. That's bad business to treat your current customers that way. NCA was very personable and I felt like an important client - not just some sale for them. They taught me more about my alarm system than I even knew it could do! The tech spent a lot of time showing me how to use it and making sure it was programmed the way I needed. They are awesome.

After switching to NCA, my old company Creative, decided to strong arm me on the terms of a contract I signed 14 years ago on the day of closing on my house. NCA, at a very reasonable price, has offered to come remove my Creative system and replace it with their own in order to get me out from under Creative's thumb. These guys have been excellent to deal with.
Description of Work: NCA converted my existing system to theirs, and is only charging $9.95 a month to monitor it.

I only pay $9.95 a month for this service and I am very happy with it. They are there twenty four hours a day and I have never had it fail once. The support staff is very attentive to any questions we have had and I really feel safe using this company.
Description of Work: They monitor my alarm system of which we had pre-installed. They have us on a monthly service contract and the coverage extends to my doors and windows throughout my 2500 square foot home.

Installation was easier than expected. The installer was prompt, pleasant, and was even able to convert some of the existing system instead of having to replace the whole thing (saving me money).
