Ed Kuhn took a look at our system, gave us a thorough rundown of options and costs and the benefits of each. We chose to replace the furnace and AC, and Kuhn's team came and did the work in a day. Their work was first rate, and Kuhn was a pleasure to work with. We've been very happy with the system, and the work in our boiler room was clean and organized. We'd had bad luck with Nashville heating and cooling companies in the past, and I'm so glad to have found a great one. We wouldn't call anyone but Kuhn after this experience.

The other needed parts that were not available in Nashville, but he ordered them and installed them when they arrived. He was prompt, courteous, no-nonsense, and communicated well. It really was an ideal service experience. I can recommend Mr. Kuhn without reservation.

+ -1 moreMy heater had stopped working the first time I switched it on. Ed was out the same day I called him and was able to get the unit functioning again. However one week later I switched the heat back on (it has warmed then cooled outside) and had the same issue. I called Ed and he was able to show up that same day, saw it was the same issue as before (a tripped safety sensor) and was able to identify the defective part. I was not charged for the second visit and he even called me a few days later just to make sure everything was still okay. The unit is still functioning today (11/1/12)

+ -1 moreAbsolutely fabulous. Our upstairs heatpump/air had been acting hinky for several days. Would work sometimes. Wouldn't work sometimes. Finally quit working during a heat wave. Reset the circuit breakers once and it worked for a little while so we thought it might be electrical. Called Kuhn on Thursday and he said he could be available at 8:30 the next morning. Arrived on time. Found and fixed the problem (had the part in his truck.) After several days and nights of discomfort. voila, cool air. The unit had worked and cooled better than ever. Not only that, because of the age of the unit (about 35 years old) we thought for sure this would end up being a replacement. Mr. Kuhn replaced the circuit breaker and never once tried to sell us a new unit. Feel very good about the work and Mr. Kuhn's integrity.

+ -1 moreOur 15-year old AC system was no longer holding freon and we knew it was time to go ahead and replace it. After using Angie's List, I found Kuhn Air Conditioning services to be ranked at the top, so I made a call to Ed Kuhn. He promptly came out to do an estimate. Ed was super nice, very clear and concise in explaining how he would replace our system and how he would remove our old system from our tiny attic space. After getting several estimates from other contractors, I was most impressed with Ed's professionalism, honesty, and confidence. His pricing was very much in line, and was not over-inflated. He and his crew showed up early on the day of installation, and they did a stellar job. His crew members were all very friendly, and were happy to talk with me while they worked. My house had been without AC for nearly 2 weeks, so it took a few hours for the temperature to come down to 72 degrees after the installation was done. Ed remained very confident and assured me that the new AC system would cool down to our comfort level, and it certainly did. It is a Rheem system, and its performance has absolutely exceeded our expectations. Ed called a few days after installation as a nice follow-up to make sure everything was working properly too. I would highly recommend Kuhn AC service to anyone needed repair or replacement of their AC/heating system. Ed will make sure that everything is working properly and that you are a happy customer. Thanks to Ed and his nice crew for all their hard work, professionalism and kindness!

+ -1 moreI called Mr Kuhn in the afternoon and told him my air downstairs was blowing room temp. He stated he could be out the next morning and arrived as stated. He checked out the system and found a leak around the hose inside and recharged the coolant in the unit. It had frozen due to coolant being low. Within minutes I had cold air again.
Description of Work: Very professional, arrived on time. Mr Kuhn is honest and knowledgeable and seems to be just an all around nice man. He explained everything he was doing and made me feel comfortable that he could fix the problem and not overcharge me. Prices are very reasonable. I will call him again if I need HVCA assistance and highly recommend this company.

+ -1 moreI called Ed after quickly looking for the highest rated company on Angie's list. It was a Sat morning and I didn't know if I would have to pay extra for a weekend or not. Ed said he could get to it after finishing another job and called me back within an hour to come over. He quickly saw that my filter was completely clogged up due to renovation work being done in the house.He advised me to change out the other filter in the house and start using the cheapest filters available. He explained why it is better to use the cheap filters and replace them every month rather than use the more expensive ones that actually block the air and prevent the AC from performing at peak. He checked the unit and charged a very reasonable fee. I will have Ed return to do my seasonal maintenance and highly recommend him to anyone needing service

Description of Work: A/C unit stopped cooling and lines were frozen. Called Kuhn A/C and they came out within 2 hours and cleaned the unit, cleaned out drain and put freon in it and it works great. Nice men and did the work very reasonably. Will call them for all A/C work in the future.

+ -1 moreOur HVAC unit is over 16 years old and we thought we got our last use out of it this past winter. It was stuck on heat and wouldn't convert to cooling. We had a family friend check it out and he told us that a valve was stuck and it would cost @ $1200 to get it fixed. We went on Angie's List to get a second opinion. Fully expecting to spend @ $3500 to replace our unit completely. My husband called Mr. Kuhn first thing this morning around 7am. Mr. Kuhn answered his own phone and told my husband that he was booked for the morning and would be able to fit us in this afternoon. He arrived earlier than expected. Mr. Kuhn explained that we didn't need a new HVAC. He told us that our unit was fine but that it uses freon that is hard to find and that eventually we will need to get a new unit. But we didn't need to do it right now. Turns out that our problem was a mis-wired thermostat. Mr. Kuhn was here for about 40 minutes re-wiring the thermostat and servicing our unit. The total cost for today was $85.00 with our $20 off coupon. He never tried to sell us a new unit. Our old unit is working fine. It is actually kind of chilly in here right now :-)

+ -1 moreVery pleased! I called Kuhn A/C because I received a recommendation from another provider that my unit would need a repair that would cost several thousand dollars. This led me to debate replacing it and I thought before I did either of these things, it would be good to get a few other opinions. Since I recently purchased the home and have no history for the unit, Mr. Kuhn suggested watching and waiting. Since we had no data for how severe the leaks are, he thought I should at least try to run the unit for a few weeks/months and see how long it would be before it stopped. He suggested having it serviced again in the fall/early winter to check freon levels, if it makes it through the summer. He also recommended keeping the filters changed to improve performance. I'm pleased that I called Kuhn A/C and will definitely call them back for service and/or replacement in the future. I appreciated that he didn't try to sell me on anything immediately, explained how things work so I could understand my heat pump better, and I would trust in the future if he told me it should be replaced he was telling me the truth. Mr. Kuhn also gave me the $20 off Angie's List discount without me even asking because I mentioned I was a member! Many thanks!

It did take him a few days to make it to the house, but he had specifically told me up front. I did have to call him back, but he returned my calls. Once he arrived, he checked a unit in our home that was not cooling properly. It needed fre-on and he added fre-on. Also, he answered any questions we had.

+ -1 moreI knew last summer that my downstairs A/C wasn't working. I thought I would need to replace the 15 year old unit and wanted to get a few estimates. Ed was prompt and courteous. He inspected the unit and found that the freon was very low. He recommended adding freon for a cost of $150 instead of replacing the unit which he estimated would cost more than $4000. While he was there, I had him do the summer inspection for the other two units - they were newer and were fine. I like Ed,; he has years of experience. He could have easily tried to sell me a new unit. I hope the unit lasts a few more years before I have to replace it. I will call on him again.

+ -1 moreOne of our AC units had quit working. Using Angies' List, we selected Kuhn AC Service. I contacted Ed around 8am. He indicated he was busy, but would call back later that morning. Within 2.5 hours he had called and arrived at our house. Within a short space of time, Ed had diagnosed the problem with the compressor. The pressure switch was not letting the unit turn on. The reason being was a very dirty compressor. Ed cleaned the unit and it began operating properly. He ask if he should check the other unit. Not only was it as dirty as the first, but was about a half a pound low on freon. Ed cleaned the unit and added the necessary freon. To Angie's List members he offered a $20 discount. All in all a super service call. From the time of the call to completing the service was about 3 hours. Both AC units are now working perfectly. Ed will have our business again.
Description of Work: Ed cleaned the non-working AC unit after discovering the pressure switch wasn't working. A dirty unit wouldn't allow the pressure switch to operate properly. Also cleaned the second unit we have and added about a half pound of freon, since it was low.

+ -1 moreMy overall impression of Mr. Kuhn is that he is very, very competent, exceptionally personable, and honest as the day is long. It was very obvious to me that he loved his job and took pride in solving problems in the most efficient way possible. I recommend Mr. Kuhn without reservation to anyone who needs work done on their air/heating unit. I know I will continue using his services and feel very fortunate to have found this man.
Description of Work: Prior to calling Mr Kuhn I had another air conditioning company come to my house to diagnose a problem I was having with my air conditioning. After paying $65 to have a technician diagnose the problem I was informed that several things were not functioning properly but could be fixed for $1,580. However, since my unit is 21 years old, he wasn't very optimistic know how long it would continue running...it could break down again the next day. We discussed the pros and cons of getting a whole new air/heating unit and I decided I would pursue buying a new unit. The same company sent out another employee who told me it would cost well over $9,000 to replace the hear and ac units but if I agreed to having them both replaced they would take $1,000 off the price. Before agreeing to have them go ahead with the work I thought it best to get another estimate. My wife went to Anjies list and found Kuhn Air Conditioning had received many favorable reviews so I made an appointment with Mr. Kuhn to take a look at the unit. Within an hour of Mr Kuhn's visit I felt I had won the lottery. Within a few minutes Mr Kuhn had diagnosed two problems with my air conditioner...a defective capacitor which prevented the unit from starting and the further discovery that the coils in the condenser were completely clogged with dirt, grass, etc. which seriously compromised its cooling capacity. Mr Kuhn replaced the damaged capacitor, completely cleaned the unit and corrected a problem with one of the blower fans. The unit now worked as well as it ever has. The charge was $215 including a $20 coupon from Anjies. I'm not exaggerating when I say that, at least for now, Mr Kuhn has saved me over $8,000. A few additional comments: When Mr Kuhn arrived I told him I was pretty sure I needed a whole new heating/ac unit. His response was to let him see what he could find before we started talking about buying a new unit. I liked him already!! He then showed me exactly what he had discovered and and what he did to fix the unit. He never once did anything to try and sell me something I didn't need.
