Very disappointing that I would have to pay for a drawing before getting an estimate for a relatively simple landscaping job. As an update and response to the Provider's Response. A "landscape plan" was a written document to the association, not a $1000 drawing. But, what I really love is the last line - "I was not paid for this time" - he didn't do anything!...why should he be paid. That should tell everyone the mentality and expectation of this company.

They obviously were competent but have grown too big, too fast.

They have been taking care of mowing my lawn for about 3 months now and it's been LOVELY! I come home every two weeks and the "lawn fairy" has come and made my lawn nice and tidy. I got on the schedule with them within two days of speaking with Rice. The clean off all the walkways and my back deck each time they come and the only evidence I ever have of them being there is a beautiful lawn!

This service is recurring and so far so great. His team of yard maintenance staff reliably arrive to mow and trim and apply the organic pest control and organic fertilizer.

After having left a couple of messages detailing the work I would like to have done, I finally was able to reach the owner/operator of the business, whom I soon realized could not be bothered to call me back because I was asking for services they were unable/unwilling to perform for me. I certainly understand comapnies having to turn a profit and keep to their own schedule and work with customers that fit within their parameters or whatever, but this lack of responsiveness (to let me know they would not be a good fit for me) was followed by what I perceived as a surprisingly arrogant attitude about what I was suggesting to have done. It turned me off completely and I would never use them or recommend them to anyone, which is a shame, since I read good things about them and expected to be treated with a lot more respect and professionalism than I experienced.

I called the company and they asked how I got their number. I told them Angies List, and they said they only service the Green Hills, Brentwood, and Franklin areas.

We were remodeling our home and were living elsewhere for 2 1/2 months. While we kept the yard mowed, we did not have the time to keep up trimming bushes, landscaping, etc. A friend recommended Grassy Roots and I called Rice for an estimate. He was able to swing by during a very busy time and gave us a quote for a lot of work: trimming bushes, mulch, edging, organic lawn care, cleaning gutters, etc. Rice said he would "take care" of the landscaping and gave us a quote. His team was able to come by a week later (we were not in that much of a hurry). Six guys showed up and worked virtually nonstop from 9 - 6. When I arrived home, I was simply speechless. The work was perfect! They did everything we asked for - and more! If they saw something that needed work, they just did it. They blew off the driveway, deck and carport, removed dead shrubs, trimmed back our trees, created a proper edge around our flower beds, and on and on..... They have me advice on how best to cut our lawn in the summer hear and showed me how to trim back my ivy and keep it from choking out other plants. I really cannot express how happy I was with the work. When I saw the house, I was simply speechless (something that is VERY rare for me.) The Grassy Roots team was prompt, polite, respectable, friendly and knew exactly what they were doing. I will be calling them back again and again!

Within 24 hrs. of calling them, they had called back and scheduled to come. I asked if they would haul off branches and rubbish from leaves/storms, they said yes and did in a timely manner. I much prefer them to anyone else I have used.

except for seeing that the work was done, all work was done professionally with excellent cleanup--you wouldn't have known they were there. would definitely use them again and would recommend to everyone.

They men did a great job. Everything I requested was completed. I was hoping for a little more detail on things like bush trimming and raking but overall I am very pleased with the work done. I will be using them again in the Spring!

Found Grassy Roots on Angie's list and called. Rice Pierce called me back and he visited and gave me an estimate for the work. I wasn't here when the work was done, but my neighbor told me that his crew worked a long time and diligently. My grass is coming up and looks great. My deck was very clean after they worked on it (had mildew and other issues). I was able to apply a stain after the cedar oil and the deck looks very good. They didn't use a power washer (the last fellow did and my deck mildewed almost immediately plus there was wood "fluff" all over my home). I'm very pleased with their work and they will continue to take care of my lawn for weed and feed, etc. + any overseeding that needs to be done. I would recommend this company to anyone. They are helpful, skilled and timely.

The company finds ways to charge more over time. The routine yard work is done by unsupervised guys who work as quickly as possible and cut some corners. The yard "improvements" and maintenance resulted in a yard that looks far worse than when I maintained it myself.

So far it has been great. They are the only ones we have contacted. We have discussed what we want to do and he is great. He is full of ideas and energy. He is terrific. We are pleased so far. They have been here only once so far. He is getting a price together for us and should have it in a week. He is finishing a major project. He will start on the front next week. We have pulled out everything. We only have grass and a couple of trees. He has given us a couple of prices and they are reasonable. They have been very responsive to our needs. He said they would be here Thursday or Friday and they were here Thursday.

They are a small private local father-son company and they are good. They have been doing my yard work for 4 years. I am not usually here when they come. I have almost an acre and they cut both my front and back lawn. They don't specialize in tree work. They are friendly and flexible. They are small and local. I am in private practice myself so I try to support other people that run their own businesses. Their punctuality is weather dependent.
