I am not really happy with them but they are ok. I would not recommend them. He came out to fix a faucet in our guest bathroom where the water would not drain well. He told me it would not drain well because of a calcium build up. We asked him to fix our toilet but that got worse and then they came back and fixed it. I found the pricing was high. He was here about an hour and 20 minutes and charged me $186 for labor. He was very nice, professional and pleasant. He explained things well.

I've used Ray Baker Plumbing services for 19 years. I live in an older home and am remodeling a bathroom. When the walls were off, there were several plumbing issues that needed to be addressed before the contractor could proceed. The plumber came out the next day to take care of the issues and promptly returned after the job was completed when leaking was found the next couple of days. Their prices have always seemed reasonable to me. The bit of unprofessionalism was one of the plumbers would smoke in my back yard and throw the butts in my flower bed.
Description of Work: They fixed some holes in 80 year old pipe during a bathroom remodel, ran some new copper pipe to the sink and replaced an 80 old tub and shower valve.

The dispatch gave me a three hour window for when the technician would arrive. I asked that they give me a 30-minute 'warning' so that I could go to work and leave my office in time to meet him at my house. The tech did so and he arrived within a 5-minute window of his given estimate. He took survey of all of the different things I needed done and went straight to work while I worked on my laptop in my living room. He had to leave for about 10 minutes to gather some needed parts but returned and finished up the work promptly. The entire process took less than an hour and a half. They were prompt, proficient, and affordable. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Plumber replaced toilet supply line, replaced cracked stem on shower head extension, repaired leaky lavatory faucet. Also ensured that the toilet replacement I performed was in adequate shape.

As (bad) luck would have it, our boiler (radiator heat) went out today (Saturday) on one of the coldest days we've had this entire winter. With teeth chattering, I finally broke down and began calling plumbing and heating companies to find out who would come out to help us on a weekend. Of all the companies I talked with, Ray Baker was by far the most reasonably priced. (One company was going to charge twice what we paid this company... more because it was heat!...simply to come out and work 30 min. and then after that, time and a half.) The technician Ray Baker sent out was prompt, professional, courteous, and most important, I didn't feel like he was trying to rip us off. There will be more work needed in the future, but he was able to get the boiler up and running and patiently showed us how to monitor the boiler to safely finish out this winter. In a few weeks, when it's time to turn on our central air, we will have them do the work on the boiler as well. This company will definitely be our choice for any future heating, air conditioning, or plumbing needs in this 100 yr. old house!
Description of Work: Our boiler, and thus our heat, was suddenly not working today. (34 degrees outside and almost that cold inside!) Ray Baker sent a technician out to see what could be done. He checked out the boiler, cleaned the pilot light so that it could be re-lit, and replaced a thermocouple that was not working properly. He discovered a pressure problem with the boiler, but carefully explained to my husband how to monitor the gage and let some water run off, if necessary. He said that we needed to get the boiler fixed, but that we could make it through the remaining few heating days of this winter with things as they are. For all this (and on a weekend!), he only charged us for one hour's work plus $37.00 for a part. We thought that price was very fair!!! Our plan is to have them return in a few weeks to inspect our central air and have them do the boiler work at that time.

19 year old water heater expired...needed to replace. Decided to use Ray Baker as we've used the company before for some plumbing (good results) and they also have very good reviews on Angie's List. Summary of experience: Pros: - Two day turn-around between initial call/quote/installation (very fast) - Price was reasonable compared with other installation prices that I've heard about - Price included a new plan and pipe insulation - Company was responsive to customer service questions after installation Cons: - We didn't get the opportunity to select the model of water heater (weren't given options) - Installers left some trash behind for us to tidy up after installation - Water heater had small amount of scratches and was dented - Residual water was left in pan (apparently from the new water heater during pressure release process) - caused us concern and required second call-out Overall I was pleased with the speed and price, although I wasn't thrilled with the actual unit that was installed (model/condition) and the post installation clean-up. Would still use Ray Baker again, but would need to be more attentive to any installation.

As a teacher, I'm the one with more time off in our household to supervise home repairs. It's important to me that I feel I'm not being taken for a fool and an easy target. For all the women who look to Angies List: Trust Ray Baker Heating and Plumbing!
Description of Work: In a cut-rate attempt flip our 85 year-old house, the previous owner had jerry-rigged the connection from an upstairs toilet, one that could easily be jarred apart and flood the whole house. Bob patiently explained it all to me ( a woman who should educate herself about these things) as well as pointed out other repairs done on the cheap (e.g. using silicone). There are several issues with the plumbing in that bathroom. I asked him to prioritize them. This toilet connection could have been catastophic! Even turning the toilet water valve off could have caused flooding. Bob never gave the hard-sell and was very professional and polite. I've since called Ray Baker again to address priority #2: a leak which probably necessitates tearing through a plaster wall and tile. I've asked for Bob again but I told the very friendly office manager that I'm sure anyone they send will be equally competent and professional.

The plumbing work went well, and the plumbers (Nathan and Bob) were pleasant, communicative, and knowledgeable, clearly do a good job, and cleaned up after themselves, which was a plus. They came to give an estimate and then came back a week later to do the work. The work was completed and came in under the estimate, and so for that I'm grateful. The only difficulty was communicating with the two plumbers and the main office regarding scheduling. The plumbers would tell me one thing, the administrative assistant at the office would tell me another, and they didn't get to my house to begin work until around 10 or 10:30 both mornings for reasons that were never quite clear, even though the work was scheduled a week out and I had planned my own work schedule around a different schedule that had been communicated to me. I respect their work and am grateful for their professionalism in all other areas, but would have appreciated it if they could have been more organized with the scheduling. The plumbers seemed to be more sympathetic to this than the administrative assistant, who communicated some impatience when I voiced my frustration--this was disappointing to encounter, given that we were all negotiating our professional responsibilities and they must be used to working with people with tight schedules. But in spite of the scheduling, they're good plumbers--as they were finishing up, we noticed another leak that they stayed and fixed--once on the job, they're thorough and careful with their work.

I got these sections mixed up, please excuse this.. The exact work done was a new diverter mechanism was installed in the shower, crossed plumbing lines were corrected and a leak was repaired under the sink, and a shower knob was repaired to supply both hot and cold water .
Description of Work: I am so glad I have Angieslist! The customer feedback for Ray E. Baker plumbing was all I needed to call and have them come by and repair my various plumbing issues. I had previously gotten a quote from another company : Mr. Rooter they are listed on this site with a rating of A. Their estimate was really high. They said they don't have an hourly rate but just quoted me on each project. The main job that I was wanting to have done was, the bath tub facucet was running constantly and the diverter mechanism to turn the shower on wasn't working and thus the tub facuet was always running and this affected the water flow to the shower head. Mr. Rooter quoted 350 dollars for this one repair. I had two other jobs that weren't as bothersome as this one but with that quote it was pricing out too high for my budget. I let the cost get in the way of the repair and I just delt with the problem by getting a low flow shower head. This worked for a while until there was almost no water pressure left. Something had to be done. I got on Angieslist and read a lot of reviews. I wanted to use a local company this time. Ray E. Baker had the highest score with the most number of reviews, around 88. I decided to give them a call and this is when I can say I have a new found trust in a reliable friendly to do business with company! I called Ray E. Baker plumbing around 9:15 and they said someone would be out between 10-2pm but I was called shortly after that and Bob the plumber was at my house at 9:40. I showed him the various issues and told him the most important thing for him to repair was the shower. He said I got a 10% discount for being an Angieslist member and that the first hour was 93 dollars and he would repair as much as he could in that time frame. I think he thought it would be easy, but as I have come to find out my house has a lot of tricks up it's sleeves! It took the whole hour to repair and then Bob repaired my kitchen sink. The kitchen sink had a leak, and also the lines were crossed such as hot was cold and cold was hot!. Bob also repaired my other shower, where it would only work on hot and thus rendered it unsuitable for human use. All of these repairs took about 3.5 hours. The quote from Mr. Rooter for the same work that Ray E. Baker did was over 900 dollars! I am so happy that I called Ray E. Baker, the professionalism, the promptness and the workmanship have proven to me that this is a great company to do business with.

Cost $245 to install a Bosch dishwasher, which was the same brand as my existing dishwasher! The kicker was that even after charging me $245 to install a $700 dishwasher, they didn't even install it correctly. Couldn't get the dishwasher to mount to the granite countertops. I now have to call a separate handyman to install brackets so that the dishwasher will mount properly to the granite countertops. Horrible, overpriced service. Technicians didn't seem to know what they were doing (which is why it took so long to install) and I got to pay for their on the job training.
Description of Work: I replaced a Bosch dishwasher with a newer model Bosch dishwasher. The plumbers were responsible for installing the dishwasher.

This company responded right away and had their plumber out to my condo within an hour of my call. The plumber was responsive and honest enough to tell me he didn't have the right eqp. I consider it excellent customer service when a co. does not charge for a service call when they can't fix the problem. I had just paid out $50 to an appliance repair company, just to have them tell me they couldn't fix the problem, so I appreciated the fact that Ray Baker Plumbing did not charge me for their visit. Would definitely recommend this company and use them again.
Description of Work: Called this company to fix stopped-up washing machine drain. The plumber who came attempted to clear the drain but realized he didn't have a small enough line to run through the old/small copper pipe connection to my washer. He referred me to a "rooter" company for help.

Flawless - no issues since and we now have the use of our hot & cold water from the sink faucet. We had shut off the cold side over 2 years ago b/c it leaked under the kitchen sink. After procrastination for over 2 years, we finally decided to get it fixed. This visit was quick, efficient, and inexpensive.
Description of Work: The plumber came out within 2 hours of being called. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help. He fixed the leak under the kitchen sink and even repaired the aged faucet, something that had been broken for over 2 years. We were thinking we would have to buy another one. He had all parts that he needed in his truck, and his visit was inexpensive and quick. Definitely recommend these guys.
