+ -1 moreGarbage disposal was leaking where it attached to the mouth of the sink. All of the connections were made of plastic. It had jarred itself loose; however the disposal was 14 years old. I had the entire unit replaced that has metal connections and is much quiter that the orginal disposal.

I had replaced a bathroom vanity and when I turned the water back on for the new faucet, water started spraying everywhere from the hot water cut-off valve. I also had a toilet that was very slow after each flush. I called them at 11:30 am, and the guy was here by 12:30. He was here for less than an hour, fixed both problems, told me what was wrong and presented a very reasonable bill. For the second time I have used them, they did another outstanding job and I would recommend them to everyone I know. I am very pleased with this company and their employees.

Description of Work: My service required two visits. The first visit was to fix a leak under the kitchen sink and washing machine. I placed the call on Friday around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Due to the time of my call and the fact that they do not provide service on the weekend, they were unable to schedule a plumber until Monday morning. While there were other plumbers available to come on the weekend, I decided to wait until Monday, especially since I had read such glowing reviews on Ray E. Baker Plumbing. As promised, the plumber (Bob) arrived between 8:00 am and noon. Prior to his arrival, the office called to let me know that he was on his way. After assessing the situation for a few minutes, Bob was able to identify the problem. To my delight, the problems were not what I had feared and could be repaired within the hour. Instead of a leaking drain, the problem was with the sprayer head on top of the sink. The cost to replace the part and clean link from the washing machine drain was $191.00. Bob was courteous, professional and quite resourceful. In fact our second service visit was due to his resourcefulness. My mother had a sink in one of her bathrooms with rusting faucet parts which were beginning to allow water to run down the back of the sink onto the floor on the cabinet. We had been told a year ago by a plumber with Roto Rooter that the sink could not be repaired and we would have to purchase a new vanity because the faucet parts were no longer being made. While that may have been true some years prior, a manufacturer had come out with the parts two years ago. Bob remembered seeing them and followed up by contacting some vendors he thought might either carry the parts or would know where to refer him. To my surprise, he was able to locate the parts and repair the sink, thus preventing my mother from having to put out a large sum of money on a new vanity and a major remodeling project. This repair cost was $505.57.

It was a cumbersome installation, due to the nature of the work. They were very knowledgeable and able to fix a problem with my shower faucet I had been living with for years.

Told the office what the problem was and scheduled an appointment. The technician arrived at the appointed time, replaced a cartridge in the kitchen faucet, and now the faucet works perfectly. Only took about 30 minutes. Ray Baker Co mailed me a "thank you for your business" card. A nice customer service touch.
Description of Work: I'd had a leaky kitchen faucet for several months, so I called Ray Baker Plumbing because of the high rating on Angie's List. The technician arrived at the appointed time, replaced a cartridge in the kitchen faucet, and now the faucet works perfectly. Only took about 30 minutes. The cost of service call and labor ($93) is probably standard, but I would prefer it to be less. They did give me a 10% discount.

water heater repair
+ -1 moreWe called on Labor Day morning. He said he did not have a crew to do the work on a holiday but would call us first thing in the morning the following day. They did indeed call us promptly the next morning. Sent a crew out and while the 2 man crew worked to remove the old water heater a 3rd employee delivered the new water heater and supplies. They explained all the work they were doing. Explained the necessary code required upgrades and noticed and fixed an inappropriate drain pipe slope for overflow discharge. They were personable and professional. The company was very service oriented; calling us when they said they would, having the parts delivered instead of stopping the work here for the crew to leave to get parts, fully explaining the work they were doing and doing a great job of clean up after the work was completed. Great job.
Description of Work: Replacement of a 50 gallon gas water heater and upgrade to meet code requirements of associated pans, fittings, drains, etc.

The service tech was delayed on an earlier appointment and called me three times to give me followups on when he would get to my house - extremely professional. I got a quote on changing out my shower fixtures, and the tech cleaned three drains. I thought the tech would be able to put in the new fixtures that day but he explained that it was a 2 man job and they had to have access to the wall behind the shower so would have to make a hole in the wall. (Our builder apparently neglected to put in access panels.) I was disappointed that they couldn't do it that day, but the tech called the office and lowered the price for the shower installation. Everyone associated with the company was friendly and professional, and the service was excellent.
Description of Work: Estimate for replacement of shower fixtures and clean three slow moving drains.

Description of Work: My hot water heater heater was leaking from the gasket around the drain valve. I called Monday morning and they sent someone right out. He replaced the gasket and the drain valve with a metal one instead of the plastic one that was on there. The entire cost was less than they had told me the service call would be. He also calked a hole in the drain pan.

They came out, gave us a very reasonable estimate, and scheduled a date to come do the work. They showed up when they were supposed to, did some exploratory digging and determined the leak was under the sidewalk. They then tried the other side of the sidewalk, founf the leak, and fixed some really goofy stuff a previous plumber had left. They also replaced two outside faucets for us while they were here. All in all, they charged us less than the original estimate because they dug on both sides of the sidewalk instead of tunneling only from one end, replaced the outside faucets while they already had the water off, and gave us a ten percent first-time customer discount. Great company wih great people. I will definitely use them for all of my future plumbing needs.

+ -1 moreI've been using them for a long time. I used them at my old house, which is over 30 years old. I've also used them at my new house. It didn't take them long to do the faucet. I just had to pay the service call. It cost around $80 for them to just load up their truck and come. They are very punctual and professional. I've used them for any number of things. They even replaced a toilet tank here and they have done work on anything that's needed attention, which isn't a lot on a new house. I will absolutely continue to use them; they are at the top of my list.

+ 0 moreI think service person: Bob is a piece of chocolate cake!! I had my initial list of items that I needed done, but it seemd that while he was there, I kept adding to the list. He knocked them out in no time. I don't think there's any real challenge for this guy...he knows his stuff. Had a very enjoyable experience with Ray Baker Plumbing & Bob compared to the last company I used. Bob explained all that was done and even showed how to get the drain cap off for further cleaning in tub. He's the man!

+ -1 moreMr. Baker personally did our job. He was very nice, professional and made good suggestions that kept the cost down on our overall work. We originally thought we would have to replace an outdoor faucet and have the pipe drilled out of our brickwork. He examined the faucet and said we simply needed to replace a valve on the top of the faucet. The faucet works beautifully now and I have my front hose back! In addition he snaked our inside drains for tubs and showers and replaced an internal piece of one of the commodes. We were thankful that he was an honest vendor and did not unnecessarily perform high dollar work to make the bucks. I will be using him again.
