Alan gave very professional advice from the beginning, working within spending limits to get the best system possible. Got several other quotes as well; felt most confident in doing business with Chickasaw. Alan had experience with the unusual wood furnace I needed to remove, which used the same duct work as the main electric furnace. I appreciated that he came out himself to evaluate my system, rather than sending a salesman without hands-on experience. The crew of Jack, Andy and Chris were great to work with, always prompt, and answered any questions that came up in the process. They had to take the wood furnace out of the loop, and convert the electric service to natural gas, as well as install the new a/c which used a different refrigerant than the former. They put in an additional supply vent. I had my preference of either heat or air up and running before they left overnight, in the midst of the transition, and the air coming from all the vents was balanced. Care was taken to protect my floors inside, and all of the old debris was removed and the area cleaned up before they finished. I was entirely comfortable with everyone I dealt with at this company. I opted to use the existing concrete pad, which gave me a credit on my bill. I later wished I had let them pour a new pad. (My fault) I would highly recommend this company to anyone interested in a first class, code compliant job!
Description of Work: Initial quote was based on need to replace unreliable main furnace and remove existing supplemental wood furnace as well. Second quote included replacing old a/c unit at the same time. Options were fully discussed and all questions answered in a timely manner. Work took 4 days to complete, including both inside and outside work. I opted for a 95% furnace and a 15 SEER a/c which qualifies for the 2009 income tax credit of $1500.

My experience with Chickasaw Air Conditioning was positive from day one. Alan, who gave me the quote, is a techie sort of guy instead of a salesman -- not that he doesn't want to make the sale. He knows the equiptment better than a salesperson would and can talk about the details. He listened to my concerns and made it a point to understand what I wanted my system to do. He answered all of my questions and promptly returned phone calls while we were working out the details of the deal. Everything we finally settled on over the phone was written into the quote at the price he quoted over the phone. He and his team even dreamed up a creative and elegant solution to raising the outside A/C unit to keep it from getting soggy during those big storms we get. Three employees were involved with the installation: two HVAC techs and one electrician. All three were terrific: upbeat, considerate, and very serous about their work and committed to doing a top-notch job. The two and a half days it took to switch the systems out didn't feel like an invasion; it felt like having really nice houseguests who were unusually industrious and who picked up after themselves! What could have been an ordeal ended up being a really enjoyable experience. In Memphis, you have to be careful about the service people you let into your home. With the Chickasaw crew, I didn't have to worry. I had a lot of trouble finding prices for systems on line, so I am going to briefly cover the other quotes I got. They all had very similar warranties and good quality equiptment. An American Standard dealer gave me a quote of $11,000 for a system meeting the same specs, except the furnace had a variable speed fan instead of two stage. They would have had to install the unit horizontally. A Lennox dealer gave me a quote of $7,793 for a system with the same A/C specs and an 80% AFUE gas funace. They would have had to install the unit horizontally. I didn't go with the Lennox quote, which was about the same, because the furnace did not have the higher AFUE rating and because I had subscribed to Angie's list and found that people were really happy with Chickasaw. Everything I read while researching HVAC systems indicated that the company putting in the system could wind up being more imporant than the equiptment, and that weighed heavily on my decision to work with Chickasaw.
Description of Work: House is 1350 square feet. BTUH loss calculation was 59,000, BTUH gain calculation 37,000 (http://www.mrhvac.com/loadcalcshortform.htm). Replaced entire HVAC except for air filter. Removed existing HVAC system. Installed Trane 95% AFUE 80,00 BTU 2 stage gas furnace, 3 ton coil, 3 ton 16 SEER 2 stage R410 A/C unit, flushed A/C lines, adapted and reused existing vent system. Installed Trane touch screen programmable thermostat -- it is really easy to program. All parts and labor. Warranty: 5 year parts and labor. 10 year compressor and coil. 20 year heat exchanger. Permit.

It went overall great. The service person did not have the right igniter so he had to go out and get the correct one. It took about 30 minutes and then about 10 minutes to replace the igniter. I told him how glad I was to finally have the furnace on after it had been so cold last night. Also I told them that I did not get paid until the next Monday (this was Tuesday) and could I please post date the check for that date. They said it would be OK! I filled out the check and the man left. After he had gone, I could not remember if I signed the check. I called and was told that I did not sign the check. I told him to come back and I would sign it. He called me back later and said that they were very busy today and could they shred that check and send me a bill and I could mail them another check then. I said that would be wonderful. I told them I was so happy that the furnace was working, that I just forgot to sign.
Description of Work: They came out and put in a new igniter for the furnace.

Excellent. From the person answering the phone to the service rep who came out, everyone was professional, courteous and pleasant. Annual service contract was explained before the call began, giving me time to consider the option of paying for one call or an annual contract (which was less than half the cost of a single call). Representative was very thorough, checked all aspects of the system. The dogs liked him. I was very satisfied, and went ahead with the service contract.
Description of Work: Basic service call to prep the system for the coming season. Checked all switches and connections, tested system and made necessary adjustments.

I couldn't be more happy. They were great. The representative was friendly and easy to contact with questions and did not try to sell us things we did not need. The installation crew was friendly and efficient. In addition to their great service, their price was easily the best of the four quotes we obtained. Their competitors were charging the same price for the installation of off-brand units (e.g. Goodman units). I highly recommend this company and will use them in the future.
Description of Work: We had them replace the two air conditioners located outside our house (2 ton and 2.5 ton units) with Trane air conditioners. They expanded the pad and installed the units over a one week period.

We called to set up an appointment, they were very responsive even though it was a record setting heat wave. They kept their promise and came out the same day then checked the unit. They then checked to see if the unit was under warranty. The part was found that day, but had to be delivered the next day because the distribution center was closed. They agreed to come out the next day and they did. Took a short time and fixed it without any problems. The service person was very polite and well groomed. This was a great experience. Highly recommend this company.

The work was done awhile ago so if there was a problem I am sure that I would remember. I cannot recall any bad experiences though.
Description of Work: We needed to replace our furnace and our air conditioning unit. The size of our home that is heated and cooled is about 3200 square feet. The old units were both inefficient and very old. The furnace was about 22 years old and the air conditioning unit was about 10 years old. I am not really sure about the size of the units.
