Bensman Home Computer Repair has been in business since March 2001 and I hope to expand and grow even more within the years to come. Description of Work: Helped to set up new monitor and explained to me why I had had a problem doing it myself. Had the correct cable I needed to finish the job and sold it to me at a reasonable price. I am very pleased with the service, as they sent someone very quickly. Will use again if I need some help.

Description of Work: Looked at my old computer and determined it would be less expensive for me to buy a new computer, rather than repairing my old infected unit, So I,with Mr. Bensman accompaning me, bought a new unit, and he saved my old selected files, and during installation, loaded on my new computer. I was well pleased.

Description of Work: He did get my backup started, (which tied up my computer)but he just wasn't very forth coming with information. My 1 hour didn't take more than 30-35 minutes. Since I still had almost 30 minutes left of the hour that I paid for, I asked if I could call him later, if I needed help or couldn't remember how to do something....he didn't like that too much. He just wasn't willing to go into any type of detail on how to do things myself. I am not a computer genius, but I am computer savvy enough to keep my computer clean, organized and have even fixed problems others had with their computers by using a remote program when I couldn't go to their location. But, if you have a problem with your computer and want someone else to fix it and are not interested in learning the process for yourself...I guess he is the guy for you.

Response from Bensman Home Computer Repair
During our initial phone conversation [member name removed] said she wanted me to upgrade her Windows XP computer to Windows Vista. I informed her that this would take longer than an hour to do so she declined to have me do that. She then said she had a problem with her WiFi. It would not reach a certain part of her home. I said I could probably fix that within an hour. I went out to her place and fixed that problem in two minutes. Then [member name removed] wanted me to look at her desktop PC. She was running an old pc with windows xp. I informed her that it should have been replaced because Windows XP is no longer receiving Windows updates and thus her computer is proportionately more vulnerable to attack. She opted not to let me help her purchase and set up a new PC and instead wanted me to show her how to back up her data onto a USB flash drive. I did so. Then, at her request I explained how to do that process three times. [member name removed] wrote down the steps for doing a backup that I outlined. [member name removed] said she thought she understood how to do a backup. Because her PC is so old it would have taken a very long time to transfer her data. She elected to not have me wait to confirm that the transfer was successful. I asked her if she had any further questions. She asked me a few more questions all of which I answered. Then I asked her if she had any more questions and she said she did not. That is where service call ended. I informed her that I would answer any simple questions over the phone, but that I don't walk people through complicated processes over the phone because it takes time away from customers who are paying me to come to their home to fix their computers. I did tell her that if she wanted me to fix her current PC it would take about three hours and I would gladly come back and do that. If she liked I would also help her purchase and set up a new PC. Which would take about the same amount of time. I also informed her that my regular hourly rate is a reasonable seventy dollars an hour. [member name removed] did the math and apparently decided my price was not to her liking as I have not heard from her since. Ultimately, [member name removed] purchased an hour of computer repair time and of the things she wanted me to do I did what could have been done within that hour. It just happened to take two minutes. I find it interesting that this review doesn't state. "Dave came to my house in Eads and diagnosed and fixed my problem in two minutes. All for fifty bucks! I will definitely hire him again!!" I suggest that the next technician that goes to [member name removed] not make their task look to easy.

Mr. Bensman ordered the computer thru Dell and told them exactly what he wanted on it. He was very firm and professional with them. This man knows what he is doing. I would not have known how to order the specifics for the computer without him. He negotiated prices on certain aspects like monitor, speakers and etc. He returned on 09/30/2013 after the computer was delivered to my home by Fed X. He took the sections out of the box and set up the computer. He had an issue with the monitor as it shutdown during setup, but it corrected itself. He called the Dell tech contact and advised him of the situation and had him make notes and got a ticket # in case the monitor malfunctions at a later date. He set up and connected all the connections (wires);set up information as needed, Explained and navigated us thru Windows 8, email, logging off and on, etc. He was extremely courteous and professional.
Description of Work: Ordered a new Dell Desktop computer on 09/24/2013 and returned on 09/30/2013 to set up the computer

Same day service. Mr. Bensman replaced our wireless router and got our computers back up and running just a few hours after I called him. He also called 1 week later to followup and see if everything was working ok. I will definitely call Mr. Bensman for all of our future computer issues.

When my computer got the BIG BLUE SCREEN (that's a bad thing) I called Dave. He was there the same day! He has literally spent hours on my behalf with the Quickbooks support team ! Thanks Dave for that one!! We had some connection issues with our computers and again Dave was Johnny on the spot! He got us up and running! He has all the equipment nhe needs to fix your computer..no I'll need to come back tomorrow for him! In both instances, he took good care of us in a very timely manner and at an affordable price. I will continue to use Bensman Home Computer and will gladly refer any and all I know to him! Good job and thanks Dave!
