Description of Work: This company was polite and professional over the phone which I especially appreciated since I had to call and reschedule my appointment three times! They showed up at the time they said they'd arrive, gave me an estimate and returned to do the work on my refrigerator at the time they specified. The cost was reasonable and the quality of the work was excellent. I'm a single woman and they could have "milked me" for more money since I don't have a clue about what could have been wrong with my frige. As it turned out all that was needed was a new condensor fan and boy was it a booger to get to! I will use this company again in the future if and when the need for their services arise.

 + -1 moreFANTASTIC!! I was disappointed that the earliest appointment I could get was August 5 when I called them on August 2, but I suppose if you have a great reputation, you are in demand. The serviceman called before coming, he arrived within the timeframe promised, he was courteous and quick, he informed me of his progress and actually had the part needed on his van. Total visit was less than 45 mintues! When I saw that he had the oven apart and the floor underneath was yucky, I mentioned that I would need to move the stove and clean underneath. He told me that if I would bring him the vacuum, he would do it for me. How's that for service??
Description of Work: Serviceman replaced the ignitor on my gas stove and repaired three gas burners that were unreliable.

 + -1 moreWe had a washer with a very noisy belt and a dryer that just stopped working with no warning. We called A Plus b/c of the great reviews on Angie's List. Their rate was very good -- $45 (for up to 2 applicances) to come out and access the problem and provide a written estimate with parts and labor. For comparison, we have Maytag appliances and their authorized repair facility wanted $129 per appliance to come and access the problems and fix it (includes labor but parts are extra.) The repairs cost us $150 with tax (including $45 service fee); whereas it would have cost $258+ parts with the Maytag guys. Service was prompt and professional - they showed up almost an hour early, but fortunately someone was home (better than being late.) Repairs were performed at the time of the service call. We were very pleased and will use A Plus again for future needs.
Description of Work: Accessed problem with noisy belt on washer and dryer that just stopped working with no warning. Tightened belt on washer and replaced thermal unit on dryer.

 + -1 moreI felt like I had won the lottery because I called A Plus, they had the part in stock, the technician was out here in an hour, and now I have ice on a HOT afternoon! All the stars were alligned for me today! They were very professional on the phone and checked first to see if they had the part in stock before telling me when someone would be out here. The technician was also very professional, courteous and extremely helpful in asking questions about the overall operation of the ice machine (we purchased a house that had it installed and don't much about them!). I would absolutely call them again for other repairs. Great experience.
Description of Work: We have an under counter ice maker and it started leaking on the floor. My husband removed the grate and we could see exactly where the water was coming from. We called A Plus and they said they had the part in stock and sent a technician out. He checked to make sure that the water was leaking from where we thought and then he replaced the part.

 + -1 moreMy washing machine was not working, it had stopped in the middle of a cycle and since it was a front loader, the door was locked. The technician was prompt and went through a series of diagnostics but couldnt find the issue so he left. I immediately started a load and it once again stopped during the cycle. I called the main number and the technician called me back very quckly afterwards and said he could come back out, which he did. He did some more checking and found out the issue was with the outlet/plug.
Description of Work: Technician ran through diagnostics and couldn't find the problem and then he came back when I still had issues and found issue with plug/outlet.

 + -1 moreThe repairs they wanted to were way more extreme than what needed to be done. They were proposing to replace the mother board when all it needed was the the plastic connecter at the door interface to be replaced. I had to be the one to locate the problem for them and then they fixed it.
Description of Work: I called them to fix my refrigerator. The service call was $50.00.

 + -1 moreExcellently. I couldn't have been happier unless I hadn't needed repairs at all.
Description of Work: I had three problems with three different appliances: My dishwasher was leaking, my dryer wasn't drying on sensor setting, and my garbage disposal sounded extremely unhappy. It was quick to make the appointment, and the repairman was here quickly and promptly. He fixed the disposal first (it was a tiny piece of plastic blocking the chopper) and moved on to the dishwasher, which he first leveled (because it was off its pegs in the back). He then showed me that I was probably using too much rinse aid, which was causing a leak from that dispenser inside. This was instructive because we're new to the Memphis area and unfamiliar with the nature of the water here. He determined that we needed a new valve, which was broken and causing the leak onto the floor, and did replace it underneath the unit. Last, he looked at the dryer and gave me an education about how they work, suggesting that I contact a vent cleaner to see if there is blockage in the wall. He even gave me a name to start with and asserted that there's nothing wrong with the dryer if it's drying on the timed setting. Good to know!

They came and did the diagnostic; then they left and got the part and came straight back to the house and fixed it. They did the work within a couple of hours. They were fabulous. I would absolutely use them again.

 + -1 moreThe technician came back from a previous servcice call to install a replacement part on a dishwasher. Our icemaker was also not working but instead of ordering a new engine for our icemaker, he let it dry out and reinstalled it when he came to install the dishwasher part, thus saving us a couple hundred dollars. It's efforts like this that will keep me calling them back

 + -1 moreWe contacted them by phone; they were available on first try; they scheduled repair call and stuck to time-frame that was agreed upon; stove top initially repaired because it was not working; they also inspected the clothes washer and estimated cost to fix was not feasible; they amde a return trip 1 week later as agred to install a part/fan switch we had ordered for the down-draft fan; entire process smooth with initial trip fee considered very fair, while second trip fee seemed a little expensive, but the entire process was worth the few extra dollars.
Description of Work: Replaced fan switch and re-worked plug for a down-draft stove; inspected very noisy clothes washer; determined washing machine was not worth repairing; they did not try and sell us a replacement.

 + -1 moreThis was an excellent experience as far as repair experiences go. I was able to send an email to the company describing the problem over the weekend. I received a phone call early on Monday morning telling me they would be out between 10 am and 2 pm. The technician called approximately 30 minutes before arriving (in the specified time frame). Work was done in a timely efficient manner. There was a 10% reduction on parts - senior citizen discount. Plus there is a 90 day warranty on the work. I was very impressed.
Description of Work: The counterbalance cord mechanism on my dishwasher door snapped. This allowed the door to fall freely. The technician told me everything he needed to do and showed me as he progressed.

The repairman called within one business day to say he was on his way. Since I was home that day, I was glad to see him a day early. The repairman was very professional and very friendly. The service call fee was fair - much less than I paid Sears 10 years ago.

Description of Work: Recently moved to this home and my refrigerator would not work since the movers hooked it up. The repairman found the problem, had the part on his truck and fixed it. Was also able to advise me that the problem was not caused by the movers. He also was able to solve a problem on the existing refrigerator in this house regarding the door not closing completely.

 + -1 moreI called and set and appointment. Service man called the day of the appointment and said that he would be at my home within 30 minutes (I had been given a 4 hour window). He came when he said. He checked out my non-working dishwasher and said that my "lockout" button was stuck. He reset it, and said that if it did it again I would need a new control board. He suggested that I would probably be better off buying a new dishwasher (no, he wasn't selling new ones) because the cost of a new control panel would be about half the price of a new machine. My dishwasher is over 10 years old and he doubted that the parts would even be available. He was honest and didn't try to perform a service that I didn't need. I would call this company again for other services.

 + -1 moreMy fridge stopped cooling on Sunday morning. I went to work on Monday and searched Angie's list for a repair service. I called them around 11:00. They took my information and put me on hold for a few seconds. The gentleman came back on the phone and told me that Derrick would be there sometime between "now and 4:00pm". He told me that Derrick would call me when he was on his way. I was in total disbelief that someone would be out the same day, let alone in possibly an hour or so. About 25 minutes after I hung up the phone, Derrick called and was on his way. He was there about 30 minutes and diagnosed the problem. He checked the warehouse for availability of the part and said he would be back the next day to make the repair. He called Tuesday morning and made the repair in no time flat. The bill was exactly what he said it would be. I am very excited about the service I recieved from this company and their technician.
Description of Work: The defrost board went bad in my refridgerator. Derrick replaced it and it works like a charm today.

 + -1 moreI was called and told about when he could come. He got here on the early side of the time given me. He came in and went right to work. He seemed to know exactly what to do and how to do it. He told me what he was doing as he worked. He seemed to be a nice friendly man who knew his job very well. I was very pleased with the job he did.
Description of Work: One small part had gone bad on the back side of the refrigerator. When he arrived he looked in the freezer, then he looked in the refrigerator. He seemed to know right away what the problem was. He pulled it out from the wall, got behind it and checked the part that he thought was bad. It was bad and he had a new one on his truck. He installed the part and the refrigerator was running just fine again. He put it back in place and the job was finished.

 + -1 moreThe service person diagnosed the problem and began to repair the problem after giving me the estimate. I would prefer that the service call would be waived would be my only complaint.
Description of Work: The freezer heater element was broke and caused the freezer to ice up and it also disabled the refrigerator section as well on a side by side frig. The service person was courtesy and fixed everyting including thawing out a portion of the freezer that frozen over as a result of the broken heater element.
