The completed work was very high quality and passed the subsequent TVA inspection. For what they did, I think $1800 was a great deal.

We were called by Rocky Top and told that they had come out a couple of years prior and that they saw that they had not been back since. They were running a $69.95 special for a service and tune-up. We told them to come on out. That was right before Thanksgiving. One of their technicians became ill and could not come out. The next week was Thanksgiving, so I said to come out the week after. Originally, they did not have us down on the schedule for the week after, but got that corrected. Phil, their service tech, was out today. He was very helpful, very proficient, knew what he was doing and made some suggestions. The price was a little higher than I had anticipated, but, for that price we get two more service calls, tune-ups and 15% off any repairs. Not a bad deal. All in all, Phil and Rocky Top will get our business again. Nice job.

This is a family run business. The first time we visited the story, we met with the daughter. She was wonderful. She is the one who does the ordering, so she was very thorough in writing down the details of the furniture (finish, wood, hardware). The second time we ordered furniture, we met with the mother. She was not quite as meticulous. Although she was very responsive and helpful. We wanted to "special order" our night stands with a slight modification. Since it was a Sunday, she wasn't sure about any extra cost. However, she called us an hour after we got home and said that she had looked into and there would be no additional cost. Our first order of furniture actually came in about a week early. The delivery guys were very nice and very careful with our expensive, heavy wood furniture. We had such a good experience, that we ordered the rest of the furniture a few weeks later. Now we're waiting on a second delivery. This one didn't come in early :( but it's still within the time frame.
Description of Work: We ordered bedroom furniture from the Simply Amish brand. They took care of the order and the delivery of the furniture.

Our unit had ice on it and the technician was unable to get a reading on it. The technician turned it off and came back the next day and serviced it. He diagnosed the issue and gave us options to get it resolved. The technician was polite and knowledgeable. Very pleased with the service provided.

Overall, Rocky Top Air is a customer focused HVAC company. There was a minor miscommunication on the installation, but everyone in the organization was driven to be responsive to my concern. They proposed a HVAC system to meet our needs, and not the more expensive options. They explained the advantages and disadvantages, and were ready to answer all questions. They arrived when they were scheduled, and finished in one day even though they worked a little past dark. They came back to inspect the work after completed.

When I called them to schedule an appointment and I told them about how we had a heating and AC system for each floor of our two story home (which is very common in our area), they told me that they would have to charge extra two look at both systems.

I'm sorry you did not understand the terms of the Precision Tune-up, Safety Inspection and Professional Cleaning that we offer to customers. The Big Deal program for this preventative maintenance inspection does only cover one unit. Some homes have a single unit and others have several units. My recommended solution would be to purchase another Big Deal offer in order to have a tune-up done on both units. This situation would be similar to having purchased an oil change for your automobile. More than likely it would not cover all the automobiles that you own, but just one. Again, I'm sorry you did not understand that this covered one system. I hope my explanation has helped you understand and I hope we can do business with you in the future. I first tried emailing through Angie's list, and got no response. This annoyed me, but by the end of the experience I was so happy that it did not matter. I called them after a few days saying that I had emailed them from Angie's list and got no response, and that I wanted HVAC tuneup for myself and my neighbor. I asked if I could get an the Angie's list price for both of us, and an additional discount since it was one trip. I was told no, but that they could give us both the Angie's list discount. I said okay. The service technician who came was very nice, professional, friendly -- great guy. Seemed very honest too. He did the work without cutting corners. My neighbor is an old man with bad knees. The service technician actually went above his duty and did more servicing than what is in a regular tuneup, and worked to scrape things off by hand internally for the old man - he did the right thing. I only found this out hours later. The service technician did enough that Rocky Top Air deserved even more pay in my opinion. But Rocky Top Air will have the pleasure of our business for maintenance in the future due to this very nice treatment and good price.

Employee arrived timely. Very nice and professional. Even washed my filter which I am sure was extremely dirty. I have a long hair dog and also was taking care of my sister's German Shepard. Both are inside dogs. He even straighted up the hose after he cleaned the filter. Dogs have chewed up the hose and it leaks and he probably got wet. Never complained and very polite the entire time. Will use this company when it is time to replace my unit.
Description of Work: I have a maintence plan with Rocky Top Air. I had a cooling maintance check up. They come out 3 times a year with the plan. That is why the amount spend is zero.

Our upstairs AC stopped pushing cold air the morning of 7/27/12 (Friday). We called Rocky Top Air around noon to see if they could send someone out to take a look at the unit. The person on the phone was professional and took all the needed information and informed us that someone will be coming out the same afternoon. Around 2 a technician arrived at our house. He was very professional and friendly. He established the problem of the old run capacitor immediately and began working on replacing it. While working he explained why we had the problem and what he was doing. We found him very informative. Soon after the AC unit was functioning again. We are very happy with the technician and how fast he was able to be at our house. We will definitely use Rocky Top Air again.
Description of Work: Our outside AC unit had stopped working. The technician established the problem and exchanged the run capacitor to a new one. Unit started working immediately.

I went on Angie's list and got a $20 discount on a check-up from Rocky Top Air. The serviceman, Jeff, was helpful, polite, and explained the problem to me. Rocky Top checked to see that the part was still under warranty, ordered and replaced it. So I paid only for labor. It was a lot of money, but the experience was painless, thanks to Lloyd and Jeff. I will definitely use Rocky Top Air from now for service calls and maintenance.

Letter to Rockytop Rockytop Rheem Heat Pump Defrost Control Board retail, which you do not pay are from $47 to $90. The heat pump is under maintenance with another company and washing off the coils did not fix anything, you said you would adjust the bill and did not. Diagnosis was not sufficient until the second technician came. You have an in-house problem and it is not mine.
Description of Work: I decided to try Rockytop due to a recommendation. They came out to diagnose a problem, washed off the coils and left. The unit is under a maintenance contract and had recently been serviced. Later I called back, nothing was fixed, the mgr. sent another technician out and diagnosed again and said I needed a $180+ repair, after talking to the mgr. he said he would adjust the second bill. In the end he did not and lied about the cost of the part saying he would not charge me for another service call and charge me only for the part. After checking on the cost of the part I found that retail cost is between $47 and $90 and they do not pay retail for their parts. This wasted my time and the mgr. was rude and untruthful.

Member, My name is Gerald Allison and I am the President of Rocky Top Air. I was very disturbed by your report and am very sorry that you feel this way about Rocky Top Air. I have investigated the situation and would like to explain what I found out. It is my highest priority to exceed our customers expectations and to provide a super service experience. On May 4, when my technician first came out, the unit appeared to have been frozen which can be caused by a number of different problems. One of those issues can be dirty coils which restrict the airflow moving across the coils which can cause a variety of different problems. Unfortunately, there are times when a problem is intermittent and everything can work well at one point, then not work later. I have experienced this with my car because it will never exhibit the problem while I am at the garage standing in front of the mechanic. At the time of the first visit, all pressures, charges, current draws, and air flow temps were correct and the unit was performing to factory specifications. As the board exhibited more problems, we sent a tech on the 7th who was able to find the problem while it was going on and recommended the board replacement. We did not discount the dispatch fee for the second call because a stop payment order had been issued on the first $75.00 check for the first visit. The breakdown of the $186.16 cost is as follows: $75.00 dispatch fee $37.50 for 1/2 hr flat rate labor for the repair $73.66 for the control board which includes our standard parts mark-up I hope you can understand that due to the stop order for the $75.00 check, one of the dispatch fees was discounted. Our retail price for the board falls into the range of pricing you found. Our cost for the board is $48.16 plus tax. Typically our pricing is very competitive to our industry. I hope this explaination helps you better understand the situation. I encourage you to call me personally to discuss this further if you would like. We had previously had a previous repair on our exterior fan on heat pump and were very pleased with this company. We called them again because our unit was not maintaining an even temperature , the technician found the thermostat was improperly wired and installed a new one which works very well. We were very impressed with the respect the technicians had for their employers , loyalty such as this seems uncommon nowadays. They were very respectful to us also and did not hesitate to fix the problem. We now have a maintenance contract with this company because we trust them and believe them to be completely honest.
Description of Work: Installed a new thermostat to replace one which had been installed improperly by another company. ( Also on 4/26/11 repaired an outdoor fan on heat pump.)

Great, worked with me on taking advantage of all the rebates and TVA incentives. They completed the install in 1 day, but due to a issue getting the gas company hookup turned on, they had to send a tech out on Friday evening to turn the gas backup on. They even had a tech come out and walk the TVA representative through the modifications as part of the inspection. This ensured that I received the full rebate from TVA (worth $550) in addition to the Federal Tax Credit. They met all their commitments, and did such a good even the TVA representative commented on the excellent attention to detail and quality of work. They had to redo the old air return (which was located in a closet) which involved cutting through a wall. The work was neatly done and the install works great. The new system is great, and we are so much more comfortable in our home now.
Description of Work: They installed a new Dual Fuel Trane 3 Ton unit (Heat-Pump with Gas heat backup, upgraded the duct work, and sealed existing duct work.

I called the company and a person answered and said no one was available at the time of my call but he would call me within 1 hour to tell me when someone would be available. He did call back on time and told me someone would come to my home within a half hour. The person arrived on time. My husband went out with him. My unit is one of those outside units. He tech bypassed the suspected part and the unit came on. He then called the office to tell them he was coming to get the part. The whole thing took about 3 hours from initial arrival at our home and the replacement of the part. He tested the unit after repair to be sure it was in working condition. We have not had any more trouble.
Description of Work: My home heating unit would not work when we changed from air conditioning to heating. The service person diagnosed the problem and went to get the unit replacement part. Some type of control board. He was friendly and knowledgeable. Willing to answer questions and did not seemed aggravated to answer questions. He showed my husband how it worked and then left the burned out part with us saying some other parts of the board was usable for spare parts.

From start to finish, and it was a big job, Rocky Top Air was on the ball. We had already had 3 estimates when Rocky Top's excellent saleswoman came out, and had 3 more scheduled after them. Their saleswoman was the first to suggest changing the location of our ductwork from a small crawlspace to the empty attic space. The crawlspace was poorly protected from critters, and the damage they had caused to the flexible ductwork would have repeated itself in a couple of years. After hearing my concerns with new ducting, she immediately started thinking outside the box and coming up with solutions. She was also the first one to bring up potential energy saving financing programs, heat and a/c efficiency options, and duct types, other than the ones we were familiar with! The saleswoman explained the contract VERY thoroughly and any time I had a question she answered or returned a call within an hour. Their estimate was within range of 2 others, but their salespeople and customer service made the difference. The crew got started within about 7-10 days from agreeing to their contract. They were really nice, worked very quickly, in the rain and cold, and cleaned and fixed all kinds of things that needed to be done for this small yet massive undertaking (the house is 100 years old). The installers moved out and the tech guys moved in and explained all the new features of our more efficient system with all the bells and whistles. The service man came out about a week or so later to check the air flow and adjusted it appropriately, so that we are at more constant temperatures in each room. They were all clean and polite. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends who ask. They also have been out for a seasonal maintenance (on agreement) and maintained their professionalism. Thankfully!
Description of Work: Rocky Top Air replaced our old, tired, gas heat and central a/c unit and relocated and replaced entire ductwork system in ~1500 sq. ft. home. Our heating bills went from $600+ to $250 immediately, and our a/c bills went from $300 to $200. The best part is that we are now hot and/or cold, depending on what our little hearts desire!

All work was completed as contracted. They were neat and cleaned up after themselves. It was very warm and the work was dirty but they didn't take many breaks and finished in the time frame they indicated.
Description of Work: Initially we contacted them to install an humidifier for our home, and programmable thermostats. First they sent a sales represented to go over the details of the installation and costs. They arrived on time, kept us appraised of where they were in the process, then cleaned both of our furnaces, and replaced all the filters. We were pleased with all the work and now have an annual contract with them to clean and check all of heating and air systems. They come 3 times a year, and if we have a problem, because of the contract, they come immediately.

Michelle was very professional and very knowledgeable. She showed up when she said she would. She dilligently checked out our existing system, pointed out a couple of problems, and provided a written estimate on the spot. The decision not to go with Michelle of Rocky Top Air was based solely on location since the contractor that installed the new AC is located a lot closer to us and practically drives by our subdivision every day.
Description of Work: Recently checked out over 1 dozen AC installation companies in the Lenoir City / Friendsville / Maryville / Knoxville area. Michelle of Rocky Top Air came out and made a very professional impression. She went through the entire system, pointed out some problems we hadn't known about for 19 yrs, and performed a free load analysis and calculation. She provided me an estimate that was one of the lowest and I placed Rocky Top Air on my short short-list. After talking with several other contractors, I put together a specification sheet and submitted that to all the contractors on my short-list for a rework of the estimate. Michelle was the quickest to respond and called me to discuss a couple of items on the specification sheet. I didn't go with Rocky Top Air solely because I found another contractor that was closer to our location (within 7 minutes, instead of the 3/4 hr drive from Knoxville to Lenoir City). But if I was located closer, I would have seriously considered them.

This is a very professional company. They sent a knowledgeable person over to estimate our needs and provide alternatives for us to choose from. Once we selected a couple units, they came out and installed them. The whole time they were conscientous about wearing covers over their shoes when they came in the house, etc. The unit has been installed for almost a year now and works perfectly. Their periodic maintenance guy comes out and tunes the equipment, replaces filters, etc. We have been totally happy with this company.

They are good. Their service person, Chris, is super. I have an annual contract with them. I have had contracts with them since 2006. They service twice a year, but if there is any problem in between they would come out. They service during summer and winter and any other time we need them. They used to be known by the name, MK Mechanical, but they split. Rocky Top Air is excellent.
Description of Work: I use Rocky Top Air for heating and air-conditioning service. They sold me my system for which I have a two-year warranty.

From the first time to the last visit, the techs are very professional when they are at your home. They wear shoe covers when they enter, and if you are a little late meeting them, they will begin work outside while they are waiting. They spend as much time answering questions and giving you tips that will save you money.
Description of Work: We have had a maintenance contract with Rocky Top Air for several years and we are extremely satisfied with their service. Their techs are polite, knowledgeable and very professional. They will visit as many times as needed to get the issue fixed and we would recommend them highly!
