I wanted to maintain the classic exterior of my small 1939 Tudor style with it's original woodwork details and McClain painting was able to do just that.They fixed the individual slats of the attic vents, matched the color on the Tudor stucco details, repaired eaves, scrapped, filled holes , primed and painted and cleaned up leaving no mess. I live in an older neighborhood with little room between houses and both neighbors complemented McClain's on leaving the are clean without trash on their yards. The stated the crew was very professional and friendly.

. I was very pleased with the quality, professionalism, and responsiveness of McLain's. Originally, we received quotes from multiple contractors. The job priced out comparably between all the quotes. Ultimately, I selected Charles McLain because of his attention to detail and professional manner. His overall appearance and demeanor helped me feel comfortable having his workers in my home. He and his workers during the job were punctual and very polite and pleasant. Before the start date, Charles called to let me know they were held up on another job and would have to delay starting my job, but offered to accommodate me. We chose to have a bathroom painted, that was not part of the original scope. McLains did an excellent job throughout my home and I couldn't be happier. The rooms look great and when I came home everything was returned to it's original state. There was no mess or disruption. I will definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone looking for painting work.

McLain?s Painting Service is an extraordinary company that we recommend without any hesitation. Charles McLain arrived at our home on time & neatly dressed to give an estimate to paint most of the interior of our home. He was personable & professional. He knew about the importance of Angie?s List to companies & he worked with us on price, paint selection, etc. Although McLain?s was the highest of 3 bids we received, we were confident in giving McLain?s our business. Charles stayed in touch withus?by phone & e-mail--over the ensuing weeks, especially when bad winter weather closed nearby schools, offices, etc. Just as planned, the job foreman, Scott, called to schedule a walk-through at our home. He arrived on time & was very thorough in his inspection. Shortly thereafter, the work began. Our crew of excellent professional painters worked very well together, & also were quite personable. Our job took 5 very full days (with the crew arriving promptly before 8AM). The crew moved all our furniture, covered it with plastic, & taped all our wood floors with paper. When the job was done they put everything back in place & cleaned spotlessly. The prep work was excellent: cracks, nail holes, blisters, drywall fatigue spots, etc. were all repaired perfectly. There were some surprises in our 32-year-old drywall, but the crew took them in stride & all were fixed. The crew painted all ceilings & walls twice, & cleaned/vacuumed at the end of each work day. There are no drips, sags, or misses & our home looks brand-new. We knew our house needed painting, but we were dreading the prospect; we were wrong. Charles McLain & his coworkers put us at ease & did their work with diligence, artistry, & professionalism. We cannot think of a single way that McLain?s Painting Service could improve their work ethic or the final product of their efforts.

McLain's was fantastic! The owner, Charles, came out and gave me a detailed estimate for our painting job. We'd talked to several painters for the project, which was painting a master bedroom with an extremely high, angled ceiling with paint that we would be providing. McLain's listened to what we wanted, gave us a detailed estimate and worked us into their schedule within two weeks of our estimate. On the day of painting, the workers arrived promptly, set up quickly and were extremely efficient in their task. They prepared the walls before beginning painting, fixing imperfections that I hadn't even seen. The job foreman was communicative and friendly. The crew finished work sooner than I'd expected, and the quality of the work was outstanding. When they left, the room was clean and free of any wayward paint drips. The service comes with a free touch-up, which we will be utilizing in the near future. All in all, I'd highly recommend McLain's. I'm thrilled with how the room turned out and with the exceptional customer service we've received.

During one full day, two painters repainted my kitchen walls and a stairway and hallway, with work that included climbing on a bookcase to get at a wall. The hallway took three coats to cover some sample colors I had painted, but they did it in the time allowed. I am very satisfied with the quality of their painting services.

The whole process with Charles went great. WE got a great estimate and they were very professional from the start. The job was scheduled and finished promptly and on time. Scott and his crew were wonderful and professional and did a great job. I would highly recommend this company for all your painting needs.

We were very impressed with the professionalism of the crew that Charlest sent out. They did an excellent job and Charles showed up to check on the progress and making sure the job went well. A great experience all around.

From start to finish the work was done in a very systematic manner & communication flow was positive. Foreman was on-site 2-4 times daily ensuring the work was progressing on schedule & done according to contract. Pressure washing was very thorough & if needed, time was spent on areas that did not initially respond to cleaning. Appropriate measures were taken to ensure outside structures, plants, landscaping, etc. were protected. Work began daily at 8:00 & ended at 4:00/4:30 consistently thru-out the duration of the project. Upon completion, there were NO drips, drops, or signs of ANY stain on any surface other than the intended exterior. McLain's did an excellent job from start to finisih. Although, we did not have any issues, if this had occurred, they woudl have been noted and addressed in a final "walk around" the company schedules to ensure customer satisfaction. McLain's did an outstanding job - at first we thought it was a bit pricey, but in this case, you DO get what you pay for!

Very thorough and complete job. Mr. McClain is very professional as is his crew. Recommended best stain to use. Started job on time. It took 8 workdays to complete job, including powerwash, caulking and staining.

Barbara from McClain's Painting arrived at our home prior to the appointed time, ready to work. We reviewed the 2 rooms and the front entrance door to be painted with Barbara and she went right to work. The speed, quality, coverage and accuracy (painting around the ceilings, walls and base boards) of her work is A-1 Professional. Each area was given 2 coats of paint and Barbara finished the areas we had discussed.

It went well once it stopped raining. It looks so good, we now are refinishing our deck.

It turned out just fine. I bought the paint. The paint wasn't included, that was made clear in the add. It was a really good deal and the worker was really nice. He painted for about eight hours. It was great.

He was very professional and friendly. I ended up going with someone else due to his pricing.

We had a good experience with the company. Charles McLain came to the house and did the estimate on the job. He asked me about the intercom speaker--if I wanted it removed. That was something I didn't expect them to tackle but I was very glad to have the ugly plastic speaker taken out of the wall. His workman patched the wallboard and the wall itself looks significantly better. One of my concerns was the wood trim in the room--a lot of it. It had become dull and nicked over the years. The workman cleaned and touched up the marred surfaces and then polyurethaned all the wood. It brightened the whole room up, The work was completed in a professional manner and the area was cleaned up carefully. Charles came on site and reviewed the progress; he is very thorough. When my husband registered some concern on the paint coverage over the patched wall, he instructed his foreman to repaint the entire wall so the paint tone and sheen was consistent. Another good experience. I will definitely use McLain's services in the future.

Overall, I am very happy with the work performed by McLain's Painting. Mr. McLain provided a professional assessment of the scope of work along with a fair (although not the least expensive) estimate for the described work. The contract was very clear and presented in a timely manner after the walk-through at our home. Work started within the week originally agreed, although it did take longer to complete than originally understood. Upon completion, the crew leader completed a follow-up review and punch-list items were addressed in a very professional manner. McLain's Painting is very focused on customer satisfaction and I would recommend them for future use.

They were excellent. The painter that McLain's sent over was very careful and hardworking and did everything we needed to do and it looked great. He was here earlier than we wanted him, but he said he was coming.

We purchased a deal (8 hours of painting for $199?). Charles came out to look at the job (stairway/hallway) and was quick and efficient. He set up the date and time for us. My mother was in town during the painting and let Zack (the painter) in. She said he was very pleasant and on task for the duration of the job. It was a difficult job for us to do (high ceilings, stairs, etc) - Zack was only able to get 1 coat on in the time allotted but he did a very even coat and we will not need to do a second coat. He asked both my mother and me to look over for any touch up areas - my mum with eagle eyes pointed out a few, but it was good by the time I laid my eyes on it. While Zack was here he collected information for another job at my house and I am in the process of finalizing the estimate for staining windows.

I purchased the Angie's List Big Deal. A short time later McClain's painting contacted me by email encouraging me to call and schedule the service (I had been busy & forgot). When I called McClain's painting, I spoke to a helpful representative who asked what I would like to have done, when I would like to have it completed and if I had a deadline. This was not and urgent need so I told them sometime in the next month or so would be nice. The representative scheduled a time for Charles (Mr. McClain) to come to my home for an estimate. This happened a few days later and worked in perfectly with my busy schedule. He arrived on time and politely inspected the bathroom and made notes on what was to be done. He patiently answered my many questions and addressed my many concerns about mildew and water damage prevention in such a small bathroom. He recommended paint finishes and gave me an idea of long it would take to paint the whole area. The estimate on time he gave me was 5 hours to complete the entire bathroom (walls, ceiling, pocket door, trim, bathroom entry door). He also said that there would be time to paint another area (since we have pre-paid for 7 hours). He said painting the other interior doors in the hallway should be able to be completed in the remaining 7 hours. I told him I wanted to bathroom completed first priority, and then the interior doors second priority, and then the surrounding trim if there is time. This estimate/inspection took maybe 15 min. We scheduled the work to be done on Monday April 1, 2013. The painter would be here from 8am-4:30pm. This time included his breaks leaving us 7 hours of labor. We also discussed paint. He gave me the option of me buying the paint myself or their painter bringing the paint with him the day of service, then I reimburse the painter. The second option would save me time so I elected this. He told me I would receive a phone call from the painter on the Thursday or Friday before the service to find out which color I had selected from our local Pittsburg Paint Center. I received a phone call the week before our service from Mr.McClain. He was confirming that everything was still good to go. He also was confirming that I was buying the paint myself........No...We had settled on the painter bringing the paint and I was supposed to pick out the colors and relay that information to the painter later in the week. I told him to forget about the painter picking up the paint. To prevent any further confusion or wrong color scenarios, I would buy it myself. This miscommunication or confusion did concern me. Until this point everything was clear and easy. On the Friday before our service the painter called to introduce himself and gather any last minute information and house information. He arrived a few minutes late due to traffic. He introduced himself then took off his shoes before entering my home! I liked him immediately!!! That means a lot to me. Zack (I think his name was Zack) came in and i showed him the bathroom and what we wanted done. I explained again that the bathroom was first priority then, if time allowed, the interior doors. He laid his tools out on a blanket to prevent any mess, then got to work. He was super quiet. We hardly knew he was here. I did go by occasionally just to see the progress out of excitement! Our painter was friendly and the attention to detail made me so very happy. When clean up time came around, our painter told me the trim and bathroom entry door required more layers (and time) than expected. He said the paint I bought was not covering well. There was no time to paint any of the interior hallway doors. : ( The bathroom had taken all 7 hours to paint and then it was time to clean his brushes and tools. I was sad none of the other doors had gotten painted. I'm certainly not blaming him, he did a great job, but I am annoyed that it took longer all because of the paint. I purchased the white paint at our local home improvement warehouse upon the employee's advice. I wanted a durable trim paint and I paid nicely for it. I also purchased a whole gallon upon Mr.McClain's advice. We still have close to a gallon of white paint....It wasn't cheap. A side note, the local Pittsburg Paint Center that the painter would have been stopping by to pick up the paint had closed the week before our scheduled service! The bathroom looks fantastic. Our painter did a fantastic job. The detail and clean edges were worth every penny!! The quality work he did makes the whole 7 hours on the bathroom worth while. We are very happy with the results. I would recommend them to a friend or neighbor. If we need a painter again, I will give them a call. But this time I WILL have them bring the paint they like.

We recently installed new hardwood flooring, Appalachian Maple. The original installation of a new stairway ended with less than satisfactory results. The treads had been stained a shade far too orange and did not match the new hardwood flooring. We turned to Charles McLain for help, and Charles worked with a flooring installer, Gary Brown, to replace the stairway down to the underlying framing. Thanks to Charles, we now have a perfect match with the stairway treads and the new hardwood flooring. Even the stain on the stairway posts and railing matches the floors. Charles' work matched and exceeded our expectations and more. We intend to employ his services in the future.

Excellent. This is the second time we have used McLain's Painting and there services and pricing are excellent. Painters were on time, started work immediately and finished in the time frame we were given. We can't say enough about McClain's great painting, fair pricing, professionalism and work ethic. We would not use any other painting contractor....ever!

The painter was very professional, prompt, and did a great job. He also gave me some tips on painting.

The quote was very good. They told me exactly how much paint I would need and everything they would be doing. I have been very happy with them so far.
