Old home / painting...it took three attempts to get the work done properly. I was displeased with the process but my account rep was attentive, appropriately apologetic, and expressed certainty that they would do anything necessary to provide an appropriate level of service. Project time was extended but the final product was solid. It shouldn't have taken three attempts, but Hood's went so far as to bring in a different sub-contractor as to provide solid work. I was pleased with the final product. New home: no problems with any of this work. Scheduling was difficult. I suspect that (as is typical with contractors) Hood's was overbooked / overextended. That said, the work seems to be solid. All in all, I appreciate the end: good work. I'm not sure that they'd be my first call the next time that I need work but I would vouch that they made sure I was (eventually) happy with the business.

provider was contacted 1 week prior to needed service and appointment was set. I was contacted 2 hours before appointment time and told they would be able to keep the appointment due to manpower issues. They offered an appointment the following which would have been after closing date of sale. Due to time restraints this put me in a real bind to scramble and try to find someone else on a short notice. Appointments should not be made if manpower is a problem because I explained during initial call the time frame. Needless to say I will not contact this company again.

He is already scheduled to come back to fix the ceiling. He is very friendly. Seems to be very knowledgeable.

It didn't turn out too well. He had some problems dealing with our ceiling. There were a couple of areas that he needed to cover with sparkle and he had to come back 3 times and he still didn't get it right. He came back 3 times and he was a very nice man. We just decided to leave is the way it was. He did the best he could in that situation.

I was 75% satisfied. I told them that some of the things I wanted to do, they needed a pretty good size ladder and they didn’t one long enough so the guy wasn’t able to complete the task but other than that, I did have several other tasks that needed to be done. Everything else was taken core of appropriately. I was just disappointed that he didn’t have a ladder long enough in order to replace a shutter that the wind had blew down. For everything else he had done and he was very, very nice, everything was good except for the fact that he didn’t bring a ladder long enough and he gave me the impression that if he was in the area again, he would get a big enough ladder and come by and finish that but from that point to this point, I’ve never heard anything else from them. As far as he was concerned, he had a basically something piece of paper that asked me if I was satisfied with their services and I signed it and I said yes but at the time, I was under the assumption that if he happen to be in the area with a longer ladder, he would be more than happy to replace that shutter to this day that might been done. So that was my only disappointment was that his ladder was not long enough to do everything and that actually was the main reason I had to call them, I had 3 shutters that blew off of my house. He replaced 2 of them and could not get to the one and one of the shutters seemed replaced had since blown back down. If they could have brought a bigger ladder and replace that shutter, I would have been 100% satisfied. They were very courteous. He showed up at the exact time he was supposed to or on time. He said he had a big ladder and he didn’t think he needed a ladder that big and he was sorry he didn’t bring it but he made no offer to go get the ladder and come back which I don’t know if it was possible to do that or not.

Since that was completed in an hour, our guy asked what else we needed done, and replaced several shingles on our roof. Excellent service and we would definitely hire Hood's again.

Ordered 4 hours of handyman services from Hoods last Monday using a special offer from Angie's List. Within 2 days I was contacted and had the service scheduled for one of the three times that I requested. That was today, a week after the original request. Very nice! Mark showed up on time today ready to install my new dryer vent. He did the carpentry and made a trip to the store for a few parts and got the work done on schedule. He also replaced 5 outside floodlights using his ladder. Overall used up the time as paid for and did a fine job. Very impressed with the service and ease to get the first step in our bathroom remodel completed. We will use Hoods again for home services. I was very pleasantly surprised and my expectations were exceeded.

We heard an advertisement for Hood's Home Services on a sports talk radio and also looked at the reviews on Angie's List. Being a VFL, we figured we could trust him to do a good job for a reasonable price and we were correct. But I would not have hired Hood's if they had gotten bad reviews on Angie's List. Everything worked like clockwork. Daniel Hood was able to give us an estimate over the phone based on what we told him we wanted done. My husband is putting a workshop area in our garage and wanted the garage to be warmer. Two guys showed up right on time, did the job well, took pictures for me since I didn't want to climb into the attic, cleaned up very well (insulation is a messy job because it gets everywhere). Our garage is almost as warm as our house (when we don't have the heat on). I hope it helps keep the garage cooler this summer too. We were very pleased and would use Hood's again.

These guys are great! Would definitely use them again.

I once again purchased an Angie's list special to install a curtain rod over a sliding door, fix a closet system, install a new hanging bracket in a broom closet and to haul a large piece of cabinetry out to the garage. I asked for Mark as I've had him out to my home before and he got so much done! Everything on my list was completed. I was hoping for just the four things but much to my delight much more was accomplished. He even hauled the cabinet out to the garage in the rain despite my suggestion that it could wait until next time. I couldn't be more pleased.

It was not a positive experience. The guy didn't bring a ladder and he wouldn't use mine. He never called me back after he said he was going to after he got a ladder. It was going to be a free estimate as I refused to pay for an estimate. He arrived on time.

Hood's was recommended to me by a neighbor, who said Mr. Hood was running a special. I called him, and he was able to schedule two employees to come out the day after Thanksgiving to hang lights on my house. I have a two-story; and I cannot hang lights on the rooftop myself. He sent out two awesome young men, Joshua Stacy and James Smith, to do the job. They were wonderful, and hung my lights exactly as I wanted -- they outlined all the roof lines and upstairs windows and garage doors. It turned out beautiful. They didn't leave until everything was just right. I know it says $0.00 in the approximate cost of service box above; of course that is not right; but I put that down because I haven't paid yet -- I filled out the information on the form they gave me, and Mr. Hood is going to send me an invoice -- so I'm not exactly sure what the total bill is going to be, but I know Mr. Hood will honor the service special ($99 for two hours) and give me his best price for the remaining four hours work. That very night I had neighbors commenting on how great everything looked, and asking me who did the work. Another neighbor commented that she knew Daniel and that he was terrific. I am really grateful to find Mr. Hood and his wonderful employees. I definitely recommend his company and intend to use them again.

Ed was assigned to come out and do an estimate for the cost of repair for both the chimney and a roof vent that came loose on the opposite end of my condo unit. Ed showed up on time; however, he did not bring a ladder with him... you know... for a roofing/chimney issue. The first thing he said to me is that he messed up by letting someone else take his ladder that morning. I informed him that I had a brand new ladder that he could use to get on the roof, but strangely enough he brushed it off and said, he could probably see the issue from the ground. At this point I was already inclined not to trust him because diagnosing a roofing issue from the ground makes as much sense as lighting your house on fire just to see if your smoke detectors work. I mainly let him continue trying to diagnose the problem and give me an estimate because I was curious just how long he would stay and assume what the problem was before he wrote up a bogus estimate (which never happened) and left. He gave me a ballpark amount and told me he would have one of his "roofing guys" come out and do an estimate, to which he reassured me I would "not have to be home" in order for them to perform. So not only did the guy I assumed to be a contractor forget his ladder, he was just going to send a random worker to my house to do an estimate in his place. He said he would be in touch with me, but I'm sitting here nearly a month later and still did not receive a call. If I hadn't received estimates from four other contractors, I would have followed up myself. The customer should never have to follow up and should trust that the company would keep their word and show up with the correct equipment to do something they promised. I've used Hood's Home Services (formerly Hood's Handyman Service) in the past and had an issue that Daniel Hood himself made sure was fixed to my satisfaction which is why I wanted to go through this company again. Since I wasted an afternoon away from my job and because this work is expected to cost as much as it is, I can only trust a company who knows how to follow through on their promises and I'm afraid that is not Hood's Home Services. I would love to (and always try to) make sure I write as positive of a review as possible, but Ed really messed this one up.

The job is not yet complete but we have been very pleased with the work that has been completed. I met with employees from Hood's on two occasions prior to beginning the job. On both occasions, the representatives arrived early for our scheduled meeting. A detailed estimate and time line were provided. They showed up on time but did exceed the time line for one of the jobs. There were a few glitches along the way but they have communicated about each issue and worked to correct the problem as quickly as possible.

eOn 11/22/2015 an employee arrived on time to look at four potential jobs for Handyman: installation of outside motion sensors, cleaning and sealing of a concrete and stone front porch, repairing a large cracked and uneven concrete deck, and repairing places where a concrete walkway is pulling away from a carport. I was promised an estimate. Six days later I had no estimate.I sent two emails to the website asking for the status of the estimate and received no answer. I got a reply stating where I had emailed was the designer of Handyman's website. It was apparent there were some technological problems.I texted the phone number that had set up the appointment of 10/22. 865-851-5002. The text of 11-29 -2015 read " FYI a week ago an estimate was promised for (name and address). Two emails were sent by me (one today). A response came from Hoodshandymanconstructiongeneral@inhousegfx.com saying they had no previous email records for my request yet I had two emails from the same email address confirming the copy of an email inquiry from me. I don't wan't a phone call. I want the promised quote via email or a text saying the job can't be done. " I got a reply on 11-29 via text from Hoods : " We can't patch that job. We have to completely tear it up and repour it. Would you like an estimate for that ? I texted back on 11-29 "Would you be more specific ? ie there were at least two phases of concrete/brick work." It is 11-1 and there has been no reply. Note there was no mention of the electrical and cleaning and sealing jobs.

First day of my vacation and there was no heat! I didn't tell them it was my birthday, and so far it was miserable. But I called and asked if someone could come out and find out what was wrong with my HVAC system. I called the company that installed it, and they wanted an exorbitant up front price. Hood's only wanted a fair, nominal fee to diagnose the problem, which I was so thankful for. I live in Oak Ridge and was starting to think nobody would come. They sent Chris out the same day, and without complaint he stayed as long as it takes to figure out everything he would need to do to get us up and running. I have an older system and I expected a sales pitch. Didn't get one. I got straight up workmanship. Chris was honest and knew what he was doing. I told them I could give them the money to fix the unit on Friday. So Friday, Chris came back out, with the new part I was missing (blower motor) and took care of the job. He didn't do anything that might make the visit more expensive. He did everything he could to be considerate of the expense, and he was extremely polite the entire time. When he was done, I spoke to Mary on the phone who always sounds like she's so very happy. I was impressed by their professionalism. They went above and beyond what is required in their work and I will never consider using anyone else until I've asked Hood's for other jobs I will have around my property.

I took advantage of one of Angie's List special offers and bought the $89.00 for 2 hours of handyman services from Hood's. After I described what I needed to Mary in the office, she suggested that Ed come by and look at the job to see exactly what I needed. It turns out that Ed lives quite near me, so he came as scheduled, evaluated the job, and offered to pick up a part for me in Knoxville before he came back to seal the glass shower stall. He and I were able to schedule this to suit us both and he completed the job with no problems. Afterward, we discussed another job which we'll need done soon, so perhaps we'll see Ed again! The B for Responsiveness results from the fact that it took a few days for Hood's to contact me, but all went beautifully after that first delay.

I've been in this home since 2008. Last week, the large mirror in the master bathroom became dislodged from the wall. Thankfully, it didn't hit the floor and shatter and likely seriously injure me. Mark and Tyler arrived promptly at the appointed time and examined the mirror. Upon examination, Mark determined that the mirror was never properly installed. They took care to remove the remaining adhesive from the mirror before reapplying new adhesive. They then added a mini-base to fill the gap between the mirror and counter top. As the mirror is large, they also added additional anchors at the top of the mirror to ensure that it remains on the wall. I also asked to have the guest bathroom's mirror inspected and properly anchored. Mark also cleaned my gutters on the house and shed. He left the surroundings immaculate. Mark and Tyler were very pleasant, professional and efficient.

I purchased the two hour special on Angie's list and it went very well. I was sent an email notification with the contact number for the provider and setting a date was no problem. Mark came to my home on time, as scheduled, and did a great job. I had one small deck on which I wanted the lattice just hung from hooks because my crawl space access is beneath it and Mark did a very nice job with that. He also caulked some solar lights on the stair posts for me because, frankly, I wasn't quite sure what to do with them. All in all a great experience start to finish and I plan to have Mark come again for other chores.

Mark can do just about anything. We have used him and his company several times and have been pleased. He hung new blinds all throughout our house and put together a large, complicated bookcase. He also installed new smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors and quickly fixed a problem with the kitchen sink trap that a would have cost a couple of hundred dollars if a plumber had done it.

The process went very well. Mary in the office was very nice and professional. The men that did the work were pleasant and were very good at doing their tasks. I would recommend them to anyone.

Everything went great. They showed up when planned and handle the job swiftly and professionally, The job turned out to be more complex than planned, but they stayed until it was complete. We had a chandelier installed in a new location and they even came back to make sure the patchwork on the old hole was done properly. Would recommend to anyone.

Mark was fantastic. He was very considerate, very clean with his job. Mark was very easy to get along with and understood what I needed done and made sure he asked questions if there were any.

It went beautifully. From Start to finish. Bobby was on time, looked at the job and brought in the necessary tools. He didn't have any problems getting the tiles out and replaced in record time. Very knowlegeable.

Very punctual. Very professional. Mary, Edd, and Brad are the ones I worked with. Brad did most of the work and Edd was the lead did the scoping of work and did some of the actual work. Used Hood again right away for plumbing issue and will use again soon.
