The work crew was very friendly and very efficient. They worked hard and they did a good job.

Mark and his workers are very professional. They did a wonderful job, start to finish. We have several other renovation projects and will definitely have custom renovations come out again. For the custom cabinet work one would never know that a renovation was done. The cabinet work blends beautifully with the existing cabinets. If anyone has a 90's style kitchen where the microwave sits low under the cabinet, not giving enough clearance to the stove top, Mark is your man to correct this. We were very pleased with the finished results. They did extensive repairs to the deck and made an old neglected deck look new again. They replaced various rotted trim all over the exterior of the house as well as a few pieces of siding. They also did some masonry repair to a large retaining wall in the back yard. And finally, replaced the front and back doors as well as the front lights. The house looks great. We recently purchased a bit of a fixer upper in West Knoxville, finding custom renovations has really helped. We have a house in the DC area as well and I only wish they could come and work on that house as well! I never found any contractor in the DC area that I would have been willing to give rave reviews. So happy that we found one here in Knoxville.

UPDATE: I was sent the promised estimate at the end of April (28) however there was a problem with the notification from my email provider. I just today became aware of this. I am very relieved to discover the reason for this apparent anomaly given CRC's record, and to set the record straight. I contacted CRC the last week of March after seeing their most impressive straight-A reviews. Initially, I was worried that they would be too busy to take on the few minor jobs I needed done. An appointment was set for April 4. Somehow, I managed to put it my calendar for both the 4th and the 11th, so when he didn't show or call on the 4th, I reasoned I'd goofed it up and it really was the 11th. Unfortunately I didn't see or hear from anyone on the 11th. I decided to wait and see if someone would catch the oversight and call me. No one did, so I called on the 15th and told my story to Gina. She apologized, said she'd been out of town and sometimes things get overlooked when that happens. Said she'd have Mark call me, which he did, and he apologized. We rescheduled for 4/17, between 1 and 2 in the afternoon. He arrived promptly at 1. Very nice, professional gentleman. I showed him what I needed done and he said he'd get back to me with an estimate. The proposal was received April 28, but not seen until May 7. A decision will be made by the end of the week

They arrived early on a Saturday morning and worked till dark to finish the roof. I have an extremely peaked roof. They did a great initial cleanup and returned Monday to install the gutters. The cleanup was very thorough. It looked like my yard had been vacuumed. I have already requested estimates on future jobs.

As far as general contractors go, a 12x12 attached shed is on the small end of construction projects, so we went in understanding that we weren't going to get red carpet treatment. Work was begun when the weather allowed it; a generally wet spring prevented us from starting as soon as I would have liked. In the beginning, communications with CRC were a little spotty, but once work began in earnest, Mark (the owner of CRC) was very kind and responsive. All his subcontractors performed admirably and promptly. We were particularly impressed with the man who put up the framing, Matthew. They were kind, appreciative, and very accommodating. The end product was exactly what we asked for, on time and within budget. At the start of the project, Mark made some substantial suggestions that improved the finished product considerably, and was no extra charge to us. Even when we had a hiccup with the permit and inspection process with Farragut (not CRC's fault), Mark resolved it promptly and we now have the approved permit in hand. I would certainly consider using CRC again for other projects. Neighbors are now looking at our attached shed, and I will happily point them to CRC for their consideration.

Roof leaked due to some a few bad shingles. Approx 2ft x 2ft. It took a long time to get the roof repaired and the ceiling painted.

Custom Renovations did a great job on repairing our roof for a pretty reasonable price. I haven't been up on the roof to look at the work, but we have had a couple of downpours since the repair and no more leaks which is the important part. Mark came out to give us an estimate on the job on a Tuesday. He was prompt and explained in great detail what we needed done to our roof after he finished the inspection. He even made a few minor repairs for no charge while he was up there. He would have repaired the roof the same day but it is pretty steep on the back side of our house and a long way down, three stories, so I can't blame him for not wanting to do it without the equipment. He scheduled the repair to be done on that Friday but called the next day and said they could do it Thursday instead if that worked for us which was awesome because it was supposed to rain that weekend. I received a call Thursday afternoon from Mark to let me know his foreman was on his way so I could meet him at the house. Josh, from Custom Renovations, showed up about twenty minutes later. He knocked on the door to introduce himself then promptly got up on the roof and began working. Mark showed up a little while after to see how the repair was going and to see if we needed anything else done that we didn't mention before. All of the work was completed in about two hours. After Josh finished the work, I paid him and asked if he could go ahead and give me an estimate on replacing the whole roof because the previous owner never replaced it after the infamous hail storm of 2011, which is were to hole in the roof and the eventual leak probably came from. He said he would measure it and have Mark email me with an estimate. A few days later Mark emailed me with a pretty affordable price for the whole roof replacement so I may be writing another review for Custom Renovations Company in the near future.

We had needed a new roof for some time and called several companies for estimates. CRC offered a very competitive price while while using higher quality materials (most companies gave us quotes for just using 15 pound felt while CRC's estimate was for a higher quality synthetic barrier). Mark came out late on a Wednesday evening to meet with my husband and I to go over the estimate and through out the whole process never tried to hard sell us on anything and was very approachable. Leading up the work, Mark was in constant contact about the timeline and work began when promised and was done within a day and a half. The crew was very professional and cleaned up all remnants after they were done. Overall, we were exceptionally happy with our experience in dealing with CRC and Mark and would suggest them to anyone needing roofing work.

A leak developed in the kitchen before work had started and Mark Steck patched it, but a little water damage had to be repaired after the roof was replaced. When the old roof was removed they found the rafters should have been thicker so some structural reinforcement was needed. The only surprises were the hidden problems already there that they found and fixed.

Marc arrived on a Friday evening, as scheduled. Looked at the job and asked if I wanted it done on the spot. Done! Now that is service!

After initially experiencing difficulties receiving an estimate for some structural work on my residence, Mark followed up and came by for a detailed, insightful, examination of the property. He has since submitted a written estimate to remedy our issues with the house, which we received on 03/17/13. We haven't decided which route to go yet on the improvements, but are pleased with the follow up.

Dealing with Mark Steck was a great experience. We won't hesitate to have him again. He and his men did a great job!

Overall, we were very pleased with CRC. We had another company working on the leaking chimney for 2 years and they had not been able to stop the leaks. The work CRC did on the chimney has been tested by some heavy rains with no leaking. The CRC crew was professional and punctual. When the crew couldn't finish up on Friday, they came back on Saturday morning to finish the job. I did have a little trouble connecting with Mark Steck in the beginning to get an estimate. However, Mark was the only one out of 4 companies I contacted to call me back until we had an appointment and his communication with us after that point was very good.

Work was performed in a timely/professional manner, and they even came back to address/fix a subsequent issue. You can't even tell where the old roof/gutters stop and the new one(s) begin...CRC paid such close attention to matching existing materials the installation appears seemless.

I would like to give Mark and his team an EASY rating. From start to finish, I felt like everything was so simple. I expected to dread the entire process but that was definitely not the case. I contacted several contractors on Angie's List to get estimates to install new siding and gutters on my house. I decided to hire Mark because, even though he was not the cheapest bid, I felt like he was the most professional and experienced. It was the right decision. Mark and his team were excellent. They did what they said they would do when they said they would do it. They were always polite and professional. They replaced the old siding, trimmed everything and installed new gutters and downspouts. It turned out beautifully. My home was build in 1948 so there were the usual issues that renovations on an older home involve. They answered all my questions and went out of their way to ensure that I was satified with all aspects of the job. They even installed the new outdoor fixtues that I purchased at no additional charge. They picked up their mess each evening and made sure everything was cleaned up before they finalized the job. When Mark came by to pick up payment, I was happy to write him the check. Overall, it was a great experience. I am very pleased to have found someone who I feel like I can trust. I would definately recommend Mark and will be using him again in the future.

Mark promptly arrived when promised to provide an estimate on the job. His estimate was slightly higher than another, but I appreciated the suggestions he made to make the repair a better value without spending much additional money. The supplies were delivered and the work completed as promised. The guys cleaned up the area each day before leaving the job site. The only detraction would be the number of nails I have found around the house. The crew ran the large magnet around the house and picked up a large number of nails, but my granddaughter and I have found over 200 nails in the yard near the house since then. I would not hesitate to use or recommend CRC again.

I cannot speak highly enough of the company and people who work for it. The estimate was done carefully and there were no extra charges except when some of the painting specifications were changed. All the workers were exceptionally polite and took pains to be considerate of the house occupants during construction. The work done was exactly that which was required, with no attempt to expand the job to include much broader (and more expensive) renovations as I had found with several other estimates. All of our concerns were taken seriously and addressed in full. I have a lot of confidence in the work and in the business integrity of the owner.

The job went well. Mark was very responsive and open to discussing various alternatives. He also provided estimates for work that we want done in the future that did not fall in the "immediate repair needed" category. The guys were very professional and courteous (and tolerant as they had to put up with our dogs barking constantly whenever we took them out to go to the bathroom). Our project turned out to be a bit more work than expected, but they tackled it with no complaints. They were very open and honest about the problems encountered and always requested feedback prior to proceeding with any additional items they discovered. Overall it was a good experience and I look forward to working with them again in the very near future!

Initial visit. Owner, Mark Stech, showed up on time, inspected job, and subsequently provided a prompt email estimate. Price was considered neither high nor low, quite close to 2 other competing bids we obtained. We opted for CRC because of on-line ratings and because of owner's professional manner. Work day one, April 2012. Mark's crew showed up on time and gutterwork went as planned. Crew was courteous and professional. Work day two. Crew again showed on time and performed underground drainage pipe replacement as planned. I was completely satisfied with work on final walk-through with owner. In retrospect, Mark and I both failed to notice that a pop-up emitter was not present in the front ivy garden. This meant crew had not replaced 2 drains. 8 months later, moisture problems in crawl space recurred. At length I realized the problem may lie with failure of the 2 supposed gutter drains in the ivy garden region. I apprised owner Mark of this. Several weeks later he sent his work crew out and they confirmed my suspicions. On a real time call, the owner did not hesitate to confirm that CRC would stand by their contract and perform the extra work no charge. The 2 additional PVC pipe drainages were accomplished same day without incident and I am satisfied entirely with the work. Overall experience: quality work at fair price. Punctual and courteous work crews. Owner stood behind his work and our work contract.

I called Custom Rennovations on 02/15 after 3pm in the afternoon. A lady answered the phone and I told her that we had a roof leak that needed repaired. I was told that because it was so late and on Friday that I would receive a call back from them on Monday, 02/18 to set up an appointment time. Today is Feb. 23 and I just now received the promised call back. In the meantime a friend from our church recommended someone to us and they showed up on Monday, 02/18 and very quickly and efficiently repaired the leak at a very reasonable cost. So my advice to Custom Rennovations is call back when you say you will. You snooze, you lose. Not terribly impressed.

This was a good experience. Mark Steck came and gave me an estimate (reasonable price) and told me when they would be able to do the work. They have done other work for me before so I knew they would do a good job. They were very nice, professional, and worked quickly. The new gutters look great! Thanks y'all! I will use them in the future for sure.
