Made an appointment, then did not show up. Waited 45 mins then called. Other job was running over, he would call me back. Called me at 9pm,, not able to answer phone this late. Did not seem organized or interested in working in my area, never called back.

Called this company on 7/8/2013. Represenative said they would come out by the folowing friday to look at the job and provide an estimate. Phoned the following saturday and left message when no call or estimate was provided. Phoned again on 7/17/2013 and spoke to the office manager. She said the owner would call me later that day to discuss details. When that never happened I phoned again on 7/19/2013 and got no response.

Mark missed the first appt. to do an estimate. We rescheduled. When he arrived he checked my gutters and said he could replace the caulking at joints. He estimated $250. Said he'd email the official estimate. About a week later the email arrived but cost was $300. I objected. He said he'd forgotten what he told me and provided a corrected estimate. I accepted and asked when he could start. He said that Friday 7/12. I told him that my lawn mowing might interfere. He said he'd check his schedule for Saturday 7/13. I did not hear from him again. I called and asked if he was coming on the 13th. No answer. So on Monday 7/15 I sent him an email saying that based on my experience with him thus far, I would look elsewhere for my gutter work. He claimed that he'd gotten crazy busy and offered to come on Tuesday 7/16. I said no.

I thought Mark provided excellent oversight and service for the project. He was always reachable by phone, we walked the job down together and he gave me choices about what we might do to stop our moisture problem. The estimate was provided quickly and the work was done well and in a reasonable amount of time. When we noticed that the workmen did not dig the trench as deep as what was specified in the contract, I contacted Mark and he notified the crew immediately that the trench had to be deeper, and he came out to provide oversight of that work. The only thing less than excellent was that they could have done a little better on putting the yard back together after they finished, but I didn't consider it significant. After the work was done we had 4 days of rain, and absolutely no moisture or seepage. We put away the fan and the dehumidifer, and we were glad we had this job done. We plan to use Mark again in the future, and I would recommend his company.

Owner gave estimate and checked on work at completion. Crew very professional and respectful. Quality of work was clearly important.

Everything went fine. CRC completed the roof in one day with large, well-trained/experienced crew. Gutters took about 2 days due to complexity. We have no hesitation in having Mark back to install hard wood floors. It's good to find a competent, ethical, trustworthy contractor! We've remodeled 3 homes and CRC is by far the best we've seen. Update/follow-up: There were some attic supports that were either a bit loose beforehand or had come loose during the shingle replacement (perhaps due to traffic and loads on the roof). I mentioned this to Mark Steck and he had his crew take a look. Within an hour of their arrival, they had everything taken care of: loose studs were reinforced/braced with several well-placed wood screws (not just nails) and additional cross members installed on trusses. Everything was tight afterwards. It's this kind of follow-up that is critical to the entire job. Remember, once a contractor has your money and is gone, it may be difficult to get him back. This was not the case with Custom Renovations - they will do the entire job properly!

The workmen, the owner's sons, did the work. They were here on time, they were professional in their work and worked diligently. They had to blend the new drywall into the rest of the ceiling and this was expertly done.

Mark and his crew did a fabulous job. They went above and beyond what I requested them to do. Mark was always available by phone. Their work was excellent and I cannot thank them enough. You will not be disappointed if you use them for any job.

I reviewed Angie's List for someone to do gutter cleaning and minor repairs. This company was listed to do such work and had good overall comments and ratings. I requested contact on 6-9-13 and got an auto reply that the office was closed and someone would contact me the next day. No such contact was received therefore I called them on 6-11-13 and spoke with Mark who said he did see my email request but had not contacted me yet. He said he would call me back to schedule an appt. I never heard back until the 19th and then he simply called and said he would be in the area and wanted to stop by and look over the job and give me an estimate. My wife said he was nice but he did not leave an estimate and that he would email it to us. One and a half weeks later I still had not received an estimate so I called and left a message indicating my frustration and would go with someone else if I do not hear back soon. July 2nd I did receive an email quote from him but it was not for the services I requested! It was for replacement of my gutters and some roof shingle replacement not gutter cleaning and minor repairs. I sent him a reply of how frustrated I am with his service and his quote for replacement of items that only needed cleaning with some minor repairs was unacceptable. This has been a terrible experience for my first time using Angie's List!

Old roof was taken off and discarded appropriately. Took 2 days to put on roof. Almost all nail were cleaned up. \Very Satisfied with roofing job.

Mark made an appointment to come to my house. Never showed up or never called to say he was not coming. I took time off from work to meet him.

All of the staff worked hard and stayed on task throughout the several days it took them to complete the many tasks. They were all kind and asked me if everything looked okay or did I want something changed. A good experience.

I was disappointed because of the good reviews he had received on this list. However the reviews that aren't good seem to be around punctuality. If I was handled this way before I become his customer....how would I be treated after. A simple phone call to let me know he would be delayed a few days would show his respect for his cutomers.

Initially, I was pleased with Mark's responsivness. Our first visit occurred as scheduled and he provided his estimate for the work to be done as committed (within a week). During his initial visit, Mark walked the perimeter of the house, appeared to make copious notes, and went onto the roof to examine both gutters and chimney. We discussed the work to be done and his quote seemed reasonable (in the sense of my expectation). I chose CRC based on the number of favorable reviews they had received. Once the quote was given, I took time to understand the details (about 10-12 days) before responding with additional questions. I had requested that CRC include gutter guards in their estimate; this was overlooked and added $450 to the cost of the job. I also had questions about the nature of the materials which would be used (manufaecturer of vinyl siding and shutters) and the options available to us regarding style of both. I also wanted to undertstand the nature of the chimney repairs suggested and ensure that the leak in the roof would be properly repaired. From the inside, I could see that the wood was damaged and needed to be replaced; Mark seemed to believe that the replacement of the existing metal vent with a ridge vent would solve the problem. From my perspective, I wasn't quite sure and asked that he include some specific wording regarding the repair. I was "open" to the cost of this in that I realized it would be difficult to estimate a cost until the shingles could be removed and the roof examined. Upon providing my initial response to CRC's quote, it became increasingly difficult to reach Mark. We normally communicated via email and having not heard back from him for almost 10 days, I decided to call. We finally "connected" via phone and I discussed my questions with him. Mark was kind in answering all my querstions and provided the manufacturer names of the materials to be used so we could select both style and colors. I was pleased with the materials based on website evaluations and responded with a follow-up email requesting various styles and colors be used in the installation. I received the traditional "automated response" indicating CRC had received my email, but to date (almost 3 weeks later), I've yet to hear from Mark. A failure to consistently communicate gave me concerns about whether or not CRC could follow-up on any issues subsequent to the initial installation. Mark had provided a "one-year" warranty on workmanship; in the other quotes I received, each had indicated a lifetime warranty. I'm not sure what has happened apart; he appears to be a very busy individual and the sole contact for providing quotes and following-up on subsequent questions. I became somewhat frustrated with delayed responses; during this time I took "Angie's advice" and secured other quotes from contractors; in this instance, both appeared to be more responsive than Mark. The project as described above was my "first venture" in significant house repairs/replacement; I moved deliberately in that I wanted to ensure a sound understanding of the process and materials to be used. Perhaps Mark had other projects providing more income than the project I had requested. I was disappointed in that CRC gave all in initial appearance of being a contractor providing sound service and value; repeated excellent reviews on Angie's List led me to believe they would be one to give serious consideration in having contracted work performed on our house. CRC went from "first" to "third" place in my list of contracting options due to a failure to communicate. Should you choose them for your contractor, I trust you will have better results that I.

I contacted them to repair our roof and siding after a tree hit the house. They came: they were not on time based on when they said they were coming. They have yet to provide us with an estimate. These other people gave me an estimate and did the whole job, and these people still haven't even given me an estimate. This was an emergency thing because the tree hit the house and there was exposed insulation and stuff like that. They obviously didn't really care either way. So I wouldn't grade them very high.

The estimator showed up quickly and did a good job measuring the house. He provided me with all of the information I requested including gutter guards and changing to a 6" gutter from the 5" I have now. Out of 4 quotes, this quote was next to the most expensive. The reason we did not use them is that I decided to go with a company that a contractor I had done some other business with recommended. The quote I went with was actually higher than this one.

Everything went very well. After contacting the company with our job request, a gentleman from the company showed up and immediately went to work. The job was done in just a few hours and any clean up to be done was taken care of.

A rating for the price is not given because there was no directly comparable other estimate for this variety of services. The cost as stated does not include the flooring material itself, which was purchased by the customer directly. All other materials (insulation, Tyvek, etc.) were included in the price. Initially there were some problems with punctuality; the workmen showed up hours late because of a family emergency. The work was done quickly and professionally. Especially the kitchen floor needs mention because the installation is very clean. The crew even went beyond their line of duty when they re-sawed flooring material to cover unsightly toe kicks on the base cabinets. The crew left the workplace in perfect, clean condition. This service provider was chosen because of an excellent Angie's list rating; he lived up to expectations.

A home inspection revealed a small hole and worn shingles on the front side of our roof. Based on the very positive reviews for Custom Renovations Company I called and talked to Mark Steck who is the owner. I wanted to get a 2nd opinion on the condition of my roof but most importantly, I wanted to get the small hole repaired. Mark came out the next day - repaired the hole and inspected my roof- all before the forecasted rain started. He is a very nice person who took the time to explain what he saw regarding my shingles, the hole and the recommended course of action. I will be using Mark and Custom Renovations Company again.

They did a great job. They were interested in my concerns and explained the function of the total job. We would never hesitate to have Mark and his crew do any future job for us.

After the big hail storm a few years ago I hired a co. to replace roof and gutters. Somehow what they installed never worked well together. Water poured down between the house and the gutters... not good! They tried several times to resolve the problem but never did.... Finally they stopped returning my calls, I later found out they are in bankruptcy. I was concerned that the cost to repair this would be more than I could afford. Looked through the providers on Angie's list and choose Custom Renovations Co LLC. Glad I did. Mark stopped over and assessed the problem. I was glad to find out that there was an easy fix and it was fairly inexpensive! The previous contractor even installed the downspouts upside down, which accounted for their leakage (no wonder they could never figure out how to fix the problem)! Mark, thank you for fixing this in such a professional manner. Angie's list, thanks for helping us to get the info necessary to make informed decisions. I learned never to use out of town providers!!!! Look local for companies that have a proven track record. Thanks again Mark and Custom Renovations.

Estimate took a bit of time to get & seemed a little high. Did honor Angies List discount & a senior discount. Did come & do the work in the week that was promised. 3 man crew worked efficiently & did a professional job. Used them 1 1/2 years ago to replace all the roofs of the house except the flat roofs. They did the work on time & on budget & I highly recommend Mark's professional approach to the business.

I had contacted 3 contractors for quotes on various repairs/updates as well as a new roof for the house, with the new roof being the priority project. The custom renovations owner, Mark Steck, returned my contact email request in a timely manner and we were able to set up an appointment that worked with my schedule. He was punctual and very professional with his inspection of the work to be performed, and provided good advice on the spot for ways to address some minor issues with the property. He also provided me some options to reduce the overall price. His quote came in under all other quotes for the work to be done and at least 15% cheaper on the roof replacement. He was very flexible on scheduling and was able to accomodate my particular scheduling difficulties. His crew showed up witin 30 minutes of the agreed time fully ready to work and started immediately. Custom renovations brought in a full roofing crew in addtion to an inside crew on the same day. They worked all day until almost 8PM and were able to complete the work wtih good quality in only one day to accomodate my scheduling issues. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the work crew. Both the inside crew and roofing crew cleaned up completely at the end of the job to include heavy use of the large rolling magnets to ensure all roofing nails were removed. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the work compeleted as well as the overall experience.

We were really pleased with the overall experience. It took a few days for us to get hooked up and get the estimate for the work but it was nicely detailed when we got it. Mark spent considerable time trying to make sure he was selecting the right color for the replacement gutters. He also patiently answered questions about the gutter guards we were considering. I had asked the installers to check for any issues around the chimney and they reported noticing a crack in the siding which they filled in so we hope that prevents any future issues. They were very pleasant and professional leaving a very good impression. With this type of work takes time/weather to fully test of course but so far we are very pleased. At this point, I would be more than happy to work with Mark and his company again on future projects. I've had poor experiences in the past with others so I think I have a good frame of reference to make such comments.

I was a little nervous working with roofing companies due to some stories I had heard. However, Custom renovations were able to put me at ease with their responsiveness. Mark Steck came out to look at the job and talk with me about it before pricing. He came out on the same day that I called him and walked on the roof to check out the job. Others said it would be two or three weeks or offered pricing over the phone. I wasn't comfortable with that. He had a quote to me a few days later. I was able to specify a date that I needed the job done and they met the date about a 1 week ahead of schedule. Another thing I wanted to point out: He was very responsive via telephone and also with e-mail. I usually got a response to my e-mail questions within a few hours of my original e-mail. Some of these responses were in the evening and early morning. I remember sending a note at 12:47 am and getting an actual answer to my question at 1:28am. This was not an automated response either (which they do send when you send an e-mail). His crew was very courteous and professional. I think everything went very well and will definately use them again.
