Custom rennovations does shoddy work. They offered us a WRITTEN 2-YR FULL REPLACEMENT WARRANTY on the work done. That included all parts and labor. 1) The were supposed to replace Anderson windows we had with Anderson windows (per written contract). They did not do that. They put really low quality windows which cracked by November 2013 and have no thermal barrier at all. They were informed in December of 2013 to fix this. We have now had cracked windows for over a year but these have NOT BEEN REPAIRED by Custom Rennovations even though it is FULLY under WARRANTY! 2) The cedar siding they replaced around the floor to ceiling widows was done incorrectly. They have known about this since the work finished in June 2013. They have not yet fixed it. 3) They stained the deck incorrectly and all the paint is coming off within a year of doing the work. They have not yet fixed it. For all of this, their only excuse - we do not have money to do fix these problems!!!!! SCARY! What is the use of the warranty? We will likely have to formal legal action. We have been very patient with them ....and have waited for a year for them to make the repairs...but they seem to not respond or care! We have called them every month...since Dec 2013...they keep saying next month, but it never happens! With all the cold weather in the winter and the hot weather in the summer, besides the major inconvenience, we have likely spent over $2000 in extra utility costs! I do hope that the company recognizes that a written warranty is a legal and binding contract. Once legal professionals get involved, their costs along with penalties for discomforting the customers by not doing timely repairs and extra utility costs, alone will all be many times more than the cost of actually doing the repair!

On the whole I was very pleased with the outcome. They are a very popular company so you might have to wait a while to get the work started. The workers were all extremely nice, professional, talented, and punctual. If you are interested in seeing pictures of the completed work just email me. Everyone who has seen what was completed loves it and we love the results. The overall price was very fair and I would not hesitate to hire them again for jobs both large, like this one, or small. The project ran about three and one-half months.

This company has been unresponsive for the past month and a half (December 1st - Jan. 7th). I left a message and waited a week for a return call. After the week, I tried calling around 3-4 times a week at different times during their stated business hours. Every call ended with me reaching their voicemail and no return calls. I have been trying to contact this company due to a roof replacement they performed in 2011. The roof started leaking around the chimney. After consulting with a chimney sweep/repair company, it was determined that the leak is due to water not draining from the roof and collecting against the chimney. This problem was known at the time of replacement, but not addressed properly. Since CRC Roofs, LLC replaced the roof ~2 yrs ago, I intended to have them assess the situation and determine if their warranty would cover the repairs. However, since this company is unresponsive, I will be moving on to find a more reputable roofing company.

We were quite satisfied. The crews showed up on time and worked hard all day. When one crew finished their job, the next crew was ready to start. All crews were had good equipment and knew how to use is. Mark was always available to take our calls and clear up any confusion. This is the second job we have had Custom Renovations do. If we have another job, we'll contact Mark again.

Very punctual and professional. As an architect, I work with contractors regularly. I did not mention my profession when working with this company, and so feel confident that anyone hiring their services would have as positive an experience as I did. Quality of the work was absolutely up to my high standards, despite my being out of town during the installation process. They were in close contact with me about things that came up along the way, and I agreed with all of their evaluations and recommendations. All of this said, I did request that they come back and fix a couple minor items, which they graciously did within 24 hours, and to my satisfaction. I recommend to anyone getting work done on their home that they closely inspect the final product and that they not be shy about requesting corrections they feel are necessary before sending final payment . In my case, it was a couple transitions from the new downspouts to the subterranean piping, and one downspout was not securely fastened with enough brackets. In the end I felt that I paid a fair price, and I was very happy with the open and thorough discussions beforehand, during, and afterward. The ease and promptness of scheduling the work was a most welcome surprise. My new roof, gutters and downspout look great and perform just as well!

Very thorough estimate and professional. Mark showed up as indicated and provided excellent recommendations and a complete estimate that was spot on. The crew arrived when I was away and my wife indicated that they were courteous and treated our home appropriately. After installation of the initially discussed gutter replacement I decided to go ahead and finish the rest of the house. Mark was very helpful and agreed to complete the remaining replacements in a timely manner. My wife and I intend to utilize the company again and would strongly recommend them to anyone else seeking a knowledgeable and professional general contractor.

The seamless six inch guttering was formed and installed in good time and the large gutters and drain holes and mesh covering should prevent any clog ups in the fall. The deck refurbishment included; 1. power washing the wood and the deck furniture. (Don even cleaned my lawn mower as I was about to mow the yard). 2. replacing all screening with nylon screen. 3. replacing some damaged wood in the deck floor and stair steps. 4. painting with a weatherproof stain (also a swing bench below the deck). 5. painting the ceiling panels. 6. installing new carpet. 7. installing two ceiling fans. I am very happy with the work that was done and will be calling Mark for any future projects. The men working were easy to talk to and stuck to the job. My thanks to Justin, Don, Gary, Shane, Marcus, Harold and Mark. Oh yea, the Angie's List coupon from CRC was very helpful.

We selected Mark to give us an estimate based on his incredible number of reviews here on Angie's List. Mark and his crew were excellent. They arrived on time every day and worked until the job was complete (including finishing on a Saturday). The quality of their work and the professional conduct of his employees was perfect. The job was done at a very competitive price and stayed within the estimate and even did work above and beyond the scope of what was quoted. They have excellence in workmanship and used top quality materials. My husband is a real stickler for details and hates shoddy work - he is beyond happy with the final result. We were happy to send Mark away with a laundry list of other repairs that we need prices on and we look forward to doing business with him in the future. Can't recommend this business more highly.

Roofers (subcontractor) took 1/2 day to find and fix problem. Other crew (not sure if subcontractor) installed drainage with valve and replaced sod within one day.

I found CRC on Angie's List. CRC had the highest ratings and the best reviews when compared to other local roofers / construction companies. They did an incredible job! They exceeded my expectations and have earned, through the exceptional job they did on my home, to have the highest ratings. There is no doubt that if I need any other work done to my home, I will only use CRC. I would highly recommend them to any home owner who is in need of roof work and/or construction, Mark Steck and CRC are truly the best around!

I have always fixed, repaired, or built whatever I have ever needed in the past but the gable roof over my deck was beyond my scope. Mark was the correct person for this job. He will actually listen to what you are saying and give an intelligent answer. Very easy to work with - knows what he is doing - patient with my questions. For CRC this was a small job - building a gable roof over my newly constructed elevated deck. As the job progressed a couple of small changes I made were taken in stride and accommodated. None if the workers throw cigarette butts in the yard, cuss, act stupid - everyone is very professional. I would without exception only use CRC in the future, Go ahead and get other quotes but in the end CRC is your best option.

Custom Renovations went out of its way, at short notice, to carry out the repair-work before I travelled overseas. The work was of excellent quality, completed over two days. The builder was thoroughly professional at all times. He answered all my questions and provided me with detailed and sound advice about other matters. I would definitely use the company's services again.

Originally contacted for an estimate on installing the range hood. Since the job required electrical, roofing, and ductwork, I contacted them for an estimate. When here, he noticed the undersized guttering that came with the house, that I knew needed replacement with the problem, he suggested that he prepare an estimate to replace the gutters and downspouts with proper sized guttering. I agreed to the additional estimates provided that they were separate estimates. When I received the estimate, I was pleasantly surprised with each item priced separately, with materials lists specifying the manufacturer and materials grade, and a fair price for labor and materials. I had planned on replacing the gutters. The total for both jobs was agreeable. Both jobs were completed on the same day by two, two man crews. Both jobs were very well done. The gutters were continuous, formed on site, and the factory paint matched my existing trim color on the house. The range hood installation was a little more trying for the crew, as the instructions for the hood were very badly translated to English by someone with Chinese to English dictionary and no concept of English grammar. Problem was not how to put it in, but in what order to put it in. A couple of retries were necessary to complete the installation, but it got in and the range hood is now operational and the result is excellent. Clean up was complete, and performed before they left, and they even took the shipping carton that the range hood came in. Will definitely use them in the future for more alterations and repairs.

Not only did he repair and replace the wall but he installed a drainage system to prevent reoccurrence. In the process he also routed my downspout to the drainage system. His people did a great job supporting the deck while rebuilding the (cinder block) wall, applying stucco, painting, and clean up after the job was done. I couldn't be happier with the job he did. The workers were amiable and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. He rebuilt a small portion of the deck and did a great job matching the existing deck design and finding matching touch-up paint. He also replaced the deck supporting pillars and made them sturdier than the original.

Two members of this crew performed the work. They were clean, neat and picked up everything before leaving. To install the additional blow-in insulation they actually ran the hose through the outside siding to prevent making a mess in our den (great idea!). The man who installed the new door was soooooo meticulous, ensuring that it fit correctly. My husband said he took two hours to paint the door after installing it but it looked so good afterward. This was a great surprise because I didn't think they were going to paint the door. Overall, great job and I will definitely use them again for other projects.

They arrived on schedule and completed the job in one day. The estimate was done promptly and the work scheduled in a timely manner. They cleaned up all screws (used a magnet) and debris. I didn't even need to be there as long as they had access to an outlet. It was almost like they were invisible -- and isn't that what we want with repairs? Fix it with as little fuss as possible?

I was very happy with Mark's work. He is very professional, good communication. He brought some issues to my attention and we work out a plan for them. I would highly recommend Mark at Custom Renovations.

Construction process went smoothly without incident.

Custom Renovations came out to do an estimate for a complete roof but it took almost two weeks to get the estimate back and that was after we had to call them to see what had happened. We only knew they had been to the house because they left a business card in the door. After calling, they said we could expect the estimate on a Monday. We received the estimate on that Friday. At that time, we had already chosen another company to complete our roof.

Our basement was a big empty room (about 900 square feet) with just a washer and dryer and stored items in it. All of Mark's employees were extremely polite and professional as well as meticulous, particularly Harold, who did the sheetrock and most of finish work, Gary, who is a fantastic painter, and Justin (Mark's son) who is an amazing tiler. The finished product is gorgeous (wish Angie's list had a spot for before and after photos), family and friends have all comments on how gorgeous the room is. In addition to just fine work in general, Mark's suggestion of crown molding really made it pop. They also built us an absolutely beautiful set of stairs, with oak trim, that are a fitting lead in to this fantastic new space in our home. Mark was very professional to deal with and we were always able to reach him my phone, although that was seldom necessary as his staff is so good. We would absolutely recommend this company and, in fact, will be using them again shortly for some other work in our home.
