The last time around, the work went fine. I did not spend anything because I have a maintenance contract with them. Overall, they are quite good. They respond as needed and are very courteous. They have more than one office. I would continue to use them in the future.

About 7:30 one evening, I noticed it was getting chilly in the house and checked my thermostat. It was blinking an error code. I looked up the code in the paperwork releated to the installation of my heat & air unit and discovered that the code meant there was a "communication error." There was no "fix" indicated, so I called City Heat & Air (the company that had installed the original unit). A lady with their answering service took down my information and said she'd have a service tech call me. I didn't get a call back until about 10 pm. It was the owner of the company, Mike Davis. First he apologized for the delay in contacting me. The service tech who would normally have taken the call was out of town attending a funeral. I told Mike that wasn't a problem. I explained what was wrong and we arranged to have a repair person come the next day to figure out what was wrong. Fortunatley my Mom was staying with me so I was able to go on to work. The next morning, I received another call from City Heat & Air checking to make sure I'd been contacted the night before. I said yes I had and that I was expecing someone between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. (the time frame I'd requested). At 11:30 a.m. my Mom received a call that the technician was on his way. Steve arrived shortly before 12 noon and quickly discovered that wires running from my outside unit into the house had been damaged. Actually they'd been "chewed." I have dogs, bless 'em. Steve replaced the wires, taped them securely to the piping running into the house to lessen the likelihood that they'll be chewed again. He noticed that I needed some more insullation around part of the inside unit, and said he'd bring some back another day and take care of that, too. There was no charge. The unit was still under warranty. But who would have thought that the warranty would cover dogs chewing on wires? I was very impressed with the service I received. I was pleased when Mike Davis sold me my energy efficient unit back in January. I was even more impressed with the huge reduction in my electric and gas bills. But replacing dog-chewed wires at no cost really tops it all off. This is a great company. I would recommend them highly. ____________________ Updated Information: 11/18/2011. Well, the wonderful free service I wrote about turned out to not be free after all. Even though Steve told me that there would be no charge (and even after I raved online about how cool that was) I received the bill today for $121. Not really excessive, I guess, but the bill came as a HUGE surprise after I'd been told there wouldn't be a charge. I'd still recommend the company. When I made the original call requesting service, I certainly expected to be charged. But it is disconcerting to be told one thing and then find out the opposite is true.

City Heating and Air Conditioning gave me an estimate to replace the HVAC system and provided me options so that I could control the cost of a new system. They promptly answered all my questions and provided additional information requested so that I could make an informed decision about the make and model of system that would best fit my needs and budget. The work was scheduled within 3 work days of my decision to have the work done. The installers arrived on time and the work was completed within 5 hours. The workers wore protective shoe coverings each time they entered my home and they cleaned up after they finished. There was some rewiring necessary as a result of the change in system type. The new wiring was run inside the walls and was inconspicuous when they finished installing the new thermostat. The installers were very careful to check out the new system and make sure everything operated appropriately and show me all emergency switches and valves before they left. They gave me very thorough and easy to understand instructions on how to operate the new thermostat. This company, the service by their employees, and the entire process exceeded my expectations.

Very satisfied. Owner Mike Davis provided estimate and follow up. He did not try to oversell or talk over my head like others. Explained equipment choices very well. Company also dealt well with TVA and their financing.

They had installed the heating & a/c unit 12 years ago and all the service calls have been excellent. They are fairly priced and did a great job. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

I paid about $80 for a service call. It was a recommendation from a friend. They were real friendly, clean and careful about not making a mess in the house. I would use them again in the future if need be.

Previous A/C company couldn't find problem in 6 hrs and $300...City found problems & fixed them in about 4 hours...

We went with this company over 4 others we had estimates from. The crew arrived at the scheduled time and were ready to go. They did everything the estimator said they would. They worked very hard and got the job done in about 6 hours.

I was collecting estimates for replacing may upstairs HVAC unit. I met with the sales guy and he inspected the old unit and rather than leaving and sending me an estimate, he sat down with me, asked a few questions and I had my estimate. I felt comfortable with it, and it was quite a bit lower than the other estimates. The installers showed up the day after I gave them the go ahead. They were awesome. They went above and beyond what I expected and got the system installed and my bill was for the amount of the estimate. I am very happy with the new heating system and with the whole experience.

This was the first time we had used their services. We had four bids and theirs was competitive. The guys that were sent over were very knowledgeable. They cleaned up and there were a couple of bugs that needed to be worked out and they did. We are very satisfied.

This is just an unpleasant experience no matter who does it. Before it was completed, a shrub bed and nearby lawn, the crawl space, driveway, garage (and contents) two attics (and contents) had all been disturbed and loose insulation was everywhere. But we had no problems with the contractor. The crew came when they said they would, were pleasant, seemed knowledgeable, worked steadily, cleaned up as they worked. They have returned twice (once a year later) to correct ductwork connection problems...promptly and cheerfully...at no charge.

This company may do good work but their prices are too high. Therefore, I did not use them for this project.

City Heat & Air has a very good reputation in this area. We heard about it through friends and it turned out to be good advice. The work was done swiftly and efficiently. After the system was installed, they went through a thorough testing before they were satisfied with the results. The old system was taken away and disposed of. We were very happy with their service.

I have never had any problems with this company in the 7 plus years that I have been using them. In my opinion, they are the best in Knoxville and I would recommend them to anyone. They do not take long to fix things and they are always courteous and on time. I really do think that this is a great company to work with.

When I called to tell them that my air was not working like it should they were very quick to come out and check it. It only took about a half hour for them to have the problem fixed which I thought was very good. They are very easy to talk with and understand that time is important.

It was just a semi annual scheduled inspection, which in this particular inspection there were no problems with our unit. They were reliable and respectful in our home and they did a great job of cleaning up after themselves.

City Heat and Air were nice and professional too. They did a good job and the system has been great. No problems. They guaranteed their work and they've always been reliable in the past. They were one of the better heating and air guys you could find. We were pleased with them.
