The service was wonderful from the moment that I contacted them to schedule an appointment to the completion of the work. The tech was polite, sensitive and professional. No monkey business, he went straight to work. He put shoe covering on before entering my home which stayed on his feet until the job was done. The 10% senior discount was honored so I saved a little bit of money. I will definitely use them again.

Four techs arrived, they used mat outside door plus shoe covers. Each had a job to do and were efficient in their field. Cleaned up all debris at the end of each day's work. Pleasant and professional. I felt comfortable with the workers in my home. I am looking forward to future monthly utility savings for years to come.
Description of Work: As result of KUB/TVA energy audit Aire Serv: 1. air sealed with spray foam electrical, plumbing and top plate/drywall joint penetrations 2. blew in 700 square feet of R-38 insulation in attic, an additional 3" 3. constructed attic hatch cover/lid 4. reworked 4'10" ductwork in attic, installed damper, used mastic seal around take-offs, mastic seal inside returns, caulked inside register boots 5.HVAC tune-up 6. replaced/repaired attic baffles, used metal flashing for chimney 7. dug out and re-caulked seven windows inside and out 8. removed vents, sealed around edges and reattached 9. sealed framework around two filters

I was not aware that the problem was a cracked blade. When Jeff arrived he spotted the problem right away and put a new blade on order. I was on emergency heat for 2 days but was not inconvenienced since I have a gas fireplace. The service was no charge to me due to a 10 yr parts and labor warranty
Description of Work: Fan on heat pump had a broken blade. It was making a terrible noise.

Their service was fine. I still haven’t gotten it fixed. They wanted to do it a little bit more than I was wanting. They were even able to come out the next day. I have used them before and never had a problem with their service.

Their service was okay. I dropped them because they didn’t follow up. I had an annual contract and they didn’t follow up on the renewal. I have gone with someone else. The work they did when they started off was just fine.

Thank you for your review. Our records show that we have not serviced your heating and cooling system since March 7, 2011 and that your maintenance agreement ended on May 29, 2010. I apologize if there was an oversight and you were not followed up with to renew your maintenance plan, we do advise customers on their last maintenance that they are due to renew and we also send a reminder invoice to renew the month that the maintenance expires. I am not sure if that was the procedure back in 2010 or not. Please know that we value you and your family as customers and would like the opportunity to provide for your heating and cooling needs in the future.

They are great. They are always on time, very personal, polite, and clean. They don’t smoke on my property. I have used them for a few years, ever since I found out about them. I have a contract with them where they come twice a year to check over everything and do inspections.

He was really nice and good. The overall job went real good, and I am really happy with it. His price was really reasonable. He was helpful; he gave me a little extra advice about some of the problem I had and he did not charge for it. He got the problem fixed within 5 minutes. I was really pleased with him and I would rate them highly.

Robbie of Aire Serve of Knoxville came out when he said he would and made a professional impression. He was very dilligent and checked out the existing system and the needed load capacity. Price was an issue, but if you are more comfortable with a large company with a large repair service crew, then you might want to consider Aire Serve of Knoxville.
Description of Work: Recently checked out over 1 dozen AC installation companies in the Lenoir City / Friendsville / Maryville / Knoxville area. Robbie of Aire Serve of Knoxville came out and made a professional impression. He checked out our existing system, performed a load analysis and calculation and verified the tonnage that we needed. He provided me a written estimate at his visit, but it was almost $1500 more than the lowest of the other estimates. After talking with several other contractors, I put together a specification sheet and submitted that to all the contractors on my short-list for a rework of the estimate. Robbie responded promptly and called me to discuss a couple of items on the specification sheet. Although he was clearly very knowledgable, he suggested inverting the evaporative coils (on top) and the air handler (on the bottom) so that he would not need a cabinet because the return duct would go into the side of the modular air handler. After checking with the manufacturer that this was an acceptable, but not recommended configuration, I talked to Robbie about it. Because of price and the configuration issue (which would of course reduce installation costs), I decided to go with another AC installation contractor. They are a bigger franchise company, which means they probably have higher overhead costs. Finally, location was also a factor, as the contractor we decided on was very local to us (just 7 minutes away), which makes arranging for service & repair calls much easier.

At first, I thought they had done an OK job. I talked to my general contractor, telling him that it appeared that his crew might have shorted out the AC. My contractor sent another company (O'Dell's Heating and Air) over to check it out. They found that the cable to my thermostat had not shorted out. The problem was that the transformer on our inside unit needed to be replaced. They fixed the problem promptly at a full cost of $140, and my Air Conditioning was working again in about the time it took for Aire Serv to give an incorrect diagnosis of the problem. While I can understand that they might have misdiagnosed the problem on Tuesday night, I was particularly disappointed that this company never followed through to give an estimate to fix the problem. Fortunately, I found another company that did a good job with fixing the problem.
Description of Work: Aire Serv came out to my house to fix my second floor air conditioning unit, which had stopped working. It was a very hot day, and the temperature in the house was over 90. I was iniitally impressed because they did send a service technician out at about 8:00 on a Tuesday night after I had called them at 5:30. The service technician spent over an hour trying to diagnose the problem. In the end, he told me that the cable between my thermostat and my condenser had shorted out. He said he suspected that the problem might have been caused when a work crew installing siding on my house that day had nicked the cable with a nail. He told me that he could not fix the problem that evening but that the owner of the business would send me an estimate for the repair that night. However, we ended up never hearing from this company again.

I apologize that the technician handled the call in this manner, I have reviewed the work order and it is not our policy to turn it over to the owner for repairs, the technician can quote most repairs out of the book and if it is not in the book as this one was, then they're capable of quoting something like replacing a thermostat wire themselves. Unfortunately this employee did not follow procedure in this case and he is no longer with our company and our database has since been updated to reflect all pending repairs to ensure that instances like this do not happen again. Thank you for leaving this feedback and showing us a weakness in the system as we're always looking to the system for correction and proposing all possible solutions if something is not working, which appears to be the case. I hope that in the future you will give us another chance to earn back your business!

After a routine inspection, the service tech. said that i had a cracked heat register which could be potentially dangerous, and that by law he was required to disable my gas furnace. He showed me, using his slick video camera, where the rust and cracks were. because I had read about similar scare tactic scams online, I wanted to make sure, so i spoke with their owner, Jack. He came to the house himself, explained that my furnace was almost 20 yrs. old, and that it was time to replace it. he spent over an hour going over all the options, and really tried to keep my budget in mind. I finally settled on a Frigidaire model, and within a few days, my heater and air conditioner were replaced. Jack's installers were professional, courteous, and prompt. I love my new unit - it heats and cools much more efficiently and quietly. Thanks!

I get home from work at 6:30pm to find that my A/C unit had stopped working and it had been in the high 90s. My husband was at work. I have really bad seasonal asthma so I need my A/C. I called another place and the earliest someone could come out was the following afternoon. Becasue of my breathing, my husband said "get someone out tonight." I called AireServ about 7:30 and they said someone would call me back and be out tonight. Within 15 minutes, my service tech John called. I described the problem and he said he had one stop before me and would be out between 9:30 and 10pm. About 8:30, John called and said he was on his way. He diagnosed the problem immediately. The worst thing was waiting while he tried to find a suitable replacement part to fix my unit (which is only 5 yrs old). He found a part and had me up and running by 9:30pm. By this time my breathing had gotten really difficult. John was very understanding of my condition because he had a family member with the same problem. I know he had had a long, hot day but he was very kind and curtious to me. Thank you John and thank you AireServ for not sticking it to me with an outragious after-hours fee. After hours service fee: $99.00 Part $155.00

I contacted Aire Serv to provide an estimate for replacing a heat pump and air condenser unit, along with 2 other contractors. I was very happy with Aire Serv, but ultimately, the price for what they could offer was the deciding factor. Robbie Bailey, from Aire Serv, came out to the house to inspect our current system and provide the quote. He was the only contractor to do a complete "Manual-J", which was aimed at finding the perfect rated system for the size of our house and duct work. He was extremely thorough, measuring all of the rooms and the duct work available to measure in the garage. He did not go into the attic. He listened to our hopes and expectations and had some great suggestions. He was also very clean and wore shoe covers when entering the house. Robbie was very personable and pleasurable to work/talk with. He requested 24 hours to provide me with some initial quotes and said that he'd like to come back to go through them in detail within 48 hours, which I agreed to. He arrived at the house to review the quotes, which were all higher than I had received from the other two contractors. I believe it was because Aire Serv was a national company, even though they were locally owned and operated, and had more overhead. The quotes were also using Amana equipment, which had decent ratings and I was told that they were made on the same manufacturing line (and with the same parts) as another brand name. I can't remember if it was Trane or Carrier, but it was one of those, I believe. After I told him more of the ballpark we were looking to be in, he made a couple of phone calls to see what other options he had, since his laptop was having issues connecting to our network. He outlined a few more things, and I told him I'd like to think about it for another day, as I was also waiting on one other quote update. He emailed me again that night, saying that he did some more research and found a 14 SEER Lennox system that was at a better price, but upon researching that system on my own, I found it to be of builder quality and on the lower end of their product line. The price was still too high and, though he said there was more he could do, I was just too won over by another contractor (Chaffee Climate Control) to continue to entertain their price quotes. I didn't think they were going to get close enough to make it a competition anyways, since their prices ranged from $9,000 to $11,500. If you want the bigger brand name products and excellent customer service, and have a large budget, go with Aire Serv. If you're okay with brands like Frigidaire and still want excellent customer service with a lower budget, call Rex at Chaffee Climate Control. You won't be sorry. TVA came out after the job to reinspect the labor and there was a small part that needed to be filled in and Aire Serv came back out to take care of it. Aire Serv did a good job and was reasonably priced, the job wasn't big but it took a lot of time. They were certainly less than the other companies that were going to the same work. They came when they said they would and if they were going to be late they'd call to tell us; such as yesterday when the worker ran out of gas he called to let us know he'd be late.
Description of Work: Aire Serv came out and did what was recommended by TVA which was adding insulation to the roof and wrapping all of our pipes in insulation.

Working with Jack and his entire staff was a pleasure. Initial contact was made after seeing their service van on the interstate. Jack came out to do an estimate that afternoon. We had received several prior estimates but none that included the amount of service that Aire Serv offered. The true selling point for us was that Jack was very knowledgeable and put absolutely no pressure on us to a "today and today only" deal. When contacted to perform the job, he had the job set-up within 3 business days and his crew showed up promptly, in the low 20's and began to work. They could not have been any more professional nor efficient even with the persistent questioning of the homeowner, me. Their work was awesome with very close attention to detail and efficiency.

Our system had stopped blowing cold air and the cooling coils decided to freeze over one day and we called Air Serv out to take a look at it as the temperature in the house was steadily climbing in to the mid 80's. They came out the very next day and added some freon to the system as it was very low, we decided not to buy a new unit at that time because we were hoping it would last us until the end of the summer. The very next week the system did the same thing again, we had Air Serv come out again as they back up any work they do with a 30 day work warranty. The technician Sean came out the very next day again and genuinely felt bad when he told us that we obviously had a large leak of the freon and that he couldn't add any more because it just wouldn't do any good. So later that day, Jack, a sales person came out and took measurements and looked at all the existing duct work and gave us a few quotes on some different systems. We decided to go with getting a new system through them and they booked us an installation date for the very next available business day, as it was the Friday before Labor Day weekend. To help us handle the heat inside the house, Jack gave us a portable one room cooling unit which made a world of difference and our wait for the new system much more bearable for my wife and our two young dogs. When the crew got to our house to install the new system they were all extremely courteous and friendly. The only time the guys ever stopped working was when they went on their lunch break. After they installed the new system they walked myself and my wife around to show us the ins and outs of the system and the new thermostat and they made sure that we were completely comfortable with everything before they left. They also did an immaculate job of cleaning up after themselves, it is like they were never even there. Lisa, the lady at their office who I also spoke with on many occasions was great, she worked with us while we waited for my credit union to come through and was never once pushy to get things finalized as most people would have been. Air Serv also credited us for the money that we payed to have the initial freon put in the old system that ended up not lasting us. I just can't say enough good things about the people at this company, every single person my wife and I had contact with was extremely, courteous, friendly and professional.
Description of Work: Originally our A/C stopped blowing cold air and our coil unit had frozen over, they came out and put in some freon. The system then completely failed the next week and we purchased a Frigidair system through them and had them install it.

The technician from Aire Serv was more interested in making a sale than helping find a solution. Made no suggestions, gave my daughter no hope of relief except buying a new unit....(she could choose the $5000 'Chevy' or the $16,000+ 'BMW'. Not very helpful. The man who drove over 100 miles round trip, gave her an answer we could all live with until a new unit can be purchased, probably within the next 1 year . I will make sure that she is not taken advantage of again. The record heat seems to bring out the sales pitches in full force. Not everyone can just say " Okay, get me a new unit ASAP"!
Description of Work: My daughter's A/C unit was blowing hot air; she is a single mom w/2 small children (1 is a special needs child). The temperature was 87 degrees upstairs in their bedrooms & needed help in getting some relief. She called "Aire Serv" & 'scheduled' the next a.m. for a technician to come check it out. Tech called soon after appointment was made & said he could come that evening. He arrived, went to the back of the house, looked inside the unit & determined that there was nothing he could do. ($79 for this 'assessment)! (This took maybe a total of 15 minutes). He told her it's the coil, and would cost approx $1500+, it was an OLD unit, and she needed a new one. Proceeded to give her the 'rundown' of the price range, (quote)" The Chevy ($4-5,000), or the BMW ($16,000). He told her that the $79 charge would be deducted IF she purchased a new unit. The tech's service report stated: "The compressor was recently replaced, (which it has NOT been replaced) and the age of the unit and 'excessive repairs' would recommend a new unit. Very insensitive and not kind considering the circumstances! After contacting me, (her father), I called my A/C man (50 miles from KNOX) and he was really concerned that she & the 2 children were in 87 degrees temps (92 deg by this time). He immediately drove to Knoxville (100+ miles round trip) , removed the unit cover, performed a check list for diagnostics and within 5 minutes....YES.....5 minutes, he diagnosed & showed me the 'problem'. It was the accumulator! A part that is available, and problem can be remedied for <$500.00. An Answer to her problem was diagnosed & a solution offered at 10:30 p.m. last evening!

(02/04/2009) The owner came out and he was real thorough with getting measurements of each room so that he could install the proper size of unit. He sat down with us and went through all the details of what he was going to do and how much it was going to cost. We then set up a time and date. They were very punctual and were on time. They got the job done efficiently. I did have to have them come out last week because there was something wrong with the installation and they put in a new thermostat. The first estimate that I got was about $3000 less than Aire Serv. UPDATE (04/09/2010) Excellent. I highly recommend this company. We wrote a review prior to this but it did not reflect our experience since then. We furthermore had a typo. We mistakenly wrote that Air Serv's quote was $3000 more than another company we obtained, when actually Air Serve was $3000 LESS. These guys are true professionals. Any issues we ran into, they resolved quickly and fully. We did have some issues with the thermostat and they more than made them right. They were extremely thorough and really listened to our needs. I cannot say enough great things about this company. They are truly good, honest people.
Description of Work: (02/04/2010) Aire Serv of Knoxville installed a new heat pump in December. Comments: (02/04/2009) The owner came out and he was real thorough with getting measurements of each room so that he could install the proper size of unit. He sat down with us and went through all the details of what he was going to do and how much it was going to cost. We then set up a time and date. They were very punctual and were on time. They got the job done efficiently. I did have to have them come out last week because there was something wrong with the installation and they put in a new thermostat. The first estimate that I got was about $3000 less than Aire Serv.

I had a wonderful experience with them. Their price was reasonable.
Description of Work: I used Aire Serv Heating & Air Conditioning. They came in and replaced some wiring that ran in to the house from the air conditioner. They changed the transformer first thinking that was the problem, but it blew out within a week. They came back in and discovered that it was the wiring, so they changed the transformer and wiring and changed a thermostat.

We called to get an estimate on a heat and air replacement. They initially were responsive and provided the best estimate. However, they became less responsive when we told them that we were an Angie's list member and wanted to use the coupon they offered for Angies List Members ($500 off installation). I informed Chad (the person who quoted the system) that Aire Serv had a coupon on Angie's List. Chad was not aware of the coupon but stated he would find out when he got back to the office. However, before he left he gave us a single price quote without the Angie's List coupon. After a while, I contacted Chad and told him that the coupon was for $500 off. He said that they couldn't honor that coupon because everyone got a $500 discount on a new system and that it was already included in the estimate. He said he could probably give us $100 off, but the Angie's List Members only coupon would not be honored. Since it was still the best price we decided to go ahead and get the system he quoted and they were supposed to install it 8 am the next day. Mid-day Chad called to tell us that the system that he quoted wasn't yet available and offered an alternative less efficient system (also did not qualify for the government $1500 rebate), but there was a $600 manufacturer's rebate on the lesser efficient unit plus he would take $700 off to help match the goverment rebate. We told him that it seemed wrong to us (to sell us a unit that didn't exist as well as to offer a $700 discount when you wouldn't offer the $500 Angie's List discount) , so we wanted to think about it and told him we would call him back. We called him back and left a voice mail. That was two days ago and we still have not heard from him.

Excellent experience - Tony was fabulous - very professional for the initial call and then very informed about the heating/AC units they could provide and the differences. They were on time, worked quickly and efficiency and were always professional.
Description of Work: Seer 15 heating and cooling unit - price included unit, install and a new humidifier and install.
