Tri-cities Air Conditioning is punctual, detailed and provides quality work. There was an extra charge for same day service, but it is worth the extra cost to have someone trust worthy performing work on our system. They also recommended an improvement that will help with evening out heating and cooling in our tri-level. I can't wait to get the work done.

From the day they came out for an estimate, I couldn't have asked for better service. John came by and went over all my options and questions. I called him several times while trying to make a decision and he was always helpful. Once we decided on a system, he came by on a Sunday to bring us a portable air unit as ours was completely out. We were allowed to use it for free until ours was installed. The install crew was awesome and were always on time. The install went great and they cleaned up everyday when they were done. The quote was very detailed so there were no surprises.

It went very well. They were punctual, and very informative about how the system worked. They also provided a portable one-room air conditioner, since the job took two days. It cooled one room well enough that I did not suffer during the installation process. The system is now working very well. My only suggestion is to answer more accurately when estimating how long it would take to complete the job. I was told a time that was a few hours too early, so I didn't leave and complete errands that I could have. Otherwise, everything was great!

They don't even sell the brand of heat pump that I have, so I was really impressed with that too that they were willing to work on it because I had told somebody else and they wouldn't even look at it. They check my air filter and change it for me and then they come back and tell me everything that they've done. Everybody is courteous as they can be. My second pump is going to come from them because they were so prompt and so nice and I just really appreciate that.

The installatin team of Ben Rodifer and Rupert Congleton was a model of how we should all behave when we are in someone else's home. They were extremely professional and respectful. They even wore "booties" over their shoes when they were in the house! They were not only competent, but pleasant and personable as well. Thanks also to Steve Moore, who organized and managed this experience in a highly professional and competent manner. Thanks for a very good experience. We highly recommend Tri City Air Conditioning Company

I have been a Tri Cities Customer for a couple of decades. June 30,2012 I had a lower unit replaced/installed. This time I had upper unit replaced/installed. I have the service maintenance warranty as well. I checked with Angie`s List first because I know I can get valid information from you. Wish I had known about you sooner it would have saved me 10's of thousands of dollars. Then had three estimates. Tri Cities was higher than then other two. Trane also was more expensive than competitive brands. I chose Tri Cities because if I ever have a problem they are here the same day if an emergency. The next day if not an emerrgency. Loyalty to customers and loyalty as a consumer are extremely important to me. When the Tri Cities inspector came he discovered that the drip pan had not been installed. The team who worked on unit stayed and corrected immediately although a very long day. Due to the new regulations and design of unit our master bedroom closet was quite unsightly. Looked like a maintenance closet instead of a master bedroom closet. When I brought this to the attention of Tri Cities they immediately came out to look and worked with me by purchasing and installing a divider panel to enclose the drip pan, exposed wires (float necessary in case of overflow). The job looks very good now. I was given carte blanche on whatever type of divider that was necessary. Fortunately after research I found one that was reasonable. Tri Cities paid for and picked the divider up and brought to my house and installed no charge. I also was given a customer loyalty check and service plan. The warranty was a year longer on parts than the other two dealers estimates. This was a costly endeavor however after hearing the government regulations on Freon I decided it was necessary.

The estimator, John Primeau, was very thorough in examining and measuring our house inside and out to calculate what our HVAC needs were rather than just "eyeballing "it. He was very informative and there was absolutely no pressure or exagerated claims. In particular, there was no pressure to pile on add ons such as air cleaners, dehumidifiers, fancy thermostats we didn't need, etc. to run up the bill. Follow up calls to him were promptly answered. Since my wife's father was about to have surgery, TCAC sent TWO installation teams about a week earlier than originally schedulled to get it done in one day! The installation technicians were extremely professional, courteous, and hard working. Each introduced himself to us and gave us their card for documentation when they arrived. We have used Tri City Air Condition for HVAC service for a couple of years and ALL of their techs are this good. It was a big reason we decided to purchase from them. The installation went without a hitch and they were done slightly early. They even diagnosed and solved a pesky zone baffle problem that had been present since the house was built in 2008. They cleaned up everything to a pristine condition (or at least just as they found it!) and were gone. I can't express how pleased we are with Tri City, doing business with them is a complete pleasure. The friendliness, professionalism, and "customer care comes first" attitude is refreshing and reminiscent of bygone days. We could not recommend them more highly! P.S. Oh, and the Trane works like a champ too; dehumidifying much better, making 72 degrees feel significantly cooler than it used too.

I bought two Trane 15 SEER heat pumps in 2010. Worked great until the next winter. On first cold night one or both heat pumps put out a horrible stink. I called the seller and they sent a repairman right out. He said he sprayed something on the coil to clean it and eliminate the smell. The smell re-appeared that winter but only when the temperature dropped below freezing. When it happened again the following winter I called again and they again sent a repairman who did the same thing. This past winter when the temp dropped below freezing and the stink returned, the repairman candidly told me that he was unable to fix it and that I should contact Trane and complain until Trane agreed to replace the coil in each unit. He said they have run into this before and though Trane will be resistant, they might do something. He also said he would have to charge me $60 for looking at it (and doing nothing) and that I should get Trane to reimburse that, too. Not happy with Trane or with Tri-City Air Conditioning.
Description of Work: Provider called to offer a replacement (coated) coil to remove the odor on ONE of the units. I was told their office saw my review on Angie's List. Yesterday they installed it in a few hours at no charge. Wish they had offered to do the same before I ran my review. Trane has agreed to replace the other coil and pay for its installation by another company. That installation is next week. I hope that means no more smell this winter (when it worst). It took a while but I hope I've gotten what I originally paid for three years ago.

[removed member name], Thank you for your comments. I will research the odor issue and start the process with Trane to replace your coil or coils if applicable. This process can take a month or so, because the replacement coil will come with a special coating to ensure the odor will not reoccur. Our office will be in touch with you soon to give you an estimated date. Sincerely, Angela Rhoten, Owner

I'm going to repeat this in the review for the other player -Central Heating and Air Conditioning as they both play a role here. I'm unable to give a complete review for either as they are both pointing fingers at each other but here is how the story goes. I bought two new Trane 15 SEER heat pumps in 2010 from Tri-Cities A/C for $12,000.00 (new pumps & air handlers installed). A couple of months ago, the upstairs unit went out. I called the seller and they told me it would be three days before they could get to me. As it was beastly hot, I called Central Heating and Air Conditioning. They came right out and the repairman saw that the drain had failed, the drip pan had filled triggering the kill switch shutting the uit off (to prevent it from overflowing and flooding my house). He drained the pan, checked the line (and corrected another issue) and charged me a fair price. A couple of weeks later, the unit shut off again. Same repairman came out and dug deeper. He said there was a cracked drip pan that was inhibiting proper drainage and said it needed to be replaced. he ballparked it at about $300. He attributed it to a screw overtightened during manufacturing or installation. (His boss later told me the pan was under warranty so he would only charge me labor - $140.) I called the seller and said that if it was wear and tear, its on me but if its an installation or manufacturing issue, its on them. They sent someone right out (no, I did not have to wait three days then) and that guy said that the pan was broken, it was a "recent" break, and that it appeared to be from some sort of impact (translated - he suggested that the other repairman broke it). I told him that the other guy said it was about $300 and he said I should have them do it because if Tri-Cities A/C did the same job (pan replacement) they would charge me 3 to 5 times as much for the same job). Not knowing who was at fault or why I could only get it fixed and worry about the rest later. I hired Central to do the job and the same repairman came back with a new pan and installed it for $140 (his boss said the pan was under warranty). The fix took less than two hours and my A/C is working great. A lot of this from both sides doesn't make sense to me: Why would Tri Cities A/C charge up from $750 to $1500 to install a new pan which one guy from Central was able to do in a couple of hours for $140? Uless you're a forensic A/C repairman, how do you tell a break/crack is from "impact" and that it looks "recent?" How is a drip pan "under warranty" when I did not buy an extended warranty and the manufacturer's warranty expired two years ago? Why would it take an overtightened screw three years to break a pan and inhibit drainage completely? Bottom line, my A/C works great now and I had it done by Central for a LOT less than what Tri-Cities A/C told me they would charge me for same work. How I got to this point, however, is still a bit of a mystery.

Response from Tri City Air Conditioning Co
[member name removed], Thank you for your comments. Upon our inspection of the drain pan, we documented that a 1" section was broken out of the pan. Had this been done during the installation in 2009, there would have been a problem before 2013. Under no circumstances would Trane warranty a pan that was damaged. TCAC cannot respond as to why the other dealer's repair charges were less and will make no derogatory comments toward another dealer. Normally, unless we have extreme temperatures, we can take care of our customers same day or next day. Due to the fact that I don't know the date you called requesting service, I am unsure of the circumstances. We do offer 24 hour service, so calling after hours is always an option. I am regretful that you are unhappy with our service and we would hate to lose you as a customer. Please give me a call anytime I can be of service. Sincerely, Angela Rhoten, Owner

My experience with them has always been excellent. Overall, the job was excellent. They took the time to really dive into the problem that we were having with the heat pump. Plus it was a service job. We had purchased the house; it was obvious that the previous home owner hadn’t necessarily maintained the unit as much as they should have. Tri-City Air Conditioning Co actually took the time to really go over very thoroughly. They had to do a lot of extra work just to get it serviced. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

Tri-City Air Conditioning Co were the most professional people I have work with. They're the most expensive people I have ever had but they're professional from start to finish from wearing the shoe covers in your house to thoroughly doing a lot of calculations as far as the size of heat pump needed, the glazing and the number of windows. I dealt with a lot of places and I think they're the most expensive but I will absolutely keep them coming. They were wonderful. They had a team supervisor that supervises all the work. He wasn't on site all the time but he checked in everyday that they were here, to make sure that they were doing things properly. It was a really professional work done.

They were okay. They do adequate work. Once they came to do the yearly check on the air-conditioning unit and told us that everything was fine and a week later something happened to the air-conditioning unit that we felt like that they should have spotted when they came out to do the check which ended up costing $500. It was a bolt bunch that was sheared out and if they had checked out properly they would have noticed that the bolt was going to be sheared off. Other than that they are good and come out usually when they say they will. They give an appointment time and usually show up. To us responsiveness means that they adequately diagnosed the problem to start with which they did not.
