The Tree Trimmer

The provider stated he had dry cured firewood for sale, but could not work around my schedule to set a delivery date. Upon my third call in the space of three weeks, he stated he didn't really even have any wood split (usually the way the wood is opened up to dry it out), but he assured me that as soon s his crew could access the wood and split it (the place where he keeps it had yet to recover from a rainy spell), he would give me a call. The call never came. It was just as well. Although he offered a 10% coupon, that $9 savings was displaced by a $10 delivery surcharge since I was "out of the area". If you advertise your business as a Tri-cities business, and I'm kind of between Kingsport and Johnson City, so how come the surcharge? Bottom line - No one should have to chase a vendor just to eventually find out the product really doesn't exist yet, and then not receive the respect of a promised return call for the delivery of the product when it is produced.

They did a great job! This was the 2nd time we used this company. They arrived as scheduled. The trees were very big and near houses. They were very knowledgeable and personable making us comfortable and confident in them. Their crew worked steady and quickly but also safely. 'They also cleaned up. We'll definitely call them again.

Showed up as scheduled. Begin working immediately one would be amazed at the organized chaos to taking down two medium to large trees. One man up in a bucket, no more does the limb hit the ground and the others are scooping them up feeding the into a chipper. A darn good job at doing what they do. Watching that big machine chipping away at the base of these two trees,just simply amazing!!! Not only did the team take down two trees and remove two tree stumps one of which was pretty darn large they also removed a dozen or so boxwood hedges with the same punch as the trees. Took just under two days to complete the job. Bear in mind they went far beyond my expectations removing the roots and feeder roots,pretty much turning my front yard into a tilled garden. Took the time to grade and level out my yard and gave advice on planting grass for next year. Excellent service and an excellent team to work with!!!

Showed up for quote in timely manner and quickly gave us a price. Had to reschedule from our original work date due to weather and he called to communicate this in timely manner - also responds quickly to messages through Angies List. They arrived as planned and the whole crew demonstrated professionalism and worked the entire day. He was very concerned about protecting my yard/grass from as much damage as possible and brought in smaller/lighter weight equipment to complete the job instead of his heavier equipment. Took great care in removing the limbs from the trees in order to avoid damaging our fence or our neighbors yards. After the trees were down and removed, they ground the stumps. Everything was cleaned up and left in good condition. Very pleased with the entire process. Thanks.

The arrived on the day as agreed upon. The crew went right to work without pause. They cut down and ground out the first tree and then moved to my other location and started on the big Sugar Maple to top it and trim it up. After the work was done they left my yard in outstanding shape. As a special they were running that I was not aware of they cleaned the leaves from my yard at the end of their job. They did not have to tell me about this and not do the work, but this an honest business who will give an honest appraisal, due what is agreed upon, and not try to oversell.

This is the third job for which I've used the Tree Trimmer and I would definitely use them again. I needed a tree to be cut down quickly to accommodate the contractor who was building columns for a fence. I called Jim and requested him to remove the tree and stump ASAP and within 48 hours he responded with a crew which did just that. They cut the tree down, gathered up the trunk and branches and loaded them on a truck. Afterwards, they ground up the stump and a long root that was partially above the ground. They then filled in the hole and blew the remaining debris off my drive and the street. I couldn't ask for better or more prompt service. Since I just had the one tree, I did not benefit from the economies of scale that typically are associated with a job that involves more work. So I paid the minimum fee for this particular job and consequently just rated the price as good. However, for that price, I got a contractor who is bonded and insured; who uses friendly and professional workers, and; who, on other larger jobs, has given me the benefit of discounts that more than made up for the minimum charge in this case. (In fact, I was given a discount from the normal minimum charge.) I would definitely recommend The Tree Trimmer for tree jobs large and small.

Everyone on the crew was extremely nice and really concerned about the condition of our premises. The work was completed quickly and to our complete satisfaction. When they left our property, the only thing left behind were some flakes of sawdust. Great job at a reasonable price!

A+ work from Jim and his team. Cannot say enough about their quality of work. Very professional and left the area they worked in immaculate when they were finished. I would not have trusted anyone else to have done the job that they did. The trees were not in the best location and also near our fence which made it more of a challenge but it was not a problem for them. Will definitely use them again in the future!

I think they did a great job. I was very pleased with their work. They came in and did everything that I wanted. They did a very efficient, excellent job. I would definitely use them again. They think they're one of the best.

After Jim's crew finished the tree removals last month the landscaper came and noticed some remaining tree roots and advised these be removed before proceeding with reseeding. I called Jim and he came back and removed the three remaining roots without charge.

Excellent job! They were prompt, stayed with the work and cleaned up well afterwards. I don't know how the job could have been done any better. I have used a different tree service in the past but was unable to get them for this job, so I turned to Angie's list and found these guys. Since I only got this one estimate, I can't rate the price I was given vs. other services, but I am happy with the value I got on this job.

I have had several trees removed by other companies, but Tree Trimmers were the best. The number 1 concern of the boss was safety of his crew. He constantly was watching out for tree branches being cut and dropping from Mike up in the boom truck to the ground. This was very important to me. He truly was concerned about the welfare of the men who work for him. The second most important thing was the care of my property. 4 of the trees were right next to my back deck, not one branch hit the deck. They put yellow cones over the graves of my pets so they would not damage them. Jim gave me advice on how to bring back my yard to a healthy bed of grass. They were very professional and worked as a "team" to get the job done. I had called several other tree people but none of them even returned my calls. I would strongly recommend Tree Trimmer to anyone. Out of 5 Stars, I would give them 6!!

The two maple trees were under, and growing into the main power lines. The electric system wanted to just cut them off the power lines, however, we did not want the type of work they do. The men working with The Tree Trimmer were very careful and exact as they trimmed the trees. They were all courteous and hardworking men. The cleanup was perfect; you can't tell they have been here. The owner, Jim, is very particular about the way the trees are trimmed. As they were leaving, he noticed three small twigs that were sticking up and he instructed his men to come back and cut them off. Jim kept me informed as to the exact date/time he would be here. He even drove to my house the night before they were scheduled to be here to tell me that he did not want to bring his equipment onto my lawn until it was completely dry. I am very satisfied with their work and will certainly use them in the future.

This is the second time we have used The Tree Trimmer and the results were as good the second time as the first. We needed to have our property lines cleared for the installation of a fence. Jim and his crew arrived a day earlier than scheduled which was a huge help since our fence installer was apt to show up at any time. They did their usual excellent job of removing trees and debris. In particular, they trimmed up some pretty ragged looking Bradford pear trees and made them look much more attractive. Second, my neighbor was so impressed with the Tree Trimmers work that he contacted Jim to have a large tree removed. Knowing that the tree was in the vicinity of the fence we were having installed and not wanting to interfere with that work or cause damage to the fence, Jim went out of his way to move up my neighbor's tree removal on his schedule and get that work done before any fence work was done. I can't say enough about how the Tree Trimmer looks out for his customers. He has an impressive array of equipment to handle any job I've had. The men who work for him are friendly and professional. I'd recommend his services to anyone.

Outstanding work. Very professional crew. Fast work Can not tell where the trees were. The cleanup was especially noteworthy they even cleaned up some of my mess.

The service was to remove a large dying sycamore, and two old pear trees. He also removed a jungle of vines that choked from the area of the sycamore and the tulip tree next to it. The debris was all removed, including the (insect laden) pears, After they spread a suitable amount of shredded wood mulch about the area, you would have thought a landscaper had been there. They did an excellent job.

After getting several estimates, I decided to go with the Tree Trimmer because he offered a good price, and he actually walked up to the trees and touched them, treating them like the living things they are. He said he would come sometime that week weather permitting, and they made it on Saturday. They came Saturday morning, and all was done by evening. They were very professional. They left the area in excellent shape. I was disappointed in how much they trimmed one of the trees, but that was a miscommunication on my/our part. I just wanted the tree branches trimmed back from the power lines, but they trimmed the branches all the way back to the trunk. The tree looks fine from the outside, but now the foliage cannot be seen from inside the house, and the red maple leaves is the reason we have the tree in the first place. I am sure in subsequent years the foliage will again be seen from inside the house, but I was sad when I first saw how much they had trimmed it back. Neighbors have commented on how much better the trees look from their perspective, how much the trimming "opened up" the property. They ground up the stump that was left from the one (diseased) tree they cut down and cleaned up when all was done. All in all, they did a great job, and I would use them again.

This is the second year that I have used Jim's service. Jim is the owner and personally oversaw my project. He is always available to answer questions. He is personable and true to his word. I had a bush removed and the stump ground up. I had 2 large trees removed and the stumps ground up. He also cleaned up a couple of areas in the yard. I asked to have the second tree removed while he was working on the first and he gave me a great price on it since he already had the equipment in my yard. Unfortunately for Jim his drill broke while removing the second tree and he was unable to complete the project that day. He came out maybe 2 weeks later, after he got a new drill and finished the work as promised. He had called me during that time with a progress report so that I would be assured they would return. He didn't charge me extra for the additional trip out to my house with the full crew to finish the job. I thought that was generous of Jim since it probably cost him a little extra to bring his crew out again. I have always appreciated his communication because most contract workers I've had to deal with in the past really don't call or come when they say they will. Jim is reliable and I will most definitely use him again next year. My yard looks great! The ground is level where the trees were ground and it has really opened up my yard. I absolutely recommend Jim to anyone!

To start with, I had been putting off having the yard work done with exception of mowing and most everything was out of control. I had two dead trees as well as several shrubs that need to be removed as well as all of the other shrubs needed to have the dead areas removed and others that needed to be trimmed back. The day went absolutely great! Jim arrived with his crew on Saturday as scheduled. Jim and I did another walk through to make sure we were still on the same page of what my expectations were when the work was complete. Jim was present on the job the entire time. He gave detailed instructions to his guys and did the final trim work himself. I'm totally pleased with the entire job. They started out by removing the dead trees. Then went on to trim dead limbs out of another tree and trimming it back to a more uniform shape. All of the shrubs were trimmed back to an even height and took special care to trim some dead areas out of some of the shrubs while still maintaining an attractive balance. Their clean up was really good! They raked the entire yard to make sure they had gotten all the debris and everything was clean. I couldn't be more pleased!!! My home hasn't looked this good since we first moved in! I've used other people to prune the shrubs and trees in the past but never looked as good as it does now. Jim was an extremely nice person to work with and really wanted to do a good job and do what I wanted done. The guys that worked with him were also courteous. I would definitely recommend Tree Trimmers and intend to use them again.

They told me it would take 2 days and they completed the work in one. They removed all the wood and branches and left my yard looking great!

The Tree Trimmers are AWESOME. Five stars is not nearly enough. I contacted them originally to just cut down some broken limbs from a giant old Chinese Chestnut tree in the back yard. Jim called me that night. He said he had some time and came right to the house to give me an estimate. While he was there, I asked him to give me a price for the rest of the work that I needed done "someday". I had Junipers that had gotten so overgrown that they covered my bedroom windows and most of the front of the house. He worked with me so that I could afford to have everything done in one trip. He promised to try to work me into the schedule the following week if he possibly could. I got a call from him on Wednesday the next week and I was scheduled for that Friday at 11:00. I had mentioned that I needed some firewood and he told me that as he was bringing trucks to the house anyway if I wanted a load there would be no delivery charge. He and his crew arrived at 10:55 with a convoy of vehicles that lined my street. Within a few hours they had cut down a good sized Locust in my front yard, split and stacked that wood along with the seasoned firewood he had brought. The next hour saw all of the shrubs removed and chipped up. They then ground out the stumps to allow me to replant without wrestling the old roots and while he was at it, removed some huge tree roots that made for a tripping hazard in my lawn. They then set to work to clean up the yard. It was outstanding. When they pulled out of my street at a little after 5:00 you would never have known I had had tree work done. They even fluffed up the grass where the equipment had mashed it down. I have had tree work done at homes in both Upstate New York and North Carolina and I have never experienced the quality of work, attention to detail and sincere caring for my property as I did with The Tree Trimmers. I am a single woman and new to the Tennessee area and I could not have been treated in a more fair and honest manner. Ladies, you can count on Jim and his crew to deliver a truly exceptional job.

This is my second service call with The Tree Trimmer. A summer storm caused a large limb to shear off of a Bradford Pear tree in my front lawn. Within 2 hours of my call the company owner came out and gave me an estimate to remove the downed limb and to top the two large overgrown Bradford Pear trees. Work was completed within one week of the initial call. The Tree Trimmer is an outstanding company. Punctual, honest, friendly, and responsible are all adjectives that apply. When the work was completed the clean up was impressive...there was not a pile of sawdust, leaves, or limbs to be found. I will call him again when I need any tree work done.

All of the large trees were within 30-40 feet of my house. I was concerned mainly about the Bradford pear trees because I had been told by different people after I bought the house that it was not a matter of if, but rather when each would lose a part of itself and possibly land on my house or fence. I could have had them pruned down a lot, but was told I would have to do this every few years to keep them from growing back so large again over time and I decided to just have them removed. One of the the large Pin Oaks had signs of disease at the top and none of the tree experts I spoke to could confidently say that it was not going to die in the next few years. The other Pin Oak was within 10 feet of my house and I was told it looked healthy, but that the root system could encroach on the foundation of the house. The Maple tree was beside the fence and over the years had grown rather lopsided because of being in the shade of the other taller trees. I had not initially planned to have all this done, but they use very heavy equipment to do the job and I decided to have all the trees removed to avoid the possibility of having to go through all this again in the future. They had to take down part of my fence in the front to gain access to the back yard and in the process one of the fence posts cracked near the cement deep in the ground. The fence is old and in need of some repair, and I am considering replacing it in the future so I did not have them replace this front part with the gate. The heavy equipment did leave some ruts in the ground, but given all they had to do was not too bad. They took great care to avoid coming right after a rain to try to diminish rutting and to protect the yard as much as possible. Mr. Lewis told me he would clean up the yard after all was done and he did that very well, leaving it in very good condition for the landscaper to come and put down top soil and reseed. I had planned to do this before deciding on taking down all the trees because of erosion from the grass not growing well under the trees. As for the price I am new to all of this, but from what I understand from talking to different people it was reasonable. All in all, Mr. Lewis and his crew were very good and polite to work with and I would recommend them to anyone needing tree service. Mr. Lewis gave me some good suggestions about what to plant and what not to plant in the future to avoid having to go through all this again. If you are contemplating planting trees in your yard I would suggest you contact Mr. Lewis first for his opinion for your particular yard, or if you are buying a house that you invest in a consultation with him about the trees and other plants in the yard before making your offer to buy.
